The vows can often be the single most important overlooked detail of your entire wedding. The traditional vows are fine don't get me wrong , if it ain't broke don't fix it right? However, I am sure that there are some couples out there that want to spice things up a bit and write their own wedding vows. It can seem a little overwhelming to take on the vow writing task, but we are here to give you a few tips to help you wow your love and your guest with your wedding vows.

1. Allow your vow style to be a reflection of your couple style - Now isn't the time to try to create a whole new couples style. Let your guest see what it is that makes you so unique. So, if you love to laugh together feel free to add in a couple of funny lines.

2. Speak from your heart - This is the one moment that you have to tell your friends and family why you are marrying this special person. Express to your love all the things about them that makes your heart skip a beat. Wedding day is the perfect day to get a little mushy.

3. Give yourself time - Start writing your vows at least 6 weeks before your big day, the last thing you need is the pressure of writing your vows the night before. Start to jot down thoughts and feelings as you move throughout everyday life. Keep a small notepad with you at all times so that you capture your thoughts at any moment.

Location, Location, Location! For weddings, as in real estate, picking the location and venue for your big day is an important decision. Choosing the right venue can be the difference between having a great wedding experience and a not so memorable one. For this installment of 'Wedding Wednesday,' we will bring to your attention some things to consider that will be useful for picking the right venue for you!

Budget

First things first: Set your budget. As everyone knows, the budget is the be-all and end-all (well it should be) when it comes to selecting the venue for your wedding. The importance of setting your budget before looking for a wedding venue is that it makes it easier for you to not spend more than you have or are willing to on a venue. How can you estimate your budget if you have no idea how much it costs to hold your wedding at a venue? One word: Research. Do some research in the market of the area you want to have your wedding to get an idea of the cost and based on that determine the price range for your budget on the wedding location. How much you are willing and able to spend will play a determining role in what venue and area you can have you wedding ceremony. For instance, venues in metropolitan areas have a higher price point than those in small towns. Also, if you have been yearning to have your wedding in a posh hotel, know that it will be much more costly than at a church or social club. Another factor will be the 'when' of your wedding day event. Wedding ceremonies held during the weekday will be more budget friendly than those held during the weekend. The season . One of the most important takeaways is that you be realistic when it comes to establishing a budget. If you are, it will save you lots of stress down the line.

Know The Theme

When searching for a venue, it's great to have a wedding theme in mind. Knowing what type of affair you want to have whether it is vintage or fairy tale will help to narrow down and focus your search. If you are looking to have a movie-themed wedding a performance hall or theatre could be locations to consider that would also add a nice vintage touch. For modern brides that are into minimalism, art museums and galleries are perfect match. If you are going for the nautical feel, weddings held on a yacht especially around sunset is are a beautiful experience. And for those who want something more traditional and religious, a church,cathedral, or other place of worship would be perfect. With all the endless possibilities, having a theme in mind while help you to pick the location that will bring your ideas alive.

Size Does Matter

Knowing how many people you plan on having attend your wedding ceremony (or at least a rough estimate) is very very very important in determining what kind of venues you can choose from. If want to have a small number of guests at your wedding affair than it is best to choose a more intimate setting. On the other hand, if you end up having 300 guest attend, it would be quite inconvenient and a possible fire hazard if you chose a venue beforehand that can only hold 100 people. With that said, it's best to have at least a rough estimate of attendees before choosing a venue. Another detail to keep in mind that often is overlooked is parking. Choosing a venue that can accommodate the parking needs of guests will cut down on the headache and will also lead to happier guests.

Hey fellas! It's that time of the week, 'The Man Thursday,' where the focus is all on you - the groom to be. Today we are here to help you out with the always anticipated, sometimes dreaded groom speech at the wedding reception. The groom's speech can be a very entertaining and touching moment or it can be a pure disaster. Don't fret, we will be providing you with some tips that will help to make your upcoming speech an experience to be remembered - in a good way:

1. Keep it Short.
Make sure your speech does not exceed 5 minutes. Public speaking can be daunting for anyone. Your nerves can sometimes get the best of you and cause you to ramble on and on and on. We suggest that you come prepared. Like the saying goes 'practice makes perfect,' so try practicing your speech in front of the mirror or a trusted friend. Jotting down some major points on a notepad will be very helpful, as well. Remember, people have a short attention span, so keep your speech short and sweet.

2. Lighten up!
Your wedding day is supposed to be fun, so make sure to loosen up. If you have great timing and funny stories to share, why not try a humorous approach. Everyone loves to laugh and this will be a great way to share some details about you and your bride. So if you can pull it off, crack a joke or a few. Your guests will definitely enjoy it!

3. Flattery goes a long way
Who doesn't love to hear nice things said about them? Your groom's speech is the best time to say some complimentary things about your wife, in-laws, and other guests of honor. No need to overdo it, but a few simple words and even just a 'thank you' can do wonders. This is the perfect platform to show your gratitude to all whom you care for, so flatter away.

Terrific Find Tuesday - Cold Stone Creamery in South Orange, NJ

So we were hired to plan a surprise party for our client's sister (such a great gesture). We only have a month to plan so we have had to work overtime to make this day great. Today, we went cake shopping.

We started out at a "traditional" bakery as directed by the venue. Its a well know well respected place that does produced really great cakes( I even use them personally) after meeting with the cake designer and noticing that we would be coming in a little over budget, I recalled a tip that my client shared about the guest of honor, She liked a specific cake from Cold Stone Creamery. So I went to check them out and ended up at the Cold Stone Creamy that what was closet to our office located at 3 Sloan Street South Orange, NJ 07079, by the train station.

Well BOY was I in for a treat! The staff was super helpful in answering all my questions & proved me wrong in a good way all at the same time. I went in kinda doubtful thinking I was only going to be able to get a square or round plain boring cake... WAS I ever re-educated. Instead the staff brought out books and photos of a awesome looking cakes, I was amazed!!!! Tiers, heart shapes, and even wedding cakes. Anything you can imagine from a standard bakery cake they can do it with Ice Cream from Cold Stone. They even deliver!!!!

I was able to choose a cake style & discuss a design that I know the client will love, all at a price that will fit my clients budget with the Cake Designer. Yes, they have a professional cake designer on staff just for people like us! Can you say over joyed?

Here is a sneak peak of the design idea we have. I can't wait to show-off the real deal in a couple weeks.

All and all so far I have had a great experience with this Cold Stone Creamery. I urge you to check them out the next time you are looking to have some cake and eat your ice cream too.

A Couple of tips before deciding that ice cream cake is for you:

1) Time of year - In the heat of summer ice cream cake for a more formal function wedding or outdoor function may not be so wise. If you choose to go with ice cream make sure that the place you purchase is not really to far from your venue. Know that you may not be able to fully display the cake at your event like you would a traditional cake.

2) Advanced Prep & Planning - Ensure that your venue can support the hosting of an ice cream cake BEFORE you order. Make sure they will have the freezer capacity to keep the cake cold until shortly before served.

Terrific Find Tuesday - Hallak Cleaners

Today I went on a tour of Hallak Cleaners. It was the coolest thing I've done all month. I know the first thing you may wonder is how much fun can I have a cleaners? Rest assured that Hallak Cleaners is far from just an "ordinary" cleaners.

The decor and colors of the cleaners make you feel so comfortable upon walking in. It just puts you into a great mood, along with the front of the store staff that is very friendly and helpful. I had the honor of receiving a warm greeting from John-Claude Hallak, VP of Hallak Cleaners & Donna Serino who spearheads the bridal gown preservation division, they then took me on a behind the scenes tour of the Hackensack, NJ location and that is where the fun began! (Please note there is a NY location. See below for details).

I was able to get a mini course in all the equipment that is used to make their magic happen. They had a lot of fancy gadgets and the automation & tracking of each item that comes in was mind blowing. However, I was most impressed by the fact that they have a person(really nice lady) who actually inspects every item before it goes back to the customer. Nothing leaves the grounds before it gets her stamp of approval.

So WHY do you ask this EVENT PLANNER touring a Cleaners? For two reasons:

1) The employees are GREAT
2) The EXCELLENT reputation they have for cleaning and preserving your wedding gown.

You have invested THOUSANDS of dollars into your wedding dress, why not invest in making sure its handled with care after your big day? It’s never good to let things fester, it will only get worse and make things harder to be resolved. This may seem like it's unreasonable since some issues faced are too big to get resolved in just one day, but that's not what we are suggesting. Soon, you will be making the vow to be faithful partners to each other in good times and in bad. Marriage is in no terms an easy path; you will have really good times together and bad, tumultuous ones. When the going gets tough, you will have to constantly remind each other that you decided to go down this path, together, because you love each other. When you have your big arguments and don't see eye to eye, before you go to sleep make it an effort to say to each other, 'I'm not happy with you right now, I might still be unhappy with you when I wake up, but I married you because I love you enough to work through the bad times, together.'

Have 'Me' Time

Are we asking you to spend time apart? Yes! It doesn't hurt, once in awhile. Heard of the expression “absence makes the heart grow fonder”? Well, it has some merit. Planning a wedding is a very stressful experience and allowing each other some time to focus on just yourselves can relieve some stress. You will also notice a decrease in bickering that usually comes from too much time together in stressful situations. Give each other some breathing space and focus on your individual hobbies - you won’t regret it.

Marriage is hard work. While preparing for your wedding day, don't forget to work on preparing for your life as a married couple. Marriage is not just the wedding day, it's the rest of your lives.

The lounge doesn't have to be a huge space or in a separate room. It can be as simple as a small space on the inside of the ballroom, or if you have a patio or outside space.

Table Games - Why not rent some table top games like a pool table, Foosball. It allows for a couple of players to interact at one time. Allows the groom and his friends some time to chat it up a bit, while they can still focus on things going on around around.

Cigar Roller - Yes, there is something about a new beginning that makes guys want to whip out a cigar. Wedding Day, Children's births, & Retirement all bring out the urge for a cigar in a man. Why not create a space where they actually watch the artistry of the process. However, having a beautiful wedding does not mean you have to break your budget there are plenty of ways to splurge and save and get exactly what you want with out loosing track of your budget. Bides must remain realistic and how your finances may be affected after you walk down the isle. Its important to know what are the most important items to have at your wedding and what you can do with out. We want to make sure every client is getting the most bang for your buck!!.

PICK THE RIGHT VENDOR

When picking your wedding vendors make sure it’s someone who you have great chemistry with, and will have no problem with executing your vision for your wedding. When dealing with wedding professionals (caterers, florists, photographer, etc.), You want to make sure that its clear exactly what you are expecting of them for your wedding. Make sure you give clear details and have everything in writing down to the very last detail. You don’t want to run the risk of not writing something down or it was only verbally discussed and come wedding day its not there. Clarify all the details and your expectations of the vendor during the initial consultation. Negotiate the best deal for all products and services, it’s your wedding so make sure you feel comfortable with the price your spending for the products or services you will be receiving. Most importantly, be sure to read the fine print on every contract before you sign it, ask what the cancellation policy just incase you change your mind or need to postpone your wedding.

GET THE GROOM INVOLVED

Often times the bride is the one doing all the planning for the wedding and the groom is assigned a select few tasks. To make sure you are not over stressed with handling all the duties of planning the wedding. Make sure your groom is taking on the same load of planning as you are. Don’t make him feel like he is just paying to show up for the wedding. Let him take the lead give him a list of half the items that need to be planned and allow him to make decision yes, you will need to communicate with each other to make sure both of you are okay with the finial decision. Make sure you schedule time for a regular check – up with each other emotionally. It can be daily, weekly, or monthly which ever fits your style. Be sure to honor your scheduled time just like you would an important meeting with your manager. Use this time to discuss every thing from situations that may be bothering you to reinforcing how much you love each other.

3) Schedule Some Recreational Time - pick an activity that will help you create memories. Whether a cooking class, dance lessons, or ice skating or anything else you may like to do. Find an activity that allows you to work together, be a little competitive, and just have some fun.

New Take on the Unity Candle Tradition

We’ve all seen it done before: the officiant says some words on two lives coming together and then the bride and groom each take a lit candle from their respective family candle and together light a "unity candle." The unity candle ceremony holds great meaning, symbolizing two families coming together and two individuals becoming one ‘unit.’ The problem is, nowadays this particular ceremony has become more of a routine custom and mostly goes unnoticed.

For those of you who want a unity ceremony at your wedding but one that will hold more personal significance, try putting a twist on the unity candle ceremony. Here are two alternative ideas that will get you thinking of how to incorporate the unity ceremony in a way that will make a more memorable impression at your upcoming nuptial.

Ring a Bell

An old wedding superstition regarding bells was that ringing bells at the ceremony would ward off evil spirits intent on wrecking havoc on the newlywed couple’s bliss. The bells were also thought to bring good fortune to the couple. Although this superstition has faded into the past, bells are still rung as a celebration of the couple's love, happiness, and union.

This may come as a surprise since food trucks used to conjure the image of greasy food and workers with questionable hygiene - not anymore. With the increasing popularity of The Great Food Truck Race on the Food Network, gourmet food trucks are becoming more than just an LA thing. People are starting to take notice and are incorporating them in a big way on their big day.

Often times while planning people use the words escort cards and place cards interchangeably. However, they serve two totally different purposes within your wedding or special event. Take a few moments to discover what their differences .

Escort cards - Most often set-up outside the main ballroom of an event and direct guests to their assigned table. The escort card will list a guest's name and the number/name. The cards are usually listed in alphabetical order most commonly by last name. For more formal events you would list the name with the respective titles (i.e. Mr. & Mrs. John Doe) for informal events you would list only the first names (i.e. John & Jane Doe). We are located in NJ & the snow has given us some time to reflect on how we can better serve you and we are super excited to put our plans into action.

I think I love my bridesmaids

I watch some bridezilla episodes and cringe at how the brides often turn their bridesmaids into verbal punching bags. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming to a bride. Here are a couple of tips that can help you & your bridesmaids have a positive, stress -free planning experience.

Brides

1) Make sure that you're selecting bridesmaids that are supportive - Select friends and families that are supportive of your relationship and who will love and support you not only through the planning process but through your marriage.

2) Create a task sheet for each bridesmaids - Since you know your friends best make sure you assign them task that highlight their strengths.

3) Schedule regular meetings with your bridesmaids - You can set the frequency of meeting depending on how much planning time you have. For example if you have 1 year to plan you may want to schedule meeting every 3 months, with more frequent meeting as the wedding date gets closer.

4) Create a bridesmaids newsletter - include information about their dresses, shoes, hair styles. As well as information about the wedding location, time, & day of time lines. You can also include small details like where you are honeymooning and information about the wedding professionals that you have hired.

5) Be kind to your Bridesmaids - Don't take your wedding stress out on your bridesmaids. Remember they have feelings too. Everyone wants to feel respected and valued including your bridesmaids.

Bridesmaids

1) Be committed - If you have agreed to be a bridesmaid, you are making a pledge to the bride that you will be committed to her big day. That commitment extends further then just putting on a dress on wedding day. We know that you have responsibilities outside of "the wedding" but once you agree to participate in the bride's big day. Be prepared to commit yourself when called upon.

2) Be Honest - If you cannot commit fully to the wedding and all that comes with it. Inform your bride upon her asking. Let her know of anything that may hinder your full commitment to her big day so that she can plan accordingly.

3) Check- in on your bride - Try to reach out to the bride via phone, text, or e-mail at least once every two weeks. It allows the bride to know that you are thinking about her. Giving her a sense that she is not alone during the hectic planning time. Allowing the bride to be more relaxed.

4) Have a good attitude - When asked to participate or assist with a task check your attitude. It may not be your favorite task, but remember the bride is asking because she needs help. Make sure you give your attitude an adjustment so that you don't bring any added stress to the situation.

The most important thing for both the bride and bridesmaids to remember is to have fun! Enjoy!
