Episode 19: Affiliate Marketing and 1&1 Hosting

In this episode I talk about my latest BIG income stream. This one will eventually become the biggest income stream that I have coming in, even will trump my current full time job as a real estate appraiser.

If you have been following my videos, you have already seen a number of ways I currently make money online, in this episode I reveal a couple more.

By targeting a very small micro niche, I am able to dominate the market and create great value at the same time. Since I am a real estate appraiser and also love to do marketing, I thought this would be a great opportunity to teach other real estate appraisers how to market their businesses.

I previously spoke how one of my best income streams is through product creation where I created a directory of vendors that serve real estate appraisers. Through my contacts in the industry, I have been able to make a lot of sales of this directory and I have found publications to get the word out to real estate appraisers that the directory is available for purchase. I also have a popular blog for appraisers that I occasionally use to offer them the directory.

After meeting another real estate appraiser that is an expert at appraisal company marketing, we teamed up and formed a private marketing club for real estate appraisers called the Appraiser’s Club. You can check it out at http://www.appraisersclub.com.

Through step-by-step tutorials, live webinars and interviews we are able to create an amazing value at a low price for appraisers looking to get more business. This has become my latest and greatest income stream. The club is far from passive income, but could easily become an income replacement stream. It will teach you how to quickly install a wordpress blog on almost any hosting provider. It is really simple, I promise.

The main thing this tutorial will teach you is how to GET STARTED. This is one of the first steps you will be taking after selecting a niche. You can also use this to create a static website a blog type website for review products, niche websites and affiliate marketing work from home.

In this short tutorial I walk you through the steps of getting a good web host like Blue Host, select a domain name and create your blog. In upcoming tutorials I will walk you through the steps of creating a review / niche website.

I plan on creating a niche website reviewing various metal as earn money online and meteorite detectors and will add articles, product reviews and interviews with industry experts. I will also show you how to get guest bloggers to create most of the content for you which will provide a great source of information from various industry writers that the search engines and customers are sure to love. The more great and valuable information you offer, the better chances you have at creating a successful and make money website .

One affiliate marketer that I have always wanted to interview was Pat Flynn. Not only is he a great internet entrepreneur, online blogger, teacher, speaker, an excellent affiliate marketer but he is also a family man and all around good guy!

He started only about 5 years ago and today is one of the most profitable and popular affiliate marketers teaching others how make money online, create passive income and lifestyle design at Smart Passive Income. Couldn’t get much better than this!

I wanted to know what brought Pat to San Diego from Connecticut at an early age as well as when he got started with making money online and creating passive streams of income. It turns out Pat moved from Connecticut with his family while he was in 3rd grade because of a job relocation. He really loves it here and you can see that family is what Pat is all about.

Pat shared his history with how he started making money online and the driving force behind it. He does go on to explain that his success did not come over night and that he did have to put in a lot of hard work to get to where he is today. We go over the different streams of income and techniques he uses to currently bring in over $40,000 every month. Sometimes much higher than that! Wow.

Be Everywhere Philosophy

Pat has diversified his income streams well and not only is he making money through many different methods, but he is also Everywhere on the internet. You can find Pat Flynn on Blogs, Videos, Podcasts, Niche Websites, iPhone Applications, Conventions and even movie credits!!!! I believe he handled the social media for a movie called Broken Arrow and even walked the red carpet.

In a short 5 years, he has built up his income, along with his reputation by being very straight forward and honest with everything he does. In most online industries, competition is fierce, but not only is he praised by the competition, I feel like he has also brought people in his same niche together. Pat focuses on many different niches when making money online, but he also teaches others how to do it and that is currently where the bulk of his income comes from. But he doesn’t have any products of his own to sell, you can’t buy his tutorials.

Pat provides tremendous value to his viewers – and they give the love back
How he makes his money through teaching is by showing people how he makes money online. He uses his income reports to show what profitable areas he is currently working in. He has created a niche site duel that teaches people how to make money with niche websites. He even talks about his iPhone applications. If he is using a product or service, he might mention that product or service in a blog post or on his podcast. His loyal viewers in turn want to use the same products and services and he gets a little commission on each sale. But don’t think his viewers or readers don’t know about it, he doesn’t hide the fact, he actually promotes it.

While some purchase through his affiliate links because the link is right there, easy to click on and just follow in his footsteps, others will actively seek out his affiliate links to send some love back to Pat. I know I have. It just feels good to give back when you really appreciate how well he delivers his information. He does it for free and he is changing lives. I wouldn’t have started teaching others how I make money online if I didn’t come across his website. I really liked his style and was tired of the SELL SELL SELL grind.

I have been an affiliate marketer for a long time now and am trying to learn the soft sell technique that he employs. I wouldn’t even say he uses soft selling techniques! He is just very open and honest.

The Soft Sell
Pat has excelled at showing people , he has been doing to make moneyonline . When you are learning how to make money online you usually need website hosting, special tools and scripts that can make it easy and quicker to get jobs done, etc… We both use Market Samurai for our keyword research and we teach others how to use it. Website hosting is one of his best affiliate products. He doesn’t say you must use Blue Host because that is the only way to get a website up and hosted. Because he started his blog with Blue Host, is happy with their service and continues to them as a blog host. He makes money through affiliate commissions from products and services that he uses to make money online.

What is Passive Income?
Well, I came across a very generic definition online: income that is received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it.

When I first read it I thought to myself, ‘little effort, hah!’, but when I thought about it, that is the true definition of passive income. Work HARD, set up your automation or processes and later enjoy the passive income that it brings in. Your passive income streams should be set up in a way to not require additional work for the most part. Sometimes you will need to do some maintenance to keep it going or to optimize sales, but for the most part it is passive.

In the interview we talk about a variety of his passive income streams that include Adsense, iPhone apps, affiliate marketing and his niche website products. Niche Websites Explained

In general, a niche is a specific area of demand for a product or service. In relation to internet marketing, a niche market is a small area of a much larger market. You build niche websites focusing on a small segment of a much larger market which tends to be more specialized and have less competition than the larger market work from home .

For example, instead of selling tools, you might specialize in drills. If you wanted a micro niche and there was enough of a demand to support the business, you might consider selling only cordless drills, or 1 specific model of cordless drills. The much more targeted niche website would most likely have more detailed information on the specific product or service and the content information won’t get diluted with tons of different products and services. Not only will the search engines have an easier time of finding the niche website, but you might even become known for that specific niche website and get additional links and social love because of it.

Episode 12: Interview with Pat Flynn from SPI

After almost a year of anticipation, I was finally able to sit down and have a great interview with Pat Flynn; the online blogger, internet entrepreneur, speaker, teacher, family man and overall a very down to earth guy. He has a blog and podcast titled Smart Passive Income.

What an amazing day, it just couldn’t have got much better!

When I conduct interviews, I really love to hear the complete journey and Pat shared it with us. Turns out he moved from Connecticut to San Diego when he was in 3rd grade and has been in love with it ever since. Things were quite different from Connecticut, but San Diego is now the place he and his family calls home and where he plans on staying. Why would anyone leave San Diego?! I know I tried and failed.

Pat shared his journey with earning money online, how he got started making money with Google Adsense and how he is creating passive income today. He talks about learning how to make money online through The Academy – Internet Business Mastery (which I recently joined as well). When comparing his journey to mine, I would probably say he opted for the rocket when I went for the car! He does explain that in no way did he just flip a switch and become successful, it took plenty of hard work prior to launching any products. With his ‘Be Everywhere’ philosophy, you can tell Pat is not afraid of working hard now to enjoy the benefits in the future. Pat explains the different techniques he has used to build his income streams to over $40,000 a month. That’s right, A MONTH!

If you are already a fan of Pat, or this is the first time you have heard of him, you will quickly find make money from home that he doesn’t do it for the money. Sure that is a nice benefit, but he has no aspiring goals to take over the world or live in a 50,000 square foot mansion.

He has built up his income, along with his reputation over the past 5 years due to his very straight forward and honest presentation of information. He doesn’t use hard selling techniques to make a buck, he hardly uses soft selling techniques. What he has excelled at is showing people what he has been doing to make money online. Everyone needs hosting, special tools and scripts make it easy and quicker to get jobs done, etc… We both use Market Samurai for our keyword research and we show others how to use it. Sometimes someone will buy it off a link or a resource page and we get a commission for that. Hosting is one of his best affiliate products. He doesn’t say you have to use Blue Host because that is the only way to get a website up and hosted. He started his blog with Blue Host, is happy with their service and continues to them as a blog host. He makes money through affiliate commissions from products and services that he uses to make money online. Sometimes people buy it from his link and again he gets a little cut.

He is very honest about his affiliate links and I follow his philosophy by telling people that my links to affiliate software, services and blog hosting are affiliate links as well. This is true affiliate marketing. We both believe you should never sell something you don’t own or use. Everything should add value and help the viewers along with their journey to make money online and create passive streams of income. If there is a product or service out there that truly adds value, there is an affiliate program available for it already. He never tells people they have to use it or they will fail or something bad will happen. He just shares with his audience what he uses. It not only makes his shows more enjoyable than most that teach people how to make money online, but you actually end up looking for his affiliate links because you want to keep supporting him to make sure his blog and podcast will be around forever. I know I did!

What is Passive Income?
A very generic definition would be income that is received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it. Read that over again if it doesn’t make sense, this time remember that the definition is only talking about MAINTAINING it. You first have to put in the hard work, sometimes incredibly hard work first so you can then sit back and enjoy the money coming in with little or no additional work.

Passive income streams are just multiple and preferably diversified passive income sources. I was doing so great in 1999, making the most money ever and had a super great passive income stream. But in March of 2000 the dot com bubble burst and my river ran dry. I hardly received any drought warnings, just one day almost everything dried up. Don’t make that mistake like many of us online entrepreneurs often do, always diversify.

Episode 10: Interview with the HotDogMan

At the most recent Affiliate Summit Convention in Las Vegas, I was interviewed by the HotDogMan. He was conducting interviews with people and wanting to know if they put ketchup on their hot dogs. I was intrigued that this guy was just walking around the show floor with a video camera and tripod and interviewing tons of famous people as well as other show attendees right there in the middle of the convention.

Some of the people he popped the question to was Bruce Clay, DK, Erick Thomas, Jim Kukral, John Chow, Jon Spoelstra, Kirk Taylor, Matthew Lesko, Missy Ward, Shawn Collins, Shoe Money, Tricia Meyer, Wade Tonkin and many others work from home.

He was having a great time and you could tell that he was very passionate about what he was doing. But I didn’t know why he was there. I just had to know his story and find out what he was up to so I asked him to do an interview with me.

He told me about his exiting life of running a hot dog truck business but unfortunately was unable to continue due to health issues and was forced to sell his business make money online.

He started a blog called hotdogstories.com and thehotdogtruck.com where he blogged about the business and started making money from selling his information and placing affiliate links to related products and services on his website.

He also created a website dedicated about how to start a hot dog business at howtostartahotdogbusiness.com. What a great idea!

It is a really amazing story and he has a lot going on. I can only imagine he will get a cable tv show soon. He was very laid back and it was nice to hang out with him during the conference.

Episode 9: Keyword Research Tutorial

After months and months of development, we are finally on to my FIRST step-by-step Keyword Research tutorial. This is the very first step you should be taking when identifying a niche, preparing to write a review or posting a new article. It gives you to avoid attempting to target for keywords or phrases that you will never rank for and identify great keywords to target that have both a good amount of traffic and low competition.

I am very excited to say the least!!!

I can tell you there have been many hurdles I have had to jump through to get to this point, but I have finally overcome them all and should be delivering a ton of new step-by-step videos on how to earn money online! There were many reasons for the delays, but persistence has paid off and I was finally able to find a competent video editor and cut back on my busy work schedule.

As I stated in my earlier videos, in addition to being an affiliate marketer with numerous online businesses for over 20 years, I am also a real estate appraiser. I really love being an appraiser and have been making more than ever before doing real estate appraisals for banks and credit unions.Recently I have cut back my hours running the appraisal business to put on live webinars and expand my marketing services to appraisers on my website Appraiser Income.

In the beginning of this episode I briefly talked about some quick methods you can use to make some money online. I constantly receive feedback from viewers that need to make some extra cash, RIGHT NOW.

Keyword research is the first step you should take when you are looking to buy a domain name, creating a new blog, writing articles or reviews of amazon products.

You need to size up your competition if you are looking to rank for a keyword or a keyword phrase and determine if you can get in to the top position of Google. Google has all the traffic. if you are in the top 5 or 10 spots in Google, your page will most likely show up in the top positions on all the other search engines and directories. You can search and find the Google external keyword tool to do a lot of this research and identify how much terms are searched for and a very limited amount of competition data for that keyword or phrase. You can also identify additional keywords to target that you might never have thought about.

You can easily spend hours doing keyword research to identify keywords to target, but when it all comes down to it, the Google External keyword tool does not provide you with enough information on the competition. You will need to get some addition plug-ins or manually search the keywords or phrases, check the competitions websites and identify how difficult it will be a keyword or phrase to rank for.

Remember, your number one goal is to rank #1 for your keyword phrase, but without spending hours of manual research with the Google External Keyword tool, you won’t know if you will ever be able to rank in the top positions.

You can quickly size up the competition by using keyword research software like Market Samurai. Saving you hours of research time and possibly months or years attempting to target a keyword or search phrase that is just not possible.

In this tutorial I am going to teach you how to use Market Samurai to do keyword research to find the most profitable and obtainable keywords and keyword search phrases. You will then be able to download your free trial and really test it out yourself.

In the video I also tell you about different browser plug-ins I use to check backlink data and obtain page rank, inbound and outbound link information and a variety of additional search engine optimization factors so you can get an in-depth look on your competitions websites or blog posts.

I made this short video about my first night in Las Vegas for Affiliate Summit West 2012. The convention hasn’t even started yet, but I had the great opportunity to learn more about making money online with mobile traffic and offers.

The private session was put on by Tracking 202, Jumptap and NeverBlue. Since the mobile market is exploding right now and there are a bunch of affiliates making a bunch of money pushing mobile offers to mobile traffic, I just had to attend.

It was a really good presentation about using the tracking information provided by NeverBlue and Tracking 202 to find out exactly where your offers are converting the best. Using the tracking systems along with a company that sells mobile traffic, like JumpTap, you can efficiently manage your spending and targeting to make sure you are getting the biggest bang for your buck.

This is a little more of an advanced topic to cover prior to covering the steps to just get a website online, but if you are even thinking of targeting the mobile market to earn money online, then this is a great place to start.

The main thing to remember when working with mobile is that offers tend to go stale quicker than offers that you are promoting on websites. That means you really need to keep a close eye on your analytics to make sure to fine tune where you traffic is going at all times.

But the analytics that is offered by Tracking 202 is amazing. You can find out exactly what offers are converting down to the service provider on the phone, what operating system it runs and even the model # of the phone itself. You can also find out what hours and days convert the best and when purchasing traffic and promoting offers, you will be able to purchase only the specific traffic that converts the best.

You might find a ring tone offer might due the best on the verizon network, Samsung Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0 OS. So you will want to only purchase that traffic (and of course all the other profitable traffic based on your analytics) and shut off the rest. You can also tweak the flow of traffic if you find that you are not making money between 8am – 3pm weekdays and all day Sunday. You can shut off the traffic you are purchasing at that time as well so your offers are not shown during those periods.

This is an amazing time to get in to mobile marketing. Make sure to visit the companies listed above for more information if you want to learn more about making money online with mobile traffic.

Episode 5: Happy New Year! Now earn some money!

Hey Everyone! I know it has been a little while since my last video, so I just wanted to give you an update on what I have been working on and what is to come.

I had a delay in making more videos on how to earn money online because I was trying to get my public ROKU channel approved. At the time this was my primary market as I wanted to do things differently from the standard podcasts that are available at this time.

Looking back, I should have delayed the release of my iTunes and YouTube make money online videos until I got the ROKU channel completed so there would be no delays in production. I found that there was a huge desire for how-to videos on how to earn money online and thousands of people downloaded the podcasts and videos.

I set some goals and decided I would start creating my step-by-step series starting in January after Affiliate Summit West 2012 #ASW2012.

I thought it would be a great idea to share my Affiliate Summit experience with you and relay all the information that I learn while I am out there. It is going to be in Las Vegas and I am very excited about the trip.

While I am at Affiliate Summit, I will also conduct some interviews with some big names in the affiliate marketing industry and hopefully conduct some other interviews and make additional videos on my experiences while I am there from my Hotel and from the show itself. I can’t wait!

If you are really serious about learning Affiliate Marketing, it is a great idea to attend these shows. You will learn a ton of great information and meet a lot of great people in the industry.

Another thing I wanted to let everyone know if they were thinking about the Amazonian Profit Plan and they were discouraged in California since at the time of my last videos, Amazon shut down their Amazon Associates affiliate system to residents in California due to sales tax issues.

The Governor must have heard the angry voices of over 70,000 affiliates and the bill was not passed and Amazon opened its doors back up to California Affiliate Marketers. So if you are in California and were thinking of writing reviews on Amazon Products as a method to earn money online, then get started!

I still think it is one of the best ways to get your feet wet and start learning about how you can make money online. It will only get better from there.

Episode 4c: Affiliate Programs & Info Products

I have numerous ways that I am currently making money off of my websites. On my appraiser blog I sell info products, related services as well as affiliate products and services and even a little adsense.

This video is a continuation of Video Episode 4b

Multiple methods I use to make money off my websites
The AMC directory is not the only way I make money off of that website. It is true that it is $100 for the book and you get the electronic version as well. However, I do sell just the electronic version alone for $79.95. I also have affiliate products and services on the website that I make money off of and some pages have Google Adsense. There are really high trafficked webpages within the blog that I do not have any products or services for – just much more information make money online. I will put up adsense and people could clink on links and I would get a little tiny bit of revenue that way. The main way I am going to double the income on this website over the next six months is I am creating a series of additional products and you can do this with any industry.

Making Money Through Affiliate Programs
What really works well with my appraisers is just to get them more business and more customers. That is the way it is going to be with almost any type of blog that you write, unless you are focusing on a product. On those product ones or the hobbies, you are mainly going to be focusing a lot on information earn money online . Then they could buy guides if they need them on how to modify something, like maps of certain locations – how to guides. There are a lot of different products that you could create for your customer base. You are probably going to make the majority of your money through affiliate programs – selling products. Or you are going to purchase those products yourself and resell them. Or you are going to get products made somewhere and sell them.

There is a huge variety of ways that you could make money off of your blog. Off of this I already have a link to another website that I have made called appraiserwebsites. I just throw out some quick blogs for appraisers with WordPress blog with like five pages. It is a static. It is actually not a blog. It is a static website using WordPress. It has basic things like the order page, information, services, service area, about page, contact page, and their home page. I optimize it usually with an optimizer plugin, built into WordPress or added to WordPress and I bring in a residual income that way. The website is originally worth $29.95 a month and I just got tired of hassling with expired credit card numbers and staying up on top of people that did not pay their bills on time. So I just made it a flat $260.00 a year and that is pretty cheap and it is to a point where it is really not worth my time to create those types of websites but I do love the appraisal industry so much and I really appreciate the people that have helped me and I really like to help people in general. For $260 a year, I will build an appraiser a website and get them listed in the search engines.

I really am trying to show people that are interested in how powerful the Internet could be if used properly that I am willing to take a pay cut to show these people. Whatever you put out there has value, even if you are practically giving stuff away. It is going to come back to you one way or another. It just always does and so that is kind of the mentality that I work by.

Inexpensive information products for upsells
In addition to the appraiser websites make money online , I have a new info product. It is only $25 and tells people how to get the most out of working with an appraisal management company, how to negotiate with them, and what to do when problems arise. It is a pretty big report. It is about 25 to 30 pages. It is just filled with information that most appraisers would never think of or consider. One big consideration that I found is that if I turn down all that lower paying work, where they are trying to get an appraiser to go out and do an appraisal for 50 percent or 25 percent of an appraisal fee, if you accepted all those and worked your butt off you might make a certain amount of money. I have found that if I counteroffer every single one of those orders and tell them, look, based on complexity I cannot do it for that much, but I can do it for this much and I could have it back to you by this date. I double my income doing that and work probably a quarter as much. It is just simple math but most appraisers are not willing to take that risk. They are going to say, okay, if I could be guaranteed to get the work right now today for this amount versus counter offering all those orders and saying, “No I can’t do it for that much but I will do it for this,” and it is cut and dry.

Some information I share with appraisers that build value
You make twice as much by counter offering and you do a lot less work. For that one little piece of information, it is golden for appraisers. I do not see how anyone would ever complain for a $25 product that gives you that type of negative information. I am also creating additional guides on Internet marketing and website optimization. There is a lot of packages that I am making that are related to appraiser software. I am not an expert in using that software, but I do know a fair amount of shortcuts, ways to speed up your time that you spend creating the appraisal report and that is valuable. There is a ton of products, as well as additional website services where I will optimize their website for like $1,000 and to an appraiser that is only a few orders. If you are able to get twice as many orders a month, it pays for itself in a month or two. It is a good investment.

People Trust Experts
Everything that I offer has value and so appraisers are usually willing to purchase them. If any appraiser has a problem with what I sold them, I give their money back, no questions asked. I put it all over my website, and put my phone number up. People trust me and they really believe that I am an expert in the area because I do feel like I am an expert, especially when it comes down to Appraisal Company marketing work from home . You could offer your clients marketing services. There is just so many different things that you could do.

What you might want to do between now and the next show, if you are not watching this right after the next, is just write down, like brainstorm, for a little while. Come up with a list of like 10 or 20 different things that you feel like you have a passion about, or that you are interested, that you do talk to your friends about frequently, um, that you feel like you have a lot of knowledge about or you would like to have a lot of knowledge about. There is a lot of people out there that do not know anything about a topic or a place or a type of food or a service but they really want to learn. They are willing to publish all the information that they have learned. Like if you want to go to Tahiti super bad and you are doing all this research on Tahiti, everything you could possibly find out about it and post it on a blog, I’m sure you could monetize that with some plane ticket deals, cruises, books, and equipment that you might need for travel. There is tons of ways you could monetize that. You could even make a guide where you tell them all that like the hidden things in Tahiti or really cool clubs or the stuff that someone visiting Tahiti for their first time might want to know about.

There is tons of different ways to monetize
make money online . The main thing is to find something that you know you will be able to give value to the listener or to the person reading your blog; and doing videos and podcasts kick butt. If you could work that into whatever your plan is on making money on the Internet, if you could incorporate podcasting and video right from the very beginning, you will be doing so much better than all the other affiliate marketers. Just when I added a short little video to the front of the blog, my orders increased by 25 percent from off the website, so it was just like a short, really short little video. I will play it for you on the next show. It just really brought sales in.

The Busy Appraiser Podcast
I do a podcast called the busy appraiser podcast. If you want to listen to it on iTunes, it is really amateurish. I do it with a headset on in my car and I just talk to people about the appraisal industry, my products and services and appraiser marketing. That brings in a ton of traffic. If you post your podcasts or videos across the Internet to all the different video and podcast sharing websites, you will be flooded with traffic, right from the very beginning, so you should probably try and incorporate that into your ideas but that is going to come up later on down the line, so stay focused.

Let us brainstorm this week. Try and come up with some good ideas. Think of something that you know you would be interested about blogging or doing a podcast or video cast about frequently. If you sputter out like 99 percent of the people do after the first month or two, it is just going to turn out being kind of like a waste of time. It will not be a complete waste because you will gain valuable experience and you will say, okay, I really like doing that as a hobby but I don’t necessarily like blogging about my fascination with RC cars. That will happen sometimes but it is the next step. That was maybe your first failure.

Episode 4b: How I monetized my appraiser blog

Making lots of cash off my Appraiser Income blog changed everything. It went from a boring blog making hardly any sales to a highly engaging portal with lots of sales. I could quit my day job with this income stream alone!

This is a continuation of Video Episode 4a

Creating My Own Vendor List
At the time I decided to start creating my own list of appraisal management companies, I had no intention to resell it. My intention was to stay in business. What I did was I starting going, this is back when I was in Arizona fixing up a rental property, and I was planning on retiring out there but just cannot live in Arizona. I love it out there. I love the desert but nothing beats the beach, so I had to come back. But while I was out there, this is when those changes went down and I had to find these appraisal management companies as quickly as possible otherwise I would not be able to make my two mortgages that I had at the time, all my nice built up debt and whatever else I had going on.

It was a very stressful time, but I knew I just had to hoof the pavement, pick up my phone, try making some phone calls and find as many appraisal management companies as possible
earn money online. So I started calling appraisers around the country and asking them how are they getting their work. What appraisal management companies are they using? I made sure to call appraisers that were located outside of Arizona. I called all my friends first that were appraisers that are now out of business unfortunately, but at that time they were getting some work trickling in so I first started by calling all them. Then I would call appraisers right out of the phone book, search Google and ask if they were interested in exchanging information. They would give me some of the AMCs (Appraisal Management Companies) that they were using.

I would give them some of mine and I would do that all day long. Then what I started to do was I built up a list. I could still do appraisals for companies that were doing FHA appraisals and I could still do bankruptcy and divorce and date of death type appraisals for people. So, I made a big list make money online in Google with company names and addresses in Maricopa County which is a huge area, has Phoenix in it, and I just started driving around and made a map in Google so I could go from one location to the next, to the next, to the next.

I just went door to door and if anyone was using an appraisal management company, I got the name of the company, who they were sending their appraisal requests to get fulfilled by local appraisers. I built up a huge list that way. That compiled with doing the phone calls, sending out emails, doing searches on the internet, I just built up a very good list of appraisal management companies and I started getting flooded with work.

More Work Than I Could Handle
I had more work than I could handle and it was great because at that time I was starting a new business make money from home and I had my existing company still in California. Occasionally I would drive out to California to do like a $1,000 appraisal because I did not want to just give that to one of my friends or something at the time. I needed the money. Then I showed my directory to my friends and they thought it was really great and suggested I sell it. I realized I should put that on my blog. I went on my blog and I created a sales page, threw it up there and I was making sales from time to time, nothing huge. It was decent. Originally I only offered a book version. Originally I had this book version because I was worried that if people got the book they could easily duplicate it and that would not be good.

The Original Product
In the beginning what set my list aside from other companies is that I put information on how to get more orders from appraisal management companies, errors to avoid, some marketing information, how to get more internet business make money online. I have built it up since the original product went out, but this is the 2011. I think the first one I was not selling a huge amount of them, off of Appraiser Income. I was doing fairly okay and I just thought it is just not selling too well. I was doing more and more marketing and more and more research and just trying to build up information on the website but I still never made it personal. I really kept it super salesy. I just reprinted news and then I started to get frustrated. I got frustrated and started posting that information to my web site about how the appraisal industry is just going down the tubes because these appraisal management companies are now starting to undercut fees. Before when they first came out it was like the standard appraisal fee. Now they are offering less than 50 percent. Then it was down to like 25 percent in some cases and most appraisers just turned down the work. A lot of appraisers had to take it because that is all they could do. So I started blogging more about it on my website and people were getting more and more involved. People would come back to my blog frequently to see what I was talking about or ranting about.

Iron clad guarantee helped sales
I would occasionally market my list of appraisal management companies on my blog and social networks. I list the top 40 companies that send me the most work first and their national companies so if they have the most work in my area most likely they are going to have the same work in your area. I am so sure that my list will get work for all appraisers that I give a 100% money back guarantee. Any one that buys this book, any appraiser that buys this book for $100, if they go through and they sign up to at least in the top 40, it will definitely make them much wealthier. If they go through the whole list they will do very well. Most appraisers are struggling these days to get work and so from the very beginning I said if you do not get work from this, you call me up and you tell me, “Bryan, I’m not getting any work from that appraisal management company directory that you sold me. I’d like my money back.” So just do that. I put my phone number up there and it is never happened – never had one refund.

Getting Personal with my readers really paid off

One of the biggest changes that really influenced the sales on my web site was I wrote this little article and it is just called A Little Bit About Me and I explained the situation of me moving to Arizona and how work completely dried up and I was on the verge of bankruptcy. I had two mortgages, and appraisers really connected with me and they really trusted me. I would share my information on what I did to get these appraisal management companies and how I found them. I would give out some information for free.

Social Marketing really pays off
I am also way into internet marketing work from home so I would make some posts about internet marketing. If you know about internet marketing then you should easily be able to sell internet marketing information to a small niche of people, a small group or subset of people like painters. You could tell painters all day long how to get more business. You will do well. I started to do that and my sales just started to go through the roof. The more involved I got, the more sales I received. It was amazing. It was just like opening the floodgates and orders started flowing in. I really feel that my product adds value and I was thinking of how I can really get this out there.

My website went from getting maybe 50, 100, 200 hits a month to anywhere from 300 to 500 a day and I was doing more and more marketing. I decided to get this out to as many appraisers as possible. I went to LinkedIn and I created a profile. I would start posting to groups about appraisal management companies and getting more work and marketing, what internet marketing for appraiser, just getting involved in the groups, LinkedIn, the forums. This is not taking a huge amount of time. This is like max half hour a day if that – maybe an hour or two a week. Even at that it is not something I committed full time to because I was a full-time appraiser.

I guess I still am a full-time appraiser. I put appraisals usually in front of everything else when I can. So, it really made a huge difference in my business. When I started to consider that it could easily double the income of me being an appraiser, I started to take that way more seriously.

Writing For Magazines
I started writing for magazines which is fairly simple. I contacted an industry magazine and said I would be interested in writing some articles for your appraisers on getting more state work, more AMC work. I got those published and I got links back to my web site for that user printed magazines, but they also have online versions. It made me more recognized in the appraisal industry, that I was being talked more about, people were thanking me for my information and I was getting more orders. Then in the shopping cart that I originally set up to purchase my book, there is an affiliate program already built into it and most shopping carts have this feature. If not, we will cut that out at some point as well.

I could say usually with every email blast to around 10,000 appraisers. It seems to generate around $2,000 worth of income and we could split that 50/50 if you are interested. You can do more email blasts. You could do them twice a week – whatever you want. We could split the income or I could just buy the advertising off of you. About 50 percent of all my marketing now are through the affiliate program. So it works out really well. Some of them I almost wish I could buy the email blast but at this point they just want to do the affiliate split where I would be way more profitable if I just bought the mail blast off of them in the first place. That is what I am kind of focusing on that area right now – just going out finding as many affiliates or people that have lists that I could just buy the email blast from.

Building my list so I can stay in touch

When I email them, they come directly to my list. I could collect their name and email and then I could continue to market to them on a continual basis. I set up an autoresponder, so once they join the list, it is like I call up their appraiser marketing system because I send out a message every week with information on how to get more orders

Episode 4b: Changes to my blog that tripled sales

Letting people know more about myself really helped sales and when I partnered with others to sell my products, sales really went through the roof.

This is the continuation of Episode 4a

Creating My Own Vendor List
At the time I decided to start creating my own list, I had no intention to resell it. My intention was to stay in business. Work pretty much dried up for appraiser once the appraisal management companies took over.

It was a very stressful time, but I knew I just had to hoof the pavement, pick up my phone, try making some phone calls and find as many appraisal management companies as possible. So I started calling appraisers around the country and asking them how are they getting their work. What appraisal management companies are they using? I made sure to call appraisers that were located outside of Arizona. I called all my friends first that were appraisers that are now out of business unfortunately, but at that time they were getting some work trickling in so I first started by calling all them. Then I would call appraisers right out of the phone book and asking them and exchane information.

Becoming more personal increased sales

I was doing more and more marketing and more and more research and just trying to build up information on the website but I still never made it personal. I really kept it super salesy. I just reprinted news and then I started to get frustrated. I got frustrated and started posting that information to my web site about how the appraisal industry is just going down the tubes because these appraisal management companies are now starting to undercut fees. Before when they first came out it was like the standard appraisal fee. Now they are offering less than 50 percent. Then it was down to like 25 percent in some cases and most appraisers just turned down the work. A lot of appraisers had to take it because that is all they could do. So I started blogging more about it on my website and people were getting more and more involved. People would come back to my blog frequently to see what I was talking about or ranting about.

I have had tons of letters from people saying “this completely changed my business; this was a lifesaver”. All it really is is a directory of companies that I did a lot of research to locate them and I keep it updated and now companies contact me from time to time asking how they can get in the directory. Now you could duplicate this easily if you are passionate about something and you show your passion. One of the biggest changes that really influenced the sales on my web site was I wrote this little article and it is just called A Little Bit About Me and I explained the situation of me moving to Arizona and how work completely dried up and I was on the verge of bankruptcy. I had two mortgages, and appraisers really connected with me and they really trusted me. I would share my information on what I did to get these appraisal management companies and how I found them. I would give out some information for free “make money online“.

Episode 4a: Currently my biggest income stream

I never planned on this website to generate as much money as it currently does. It is not one of my most profitable ventures in making money online, but for now it is generating the most income.

Multiple Income Streams
In this episode, I am going to tell you a little bit more information about my current income revenue stream Appraiserincome.com and this is one of my best ones right now. I still have a ton of different streams coming in and they all add up to a nice, but this was one of my first blogs where I really started from scratch, really took my time to build it out. I did not know which direction I was going to take it in and then really started to get more into affiliate marketing make money online , figure out how I could actually monetize the website and it has been a huge success, especially over the past couple of years.

Appraiserincome.com
I am going to talk to you a little bit about Appraiser Income dot com. You can bring it up on your computer if you are there right now and kind of look around. It is not super flashy. It is not even super clean. It is a little bit cluttered. I never really did a huge amount of updating to the template since I started it quite a long time ago, so keep that in mind. Appraisers are not a very tech-savvy group of individuals and I found that sometimes having a website that looks almost amateurish helps with your sales. I once had a website back in the late 90s and it had a really amateurish feel and look to it and that site was raking in the dough.

So I got it professionally redesigned. I still had all the links in primarily the same area. It just looked a lot of clearer and a lot more professional. Had some really nice looking graphics and stuff on it as well and my sales dropped almost in half. It was crazy and it kind of went towards people, the common man type-guys and I think I discouraged some of them or it turned them off from where it was a really an amateurish-looking website to more of a pro-looking corporate website.

I think with the same as Appraiserincome.com people see me and they are able to identify with me. Since I am a real estate appraiser and they do not know necessarily that I am a professional Internet marketer so it, I think this kind of benefits me in this situation. It might not be the case 100 percent. I have not really spent the time that I should to really dig down and optimize this website. I could probably squeeze out another 25 percent or more of orders based on the traffic that I am receiving and the amount of time that people stay on the website reading through the articles. I really feel that I should be able to close more sales but it is working great in the meantime and I am kind of more focused on developing this, Your Boss Blows channel and network. I will be getting back to this, but I am also, my main focus of marketing on this website right now is mainly to get as many affiliates as possible to sign up with me and to either put my advertisements in their printed magazines or put my advertisements up on their website.

Internet Bubble Bursts and I become an Appraiser
The best thing that is working for me right now is if a vendor has a mailing list, if I could get them to promote my product or products directly to their mailing list. I could not only build up my mailing list at the same time but also split whatever sales I make with them and that has been working well. I will go into that a little bit in the future. In 2000, I got Appraiserincome.com and I was an appraiser at about four years at that point, and it was a great industry. I mean there was tons of work out there. I was telling everyone I knew you should become a real estate appraiser. You will really enjoy earn money online this type of work if you are into real estate. It was just being great being outside, being able to do what I want, set my own schedule and it was nice to be able to learn how to value properties, value real estate from my own investments. A lot of my friends are also into real estate as well so everyone I spoke to, people that were suffering at the time after the dot com bust like did I, was tell them you should look into becoming an appraiser. People that I was appraising their houses and they are going through bankruptcy or anything like that and they would ask me how is it to be an appraiser and I’d say, “Oh It is great being an appraiser. You should look in it.”

My First Info Product

I decided at one point to write an eBook laying out all the steps involved on how to become a real estate appraiser. It was nothing that you could not find through research on the Internet. It was not super difficult, but I got the questions so many times off of my Appraiser Income blog that I decided I am going to create a product and sell it to people that are interested so I do not have to keep on sending out the same information or the list of websites. It would probably cut back on some type, and at that time on Appraiserincome.com it was mainly just a few couple of these articles make money online .

I did not make it personal at all. I just kind of sat there and so when I got the product up I put some new news articles out. I did not rewrite them or anything, just copy, pasted them and referred to who the news article came from. I still did not make it personal but it still received enough traffic to be able to make, like, probably $500.00 to $1,000.00 selling that ebook and it went on for a few years.

About 2009, the industry really started to change and you had to have a four-year degree now to become an appraiser. You had to go through all this additional classes and there was a lot of really good things put into effect, but at the same time all of the work started to come from appraisal management companies. To become an appraiser you have to be a trainee for about a year and you have to work under a mentor who will teach you really the ropes of the business. You are learning a bunch in all the classes but you really get the experience by working under the mentor and it is a requirement. You have to do like 2,300 hours of work under a mentor. These appraisal management companies would not allow the use of trainees so it pretty much closed out any new appraisers that are trying to enter the field because the appraisal management companies were now controlling the appraisal orders for all rel estate refinance and purchases for those transactions.

Giving it away for free
I decided to make the product free. I was like, I am going to give this thing away at this point and I put a note up there saying my views have changed towards enter the appraisal field at this point until further changes are made with how trainees can be utilized. It is a dying profession. I mean they are probably going to get rid of the use of appraisers at some point altogether, use computer evaluation models or something, but the reason I am telling you about this is that by focusing on a little niche, I was still able to build up that traffic. It was a fairly smaller segment of people looking for information on becoming an appraiser. There was still a fair amount of people and they had money to spend for that information. They did not have the time or the skills to locate that information for themselves. It was a good ebook that I created. I gave additional value like an appraiser checklist, told them how they should take their photos, common errors to avoid, and how to get a mentor. There is a lot of additional information that I knew about by going through it myself.

You can Duplicate My Efforts
If you have an area of expertise where you think people would be willing to pay for that information and it is a fairly large market earn money online, not super tiny micro niche, then you mostly have, that you could duplicate exactly what I have done with Appraiser Income. You do not have to be an expert but it is definitely a lot easier if you are an expert in that area or if you have a lot of knowledge about that, but it can be anything that you are into. It could be a hobby. It could be just your interests. It could be your passion. What do you normally find yourself talking about when you meet up with friends or when you meet someone new, what do you usually talk about? Sometimes there is a common area that you might cover.

Find your Passion, it might be worth blogging about

I am just a sucker for real estate. Real estate is always in the news. I love real estate. I could talk your ear off about real estate but, it all depends what your passion is. That is mine. Another one of my crazy passions is metal detecting and meteorite hunting and gold detecting and I just like the desert. Anything I can do other than just walk around the desert floor and pick up rocks, even though I do love doing that, I just like doing that type of stuff so. Anyhow, if you have a passion though that you have a lot of information about that you read magazines and books and search online for stuff, that would be a good blog.

I really feel that I could write a very good blog on metal detecting or hunting for gold or meteorites. It is fairly popular right now especially with the way gold prices are going and I could easily monetize that website with all of the tools and equipment and detectors and books that people that have that hobby are into. It is kind of an expensive hobby so it would be a good blog to produce. I just do not have the time to do that right now.

I might do something like that in one of the future episodes when it comes to creating a website completing from scratch but I have not decided which website I want to create for that project because that is a pretty long-term commitment. I want to get it right and I really want to show you how easy it is to get started. I do not know if there is a ton of metal detector affiliate programs out there. I am sure there is quite a few metal detectors I could purchase and resell myself and there might be some low quality metal detectors that you could get through like at Buy.com or you know Target.com and just take advantage of their affiliate plans and stuff.

What I did specifically on Appraiser Income you could do this. It is not the biggest market in the world but by focusing on them they could easily find me when searching for related appraisal news and things along that line. When the appraisal management companies moved into the playing field that was a completely different game and to stay, to continue being an appraiser you had to work with these appraisal management companies to get those orders for refinances and purchases. It is essentially a vendor list.

Every Industry Needs a Vendor’s List
All appraisers needed some type of vendor list or to do the research themselves to find as many of these appraisal management companies and, every industry has something like that. If you are in construction or carpeting or you know a painter or something, there is always a way to locate a vendor list of suppliers, property management companies. There is tons of products and services that cater towards that types of businesses work from home and if you are new to entering that area you are wanting to get on the Internet and get that information as quickly as possible and you will be willing to pay for it especially if it is going to help your business.

If you have a bike repair company, there could be a huge list of vendors for just bicycle parts, but then there could be a whole new list of vendors for really customizable products for bikes. They could all come from China. You could have China distributors that you could order that stuff from and you could sell that list to people that are also in bike repair customization. In every industry there is a vendor list.

Episode 3b: Getting Ready and Getting Organized

I am Bryan Knowlton with yourbossblows.com. This is the continuation of Episode No. 3.

Making money online
I listen to a lot of different podcasts and the people I listen to are not constantly pushing products and services and trying to get you to go to their $1,000 seminars or mentoring program. Just as I do, they will mention different affiliate products or services where they get a small commission of what is sold. This is to cover the cost of the video expenses since the file sizes are huge. If you are planning to get into affiliate marketing using video, you need to find a service where you will be able to put those videos up for free and not totally get booted off it. If you are providing value and good service, you will probably be able to put them up on video sharing sites like You Tube and such, but they are fairly short.

For me to be able to produce these videos, I need to pay for my own bandwidth and my own hosting of the videos. Since they are going on Roku and other internet make money online TV services, I need to also cover the cost of that bandwidth. That is why I mention different affiliate products I use. Hopefully, if you decide to purchase them, they will kick back a little bit of that sale to me. It is usually a very small percentage but it all adds up. If I can open your doors to affiliate marketing you will come back in the future and who knows, maybe we will do business together. We will see how everything goes. Rate Me in iTune

This is my first time really doing a video other than short little videos, so we are both learning together. I hope to teach you everything I know about making money online because it has really changed my life and it only keeps getting better.

The Netbook
If you are doing this and you have a laptop computer, I really like the idea of working off the little notebook computers because they are really small and compact. You can take them anywhere. You do not look super goofy walking around all over town with this little tiny netbook. They are small and they can go anywhere. You can get a cool little case that looks like a day planner or something. I just really like using those products. The key though is to get one that has a good amount of memory. If it does not come with at least 2 gig or more, you could always buy it. It is really easy to open up the back and slide in a different memory chip. Those are the drawbacks to having one of those. You do not want to make it a full-time computer, but it is a good extra computer to have.

Double Monitors
Maybe you will be using multiple computers as I do. I have a desktop at home. I keep this presentation on a laptop just because when I go away on the weekend or if I go out of town, I like to have my work computer with me. I sometimes need to change things related to doing the appraisal reports and if I do not have it with me then it is kind of a pain. It just gives me more freedom to do what I want and that really works out well. I can complete an appraisal anywhere in the country or do any revisions on an appraisal and submit it without a problem. I can be completely out of town. So that is what I do at my office and I try to keep my office fairly clean and organized. It just makes things easier and the dual-monitor display really helps out. I have them turned vertical because my files are legal size for the appraisals. It is really simple for me to have my work file on one monitor and then have any data sources on the other. But when I am doing my affiliate marketing work from home, or anything on the internet, I can split this down into four screens and you will be surprised by the amount of time that you will save when you do not have to go and find the window that you are in – just constantly flipping windows over and over each other. I just have them all open in different windows. I get things done so much faster, writing reviews and building websites, and I do a lot of building blogs or blog-type sites.

Get Serious
I could have a couple different information sources open, to include my blogs and my affiliate programs. It saves you a ton of time and it really does not cost that much. The monitors I have are like 21 inches, but they look like 21 to 23 inches. They are only like $125.00 and the display adapter is just a little video splitter that plugs into my laptop. I could have it go through USB. It is not a splitter, just a USB adapter. I have one coming off the laptop display and then the other one through the USB display. It works out really well. I could have three monitors if I want. If I wanted to use my laptop monitor too, but that I tried it for like a day and it was just totally different size, distracting off to the side, just didn’t work, but that will speed up your productivity quite a bit. But you want to have it at a nice quiet location inside of your house, away from all the distractions, no TV. If you are really serious about getting this done you are not going to be sitting in front of the TV working on your laptop, it just does not work. I mean you are going to be so distracted it is going to take you forever to get anything done. If you are just clearing out email or doing some random stuff, then, you could probably sit down with the wife and kids while everyone’s watching TV, and do some random stuff. But if you want to get work done, the sooner that you get an area set aside inside of your house, the quicker you will start making money online. Just away from everything, away from the distractions, and set a time that you are going to do it. Make it just like a job. This is your new job, if you really want it to work. Set those hours. If you are going to wake up every day at 4:00 and work a few hours before you go into work, then do that. If you are going to work in the evening after everyone goes to sleep, do that, but set the time, set the hours. If you are single, or unemployed, then you can start tomorrow and you could work non-stop until you make your first buck, and you could not give up at all and you will be surprised by next week, you will have money coming in.

Password Management
So there are a lot of things that you could do, but you need to stay focused. You need to be very productive and having that extra computer on your lap or when you are out getting an oil change, or before or after work, even at work during little coffee breaks, if you are not able to schedule that time because of constraints or anything like that you will still be able to get that work done and that little notebook computer will help you. I own all those computers. I think that is what I was starting on before. As I said, I have this computer here, a notebook at home, and a desktop at home. I use Robo Form for all my password management. I think I might have mentioned it on a show before. You could get all the information at freepasswordmanagement.com, but Robo Form is amazing. I know I said it before because I remember saying it before. I have 300, 400, I have so many passwords. It is probably closer to 500 or something, but you could click right down here, you can click on the log in. It is going to bring every website that you have a log in to. I have to go onto the next page. So I have six columns full of user names and passwords.

Just imagine if I had to try to remember all my user names make money online fast and passwords. That would be complete insanity. I mean I would never get any work done. I would be completely lost and it would just be horrible. I used to keep a text file with all my user name and password and that is not very safe or secure or anything like that. At least Robo Form you could access it on any computer. So I have it on each of my computers. If you go out of town or you do not have a computer, you could log into the Robo Form anywhere in the country on any computer and get your user name and passwords. So that is always nice. I keep backups on my end and they keep backups on their end. The files are encrypted so you do not need to worry about it.

Drop Box
The other software I use is Drop Box. I cannot live without it. Drop Box, if you have not heard of it, is just cloud storage, and it is free cloud storage. You get up to 2 gigabytes of data and if you use it efficiently you will never go over the 2 gigabytes. You do not need to store stuff there. You could, but you do not need to store big stuff there. You can put stuff that you are always accessing and changing, and stuff, like if I am working on new projects, writing books or whatever, I will keep all that stuff there so I can locate it from any computer. Anything that I am currently working on I keep on Drop Box, and you could access it from any computer. Lately I have been writing some new information products for appraisers. So I will work on it a little bit at home and then I will work on it a little bit on the desktop, and I will work on it a little bit on my notebook, and I am accessing the same file every time. So I do not have to hunt it down. I do not have to email it to myself. So that is a really good time saver. Other people use it for storing everything, put all their music on there. It can not be very expensive. People use it for gigantic files. A lot of people even do it for video editing, so a file like this might be like 700/800 gigs. They will just put them up there and then someone else could access it. You could give a temporary user name, password to someone else. It is different from giving access a public area and they could edit it and send it back to you. There are tons of different reasons to use Drop Box and if you ever come into a situation where you need to give someone large files, it is great for that. You do not have to email stuff. You could just email a link directly to your Drop Box folder that they will have temporary access to only that folder, not the whole thing. They will not be able to see everything. So it is just great. So check that out too at dropbox.com.

So that is going to give you some direction this week. What I would really like you to do this week is just get something done. I really suggest you try the Amazon review stuff. It is going to take you a little extra work, but it is going to teach you the foundation of affiliate marketing. You are going to learn about the domaining, the hosting, that is really going to get you off the ground. If your first couple projects you are not going to make a bunch of money off of. If you really know about a certain type of product , like power tools, as I stated before, or you have an expensive hobby, you are going to be able to write about those items with authority and you do not ever want to just cut and paste, and copy anyone’s information. You want to create value, create your own contact. If you copy someone else’s it is not going to get into the search engines anyhow and you might even get sued.

Trash Out
If you look up the different products that I spoke about last week, those are a great thing to start off with. I really like the Amazonian profit plan just because you are going to get the foundation set in stone, right from the beginning on how to get into affiliate marketing. The EBay stuff is really great though for making a quick buck and also if you have some experience in a certain area as well, that product will show you how to make the most money with it. So, if you have, if you come across people all day and night that have used Legos, then you could be rich by this time next year. A lot of people, even, I heard of one guy in real estate that does trash out services for foreclosures, so he will offer to work for next to nothing to do a trash out on a house, as long as he gets those jobs. So he will go to a vendor that needs the trash out services. They will normally pay someone $500.00 to $1,000.00 to do trash out services. He will try to get those projects for next to nothing. He will charge like $100.00 or $200.00 just so he can get all the trash in these houses because sometimes they leave behind really valuable stuff and he has a little niche of being able to sell that stuff. So if you have those type of industry ends and you know how to sell what you are left with, then you could end up making a good living, and he makes a pretty good living. That is just one little thing.

Episode 3b: Getting Ready and Organized

Get Ready, Get Organized and Get the Money. I lay out the steps I follow to get ready on a new project on how to make money online and how I set up my office. There are some great FREE products that can help.

Providing Value is the Key
I listen to a lot of different podcasts and the people I listen to are not constantly pushing products and services and trying to get you to go to their $1,000 seminars or mentoring program. Just as I do, they will mention different affiliate products or services where they get a small commission of what is sold. This is to cover the cost of the video expenses since the file sizes are huge. If you are planning to get into affiliate marketing using video, you need to find a service where you will be able to put those videos up for free and not totally get booted off it. If you are providing value and good service, you will probably be able to put them up on video sharing sites like You Tube and such, but they are fairly short.

For me to be able to produce these videos make money online, I need to pay for my own bandwidth and my own hosting of the videos. Since they are going on Roku and other internet TV services, I need to also cover the cost of that bandwidth. That is why I mention different affiliate products I use. Hopefully, if you decide to purchase them, they will kick back a little bit of that sale to me. It is usually a very small percentage but it all adds up. If I can open your doors to affiliate marketing you will come back in the future and who knows, maybe we will do business together. We will see how everything goes. Using a Netbook
If you are doing this and you have a laptop computer, I really like the idea of working off the little notebook computers because they are really small and compact. You can take them anywhere. You do not look super goofy walking around all over town with this little tiny netbook. They are small and they can go anywhere. You can get a cool little case that looks like a day planner or something. I just really like using those products. The key though is to get one that has a good amount of memory. If it does not come with at least 2 gig or more, you could always buy it. It is really easy to open up the back and slide in a different memory chip. Those are the drawbacks to having one of those. You do not want to make it a full-time computer, but it is a good extra computer to have. Get Serious
I could have a couple different information sources open, to include my blogs and my affiliate programs. It saves you a ton of time and it really does not cost that much. The monitors I have are like 21 inches, but they look like 21 to 23 inches. They are only like $125.00 and the display adapter is just a little video splitter that plugs into my laptop. I could have it go through USB. It is not a splitter, just a USB adapter. I have one coming off the laptop display and then the other one through the USB display. It works out really well. I could have three monitors if I want. If I wanted to use my laptop monitor too, but that I tried it for like a day and it was just totally different size, distracting off to the side, just didn’t work, but that will speed up your productivity quite a bit. Setting Goals to Earn Money Online

This week on Episode 3a: Goal Setting, Chunking & Mind Mapping, I am going to talk about what you want to do so you can maintain your focus as an entrepreneur. As entrepreneurs we are always attracted to what is shiny and new. A new way about how to make money online or do a new type of marketing will often catch our attention and cause a distraction. But you have to stay focused if you are going to earn money online and be a successful Internet marketer and successful affiliate marketer. It would be great if you can take some time aside right now, before you get started in your quest to earn money online and start setting goals.

If you just walked into this doing research and you are not 100% sure of the direction you are going to take, then I really suggest doing what I mentioned last week – the Amazon and EBay stuff. That is going to get you right into doing affiliate marketing and you will get a little taste of success and you will never go back.

Once you make your first $1 – and everyone remembers their first $1 that they made off of the Internet – you will start setting goals like:

$10 a day by July 15th
1000 members on my list in February
$100 a day in December
5 new product reviews per week
1 blog post a week
10 article submissions a week
2 guest blog posts a month
1 printed magazine submission a month

This is really what you need to do in the beginning. Set obtainable goals that you will be able to complete with some good old fashioned hard work. You don’t want to set to easy of goals to submit, you definitely want to push yourself, but don’t overdue it. Nothing will stop your progress more than if your goals start to back up and pretty soon you are missing a bunch of goals and just give up. You also need to break down your goals so they are obtainable and you know what steps will be required prior to starting. This will help you to obtain your goals.

Chunking will help you get the job done!

If you have a huge to-do list with billions of things to do, you really need to set up goals for each of them break down that goal into smaller goals or smaller lists. It is called chunking. If you have something that is going to take you a week to get done, you are going to want to break it down into much smaller steps; maybe by day and then break those down further into hourly tasks. Getting each task completed will make you feel GREAT and will keep the ball rolling. Just imagine going down that checklist and GETTING THINGS DONE! You are now on the road to making money online.

MindMeister – mapping your mind

In addition to the chunking, I have been using some software that helps me stay focused and get the job done. It is called MindMeister. You could use it to set out your projects and then you can go in there and edit. It is very easy just to add additional trees off of the main tree whether is it an item or goal. It is really simple to use. I am constantly breaking down my projects into chunks and sometimes I will be writing things down on paper and trying to keep it all as neat as possible. By the time I get finished, it looks completely messy. It is hard to set the due dates and things like that and I just recently started using My Meister.

It is very powerful software. It might even give you the ability to send reminders and when things are going to become due. I have heard different little things about it. Right now I am just using it for developing an idea for chunking things down. I also write information products for appraisers. When I start to write my information product, say it is going to be a book about how to get more Internet work off the Internet. That is my title and I will start going down through the different steps that I use to get more business off the Internet and it could be through just posting to Craigslist. It could be through search engine optimization of my web site. It could be by locating attorneys and even bail bondsman and estate managers. There are tons of different ways that you can do it. What I will do is put that down into a Mind Map and it is really easy to organize that way. You could even do three. This tree is like three deep. You could keep going and keep going and by the time you finish, you could type in whole text in there if you like.

By the time I finish setting up my structure, I can print it out and it is like a table of contents. It gives me my outline of exactly what I need to do. I use it for developing shows, like what I would like talk about. It gives me that structure on what I would like to talk about, where I am going with my ideas, so I can remain focused on everything I want to cover. It is a really good program. That is one good service I use, but what I really like to make me really more productive is to buy hardware – those small notebook computers. Those could really increase your productivity. The way that I use them is I use it whenever I am going to get my oil changed or I am working at night and/or early in the morning or I have a quick idea I want to swap something out. I try not to spend all of my extra time just work, work from home , work because I do have children and a wife and I like to have fun and that’s the joy of being self-employed and being an entrepreneur and earning passive income. It does free up the time so you could do whatever you want whenever you want, but you still have to work hard. It is not super easy.

As I stated before, it is not a get rich quick unless you really just stumble upon something that happens to be hot, hot, hot, but it does require a lot of work. The amount of return that you see is going to directly coincide with how much work you put into it. I have talked to people that have tried affiliate marketing in the past or done Internet marketing and they have said I just did not have any success. I did not have the time to put into it. I tried it for a little while and then just gave up. If you want this to be your fulltime gig in the future, then you need to commit the time to making it happen and it comes down to dedication. If you really need it to happen, then you will make it happen. That is what it comes down to.

Sometimes it is hard when you are already employed. You have a job and you are thinking I am going to do this on the side. You put in a little bit of work here and there. You are still making money online . You are able to pay your bills, so you say I will get to that tomorrow. You will be surprised how fast and how productive and how quickly you can turn things around when you are not in that situation. If you are going to lose your house or you just lost your job or you cannot make ends meet, you are going to do whatever it takes to make sure that gets done – that t you do not perfuse your situation unless you just give up.

Unfortunately a lot of people do that, but there is a lot of time in the day that you could focus towards making money online or I would not even be here telling you that it is possible. I am sure you already know that it is possible. Otherwise, you would not be watching these videos. But it is very possible. It just takes time. It takes work and the harder you work, the quicker it is going to happen. If you really think about how much time you have, maybe you have a job, say working eight hours a day, how much time do you sleep, maybe sleep eight hours a day, food, eating, all that stuff, maybe another hour or two a day. You can usually break down how much time that you have on a daily basis to get things done and I know when I was stuck in a really bad situation where I was going to lose everything, I worked my butt off and I turned my life around very quickly. I am now doing way better than I could have ever imagined back then. You just have to work hard. Just work hard at it. Get started – Step No. 1 and just work hard and good things will happen.

The more that you do things, the more opportunities are going to open up to you. The more you put yourself out there, you are just going to get more earn money online and more opportunities. You will brainstorm for new ideas. You will meet people through doing the Internet marketing or affiliate marketing that will help you and give you free tips and advice. You learn stuff left and right when you are online.

I listen to quite a few Podcasts while I am doing my appraisals when I am driving around. I do not really listen to them other than that, but I pick up a lot of good information. I have actually spoke with a couple of people that do the shows and not everyone is trying to sell you something all the time. I mention affiliate links through my shows from time to time to hopefully cover the expense of the video. The videos are very expensive.

This week on Episode 3 I am going to talk about what you want to do so you can maintain your focus as an entrepreneur. What I want to start you off with is just about setting some goals.

That is going to get you right into doing affiliate marketing and you will get a little taste of success and you will never go back. Once you make your first $1 – and everyone remembers their first $1 that they made off of the Internet – you will start setting goals like I need $10 a day. I need $100 a day. I need $500 a day. I need $1,000 a day. It does not have to be just money goals, but it is the simplest way for me. I don’t know why I have always thought in dollars. It is the easiest way I set most of my goals. Of course, completing projects is always very rewarding.

Chunking

If you instead have a huge to-do list with billions of things to do, it is good to set a goal for something that you want to get completed and then break down that goal into smaller goals or smaller lists. It is called chunking. I am also going to talk about my office set up and how you can get more work done at home if you are just doing this part time. You are not going to have an office dedicated towards making money online or affiliate marketing, Internet marketing. So, I am going to talk to you a little bit about that. This is going to be a little bit of a shorter show because I am going to really start driving into the step-by-step instructions. I thought there were a few more things I needed to cover and I am going to try to put out all these videos at once. I am not going to let them trickle out once every week or once every month. I am going to try and put them all out at the same time. Chances are you will just be watching these in order anyhow.

MindMeister

Episode 2b: Getting the most out of Ebay Auctions

How to Make Money online on Ebay! That is another really simple way to get started selling online. This is the continuation of Episode No. 2. In this part of the show I am going to tell you about eBay and why I use them. Ever since Ebay opened their doors I have sold products there on and off. These days I use it primarily to fund my hobby and software purchases – things that I necessarily do not NEED, so I sell some of my old stuff to buy some new stuff.

Everyone Has Stuff to Sell on Ebay

Everyone has a lot of extra stuff – things you have not used for years. Go through your office, your car, your shed, and your garage and hunt that stuff down. If you have never sold anything on eBay, just make a little pile of about 20-30 items. Try to pick stuff that you really think people would like. If you are looking to make some good bank on eBay, you might try looking through something you think would be collectible, then look through electronics, old games, baseball cards, old stuff you collected in the past. That is always good stuff but people are always buying that stuff on eBay. You might even have some vintage clothing laying around.

You can really sell anything on ebay. I have so much extra electronic stuff and old kids toys that I will usually donate it to a thrift store or to some people in the neighborhood who do frequent garage sales just to unload my stuff. From time to time when I want to get that extra toy for myself, I will sell stuff on eBay. So get those items together earn money online because you have to give it a try. Who knows, you might love it and possibly can make it in to a full-time gig.

Getting Help with Information Products
There are tons of informational products on how to make money selling on ebay. Just like the Amazonian Profit View system; without that information, I doubt you would be able to take a review site to the level. Paula and Wanda, at the time they created their book were making over $10,000.00 a month just doing reviews on Amazon. They have not been Internet marketers or affiliate marketers for their whole lifetime. They just started doing it, figured out what worked, and kept on getting better and wrote a book on it. It is less than 100 bucks, and it is great information.

The thing about eBooks and why I buy them is that you can spend all the time in the world doing research on the Internet. If you are thinking about doing affiliate marketing work from home or you have been an affiliate marketer, you could easily volunteer that trap – that hole – doing way too much research.

If you really want to get things done and make money and have an edge above the competition, it is worth spending 20, 30, 50, a 100 bucks to get that edge and to learn from people that have done these things and make a full-time living off of it.

I used to do tons of research and I would procrastinate. There would always be something slowing me down until I started really trying to focus my energy on it. A few years back I heard someone mention that if they got one little nugget of information out of an eBook that they did not know before, or might never come across, it is well worth the cost of the information product.

It made complete sense to me and really hit home. I do not just go out randomly and buy all these eBooks. I do a fair amount of research when it comes to affiliate marketing earn money online . I stay up to date on what is selling and what is working. I listen to podcasts with really good internet marketers that do reviews as well.

There are a bunch of forums on the Internet that you will eventually come across. Some will teach you how to make money on eBay. I will tell you about them as we get to that point. There are even places where affiliates will review an affiliate’s products. You can a lot of really good information that way. If there is something that is working really well, like the Amazonian Profit Plan, you just have to give it a try.

Anyone Can Make Money Selling On EBay
Let us get back to the eBay stuff. Mark Ostrovsky, author of the affiliate marketing bible, “Get Rich Click,” mentioned that anyone can get started on eBay these days. He had a unique perspective; You can go to a local business and find items you believe people in other areas throughout the country or world would be interested in buying.

Take a picture of that item and post an auction up on eBay. As long as that supplier is always going to have that item, you can start selling those products. You could eventually work out special deals with those people that are selling those products and get them for less money so you could make more money online . There are a lot of different ways to make money selling on ebay. If you are trying to learn how to make money on eBay, keep watching!

I have heard of people selling stuff from thrift stores. I sell stuff occasionally that I find at swap meets and garage sales. The other day I was walking around the neighborhood with my kids and there was someone selling this big box of old books. I decided to check them out. They were leather bound and looked kind of cool. One of them said “Magazine of Art 1887″ and it was a whole series of books with art in them from around the world. I thought they would really be cool to check out and have my kids look at as well. There were a lot of really neat pictures in there, and it explains about the different art, artists, and museums throughout the world.

I did not know how much he wanted for them at that time. I decided to do a quick little search using my Smart Phone. I went to eBay and I searched for ‘Magazine of Art 1887′. I think at that time there was one with a few bids around $24. Then another one I found on Google that the guy was selling one for around $75.00 (not even the whole series). I figured they were cool and I really wanted to check them out. I was hoping I could sell them for like $35.00 each book. So I asked the lady, “How much do you want for this box of books?” and she answered $2.00. So I bought them. Every once in a while I list them for sale on ebay. Most of the books were in good condition and the first time I tried doing the eBay auction I just kind of threw it up there. I put them all up for $300.00 and did not get any action. Then I put them up for sale individually and sold them for $25.00 each. I still have three left. You will be surprised at the different things you can find and sell on ebay.

I recently came across a great eBook that really focuses on being an eBay PowerSeller and how to make money on eBay.

EBay Fortune – the eBook
I just read a new eBook and I wish I would have had this information back when I was selling a lot of stuff on eBay. It was not available at the time. No eBay powersellers were sharing their information at that point, but Tom Barnes has been an eBay powerseller for a long time now. He has been doing eBay for over ten years and he decided to write a little informational product make money online about how to sell on ebay and sell that product on eBay as well and teach other people how to really make a bunch of money by using eBay.

Selling on ebay definitely is not dead. There are a bunch of tips and techniques that he gives in his new e-book called eBay Fortune and I really recommend this product if you are thinking of selling on eBay. You do not have to go out and get it right away. I really suggest pulling together a bunch of stuff that you are looking to sell anyhow just so you can get that extra money to buy hosting for a year, maybe some hardware, maybe some software like Market Samurai and to get those ten first positive feedback points.

Then you will get your star and you will be a trusted seller. You really need to get that feedback before you start trying to sell those high ticket items. Tom Barnes will tell you about getting started and since you are new to selling on ebay, what you could do to overcome your buyers being worried about you having like no feedback points. There are some tips and techniques that he shows you that will help your buyers fears or hesitation. This book will really help you learn how to make money on eBay.

There is an eBook for Everything
There are a lot of different ways to make money online. I recently heard on Pat Flynn’s passive income podcast he was talking to some guy and he sells only Legos on ebay. This guy makes over $100,000.00 a year just selling Legos. When I was doing my research a few months back, I was trying to increase the sales on ebay. That was my initial goal – just to increase the amounts that I was getting for the products that I was putting up on eBay.

I was thinking someone must have written something about this. There are tips and techniques for everything you do on the Internet. You do not want to waste your time on research. I quickly found that out, and if I can buy someone else’s information, purchasing their knowledge, their experience, their expertise in that area, I’m going to do it. So I bought Tom Barnes’ book. It is less than 50 bucks, and it really put an edge on my listings. I finally figured it out. Before I was always questioning whether I should list this at a penny, should I list at $5.00, should I list it as a ‘buy it now’ type listing. His ebook really takes the guess out of the game and you will make more money with it – at least I did.

I was trying to unload an old Atari 2600 with like 30 games that I just bought at a garage sale. I bought the whole thing for 10 bucks. You could do this anywhere. You could go to garage sales and sell that stuff. If you are all into the storage wars show on the discovery channel, those guys sell stuff on eBay left and right. If you were into the storage container purchasing, ebay is a great way to unload stuff that has really good value.

Collectible sales go through the roof on eBay. You can sell anything. You can sell Legos. There is even an eBook on just selling Legos on eBay. I have not bought that one but I will probably get that one next. I have a lot of Legos! There is an eBook on just buying stuff at Big Lots. I don’t know if you have a Big Lots in your area but I have one within walking distance of my house, and they sell closeout items and things like that. I have often seen a few things that were on closeout that was really below market value. I thought I should buy it and sell it, but I did not. I really don’t need another way to make money online right now. I mainly sell on ebay to buy my extra hardware, new computers, iPods and stuff like that. I did not want to focus on starting an eBay business again. There is even an eBook on buying stuff at thrift stores just targeting that area. There are many different aspects that you can take this. But first you have to learn how to sell on ebay.

How to Make Money on Ebay for Beginners

He really wrote the book for the beginner, but intermediate sellers on eBay will learn a thing or two. I would have considered myself an intermediate ebay seller, but the tips and advice that he gives could really bring you to the expert level. He wrote about something I did not even know about. It is called the “wanted now” section. People that want an item will go and make a post here and you could try to find it for them and sell it to them. Even better if you already have it; just turn and sell it to them right then. I never even knew of this section. He writes about how you can use eBay stores for doing upsells and get return customers, how to negotiate with sellers and suppliers to get better deals.

There is the art of negotiation and he gives you simple tips on how to get better deals. He even gives you photo-taking tips. I am not going to go into the details of what he said because this is his product and his information. I am just going to give you a quick breakdown of the highlights that I found were really valuable to me:

how to look up average selling prices of items before you list it : do not list it blindly
the different ways to list your product
the different listing options
tips on what to do and what to avoid when posting
when to use the auction-type format versus fixed-type format
auction links for different products
where to find listing specials and when to take advantage of them

In the continuation of Episode No. 2, I talk to you about selling on EBay and why I decided to use them. I explain the ease of getting started on eBay with just the items you already possess. I suggest you look around your house, your office, your car, your shed, and especially your garage. Pull out 20 to 30 items and pick out the things you really think people will want to buy. I remind you that people will buy just about anything on EBay. I also give you other alternatives to finding items to sell, such as going to thrift stores, swap meets, garage sales and Big Lots. You can find items just about any place.

I teach you how to rely on the experience and expertise of others by purchasing eBooks. I explain that there is an eBook on just about everything. I explain the value of using research conducted by others instead of spending countless hours performing your own research, which is a waste of time and energy. I share various eBooks I have purchased and some of the information I have gained from them. I explain that just gaining a nugget or two from the eBook is worth the price itself and the time it saved of not having to research it.

Episode 2a – How to make some easy money online!
Wohoo, on to Episode 2! I am really excited about this episode because I am going to share two techniques I use to make money online. It is always nice if you are starting this venture out fresh and you do not want to put a lot of money into it or do not have any money to put into it. You can follow these simple techniques to actually get started making money online.

Two Simple Techniques to make money online

With these two simple techniques you will be able to make enough extra money to purchase affiliate software, like Market Samurai – a great product that I am always talking about which will really set you above the competition and give you tons of research leverage.

I am always going to be talking about Market Samurai since I just really love it. Sometimes at night when I am thinking about one of my websites and how to improve it, I can’t wait to get onto Market Samurai to find out what my competition is up to. It is really kind of crazy, but I love using it, so I am going to try to do a detailed tutorial at some point in the future on using it and taking advantage of everything that it has to offer. You can get a free trial in the meantime. You really want to check it out.

Today what I want to talk to you about is doing reviews of products to make money online. This will teach you how to get your foot in the door by learning how to use hosting, buying a domain name, and installing WordPress. These are really simple things that I am going to be showing you in detail over the next few shows. But at this point I still want to give you something easy to do to make money online using some of the techniques I use to make an extra buck. We will get into more detailed techniques in future episodes.

You could use either of these techniques part-time to bring in some extra cash, or you can make them full-time gigs with a little more work. There are a lot of people who are using both of these techniques as a full-time job independently of each other. A lot of people do reviews for a living and they just sell affiliate products and earn a commission off of each sale.

Selling on EBay and writing Amazon Product Reviews

A lot of people sell on eBay for a living and they even stick to just one product. It is really insane and the technique of making money online with ebay is not dead by far. Writing review products for Amazon was also very huge at one point. I was doing fairly well writing reviews and selling Amazon products. I was even selling information products on Amazon, and it got to a point when the competition moved in and it became a lot harder to make money just linking to amazon products.

I was not really following super-detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to maximize my income, so once it got to a certain level where I was not happy with what I was making; I just went into a new direction. But there is a lot of information out there now. There are a lot of power sellers sharing their information. You could quickly learn the techniques they use to maximize their profit on eBay and Amazon and it can be your key to making money online.

I’m a real estate appraiser, as I stated in a previous show, and I still go to houses where these people are making a living selling products on EBay. I walk in their house and they have all their products in one room that is dedicated to this and it is just filled with products. Most of the people I have seen doing it as a full-time living were selling either new or used computer equipment. I do not know why; it is just what I have come across. It would probably be one of the worst ideas at this point to focus on selling only computer equipment. The profit margins are small and there are much better items with higher profit margins to make money selling on ebay. But if you can get any product with a significant discount like they were, you could make a full-time living selling products on ebay.

Amazonian Profit Plan
Not too long ago I was listening to a podcast on Coffee Talk with James Martel. He was interviewing Paula and Wanda, their friends from Australia. They were talking about how they write reviews for Amazon products. They start off doing detailed research, pick their products, and will write five product reviews at a time.

They usually state – just do five at a time – you will be able to get them done. You can focus all your time and energy into those and they do phenomenal. They are very experienced writing product reviews. They have done a lot of work perfecting their strategy on making money from Amazon. I love the hearing about their story so much I had to buy their instructional book on how to make money with Amazon. The book is called the Amazonian Profit Plan. It is filled with tons of information. One tip that they suggested was sticking to products that are between $300 to $500 to maximize your return. They really focused on using Amazon because Amazon is a very trusted company. Almost everyone buys stuff on Amazon; everybody trusts Amazon.

There are a number of different networks that sell products similar to Amazon, but Amazon has to be one of the most trusted online stores and almost everyone has used them at one point. In addition to it being so trusted, people tend to do a lot of shopping on Amazon. If you review a product and someone comes to your website and clicks on it, they go over to Amazon. They decide to get that digital camera with the 50x zoom and they buy accessories for the camera. They might buy extra lenses, extra batteries, memory chips, bags, and if it is around Christmas, they may do their Christmas shopping.

You will get a cut of all those sales, not just that one product that you referred them to Amazon through. That cookie lasts for a while. Different affiliate networks will store a cookie on the buyer’s computer for a certain amount of time. Even if they do not buy that day, if they come back within a day or two (whenever the cookie expires) then you will still get the commission on those sales.

It is really amazing and that is why people write these reviews to make money online. It is not just for that one product that they are making the money on, it is from everything that is purchased at that time. If you are a techie person or are into gadgets or an expert in any specific area, Amazon has something for sale in that area.

When you write your review you can even list a number of different products. You could create a shopping list on the website like Amazon that they could just go in and see your list of recommended products. They could buy them all at once, and you will get a commission on the entire sell, so it could end out working really well. I love doing product reviews to make money online. It is something I do on the side, but I just got some software that should speed up the process. I will show that in an upcoming episode as well.

Amazon Associates Program

Amazon does not have the best commissions in the world, but I have heard numerous people, in addition to Paula and Wanda mention that they have tried other affiliate networks as well, but they just do not make as much even though they might be getting a much larger commission. People just trust shopping online with Amazon.

You are going to learn how to write good reviews and posting them. You are going to learn how to do all aspects of submitting a review to article networks and getting traffic. If you are going to be posting these to your blog, then you are going to need to buy a domain name, a website, install WordPress, or you could go to a place like WordPress.com and do it from there. Just double check their terms of service. Come to think of it, I don’t know if you can do affiliate sales there.

I suggest that if you are really serious about getting started and making money online, use this opportunity to take your first steps. Buy a domain name, get the proper hosting at a place like http://www.mybluehosting.com, install a WordPress blog and start building it up.

That is how you are going to learn – by doing, by executing. You are not going to get anywhere if you do not take action – so take action! Give it a try. You can get the book at AmazonianProfitReview.com.

One of the products I recently did a review on was a roller measurer. My blog is mainly focused towards appraisers, so I did a little review on this product. I try to give them away to my readers from time to time because I really love the product. It is lightweight and makes measuring a whole lot easier. It is all mechanical so you do not have to worry about digital products breaking or the batteries dying. The digital ones I had bought at Home Depot would break fairly quickly. Paula and Wanda normally would not suggest a product like this because it is only around $25 or $30 for this roller measurer. You are not going make very much money from selling something that inexpensive unless there are a number of upsells. I mainly put it up on my page and as an afterthought added my affiliate links. I make a little money online from listing it, and from time to time I get a buyer that picks up some other stuff.

One product can cover your hosting costs for a year
If I could get something to pay for the hosting of a website, just off the sale of some roller measurers, then I am going do it. You can get all the photos from amazon, along with a description and specifications. You do not have to buy the product. You can even go through all the comments and use what people have said about the product. You could list all that information on your review. The pros and the cons really help. You could also say if you are looking for this specific feature that this product does not offer, you can also refer them to something else. As long as you are adding value, you will make sales. Of course you have to completely rewrite everything and maybe even search the internet for more information that can be added in your review. Some people will go to a local store to take pictures using the display model. There area a lot of different techniques that will help you make money online.

You could always buy the products if you are interested in having them yourself and then do a more complete review of it. You could do video reviews that way, which are really popular and easy to rank.

What I really do suggest, if you are serious, just get a domain name. Get the hosting. What Paula and Wanda usually suggest is if you are going to stick with something like power tools and you are into power tools and know a lot about them, then buy a domain specifically for that, like powertoolreviews. Something that is available, of course. You can also make the website specific on only one product. It is only going to cost you the amount you pay for the domain name annually. Once you buy hosting, you can usually host unlimited websites there. I

I got my hosting at Blue Host for some of my websites and I host unlimited domain names on there. You can buy a domain name. You can buy five different domain names for each of the five products that you are going to review the first time. You could stick to it. If they all have the same thing in common, like power tools, you could make it a power tools-type site. They also said you could make it just kind of like a generic review site where you have a whole bunch of different products that you are doing reviews for. They tell you how to set up for your templates to maximize yourself.

If you are still looking for hosting, I suggest you watch this little video I made about Website Hosting. Their customer service is amazingly fast and the hosting is very inexpensive. You cannot ask for more.

I have tried numerous different hosting companies over the year and have gotten stuck with really poor service. One off the top of my head is 1-on-1 Hosting. I do not mean to call anyone out, but they have never improved their services. You will find their ads in every computer magazine, such as Entrepreneur, Inc and every magazine out there that is geared towards being an entrepreneur or computer related topics. Their servers are so amazingly slow and their hosting fees are the same cost as BlueHost or HostGator. You do not want to waste your time trying out different hosts and getting really poor service. Two simple techniques I use to make money online and how you can also! I used to do this full time, but now only use them to fund my new hardware and software purchases. It will give you the necessary experience needed to get started making money online.

In episode No. 2 I share two simple techniques I use to make extra money online – writing reviews on products and selling through ebay.

I show you how an eBook called the Amazonian Profit Plan revolutionized my selling business. I share some of the benefits I garnered from this eBook, including how to write reviews for Amazon products and get paid and how to get paid from the creation of shopping lists. I also give you alternatives if the Amazon Associate Program is not available in your area. I explain that just a few of the other affiliate networks I have used are Buy.com, ShareASale, LinkShare, ClickBank, and Commission Junction.

I recommend using Blue Host or Host Gator as your hosting service and avoiding 1-on-1 because they have poor service and extremely slow servers. I continue to share techniques on choosing a domain name for your product reviews. If you are a technical expert or you specialize in any area, I recommend conducting product reviews along those lines. However, I also show you the secrets of finding the information you need in order to write an excellent review without ever purchasing the product itself.

Episode 1: Earn Money Online – The Introduction

In this first episode, I give you my background and let you know what you can expect in upcoming shows. There is no magic bullet, but I will show you how to make money online with my step-by-step video tutorials.

There is No Magic Bullet
Howdy! I am Bryan Knowlton with http://yourbossblows.com. This is Episode No.1. and I am going to give you a little bit of background information on me, how I have made my money online, a little bit of history about how long I have been doing this, and the different steps that I am going to show you to create a passive income online.

When I decided I wanted to start teaching people how to make money online, I wanted to give 100% of my techniques and let you know what you need to do to earn money online. My plans are to show you from start to finish, many different ways to make money online.

It will be up to you to JUST DO IT and get started in one of the areas where I have had experience making some good money online.

There is no magic bullet. There are plenty of ‘get rich quick’ schemes out there, but I don’t believe any of them work. You can get lucky and make a ton of cash fairly quickly, but unless you stay on top of it and continue building on your success, most likely you are not going to get rich.

Are you ready to work hard? Do you have to succeed? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to earn money online?

You have to be dedicated and you have to work hard to make money from home. You won’t be sitting on the couch, watching TV all day and cashing all the checks that are coming in. I always succeed the best when I am under pressure. If you are under pressure and have to make some serious changes for your future, now is probably a great time for you to learn how to earn money online.

Do you have something you could offer to people that will solve a problem or create value?

Maybe you have some type of knowledge you could share with other people that you could sell to them.

The great thing about having a passive income is it gives you the ability to do whatever you want, when you want.

A little about me
I have been self-employed for about 20 years. I have always been able to take a vacation, do something with my kids, and visit the family when I was not working on a current project, but it was not the same constraints of working for an employer. Setting my own hours and not reporting to a boss has been great, but there is a lot of work involved.

It is not something that you are going to be able to do right overnight or start making the big bucks tomorrow, but what I am going to do is teach you realistic ways to make money online. I have about five to seven different streams of income coming in. I could be out at the beach. I could be off on vacation and no matter what, that money is still coming in on a monthly basis.

Real Estate Appraiser and Internet Marketer
I am a real estate appraiser, so in addition to providing appraisal services to banks and individuals, I also market Internet marketing tips and advice to other appraisers.

Almost every industry out there, any home industry, (pretty much any industry), if you know a carpenter or someone who installs carpeting, most likely they are not going to know how to market their services to get business online. It is fairly easy to become a local search expert.

If you know anything about the Internet, it really does not take a lot to become a local search marketer. You could help them with their online advertising campaigns, building a web site, handling their social marketing and creating that exposure they need.

Just imagine the competition out there. If your carpeting business is showing up No. 1 in Google, you are going to be busy and you are going to be making a very good income. You are going to be able to pick and choose what type of carpet installation jobs you want to do. If you are No. 10, you will still be getting some business off the Internet, but it is nothing like the No. 1 position. You can really earn money online by helping those people obtain the #1 position in your area.

If you could help someone in your area get the No. 1 position, they are going to pay you a lot of money. There are a lot of different things like that, maybe in your own business or maybe your current employer could really need help with Internet marketing. This is only one small area of making money online, but I really love local marketing, so I will be covering that topic in some upcoming shows and interviews.

Creating Information Products
You can also create an information product. I created a directory of companies that order appraisals from appraisers. Appraisers could spend their lifetime searching down this information. When I came up with this idea, I needed appraisal work very badly so I started talking with other appraisers, searching on the Internet, making lots of phone calls and I created my own directory.

I now sell it for $100.00 a copy. That alone brings me over $3,000.00 to $4,000.00 a month just for that one information product. You can do something like that. There are so many different ways to earn money online by creating value. My directory gives tremendous value and I have not had 1 refund in over 5 years of selling the directory online.

Why Watch Your Boss Blows?
If you follow my shows, you are going to learn what is involved in earning money online. I know a lot of you need to make money online NOW, so I will also show you quick ways to make money online.

Most of the stuff I will be teaching is long term though. I am still bringing in very good affiliate sales on products I marketed over 15 years ago!!! I smile when each check comes in.

So I will show you step-by-step, tell you what tools to use and what tools and software will help you make money online quicker. I am not one of those teachers that are going to give you a bunch of good information but leave you hanging for more, only to find out you have to pay $99.95, $499.95 or $9,999.00 to get the rest of the information. This has happened to me many times before and it is very discouraging. There are a lot of really good people out there sharing their information for free, and I hope to interview each and every one of them. Why do they do it for free?

Because there are products and services that you must have to make money online. You need website hosting for example. I tell people to get their hosting at http://mybluehosting.com because their service rules and they are very responsive to my needs. They are also very inexpensive and have very fast servers. When someone follows one of my affiliate links to them, I get a small commission.

The same with Market Samurai, a product I love and use almost daily. Why waste 4 hours researching a few keywords when you can do it in 20 minutes with Market Samurai instead? The same with that product… If you buy it through me, I get a small commission. It is a win-win situation. You get great hosting, learn how to do keyword research, and in return I get some money to cover my hosting, bandwidth and hopefully put a few bucks in my pocket at the same time.

That is how and why we are able to give away all our information for free. There are so many niches out there, we won’t step on each others toes and take away each others commissions. 100% disclosure, that is what I am about.

You Want to Earn Money Online – Are You Better Than The Rest?

Just Get Started
That is all it takes. You can be hung up on a domain name. You could be hung up with hosting. You do not know how to build a web site. Where do you start? There are tons of questions.

I am going to help you with that. Get any domain name for now.
You could always change it later – it is not going to kill you or your web site.

If you speak with any successful entrepreneur, there will be tons of failures along the way. You are probably not going to hit it off your first shot. I did really well on my first shot – extremely well – but when the .com bubble burst, so did my Internet business’.

So, if you are going to fail, it is better to fail fast. The quicker you fail, the quicker you can move on to your next product or project – whatever you are doing at that time.

The key is to just get started. You need to get over those little rough stops along the way because it is going to happen. You are going to want to focus. You are going to want to know when to let go of something that is just not working out. You will want to know when to start over. I have failed many times when I was trying to earn money online, eventually I figured out what works and what doesn’t.

Selling on the Internet – Before the World Wide Web
There are many different strategies for success and failure, so fail fast. I have been doing this for about 20 years – actually a little over 20 years. I have been doing this since the early 90′s. I started selling on Usenet. I was selling products and services off Usenet through my college account, people were sending me checks, and eventually I got an 800 number and a credit card processor.

I have been doing it for a long time and if I would have retained more focus and diversified better, I would be a multimillionaire by now. Sure, I have made over a million on the Internet and it is spread out over the past 20 years. It is not a great success, but I have had a very good living. I was able to buy multiple houses, cars, get married, honeymoon, kids, stay-at-home mom – all that good stuff through the power of the Internet. It is just amazing.

What we are going to start with in the next couple of shows is I am going to start with the real basics. This will be for real beginners. It is going to be step by step, so I urge you to follow along if you are watching this on your computer or watching it on TV. If you signed up to my newsletter, what I will do when I am done with a new show is send you the transcription of the show and multiple videos that you can watch in different formats, It will give you the ability to pause and really follow along. You want to follow along and just do it. Do not let these videos pile up. If you have a really good idea and I have already 5, 10, 15 or 20 shows, start with show No. 1 and just follow it through. When you want to earn money online, you might think of rushing and skipping steps. But you really need the complete foundation to follow through.

You will get a web site up in no time at all. You will start marketing and earning money online. It is really not that difficult but without all the steps and all the information, it could be very difficult to get started earning money online. So, in the upcoming episodes I will be teaching:

how to find a good host like BlueHosting
setting up a website (quickly)
the proper plug-ins to use
formatting your pages and posts
how to get back-links

I am going to cover it all! There is a lot of information coming forth. In each show, I am also going to give assignments. If you are building a website, at the end of that show I am going to tell you to download these basic themes. There are also other themes that you could get that might be better geared towards your type of business.

There are some really good local business themes out there that are built for mobile, as well as optimized for the search engines and optimized for local searches – taking advantage of geo data. The local marketing area is huge right now. Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. I do not see how any local business could live without it. It is just not smart to have a local business without having that local presence. You could bring in tons of work for any type of business out there.

Episode 1: Earn Money Online – The Introduction

Hey Everyone!
In this first podcast of my Your Boss Blows series, I give you a little background on what I have been doing online for the past 20 years and what I do to earn money online. Going through the ups and downs has been exciting to say the least! Being an entrepreneur is a tough job, but I love the freedom that it gives me to do what I want, when I want.

At a fairly young age I figured out that I could make far more money working for work from home than I could giving all my skills and knowledge to an employer, or worse yet, being underutilized. You can do the same thing, at any age!

I want to let you know that I am going to do things a little differently, and that I plan on staring with the basics and give you step-by-step instructions of what to do and how to do it.

Throughout everything I teach, I stress one main point : Just Get Started!

Getting started puts you ahead of 90% of the Internet marketers in the business. If you want to earn money online, you HAVE to get started!!!

In Episode 1 I clearly show you that passive income equals the ability to do whatever you want when you want. I share that Internet marketing is just one example of how I makes money online. Any business, especially local businesses, need online exposure, and most of them do not have it. You can create passive income for yourself by tapping into this market and I teach you how. I make money online through a variety of ways, I have private membership websites, I create niche blogs, I do affiliate marketing (like selling amazon products), I create my own information products, even sell hosting and build custom websites for real estate appraisers.

While I was a college student, I figured out how to earn money online by selling products and services through my Usenet account. After making some sales and receiving a few checks, I got an 800 number and a credit card processor. I go on to stress the importance of getting started quickly so you can fail quickly, focus, and move on to making millions as I lead you every step of the way.
