JAMB to prosecute institutions and candidates found breaching the admission process

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that it will work with security agencies to prosecute any institution or candidate, found breaching its admission’s code of operations. The board made this known in its latest Weekly Bulletin.

t said that henceforth, stringent measures, including prosecution, would be taken against erring candidates or institutions once a prima facie case has been established against them.

JAMB Registrar noted that although the Central Admissions Process System (CAPS) had made the admission process transparent, fair, and equitable, some stakeholders were, however, working hard to circumvent the system.

He said that one of the infractions observed, especially being committed by institutions, included offering candidates admission outside CAPS.

Others are candidates to opt for other programmes, to give room for their favoured but low-scoring candidates and also offline admissions.

The registrar described the acts as criminal, wicked, and unacceptable, adding that those found aiding and abetting admissions irregularities would be prosecuted.

“There should be no debate about merit. “Merit is merit and it is not negotiable; high-scoring candidates ought to be admitted first.’’

The board also disclosed that it had taken a holistic view of all outstanding processes, to ensure the quick conclusion of the 2020 admissions.

It stated that CAPS had since been activated for private institutions, given their peculiarities, while the public institutions were mandated to follow suit.

Concerning the date for the sale of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) forms, the board stated that it would soon announced the date.

My personal blog is relatively new.
I’ve been blogging here for around a month now at the time of writing.
But when I published my very first post, I couldn’t share it to Facebook.
I clicked the ‘Share’ button on my post… and Sht*!.
Facebook hit me with an error message.
“Your message couldn’t be sent because it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive.”
Whaaat?!
How can my website already be flagged as abusive?
It’s brand new!
I tried again.
And again.
Always the same thing.
I knew I was in trouble, so I ran straight to Google to see what this error meant.
And there it was. In black and white.
Your website and it’s content has been blocked by Facebook
This was bad timing when I was trying to launch a new blog.
I went back to Google.
“How to unblock your website from Facebook”
So much information. Some old, some new.
This was three weeks ago.
And I’ve spent that time testing various methods to get my URL unblocked on the social network.
So I’ve put all of this together into some brief methods below on how to get your domain unblocked from Facebook.

How to get Facebook to unblock your website

So you think your URL has been blocked from social media?
Or you’ve found out through a similar process as me above.
Firstly – we are going to need to get Facebook to confirm this, and then we will contact them and ask them to unblock our URL.
To confirm that your website is blocked, we are going to use a tool called the Facebook Debugger.

Using the Facebook URL Debugger Tool

Head over to the Debugger tool at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Enter your website URL into the box and then click the ‘Debug’ button.

If your website has been blocked by Facebook, you will likely be faced with an error that looks something like this.
A sure-fire sign that your website is blocked
If you don’t get this error, and the debugger runs as normal — then check your ‘Warnings That Should Be Fixed’ tab for an error that says “URL blocked”.
If you have neither error, then your website might not be blocked.
I was faced with the error: “We can’t review this website because the content doesn’t meet our Community Standards. If you think this is a mistake, please let us know”.

Submitting a report to Facebook

Facebook is notoriously difficult to contact.
They don’t accept normal emails like most businesses do and instead they require you to submit bug reports or support messages.
So in order to get our URL unblocked, we are going to need to get in touch with them in as many ways as possible.
Note that on the Debugger error message above there is a link to inform Facebook that you think this is a mistake.
This seems like the next logical step, so click that link and fill out the form.

This form files a report with Facebook that they might or might not investigate.
But it’s a step in the right direction.
I went on to fill this same form in about 3 times over the duration of my block.
I also got a couple of friends to submit the same form complaining that they can’t share my content on Facebook.
In this position – anything you can do to get their attention helps.

Report a Problem to Facebook

Another step you can take to get Facebook to eventually notice you — is to report your block as a ‘problem’.
To Report a Problem, click on the Help Center button in the top right corner of Facebook.
Open the Help Center
Then select Report a Problem from the list.
Select ‘Report a Problem’
From the pop up screen, select Something Isn’t Working
Choose “Something Isn’t Working”
Now fill in the form to file a problem report about your blocked URL with Facebook.
Please note that Facebook can take a long time to respond to these reports — if you are lucky enough to get a response.
This is not a concrete method of contacting Facebook, but it could help motivate them to unlock your website.

Speak to Facebook’s Ad Department

Now… this is something I haven’t read anywhere else — and I think it’s the most effective method of them all.
The thought came to me while I was racking my brains thinking of the best way to get Facebook to listen to me.
Think about it logically.
If you want to get a businesses’ attention, you want to hit them where it hurts (which is usually where they make money).
In Facebook’s case, we all know how they make money…
Businesses buy ads. Facebook makes money.
So I thought that if I contact Facebook Ads Business support instead of acting like a general user, then they should take me more seriously.
And I was right.
Here’s how to contact Facebook Support as a business.
The Facebook Business support page
First visit https://www.facebook.com/business/help
Note that for this to work, you might need an Ads Manager account.
If you don’t have one – go ahead and create one now.
Scroll down on this page and click the Get Started button under ‘Find answers or contact support’.
Select ‘Get Started’ from the support section
On the next page, choose Policy & Account Security from the options available.
Select ‘Policy & Account Security’
So Facebook don’t actually have an option for what we want to do.
But this is where we start to make some progress!
Scroll down on the next page and choose ‘Chat with a representative’.
Yes please!
Live chat?!
They don’t give that option to standard Facebook users!
This will open a basic form that you can use to describe your problem.
Boy am I glad to see you!
Fill in all the details and then click ‘Start Chat’.
This will open a familiar Messenger chat window with a Facebook agent.
I can’t believe I’m chatting to Facebook!
After a few seconds they will get in touch and you can have a live chat about your website block.
Great right!?
For added effect I threw in a few comments about really wanting to run some Ads, but I can’t because my URL is blocked.
Here’s how my conversation went.
Frustrating! You’re telling me…
Well that sounds hopeful…
So this is the method that ended up working for me.
This live chat agent followed up with the review team and dropped me a personal email a few weeks later to let me know my domain was unblocked.
He feels my pain…
So that proves it… if you want to get in touch with Facebook — do it as a business, not a general user.
But note that I still needed to follow the previous steps for this to work.
I had to file a report first, in order for this chat agent to follow up with the review team.
Speaking to them via live chat just helped speed the process up.

So what happens now?

The message above is the last correspondence I have had with Facebook.
But that’s all I really needed.
And far more than I expected!
They admitted that it was just an error and I hadn’t done anything wrong to get blocked.
All in all, it took just over 3 weeks to get my website unlocked.
But it was worth the wait.
Life on Facebook is pretty good right now.
I was finally able to link my blog URL to my Page.
Wahoo! No more red error messages.
More importantly my URL is now shareable on Facebook.
I’ve tested it in Groups, Pages and on my Newsfeed.
So it looks like everything is back to normal!
I will leave you with a few quick tips that helped me:
Facebook might not let you know that you are unblocked, so keep checking the Debugger tool for any changes
Try using a URL shortener if you really need to link someone to your website. I had some luck with Tiny URL, but it didn’t always work
Be patient. It took three weeks for my block to be lifted, so don’t expect it right away

2020 Update: Other things to try

So recently a few readers have been saying in the WordPress comments on this article that the Facebook Ads chat option above is not showing for them (even though it still shows for me).

I did some quick research into this and it turns out that Facebook only shows the chat option to certain users and there’s no general rule as to who they display it to.

So I have done some digging around for you and I’ve found a few other options that you might want to try that could work for you.

Try this direct messenger link for the Facebook Ad Support Team and ask them to release your URL from being blocked on Facebook

Remember that if your website has been blocked for genuine reasons that violate Facebook’s terms of service, then the support team will not be able to unblock your website.

2. Understand What You Read

Read to understand because if you just read for an exam for reading sake or for entertainment then you will find it difficult to remember, after reading think and ask your self ‘Do I really understand what I have been reading’?

3. Jot somethings down on paper

Close your textbook or note, and start thinking about what you have been reading, jot all you can remember down after that, open your textbook or note to check if what you have written down is actually correct or not.

4. Reread it again

Consistency is the key, revising what you have read before the exam is very important because it is not Okay to read a textbook just once, the major purpose of rereading is to make sure that the information sticks to your brain.

5. Solve Questions

Pick up different exercises and pass questions paper that is related to the subject/course and start solving make sure you solve as much past questions or exercises as possible,

This will make you to understand how the exam questions will look like.

6. Teach or discuss it with Others

How Long Should A Guy Last In Bed?

A couple weeks ago, I ran across a research paper that inadvertently answered one of those awkward questions that so few people get the chance to talk about: How long does the average man last in bed? I was particularly interested in this study because men’s prowess in the bedroom is often exaggerated, and this study provided an opportunity to shed some light on the truth. The study is (sadly) locked behind a paywall, so I’ll do my best to reproduce the results here.

You see, these researchers were actually studying premature ejaculation. To do so, they recruited about 500 random heterosexual couples from The Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the US and asked them to track the duration of their sexual encounters using a timer and diary. The researchers asked the couples to start the timer as soon as vaginal penetration occurred, and stop the timer as soon as the man ejaculated. Quite romantic, as you might imagine.

After 4 weeks of stop watches and sex diaries, the researchers followed up with the couples to collect the diaries and ask them various demographic questions. Below, I’ve plotted the distribution of how long each man lasted before orgasming (averaged over all his encounters).

To provide a more succinct view of the data, I also created a box plot to summarize the distribution:

The average (median) time before orgasm was about 6 minutes, and ranged from a blissful 6 seconds to a marathon-paced 53 minutes. The majority of men lasted between 4 to 11 minutes, with anyone lasting longer than 21 minutes being considered an outlier.

What I found particularly interesting about this study was the men’s tendency to overestimate the duration of their sexual encounters: According to the authors, the men’s estimates averaged about 1.9 minutes longer than they really were—about a 31% overestimation over the 6-minute average—which really highlights our tendency to overestimate our performance in the bedroom.

So, there we have it. Our collective fascination with hours-long romps in the bedroom doesn’t really hold up in the data, and most couples are probably quite happy for it. Hopefully studies like this one will help us ground our expectations in reality, rather than trying to live up to fantasy.

According to one viral report, which MTO News will not re-post because it has not been verified, people with an African bloodline in their family history, have special antibodies that help them fight off the coronavirus.

So far, there has been no independent study that confirms that Black people are either immune, or are more resistant to the coronavirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that anyone (regardless of race) who comes into close contact with someone infected with the coronavirus is at risk for contracting it.

So why are some scientists saying that Black people are more resistant to the virus?

Well, the genesis of that "claim" came from a case in China, that has doctors puzzled.

In January, a 21-year-old Cameroon national studying in China named Kem Senou Pavel Daryl became ill after contracting coronavirus and was hospitalized.

He was taken to the hospital and quickly made a 100% recovery. According to BBC News, “The CT scan showed no trace of the illness. He became the first African person known to be infected with the deadly coronavirus and the first to recover. His medical care was covered by the Chinese state.”

But Kem was given rounds of antibiotics and other drugs while in the hospital. So his recovery could have been a result of medical care, and not the result of a superior immune system possessed by Black people.

The Jerusalem District Police has confirmed that an unidentified man dressed in a Roman armor presented himself this morning in its headquarters, carrying a blood-covered spear-like weapon.

The man, who speaks only in Latin, identified himself as the Roman centurion Caius Longinus Anxanumus and claimed to be a time traveler from the first century AD.

According to police spokesman Jacob Levine, the man claims he’s the killer of Jesus Christ and that the weapon he carried is the one the “Holy Lance” that pierced the Christ in his side during the Crucifixion.

“He said he was a Roman soldier and had killed Jesus because he was an enemy of Rome. He says he realized too late that Jesus was the Messiah.”

The man also claimed that God tormented and tortured him for almost 2000 years to punish him for his crimes.

“He told us that he suffered centuries of divine punishment, being killed and resurrected thousands of times. He claims he turned himself in because it was part of the deal with God to be freed from his divine punishment.”

The Jerusalem District Police believes the man might suffer from schizophrenia or similar mental issue and are asking the public for help in identifying him.

Hell is mentioned in the Bible numerous times including in Matthew 8:12, which says, “The children of the kingdom will be driven out into the darkness where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.”

Hell is also mentioned related to internal destruction in 2 Thessalonians 1:9 which says, “These will pay the penalty of eternal ruin, separated from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power”. Hell is also described in great detail in Revelation 14:11 which says, “The smoke of the fire that torments them will rise forever and ever, and there will be no relief day or night for those who worship the beast or its image or accept the mark of its name”. From these descriptions of hell in the Bible, we know that it is a place of final judgment and a place of anguish.

There is no place on earth that truly compares to hell. No human truly has a sense of what hell looks like or feels like. No experiences of pain and torment on this earth parallel the pain and torment one would experience in hell. It is even hard to comprehend what hell is like from the Bible’s descriptions.

As believers, we know that hell is very real but it is still hard to fully comprehend. Descriptions of hell are dark and scary. While it’s not easy to wrap our minds around it, as Christians we have to fully understand it to understand God and His love for us. Here are five questions about hell answered.

Is hell a real place?

You may be astonished how many believers don’t believe or accept that hell exists. For those who doubt it, God has given us substantial evidence that Hell does exist in His infallible message to us. If you don’t believe hell exists, consider these words from Jesus: “I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him” (Luke 12:4-5). If you don’t believe hell exists, you don’t trust God’s Word or truth.

Will we suffer in hell?

Scripture is clear that hell is all about suffering. Hell is often depicted as a place similar to that on earth today, with people running around killing and committing evil acts. If you think hell is anything like this, you are up for a rude awakening. Hell was designed as a place of horror, torment and torture. That’s why it is repeatedly referred to as a lake of fire and brimstone. The Bible warns that we not make light of this evil. The Bible tells us, “For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them” (Proverbs 1:32). The only concern in hell is how bad the pain is.

Does Jesus ever mention hell?

There is a common misconception that Jesus didn’t talk about hell which is completely untrue. Jesus talked about hell more than anyone else in the Bible. In fact, Jesus talked about hell more often than He talked about heaven. There is also a notion that God only talked about hell in the Old Testament but not in the New Testament, being that the New Testament is the Good News. It’s time to open up our Bibles. Yes, Jesus spoke about love and compassion, but that doesn’t mean that He didn’t address hell. Hell is very real and it was important that Jesus speak on this often.

Is hell eternal?

Just as heaven is eternal, hell is eternal. As Christians, we believe that the righteous will inherit the kingdom they have been citizens of during life on earth, and the unrighteous will be told to depart from Jesus. This is what Jesus told the apostles, when He said, “Then [the unrighteous] will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life” (Matthew 25:46). What will the truth of your life be? Whatever the verdict at the time of judgment is, there will be two options, and they are both eternal, not temporary.

Does God send us to hell because He is angry with us?

Hell is not a place that God sends you when He’s upset with you, or turned off by something you’ve done. There’s a common misconception that God sends people to hell. This is wrong. People send themselves to hell when they reject Christ. Yes, those who do not accept Jesus will go to hell but that’s because of their own choosing. Our God is a God of love. When we are born again through the waters of baptism and make Christ the center of our lives, we have no place in hell.

Hell seems like a scary place and truthfully, it is. Suffering in hell is filled with great anguish and is not a place we want to spend the rest of eternity. However, for those who think that people are destined to go to hell with no hope are missing a really important component to our relationship with God: His grace. God gives us what we don’t deserve. God’s Will is that we are saved, that we turn to Jesus and receive forgiveness for our sins. Those who go to hell are isolated from everything else, permanently cut off from God and everything that is good. So what’s the good news? There is hope with God and the great thing about God’s love is that we can all be saved.

WhatsApp has revealed that the messaging app will stop working on some smartphones in 2020. This is what you need to do.

It’s currently available on select versions of the devices but will cease to be from December 31.

WhatsApp said: “You’ll no longer be able to use all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, 2019, and WhatsApp might not be available in the Microsoft Store after July 1, 2019.”

It’s not just Windows phone owners that are going to be disappointed though as WhatsApp will also stop working on several Android smartphones and iPhones next year.

As of February 1, 2020, people using Android versions 2.3.7 or older will not be able to create new accounts or reverify existing accounts.

The same fate will apply to users of iPhones running on iOS 8 or older.

If you have a Windows phone and want to save your chat history before it’s gone forever then there is luckily a fairly simple way to do this.

You just need to open the chat you wish to export.

Then click on ‘Group Info’.

Next you’ll need to scroll down and click ‘Export Chat’.

This will give you the option to download the chat with or without media.

WhatsApp is currently working on a feature that will allow group messages to automatically delete after a set time. This way, it can seamlessly decongest the messages in groups. However, this is not a function for individual 1-to-1 chats. Presently, WhatsApp has a similar feature. As of now, you can’t go a few months back on a WhatsApp group without finding that some messages are missing. However, this upcoming feature will make the delete pattern more definite.

The emphasis for this feature is “groups”. Therefore, we can assume that this feature should be seen as a cleaning tool for groups. This means that groups will no longer have to keep hundreds or thousands of messages within a few days. Sometimes, it’s scary to see over 500 messages waiting for you on a group because you’ve been out for a few days. This feature also ensure that the number of messages you see is the most recent.

ANDROID users have been warned to delete 116 apps that have been found to be ridden with harmful malware in a new security report.
Android is by far the most popular mobile operating system with over 2.5 billion users. That makes it a prime target for malicious third-parties that want to infect devices across the globe with malware. Most recently, the team at Barracuda Security discovered almost 200 apps that contained either adware or a suspicious combination of device permissions. And now cybersecurity company White Ops has identified 116 apps – with more than 4.6 million downloads between them – it claims are performing ad fraud.

The firm said the apps are leveraging a type of code it nicknamed “Soraka” and a similar variant named “Sogo”. In a nutshell, the code allows the programmes in question to display adverts over an Android device under certain circumstances.

White Ops performed a deep dive into one of the apps in question that remains on the Google Play Store at the time of writing, Best Fortune Explorer. The app seems a tantalising premise – get a glimpse into your future – but the reality is much more frustrating.

The app was noted to leverage a framework called AppsFlyer that’s used for mobile attribution and marketing analytics. According to the security firm, if you download the app through any kind of promotion (such as on a website for example), then intrusive adverts will plague the device in question.

White Ops showed a GIF of the frustrating promotions in action. Best Fortune Explorer was exhibited to be capable of displaying full screen adverts (that last up to 20-seconds in some circumstances) over a user’s home screen.

All of the apps discovered were noted to demonstrate similar behaviours. The adware being used was noted to be capable of hiding, making it harder to detect by apps designed to root out malware like VirusTotal.

Speaking with Forbes, White Ops’ John Laycock said: “Those hiding behaviours are significant. The fraudsters are getting smarter—they know this is now an arms race, they’re trying to slow down analysis with these tactics. We’re seeing these types of behaviours more and more.”

You only need to take a read of Best Fortune Explorer’s reviews to see that something is seriously wrong with the app. Numerous comments note after installing it their phone has been burdened with annoying adverts.

One Android user said: “Totally useless. After installing, you get so many unnecessary ads. While writing this also, I got 4 ads. This is like a virus for your phone.”

Another wrote: “Don't download it. You will just time pass. And main problem after download is you will get non-stop adds and adds. Even you cannot get to use anything. And also there is nothing like shown in adds. It is like a virus.”

At the time of writing, Best Fortune Explorer has amassed over 100,000 installs and has an average review rating of three stars.

According to Forbes, Google has been informed of the apps discovered by White Ops. However, it seems some of the 116 programmes remain on the Play Store.

White Ops urged Android fans to remove any of the apps in question if they have them installed and provided the package names for each.
