What I’m watching (for fun):
John Mulaney (comedian) has a new weekly show he’s doing on Netflix called “Everybody’s Live”.  I’ve really been enjoying it because it’s imperfect and extremely entertaining because of it.  It also feels a bit nostalgic. Sort of like an old 80’s/90’s call-in show.  Highly recommend checking it out if you’re a Netflix subscriber!

What I’m listening to (for biz):
Ever heard of Loom? (The screen recording software?)  The creator/founder apparently sold it for a billion dollars (yea…) and he recently did a podcast where he shared his experience around his exit.  It’s a fascinating listen — and a combination of business-advice, life-advice and general entertainment!  If you like people talking about money and business (even if it’s a liiiittttttle more than you have witnessed yourself…), I think you’ll love this podcast episode! Success Story:
Some financing situations are more complicated than others.  We like to say that we’re aggressively patient in figuring things out so there aren’t any surprises in the financing process!  Below is a review from a Realtor who recently introduced us to a client that was having a tough time with another lender — we were able to help get her across the finish line earlier this week!

Do you read about economics for fun?  Well, I do… Haha!  I recently had a friend share a really interesting article on how Costco has managed the cost of rotisserie chicken!  It’s interesting to say the least! (Link to article.)

A small friend group (of fellow mortgage nerds) passed around a recent video interview with a performance coach, Ben Newman.  I had some really great takeaways from this 60 minute interview —  I think you’ll really dig it too! (YouTube)

Again, admitted business nerd here… so, “Fun” can sometimes be business stories.  This week I stumbled upon a (Wall Street Journal) podcast about Walgreens and what’s happened to them over the past few years (I was surprised how little I knew!) and why they’re struggling.  Very interesting if you’ve ever been there (it’s always been my “go to” pharmacy…).  (Link on Spotify)

I was in Dallas this week for an event and one of the “headline” speakers was Jesse Itzler.  I’ve been a long-time Jesse fan and figured I’d share one of his videos as a place to start if you’ve never heard of him. (YouTube)

This Week’s Video Tip: Will my youngest go to college? (And, what you can do to prepare for YOUR kiddos!)
Unexpectedly, my youngest kiddo joined me for this week’s Weekly Wisdom!  In addition to seeing her hilarious personality (she’s 5, and unfiltered…), you’ll get to hear my advice on preparing for college education costs.  As a father of 3 little girls, it’s definitely an ongoing conversation in my house!  Figured it was a good topic to share on this week!

What I’m watching (for fun):
Have you ever watched the TV show Billions on Showtime?  I had fallen out of watching it but with the recent snow, I’ve found myself snowed in and watching it with my wife after my kids fall asleep!  Highly recommend checking it out (or, checking it back out, if you’re like me!).  Axe is wild.  And so well acted!

What I’m watching (for “biz”):
I stumbled upon a video interview of Scott Galloway on My First Million where Scott covered a LOT — but one my favorite excerpts was right at the beginning when he talks about not following your passion.  Instead, follow your talents.  If you want to have a GREAT way to approach the conversation of helping someone create wealth on their own terms, this was a great interview!

I’ve been doing a LOT of reading/education for myself on the topic of money the past few months and tax refund time has me thinking… (and not about down payment for houses).  Take a listen if you don’t yet have a plan for your tax refund!

I have never been much of a gambler… mostly because I don’t think I’m very good at it.  This week I listened to a really interesting podcast from a professional gambler though.  Found it fascinating.  Apparently the guy is famous. (Spotify Link)

What I’m reading (for “biz”):
As I’m sure you have heard/read, there are a lot of proposed changes with the new administration.  One that’s been talked about is forcing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac out of conservatorship.  There was an interesting read on the topic here.
