YES Creates A Cirque Fusion Night of Amazement

Meeting planner cries tears of joy after weeks of planning unfolds into a breath taking event! The Retreat in Dunwoody was the stopping point for 100 guests, where they walked the red carpet and were greeted by Cirque Style Costume performers that were elevated on performance cubes. The cocktail hour setting set the tone for what was to come. It was designed with floor to ceiling chiffon drape with dramatic uplighting. An all white palette of sleek furniture that created a hot club like setting with whimsical passed food and signature drinks. The reveal was behind the curtain which was opened to a surprise dinner.

High energy dance music created the energy in the room. As guests entered, seven Cirque performers greeted them. Dangling 20 feet in the area, three cirque aerial type performers danced from the ceiling, while two lighted stages in the middle of the tables held contortionist. They twisted and displayed unbelievable acts of strength and balance. Floor gymnast danced among the tables as the guests were seated. Cries of surprise, while a flurry of camera flash and smart phones filled the room like a sold our concert. The performance continued for five full minutes as multiple acts performed all at the same time. The CEO, received a standing ovation as he welcomed his guests for their special night. The multi course dinner continues as performances rotate around the room from one stage or hanging point to the next all during dinner.

The evening finale featured all of the performers for a final performance and of course the standing ovation from the guests.

Suspense builds as another reveal curtain is pulled back to display a white dance floor, where an invitation to dance is given by DJ Derrick for two hours of crowd pleasing FUN. YES makes another great memory!!!

Steampunk Wins Design Trend Competition!

“Innovative…Trendy…Out of the Box…Off the Chain!” These were just a few of the raves and compliments Your Event Solution received from top event industry design professionals as they chose our tabletop design in NACEAtlanta’s 2012 Design Trends competition. The YES team brainstormed and teamed together for another consecutive win as we strive to stay in the middle of trendy innovation. Industry colleagues attending the National Association of Catering Executives competition crowded around the display, inspected every detail, snapped photos, and voted for us as the best design entry and favorite in the competition!

Steampunk is a style that’s hitting the mainstream and even featured in the Academy Award-nominated film, Hugo. Read on for an explanation of what Steampunk is about, as well as the intricate details featured in Your Event Solution’s table design:

Journey in H. G. Wells’ time machine to the retro-futuristic world of Steampunk. It’s an anachronistic amalgamation of the Victorian era, the machine age, and mod fashion. Powered by steam instead of 21^st century technology, complex mechanical systems of gears and pulleys bring to life the imagination and innovation of 100 years ago. Trapped somewhere amongst art, fantasy and scientific rigor, Steampunk’s popularity is progressing into the mainstream in everything from movies to décor, integrating vintage reclaimed oddities and contraptions.

Gear up your imagination at our dining table, a place where crazy creativity and practical functionality jettison outside the box to fantasy. The tables are wedged together and transformed with custom printed graphic tops to resemble working gears. It’s literally a movable feast with two rotating giant gears creating a mechanized Lazy Susan for the first course of the meal. Guests are engaged with the industrial elements with every sip and bite. Pewter stemware adds a metallic surface to the place settings, while hammered copper contrasts on charger plates. These rest on gears and hold glass plates that are printed with custom gears, an innovative graphic technique.

YES Gives Back This Holiday Season

The reason for the season is often lost in the planning of parties, baking of pies, and shopping during the wee hours of the morning. Your Event Solution took a moment last weekend to remember the real reason that we all should celebrate this holiday season. We loaded our trucks, filled our tanks, and headed to the Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, to give back to the men and women of the 20th Operations Support Squadron. YES donated a holiday reception on December 3 to those serving our country and their families! Amazing Casino Events, a division of Your Event Solution, supplied interactive casino games, like blackjack and roulette, which entertained the guests all evening. By the end of the night, it was sure that everyone had a fun and memorable time, and we were beyond ecstatic that we were able to say "Thank You" in our own special way.

Buffet Design Tips for Your Holiday Party

You’ve planned your theme, décor elements, even what you’ll be wearing to the holiday party that you're hosting. You’ve passed your menu requests along to the caterers and all they need to do is set up the food before the party begins. Wait. Where will they be placing the food? On a rectangular table adorned with white hotel linens? Your kitchen counter? The buffet set-up should not be neglected, but also be a significant part of the holiday party design. Here are a few tips that will help you create a buffet design that complements your holiday party decorations.

1 Use Food as a Décor Element. When planning your menu, consider your theme. Think about the colors and scents of the foods and use this as a starting point for designing your buffet. Determine what can go on trays, in bowls, or freely sit on the table as part of the display, such as seasonal fruits and vegetables.

2 Use Natural Elements. Designing your buffet table this holiday season can be inexpensive. The DJ even participated by wearing Western attire! The wooden bar was decorated with wooden wagon wheels and a suspended wooden sign that read "Deadwood Saloon." The entranceway and stair display included decor elements such as bales of hay, blooming florals positioned in cowboy boots, and wooden barrels.

Trends From Bridal Fashion Week to Incorporate into Your Wedding Design

From the bridal shows featured at the Couture: Bridal Fashion Week, the world discovered the latest bridal fashion from the most popular designers in the the bridal industry, for the upcoming seasons. Although we didn't attend, we stayed abreast of all the latest coverage from this past weekend at this high fashion event in New York!

When we meet with our bride's to discuss their wedding designs, we always ask if they've chosen their dress. Usually they have, or they have a pretty good idea of the style that want. Believe it or not, this helps us with their event design! Why? Because their dress tells us about their personality and their taste in design, additional to the hundreds of cutouts that they bring in to us. Bridal Fashion Week played this same role! Not only have we seen several gowns across the web that we adore but instead of critiquing the gowns from a fashion aspect, we reflected on them from an event designer point of view. We are here to tell you how trends from these modish gowns can be incorporated into your wedding design.

Alternative Classic Tones Steal the Show

Who says that white or ivory is the only way to go when selecting your wedding dress? As seen on the runway the last few days, nude and even black, are the new pure white. Several designers, such as couture bridal gown designer, Vera Wang, revealed bridal dresses in tones of soft nudes and smoky blacks. When designing your wedding, consider these color palette options too. Pastels paired with white or ivory is an old school color choice. Instead, opt for colors paired with a nude or black tone for a classy, sophisticated design.

A Little Skin is Not a Sin

Brides that are looking for a touch a sexy in their wedding gown, can achieve this look with gowns featuring transparent fabrics. These fabrics may be lace or tulle, similar to linen options for your wedding design. When choosing your linens, remember that their are many more choices other than the retired white cotton hotel linen. Even think beyond the poly or satin fabric, and consider using a sheer patterned overlay to adorn your tables. Linen overlays will add a grandiose dimension to your wedding table design.

Three Dimensional Floral Design (We call it texture)

In the event design world, a key design element incorporated into every creative concept is texture. Apparently, in the bridal dress world, this is just as important too! Dresses with three-dimensional fabric flowers and ruffles, ripped the runway. We love this idea of volume and couldn’t help but associate it with event design. Texture creates depth to you wedding design that can be implemented in almost any form! From your centerpieces to your accent decor, like pillows, creating texture in your design enhances the presentation of your wedding design.

So as you can see, all aspects of the wedding, from the fashion to the decor, should complement each other to create a uniform event design. How does fashion inspire your wedding or other event design plans?

Event Spotlight: A Shabby Chic Backyard Garden Theme

Are you planning the details of your next unique event? You're probably considering what type of flowers you will feature on the guests tables, the number of linens you will need, and even if they should be satin or pintuck? These are all details that you should be addressing, but here is a question to ponder. Have you considered the design of every aspect of the event space? The guests entrance? The DJ booth? The buffet, dessert, and beverage stations? All of these areas, and more, are part of the event that should not be left out when planning. It is important to consider every aspect of the event so that the design is unified throughout the entire space and presents a completed look.

We would like to highlight this tip through a recent event that we designed. The event design was created around a backyard garden theme. You'll notice that all of the elements of the design were implemented throughout the entire space, from the guests tables to the buffet stations! An abundance of greenery was planted onto the buffet tables, along with backyard jewels like an old antique wooden chair, tin water pails, and other homely decor, complementing the event design. Check out this shabby chic event hosted at Lake Lanier Islands that transformed guests to a heavenly backyard garden.

Lush, rustic greenery and florals featuring daisies, hydrangeas, Bells of Ireland, stephanotises, and fresh herbs, fruits, and veggies filled wooden baskets and vases on the buffet stations.

The overturned vase of daisies added a genuine touch to the design.

Burning lanterns, melted down candles, and a worn wooden chair enriched the backyard garden event theme.

This buffet station was designed with florals and greenery that were placed in vintage wine bottles and rugged oval stone vases. All the florals were arranged as if they were picked straight from the garden.

The beverage station also incorporated complementing elements, ensuring unity with the other decor throughout the space.

Fresh fruits and veggies were manipulated as event decor in the design.

The fun dessert station was designed using old-fashioned tin water pails, wooden boxes, wheat grass, and moss.

So remember, when planning your next event, don't forget about the buffet tables!

Engaged couples planning an outdoor wedding and reception are aware of the uncontrollable weather conditions that may occur, which has been evident here in Georgia as of late. Sometimes, the visions of a beautiful outdoor wedding comes to life, while other times Mother Nature takes her course. In this case, Mother Nature had the upper hand.

Our team arrived to set-up for an outdoor wedding and reception at Lake Lanier on a recent gloomy Saturday. With the advisement of the couple, set-up was to progress although evening pop-up storms had been the norm for the past week. Unfortunately, this evening was no different. An aggressive storm bombarded the wedding and reception site our team had designed, just thirty minutes before our bride was scheduled to walk down the aisle. We were fortunate though, to have an experienced and fast-acting team on site to jump in and revive the beautiful wedding ceremony and reception design inside another venue. Here are the before and after pictures from this day.

During set-up of the wedding and reception at Lake Lanier BEFORE the storm:

Y.E.S. added the final touches to the wedding design and prepared for the bride to walk down the aisle. Unfortunately, the storm came first!

We vigorously worked together to recreate the wedding ceremony and reception inside the hotel AFTER the storm hit. It was beautiful!

The Happy Newly Weds

Here is an email that we received from the mother-of-the-groom, thanking us for our dedication to making her daughter's wedding a success through the challenges that we faced.

Hi Tiffany,

I wanted to send a quick note to tell you how much I enjoyed working with you. It was an amazing weekend overall!

And I have to apologize for my "frantic" phone call... I had no idea of the destruction at the time....and the last thing you needed was to hear from me when you were working like mad to stage the whole venue in the hotel!!!

As I told you before, Friday night was perfect! You and your team did just a beautiful job of creating that magical setting on the pier!! I would not have changed a thing! So thank you!! I am sure the photographer got incredible photos. And the guitarist was fabulous...again perfect music for the setting and what a nice guy!!!

Not sure our paths will pass again but you were great! It's not always easy finding someone who "gets" what it is you want to accomplish but you did. So, I thank you for that!

Five Tips for Celebrating Your Fourth of July Indoors When Bad Weather Strikes

Celebrating the Fourth of July is the epitome of outdoor fun for Americans. We pull out the grills, dress the patio tables with red and white checkered tablecloths, play fun games, and watch lively fireworks! Unfortunately, today's weather report for Atlanta predicts a chance of rain. So what do we do when the weather threatens to dampen our outdoor fun?!

Here are five event decor tips for you to consider if your Fourth of July outdoor party is interrupted by bad weather!

Pre-set your dining table with themed decor and tableware. Your guests will never know that it was part of the back-up plan. If the space is not used, guests will only assume that you took your event design a step further by decorating the inside of your home also!

Don't let the weather be a wet blanket on your bonfire--literally! Roast your marshmallows for traditional S'mores inside at the fireplace (yes, it's July so put the fire out when you're done)! Take an old tradition and make it into a new one!

A threat of a rain shower will have your guest running for cover! Accent your covered patio or porch furniture with your favorite pillows for your guests to get comfy. This is also a great place to hosts games during your soiree. Remember safety first! If lightning strikes, please have your guests head inside.

Display candles of various heights and sizes to create a "starry" night element. The flicker from the candlelight will create a warm, casual ambiance for your guests.

Bring the outdoors indoors with fresh florals! We love this display of red, white, and blue floral arrangements. Use blue hydrangeas, red roses, and some of your favorite florals to achieve this look. Place them in your favorite vases, and display throughout your indoor space. Episode Recap: HGTV'd

Our team at Your Event Solution are always looking for new inspiration and ways to stay ahead of the design curve. Often, we catch some of our favorite TV shows that feature useful design ideas and tips. One of our current favorites is HGTV’s latest series, HGTV’d, which premiered June 6. Have you watched any of the episodes? Last night we tuned into the second episode and are now determined to catch some of the others.

Last night’s episode featured the Mars family, a family of 10 kids, who craved a space for all of the family to enjoy together. With a family that has many different personalities and design taste, it can be difficult to create a space that satisfies everyone. HGTV’d came to the rescue by taking their design ideas and meshing them together to create a balanced space. Taneka Ray, host of HGTV'd, brought in famous HGTV designer, Sabrina Soto, to tackle the task at hand. Sabrina's work features simple design that is created with functionality in mind.

The Mars family asked for a design that incorporated a coffee bar theme. We loved the pops of color that Sabrina brought to the room, which compliments the deeper grays and neutral tones.

Sabrina brought in texture and color in this space. The hip gaming chairs in vibrant tones accent the space. The stone wall was created to bring some visual interest. "People forget that pretty much the most important part of designing any space, is just not the furniture placement, it’s the accessorizing that really polishes it up," said Sabrina who used key accessory pieces in the design to tie the look together.

When the room was revealed, the family was pleasantly surprised! Mouths dropped, tears were shed, and smiles highlighted everyone’s face.

Although this design was for a home, there were key tips that we, as event designers, were still able to take from the show.

1. Texture creates a visual interest.

2. Design should be visual but functional also.

3. Use accessories to create a cohesive look.

Event Design Inspiration: What Unusual Things Inspire You?

A few days ago one of our team member's visited the local farmers market to grab a few things for dinner. Not only did she leave with ingredients for a tasty meal, but also inspiration for future event design projects. This is testament of how inspiration can stream from anywhere! When we meet with our clients to discuss their ideas for their special events, sources of inspiration are always revealed. Everything from a quilt dressed on the bed of a bride's best friend to a party scene from a client's favorite movie, has served as a source of inspiration for past events that YES has designed. In this case, a few unusual fruit and vegetables aroused our creative appetite.

We love the clean, natural look that the green and white asparagus embody here. Pops of color, represented by the purple toned rubber bands, completes the color palette. Bold colors paired with contrasting hues is a common design concept featured at many events today.

Two bold colors paired together such as the electric green and crimson red shades we find here in this bundle of Swiss chard, is a perfect combination for any event!


These rambutans also represent the pairing of bold colors that work well together. Not only is this fruit's color appealing to the eye, but it's texture is what really grabs your attention. When creating an event's design, it's imperative to remember other visual elements such as texture and space that brings the motif together.

Modern Atlanta 2011 is a Must Attend Event for Creative Designers

We're always happy when organizations bring BOLD events to Atlanta, such as Modern Atlanta 2011 DESIGN IS HUMAN. Modern Atlanta (MA) has planned a week of celebratory events highlighting the art of cutting-edge design and the HUMAN connection associated with it. MA was created to explore an array of disciplines of individuals and businesses that offer products and services inspired by innovative design. MA's primary focus is to bring attention to products and services from a variety of scopes, such as architecture, event, fashion, and interior design (just to name a few) that commonly promote and inspire social responsibility with their forward-thinking practices. This week is for individuals in any specialty that appreciates creative, innovative influences and developments. MA has a diverse group of activities planned through June 12, 2011, that will bring together a versatile congregation of individuals and ground-breaking ideas. Alternatives to the Tangled Themed Sky Lanterns

Disney's Tangled is a favorite amongst kids of all ages, parents, and even brides! YES has received several requests from brides-to-be looking to incorporate the ever so popular sky lanterns from the movie sensation into their wedding day. This decor element, also known as wish lanterns, are paper lanterns that contain a small candle, which once lit, heats the air in the lantern and causes it to rise. Although very beautiful when they are illuminated in the sky, we're not huge fans of the sky lanterns because of their potential environmental hazards. We love to accommodate our brides with their requests, so here are a few alternatives that we suggest that are just as effective and charming as the release of the sky lanterns.

Uplit Balloons

This design concept creates a look inspired from this image.

LED lights are placed in the balloons for the glowing effect. The string allows the balloons to float
versus being released into the sky.

Glowing Mason Jars

Mason jars are a common decor piece used today in shabby chic wedding and other event designs. Spray your mason jars with glow in the dark paint and suspend them from trees to add a glimmering effect to your celebration.

Anchored Paper Lanterns


The illuminated sky concept can still be achieved with classic paper lanterns and strings of white outdoor lights. Anchor the lanterns in trees or along the strands of lights above your guests to achieve the starry night look. If you want to add a creative touch, use lanterns in colors that compliment your wedding theme!

These creative alternatives to the sky lanterns can easily be achieved while still adding a wow factor to your celebration. If you choose to release the sky lanterns, we ask that you use them responsibly and consider the safety of your guests and environment.

Event Spotlight: AT&T Dolphin Tales Opening Reception

The Your Event Solution team celebrated the opening of Atlanta's newest attraction at the Georgia Aquarium. The two-night event was attended by special guests in celebration of the opening of the AT&T Dolphin Tales. Wednesday night's celebration was accompanied by Atlanta's top meeting planners who received a first glimpse of the new attraction. Thursday's night reception was attended by 1200 VIP guests including Mayor Kasim Reed, major partners and clients, and local area business professionals. The ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted during the final night's celebration.

“This is so unbelievable. I’ve planned several events here and have never seen anything like this,” said a friend of the Georgia Aquarium family. Another guest that I chatted with stated, “This is definitely more than I expected.” The Y.E.S. team got creative and created eye-blowing decor and design that complimented the space. And it worked!

The evening began as guests were guided by the blue carpet into the transformed Atrium. Servers greeted guests with champagne on illuminated trays along the way.

Guests entered into the neon illuminated space that had been transformed with pops of blue and orange decor. Flowing linens and sparkling orange curtains brought a lavish element to the space.

Immediately grabbing the guests' attention was the ten feet custom created double sided bar with a flowing water wall where bartenders served the guests speciality beverages.

As appetizing scents filled the air, guests formed lines around the interactive pasta stations and buffets prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Pass h'orderves were also served on custom designed trays with a dancing dolphin figurine.

The interactive stations were adorned with exquisite tropical floral arrangements that were fun and unique.

Several buffet stations were positioned throughout the space to accommodate the guests flow. Surronding the stations, were statue dolphins designed by local artists that will later be placed around the city of Atlanta. Miniature dolphin figurines were placed on the buffet stations, displaying the featured cuisines on menu cards.

After dinner, guests made their way into the theater to watch the much anticipated Dolphin Tales performance. The show’s theatrical approach about Star Spinner’s journey to fight evil across the sea featured special effects and lighting. The stars of the show were no doubt the charismatic dolphins. They entertained the guests with their personalities and hands-on interaction with talented professional trainers. It was obvious by the standing ovation that everyone loved the show!

After the show, guests were guided out of the theater and towards the Oceans Ballroom. As they entered through the doors, a dramatic design provided the guests with a pleasant surprise. The illuminated room featured tones of purple, lavender, white and silver with an abundance of glimmer, creating the perfect ambiance for the dessert reception.

The contemporary design included several unique features.

The focal point of the room was the illuminated bar. Over the bar hung a mirrored ball chandelier that reflected the light from around the room.

Custom designed dessert stations were created between seventeen feet water tubes with dancing bubbles on an array of mutli-height columns featuring dolphin inspired desserts. Another dessert station was placed on a table with a broken mirror top which complimented the mirror ball chandelier.

Guests looking for a place to relax headed to the lounge style seating accessorized with custom designed pillows surrounding a statuesque lamp with hanging glass bubbles and sequins-like details. Stylish white covered chairs accented the modern design.

A combination of estate tables with funky white bar stools and sleek decor completed the hip reception.

Real Weddings: Romantic Afternoon Wedding at Chateau Elan

The Your Event Solution team started their spring off right at a beautiful wedding this past Saturday.

Melissa, Doug and Annie made their family complete this past weekend with a sweet and romantic intimate wedding. With their closest friends and family by their side Melissa and Doug were wed in an afternoon wedding at Chateau Elan.

Melissa’s bouquet featured elegant fresh florals of ivory roses, ranunculus, stephanotis, and pops of pale peach toned roses.

Annie's delicate halo was made of ivory rose buds and rested perfectly atop her beautiful curly blonde hair.

Doug’s ivory calla lily boutonniere laid beautifully on his lapel. Guest took their seats, and the harpist began playing "Here Comes The Bride" as Annie walked her mother down the aisle.

Ivory rose petals guided them down the aisle to the altar. Two large altar arrangements met them at the altar with lush arrangements of hydrangea, roses, amaranths, and Bradford pear branches which framed them perfectly as Melissa and Doug exchanged I Do’s.

After the ceremony guests made their way to the cocktail hour. Tables were elegantly dressed with chocolate pintuck linens. They were accented with silver water pitchers full of fresh hydrangea, roses and calla lilies. The brunch reception was held in Le Clos. Guest tables were designed with a champagne satin linen and moss green napkins.

A combination of high and low centerpieces adorned the tables. Feature florals in ivory and peach tones created a soft and romantic atmosphere with subtle hints of candlelight throughout. The cake table was dressed with a peach brocade linen, floating candles and accented with peach and ivory rose petals.

Everyone adored the charming design and enjoyed this special day even more.
