Britney Spears' 'Womanizer' Makes Record-Breaking Leap From No:96 To No:1

Britney Spears' new single, "Womanizer," has made a record-breaking leap to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, after debuting at #96 last week, the magazine reports. Surprisingly, the track is Spears' first #1 on the chart since her debut single, 1999's "... Baby One More Time."

The song — which will appear on Spears' upcoming album, Circus, due December 2 — is also #1 on iTunes charts in Canada, France, Spain and Sweden, Reuters reports. Last week, Spears premiered the video for "Womanizer," in which we see her in various states of undress and playing several different characters, including a naughty secretary and a butt-kicking waitress.

With 286,000 downloads, the single had the biggest opening week by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking digital sales in 2003, beating Mariah Carey's "Touch My Body" by just over 200 units. Since Spears' first #1 single nearly a decade ago, she has had four other top 10 hits, including last year's "Gimme More."

Earlier this week, it was reported that Spears had inked a deal with AEG Live to produce a tour. MTV News could not reach reps for Spears and AEG Live, but given Spears' comments on New York's Z100 a few weeks ago that she hopes to tour the world in 2009, the reported hookup makes sense.

Spears will finally break her silence about her past few tumultuous years on November 30, when she stars in a 90-minute MTV documentary, tentatively titled "For the Record," in which the singer promises to "set the record straight."

Cloris Leachman Continues On Dancing with the stars,But Another Contender Goes Home..

Funny lady Cloris Leachman has been saved to dance another dance.

Though the Oscar and multi-Emmy winner obtained the lowest score on Monday night on “Dancing With the Stars” it was Kim Kardashian who was sent packing.

Kim appeared slightly shocked when host Tom Bergeron announced she was being set home, but the reality TV star had failed to impress the judges in either the first or second week of competition.

Upon learning she was leaving, Kim took time to reference her late father, famed attorney Robert Kardashian.

“You know what? Today, five years ago, my father passed away and I know he’s really happy and watching over me and I made him proud,” she said.

And Mark Ballas, Kim’s professional dance partner, who last season won the mirror ball trophy with then partner Kristi Yamaguchi, was sent home too.

His father, Corky Ballas, who is dancing with Cloris, remained in the competition and as Mark said goodbye, he parted with encouraging words for his dad.

“He’s doing such a great job,” Mark said. “He inspires me, he’s always been my hero and I’m so glad to be sharing the stage with him.”

Rapper Busta Rhymes Allowed To Play London Show

American rapper Busta Rhymes has performed at a charity concert in London after overcoming his problems with British immigration.

Rhymes — whose real name is Trevor George Smith Jr. — performed at London’s Royal Albert Hall last night after winning a court order allowing him to stay in the country.

High Court judge Nicholas Stadlen gave the go-ahead, saying he did not want to disappoint 4,000 young people who won their tickets by performing community work.

Immigration officials stopped Rhymes on Thursday at London City Airport, with his promoters saying they cited previous legal trouble in the United States. In March a New York judge sentenced Rhymes to three years’ probation for assaulting his former driver and a fan.

MTV has set a high standard for the unexpected at its Video Music Awards, but on the show's 25th anniversary, the network instead settled for throwing its full support behind Britney Spears' comeback. Spears won a leading three awards, including video of the year for "Piece of Me."

Any spontaneity was left to host Russell Brand, the British comic whose rock star style and outlandish candor gave the Los Angeles show a pulse. But at the end of the night Sunday, even the manic and mangy Brand — a confessed former sex addict — could only summon a comic semi-feud with the young Jonas Brothers over their premarital celibacy.

Gossip Girls on 30 Rock

What is going on at 30 Rockefeller Plaza? Television has been the destination for guest stars to make some extra cash, stage a comeback, or boost their profile, but the list of actresses dropping by NBC's 30 Rock is--and I use this phrase sparingly--off the hook.

In late August, Jennifer Aniston finalized a deal to appear on the show. Just a week later, Oprah Winfrey was reported to be in final discussions to make a one-episode appearance.

Now for the mind-blowing news: Gossip Girl leads Blake Lively and Leighton Meester (who play Serena van der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf, respectively, in the superbuzz CW show) will appear together in an upcoming episode of 30 Rock. That certainly deserves one of GG's trademark OMFGs.

According to EW.com, Lively and Meester will play high school classmates of Tina Fey's Liz Lemon in a flashback that outs Lemon as a bit of a school bully (Fey wrote and starred in the catty high school comedy Mean Girls, if you remember). The episode is tentatively scheduled for November sweeps.

What's more, in the inevitable flash forward, producers are looking to get Blake's older sister, Robyn Lively, to play the older version of Blake's character.

Jumping networks in the middle of a season isn't normally standard protocol. But with Gossip Girl still fishing for ratings and 30 Rock taking the guest-star route, this seems like a win-win situation for everyone involved.
