The Public Works consisted of sewers and waste treatment facilities.  The term no longer applied to electric, gas, cable, telephone, or water infrastructure.  Citizens of Devil’s Folly preferred wireless telephones.  And the rest were no longer needed; at least, not in a traditional sense. 

Poles and lines disappeared from the landscape.

The sewer system (jokingly referred to as The Network) still existed; however it was not physically maintained.  Still, there were people who worked at the waste treatment facilities (collectively known as The Plant).  And this seemed a bit odd, at first thought, seeing as how biological waste no longer needed to be treated, either.

Water pollution was practically non-existent.

No one knew much about how The Works operated.  People generally didn’t talk about it publicly.  But, simply put, The Works comprised The Net; The Net composed The Network; and, The Plant controlled The Grid. 

The general consensus was that Plant referred to the treatment facilities, themselves.  But sometimes, the term was used in reference to the workers at such facilities (and so to all public workers, by extension).  Otherwise, the terms Plant and Net were used interchangeably.  However, The Net was not technically a plant.

THE NET

The Net was neither chartreuse nor mauve.  It was something in-between.  But, it seemed more green than red (probably because it gave off a yellowish glow at night).  It took on a form which moved en masse but was not, itself, alive.  The Net was a slime mold. 

The Net was not alive but it was comprised of living single-celled organisms.  And, it resembled the shape of a net only because it had taken over the sewers.  In fact, it had replaced the the need for them.

Beneath every toilet, a branch of The Net lay in wait for human waste… which it disposed of rather quickly as it fed.  But this was not why it was introduced into the sewers, originally.  The fact that The Net arranged itself into conduits for sewage (and fresh water) were an unintended, but welcomed, side effect of its intended purpose.

The Net’s intended purpose was to act as an organic computer.  Organics had replaced hardware in this sense.  The Net transmitted impulses over large distances almost instantaneously.  It was self organized, self configured, self optimized, self protected, and context sensitive.  Plus, it healed itself. 

When it was found that The Net also conducted electricity and other signals (TV, radio, etc); these functions were turned over to it, as well.  It even produced gas as a side product… which was used to power automobiles and as an alternative to electricity! 

It cleaned the air and released fresh oxygen.  It fertilized the soil and nourished the vegetation.  It was not poisonous, it could have been eaten; but, it didn’t taste very good and it was disgusting to look at (Perhaps some people did eat it.  Who knows?).

And sometimes, it is said, The Net took the shape of something recognizable… a face, a skull, a clown.  And, at these times, it appeared intelligent. 

However, these manifestations were generally assumed to be coincidence.  And so everyone was assured that The Net would not turn into a monster and attack them in the night (though parents would sometimes scare children by telling them that The Net would get them if they didn’t behave).

Nonetheless, people didn’t like to think about it much.  They didn’t like the idea of it writhing, pulsing, and oozing beneath them.  They tolerated it because it had turned their world into a paradise.  But they knew they didn’t control it.  And they wondered sometimes if it controlled them, instead (which it did, to some extent).

As has been hinted, the workers at the treatment facilities weren’t quite right somehow.  Well, their entire function was to provide for The Net.  And this was a service they performed routinely (even if they seemed, at times, to perform it automatically and without thought).

So, perhaps, The Plants were exercising their free choice by opting to work in that capacity (at The Plant and for The Plant).  And if they no longer appeared to be very thoughtful, perhaps they never had been.  Surely, they were human (though, as suggested by their nickname, they might have been more Plant than animal)?

Other public workers also seemed to be affected… though to a lesser degree.  And people didn’t talk about this much, either.  Thus, when an individual thought about food and then found himself at his favorite restaurant without ever actually deciding to go there; this, too, was declared a coincidence. 

Still, from time to time, it was claimed that The Net caused certain reproductive changes and a host of genetic abnormalities which resulted in birth defects and deformity.  Or, it was asserted that The Net elevated the risk of brain cancer… as evidenced by an increase in physical agitation and mental confusion.  In truth, most people’s raw intelligence scores improved.  And, more and more, individuals would fortuitously discover themselves meeting the people they were looking for, or finding the things they were searching for, or otherwise ending up where they needed to be… without knowing beforehand where it was that they even needed to be.

Everyone was connected to The Network. 

The term Network was still, more or less, used in its traditional sense.  This, with the exception of off-colored jokes and crude remarks.  In such cases, the term might also convey the essence of human waste.  Or, it might be used to imply something even more unpleasant… something covert lurking beneath an otherwise  idyllic external facade.

Under the system of taxation, individuals were charged what it cost to produce a product.  Then, on top of this, a tax was added.  So, if ever there was a quantity or quality that guaranteed the stability of money (gold, labor, etc); tax went above and beyond this, by design.  This is to say, taxation could only be backed by a person’s death. 

The founders of the old system knew this when they specified that taxation should only be used to raise an army.  Because, in order to kill, one must be dead already.  Otherwise, to kill another is to kill oneself… or to know what it would be like to be killed.  And this knowledge of death is equivalent to death itself.  Or, rather, it is only through one’s own death that one might truly gain such knowledge.

Though, surely, people in the old system were animate.  For, it might even be said that they worked like zombies….

Like zombies, Capitalists were buried (by work and by dept) until they had given up hope of ever seeing the light of day again.  Then, they were dug out.  As such their bodies were alive.  But their will was dead.  And, without a will of their own, they would stand immobile all day unless told what to do by their masters (those who buried them, in the first place).

Only within a system of taxation does a need for representation arise.  For, how can any person presume to represent another?  How can they, that is, except that the person being represented cannot represent himself.  Specifically, the person being represented must already be dead (as has been suggested).

GLORY

Whereupon, a soldier is dead who does fight to his death.  Thereupon, an army of soldiers do fight.  But, for this, they should be mad (for that is how people will be who would be dead).  Poor souls!  And thereby, most people die long before their bodies do. 

Glory was dead like that.  And he was mad.  And he was ready to fight.  And for these reasons he made a good Rep. 

Not at first, to be sure.  But after Glory came to the attention of The Joint, he became a good Rep.  He was oppressed.  He suppressed.  He was repressed.  He became depressed.  And then, he was so easily impressed!

Glory looked up to aggressive people like any animal will who has been domesticated.  And, like a dog, Glory had been…

Fixed:  Glory’s father kicked him out of the house at 19 because Daddy wanted to have sex with Mommy 24-7 without being bothered by Glory.  So he was cut off from the only woman he could ever love.  And he became homeless.

Broken:  On the streets, Glory would ask people for help.  But soon, he realized this didn’t pay very well.  And so, he found a scam. 

Taken in:  Glory would buy water for a nickel a bottle and then sell it for a dollar.  All the while, he was looking for any old queer who might support him… or a job.  Though, either way, he had no intention of ever putting out.

Set up:  In jail, Glory was sodomized.  When he was released, he went looking for girls to bugger.  Using his metaphorical whip, he could tame any of them.  He’d scratch their tummy with it.  Then he’d hit them over the head with it.  And so, unsure of what to expect, they would back up and roll over when he pulled it out.

(Glory often imagined what the inside of his own hole was like.  He contemplated this as he inserted things there.  He felt dirty like that.  And, he liked feeling this way).

Put down:  Being with girls would always make Glory feel like less of a man.  Women seemed to be laughing at him.  They’d call him names (Homo).  And this turned him on!  Then, ashamed of his feelings, he’d reassert his masculinity (sometimes with a little too much bravado).

Domesticated:  And in this way, Glory became a man like those he met in prison.  True, sometimes he would still purr like a pussycat (though he meant to growl like a lion).  But more often, he would snap… when he might have, otherwise, been provided for.

Glory regressed:  Wasn’t he a child when he first realized that all girls have their manhood taken from them this way?  Yes!  That’s why he felt sick to his stomach when he looked down there.

Glory re-membered:  In Jr. High, he’d simulate this feeling of disgust by pulling the wings off of flies or by torturing some other small animal.  (And sometimes, he would set fire to things and feel hot all over.  Those times, he’d have strange dreams and wake up with his sheets all wet).

Then:  He had fantasized about being in the military.  He wanted to visit dirty places, to hurt people, and to start fires.  He needed to find cheaper prostitutes.  And he wished that he could die… so that he could be a hero!

Now:  He was a man.  So, he abused men.  He’d take out his whip to them, he’d get himself a stiff one, and then (because he could afford to) he’d pay a woman to love to him.  Like his father?

Now and then:  He was a hero…. Like his father.

So, this is how Glory came to speak of his superiors without finding any fault:  He became them.  And so, he was sent forth to gather other souls to them.

The complex began amidst scattered charities, private foundations, and government welfare agencies.  At that time, it was popular for TV programs to allow viewers to vote on their favorite competitors for a cell fee.  And this became feasible enough that government sponsored talent contests could be instituted in lieu of national lotteries.

In line with this new focus, the requirements for government benefits became more and more skill oriented.

Private foundations extended their backing to a greater number of promising individuals.  And charities expanded their support of the arts to include more of the skilled crafts.  Both were hoping to capitalize on the new competency mandates.  Soon, these organizations were awarded oversight of public assistance programs.  And this quickly resulted in one centralized network whose main function was to provided funds for anyone of any talent.

Meanwhile, people had also started using their personal devices to vote for each other (for fun).  But since these votes could be instantly tallied to determine an individual’s growth and potential, brokers started evaluating people along with other stocks.  And because this information was available on the net and could easily be accessed by anyone with a smart card, credit (and eventually cash) was being completely phased out in favor of privilege.

A person’s privileges-earned came to be calculated by a fairly simple formula.  The formula took into consideration value, worth, votes cast, votes received, and the weight of each vote (which, in turn, was based on the value or worth of the individual casting the vote).

Value was determined by self-voting (it happened).  Or value was determined by the number of times a person voted for someone who voted for him in return (couples played this game).  Plus, value increased as votes accumulated interest, over time.

Worth was determined by other’s votes (as people voted… instead of paying for services rendered, for instance).  And when a person’s worth was not commensurate to their value, private foundations and public charities kicked in to make up the difference.

Wireless companies grew so huge and were bailed out so many times that they were finally forced to take responsibility for all charitable debt.  Conn-Ed became the industry giant.  Conn-Ed insured stock that was over valued in comparison to its worth.  This led to even more frivolous uses of technology and Conn-Ed’s privileges skyrocketed.  Plus, it gave them an interest in the winners.

The prison system and the military came to control all private debt.  This firm became known as The Joint.  The Joint bet on the stocks which were worth the most.  And by having their hands in the pot, they became privy to important information about individual preference from which they created the psychological assessments they used to profile the losers.

Conn-Ed and The Joint merged but maintained their separate identities.  This mirrored the two party system most people seemed to prefer.   It gave the illusion of choice.  It retained separation-of-powers, checks-and-balances and adversarial law.  And, most importantly, it kept the economics of competition alive in the absence of a profit motive.

The Complex was formed.  The Complex!  The title referred to both the new government and also to the giant stadium mall they were building to house the national contest.  The Contest determined who was qualified for top positions.  And talents of every imaginable kind were verified at all levels by The Review.

A vote for your favorite candidate is a vote for your government!

People bought in.  Some sold out.  These coupled or joined groups.  They became Demos.  Demos voted for each other and saved their votes.  And they came to understand themselves in terms of how much they were valued.  The Demo mindset was most beneficial for anyone wishing to earn the benevolent support of Conn-Ed.

If people were skilled, however, they displayed their talents publicly.  Every consecutive vote accrued weight and added to an individual’s self-worth.  As such, these individuals (or Reps) were sure to attract The Joint’s attention.  And, glory was bound to follow….

SUCH AS THIS IS (SO LIKE THAT)

Introduction

Introducing the twin, Pride, and the twin, Power.  They two, together, are as One: The Twin.  Nothing gets by Him!

Synopsis

A disturbance takes place in the town of Devil’s Folly mirroring a revolt in Heaven.  The transformation of The Twin suggests that the angels Gabriel and Michael, who monitor the side entrances, might switch guard.  The central gates would be sealed!  This could signal the beginning of a new kingdom in the world of Is Land.

Thesis

The Twin goes searching for manly talents only to discover that a feminine influence is making his world impotent… that is, until he brings a fraternal order to bear upon the chaos.

(As such, the story offers hope that women might yet be redeemed.)

Explanation

Traditionally, sons are said to enter Hell to save their mothers.  In this tragicomedy, the kingdom of mothers and fathers is a parody of heaven.  Therefore, the heroes join their world in an irreverent fashion and by a most profane communion.  Thus, the story world might be understood as a fallen Eden where all the characters represent different embodiments of a twin divinity, God-Devil (conjoined).

The Science

The Null Hypothesis suggests there is a zero percent chance that we exist… to some degree of error.  This is to say, mathematics establishes statistical correlation by denying causation.

In support of this hypothesis, Chaos Theory confirms that all possible combinations of error will occur on the border between chance-existence and non-existence.

However, we may similarly assert that we exist.  There is a 100 % chance that we do!  And we may claim this with 100 % certainty.  That is, we may use the Null Hypothesis to prove causation.

Herein lie the laws of order and the formulae for creating life.

The Backstory (The Fiction)

Somewhere between the polarities represented by a father and a mother exists the potential for new life.  But first He-She must have existed, The God-Devil.  For certainly, If male and female make they him and her; then, male and female made He-She them?!

Because He existed in all space and time, physical representations of The One (The Father) and temporal permutations of The Only (The Son) were impossible.  In effect, maleness could not manifest physically in a pure form.  So Adam was created as the one and only hu-man.  And man-kind came to embody a masculine spirit.

But for Her:  Whereby, the one and only took the form of The One and The Only (coupled).  As such, Adam lost dominion.  Thus he was ashamed and hid his gender.  And thereby, the spirit which breathed life into him came to be known by the emotion of women and couples.

So says the Jealous God!

And though the truth of this might be revealed in due time as it regards the potential of any man over time (that is, regarding Holy Spirit); yet, this book is not that book.

Dedication

Because it came to pass, once upon a time, whereby God-Devil became incarnate as The One and The Only.  And, for this, it was a miracle by which He-She became a twin.  But, for that, He was not conjoined!  And, as such, it remains a holy mystery in that the both of them were male.

This book is dedicated to The One and Only.

Preface

Fraternal twins.  One coin.  Two sides.  Chance expressed as coexistent order.  And so, any possible eventuality might be decided by a toss of their heads.

Entitlement

The story of how I, a fraternal twin, arrived at my solution to the problem of good and evil:

1. Either The One or The Other.  2. Neither The One nor The Other.  3. Both The One and The Other.  4. But The One not The Other….

SUCH AS THIS IS SO LIKE THAT

Those of the Devil’s Folly are predominantly intersexuals:  Due to interrelationships between males and females most individuals have become mixed.  Men and women are coupled together.  Many of the boys prefer girls over their own kind.  And just as many girls seem to prefer boys. 

People hide their genders by covering their sex organs in public.  Some are ashamed of their birth sex.  Others are afraid of being turned in public.  Sexual pleasure is now used to dominate others.

Exclusive one-on-one relationships are formed, until death, to determine which individual will prevail.  And so public life has become as a popularity contest where the winner might be chosen according to who receives the most votes.  As well, intersexuals may hold group competitions (often of a violent nature) to decide between the winners and the losers.  But anyway, the men are superior….

And this has led to the establishment, by women, of a system of just-us.  Within this penile system men are re-formed.  They are put into cages where they are trapped (as between the legs of a woman) until they submit and demean themselves.  And though it is said that men in jail regularly turn out other men; more often, such merely become woe-men (either con-men or queens rather than kings). 

Collectively, this culminates in war.  Wars are mass entertainment for The In-humans.  Of everything they understand, they understand opposition best.  Such enslave mortal souls and send boys, in the prime of their lives, to kill their own in mass quantities or to be killed themselves.  Sometimes these also return with their gender intact… mercifully. 

So, cross dressers and transgenders are just a few of the fun and interesting characters one may find in Devil’s Folly.  There are women who degrade themselves for money.  And there are men who use weapons and other phallic substitutes (including special drugs) in an attempt to recover their masculinity.  Plus those of natural talents sometimes put on displays.

Spectators respond by showing their teeth.  Though, due to widespread impotence, this is no longer perceived as a threat.  As such, it doesn’t indicate dominance or superiority.  In fact, it is considered a sign of sociability:  One emasculated individual often greets another this way in recognition and acceptance of our shared humiliation.

NOTE:  The twin (fraternal) DNA also produces a (an evolutionary… or revolutionary) talent as a side-effect.

NOTE: AIDS operates by a similar process (AIDS DNA double helices are created, or translated, from single strand RNA… very unusual). [Am I suggesting here that the technology is a potential cure for AIDS?  This universe is an alternate universe to the AIDS universe?  Surely, within the world of AIDS, such ideas might arise.]

NOTE: Synthetic insulin was created by this method (an interesting story, the synthetic version isn’t as good but they took the natural insulins off the market thereby forcing people to use the synthetic version [This story gives a glimpse into the ethics of creating synthetic life]).  Anyway, this is important because there is a name for the protein derived from such a process (and insulin is an example of this protein).  If I want to use the correct terminology, I will have to pay better attention to the research (however, the simple story I began with is now starting to sound like a medical novel).

NOTE:  Being utopian (heaven on earth) rather than dystopian, there are indications that certain negative social phenomenon are passing away (or have been done away with) namely war and jail… though perhaps even more telling, money (already mentioned) and… MATING?!?! [The story on one level is about a process that is LIKE human reproduction, genetic replication, but it is proposed as a technological advance to reproduction].

In fact, fraternization has modified [or is a modification of] (religion… religious) communion [a comparison between twins and marriage and a contrast between communion and consummation… only regarding that which is consumed, or transubstantiated as the case might be].  And so it is either a sacrilege, an improvement on creation [similar to how replication is an improvement on reproduction.  A re-creation] (a god DNA) , or even the process for bringing about a second coming (JESUS’ DNA).

Telling a story places the narrator at the center of conscience.

One may have a conscience, it is said.  And one may be aware of ones conscience as a thing which operates independently of oneself.  That is, one may be self aware and also self conscious.  As such, one becomes conscientious (or consciously aware) and, perhaps, selfless.

So:  The conscience exists in some relation to the self which is conscious.  And it operates in some realm of the awareness.  But it functions in a way that goes beyond oneself (and such that it seems, itself, to be conscious).  In fact, the conscience is a self-sustaining process.  It is the  mechanism by which (self) consciousness leads to (self) awareness.

The way it does this is by reflecting those things which are selfish back to oneself (through self reflection) and so by attributing (or projecting) those things which cause one to be self conscious to the act of being conscious (or upon consciousness, itself).  This is to say, conscience attributes degrees of self consciousness to the fact that one is conscious of oneself, to the degree that one is conscious of oneself, such that one is (only thereby) conscious.

In effect, the conscience removes self from the equation (self-conscious-awareness) allowing one to be consciously aware…. to be indirectly aware of the conscience… and so to be passively self aware (or aware of oneself as a person of conscience… and as one who is therefore capable of acting in a conscientious manner).

This passive self awareness may also make one self conscious in the sense that one has the feeling that one is being watched.  And because of this, one may remove oneself from ones social reality and approach reality as one so removed.  Such often become dissociated (they break from reality).  But, they may break only to fix themselves.  And they may fix themselves by fixating (fiction).

Transfixion is a fixation on death (by degree of unconsciousness).  Cross fixation is transfixion upon a savior, or father figure (self reflection as introjection).  Crucifixion (the prototype of cross fixation) is where the self finds itself in relation to death or mortality (introjection is thus understood as an internalization of the father… as conscience).  And so cross transference is blame for crucifixion (self as father to oneself, or son as sire).  Thereby, one may be with scion in a new consciousness, or con-scion).

Scion fixation, then, is the beginning of science fiction. (whether scion is understood as king, son, or graft).

We have found two paths to consciousness!  We have become as one walking within consciousness.  Perhaps we even create that consciousness as an alternate reality.  We have seen how this can be accomplished through fixation.  When the narrative involves an alternate time line, this kind of fixation is called fiction.  And when that fiction also involves an alternate (social) reality, that form of fiction is science fiction.

Conscience is con-science is con-scion.  Fixation is fiction.  And scion fixation is science fiction.  In science fiction, the alternate reality formed most often centers around a new technology because the scion, or son, is the father extended through time.  This is to say, the first in line is the individual as archetype.  And so the technique of the scion is science (such that the archetype is also the prototype).

A scientist shouldn’t create an invention which would kill himself.  And, perhaps, this is prohibited by conscience.  Well, military intelligence doesn’t invent… it steals inventions from ‘the enemy’.  Anyway, a writer shouldn’t write so as to create a reality within which the story ‘dies’ (perhaps the reason some stories work and others don’t).

If the story crucifies the characters, then a dystopian society is indicated.  And so, dystopian literature requires a hero who is outside of society.  Yet in the world of science fiction, the realm should exist unto itself.  And, as such, science fiction is utopian literature.

Science fiction is utopian literature.  The science fiction writer creates a viable alternate reality.  As such the reality of the science fiction writer is prophetic.  And so the SciFi writer, himself, plays a part in the salvation of the world (even, perhaps, while creating a new earth… and a new heaven).

People dress like their favorite historical figure.  There are popular historical figures of the day:  Some groups all dress in one particular style.  But some fads [appear to] occur spontaneously.  The development of these fads [may] parallel a historical time line.  But some can be attributed to [the development of] contemporaries [some of] who are relatively unknown.

Neckties, are they tributes to people who were hanged?

*The medium IS the message.

(Paper or Plastic?)

LANGUAGE

I have a ‘twist’ model [in limbo] that shows how phrases like ‘Paper or Plastic?’ apply differently to people at different social classes.  The particular meaning indicates the person’s station in life.  And the difference in meaning keeps the one from advancing to the next level (without going through some change).

I could create a new form of joke (the twist).

*The joke IS the language.

[The intension / intention is in the play of words... the word play / joke... teleology / tautology... teleo tautology... jokes and riddles... the geek (yet more list making)]

PLAY

The most obvious example of this is that when a war is about to break out, army toys become popular again.

*The toy IS the person.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT:

People repeat quotes from movies.  Or remember plot lines.  Interesting, because I can’t.  They laugh with each other and discuss different movies… repeating lines from them. This sounds completely out of place in context [to the reader] because the context is an abstract ['fame' or 'importance']…

*The movie [drama] IS the context.

(the book is about the development of DNA Television).

SOCIAL STRUCTURE

likewise a poor person who says raahther instead of rather might have a strange effect on people though they might not understand why.  Perhaps it portends his eventual rise to riches / though it makes him sound odd in the context of the group he’s in.  Nonetheless, this shows a tendency toward [imprinting / impressing] (has he deliberately picked this up from someone… or does it just happen naturally).

*The lampoon IS the social structure (for example, the club scene is more real than real life)

In my case, cartoons seem to be mockeries of my own experiences (kind of a turn around on this idea).

OR:  People mock others… say things in funny voices (the old man voice, the stupid person voice).  Others laugh.  People who do this are popular.  ‘Look at me.  I wear concert t-shirts.  MAN! (ha ha ha)’.

*The cartoon IS the experience.

People seem to be caricatures.  They may be known by nicknames that accentuate their oddities (big nose, elephant ears, Bucky [buck toothed], etc).

**The joke is the anachronism.

Even within a ’scene’ (an 80 s style disco), there is an order to things.  A person might wear polyester bell-bottoms and a silk shirt with a big collar… but he wouldn’t wear cowboy boots or he’d look odd and out of place.  Nickname:  Urban Cowboy or Night Fever (Travolta… Hoffman)

But a 70 s style ‘pimp’ (with a velvet hat and fur coat) might fit in with both the gangster rappers and also the black panther movement of the early 80 s or even a 60 s hippy protest.  If he also wears a cape, he’s ‘Rick James, bitch’.

*A parody is a scene.

And when (if) I put things into the book (pretentious to say that I’m writing a book)… if I create an anachronism, then how does it play?

As a character flaw?
As something unique?
As a thing that makes me pretentious?
As a thing that makes me historically significant?

I think the world of the characters in the book can be a mix of things taken out of context and so mistakes will read as a clues to the development of the story (ironically… because they are insights into the limitations and inclinations of the author)… clues to the historical trend.

Because the (Indy) movement makes it obvious that people are being pretentious.  They can be part of a scene but not call themselves Indy.   That is, the worst thing an independent could do is to step outside of his role (like a transgender has to be called a woman or else she’s a boy who dresses like a girl.  VERY embarrassing!).

But, the scene itself is a parody of a person (Grunge IS Kurt Cobain).  So the ideal would be to become that person; though this is also the ultimate insult (Who do you think you are?  Kurt Cobain?).  Thus the caricatures and nicknames.

[The person as contrasted from the scene within which he finds himself... this is the formula for determining the unique characteristics of the individual; and, re-creating the formula is as difficult for the  copy as it initially was for the original].

The process is a variation of cloning.  Strands of (pure) DNA double helices are created in a lab using caloric* energy to naturally ‘marry’ amino acids into neutral pairs (these lack any specific genetic encoding).  The synthetic DNA (sDNA) strands react with human RNA in the body… restoring the body to health.

*I’m trying to think of a reason to kill the husband and wife… perhaps the elixir needs to be heated to the exact temperature produced by burning a human body (or incubating in a human, dead or alive)… calories as nutritional value, etc (not sure if I’m going to use this idea)

The RNA ‘unzips’ the sDNA breaking it back down into its component amino acids thus releasing caloric energy (one amino pairing at a time).  In this way, replicant RNA (rRNA) and synthetic RNA (sRNA) ‘half strands’ are formed [Like sex chromosomes, which likewise contain only half of a human gene]. 

These ‘prostitute’ chromosomes amass great amounts of caloric energy to temporarily weaken the host.  Then, by a process known as transubstantiation (that is by releasing bursts of energy at specific wavelengths as they come into contact with each other), they cause free aminos to combine according to certain (mutative / evolutionary regressive) pairings in the host body. 

[As a side reaction and defense] Precursor DNA (the ‘twins*’ srDNA and rsDNA) are formed.  These ‘convict’ genes empower the host’s body as they combine and recombine ‘lawlessly’ (in an almost infinite number of possible ways) and ‘aggressively’ (in a deliberate and ordered succession) to evolutionarily re-create the hosts original and unique genetic code (restoring the body to its original healthy state).

*this suggests that I should introduce twin characters… not sure if I will.  Seems researching this process would help me write about it!  Also (as an alternative to calories, should I use twins, it may be that the elixir has to be injected into twins so as to extract the God DNA… however, I’m leaning in the direction of Man and Wife (natural offspring gets God DNA from his parents… and also, apparently, the church has a method for performing this without being in a lab).

As a side effect, individuals often display a previously undiscovered talent to an extreme degree of proficiency.  Some explain this side effect as an evolutionary throw back (resurrecting genius from our evolutionary past).  Some explain it as an evolutionary progression (the creation of a superman or super race).  Some say that, either way, it proves the existence of a supreme intelligence (one which is beyond physical space and outside of evolutionary time).

A child is born without privilege (To sorry parents?).  The mother secretly tells the child he is talented.  The father kills the mother then disappears.

The child is placed into the church (poor in spirit).  The church tells him all talents are from God (The boy believes that his talents are his and do not belong to God).

Having a talent is a terrible sin (Why?).

The child confesses (in confidence).  His talent is confirmed by the priest (as belonging to god).

He suppresses his talent (but looks up to the priests who secretly practice the arts).  Thus, the boy is afforded privileges in the church that others (specifically women) are denied.  The child finds sanctuary in the church (false sanctuary?).

The priest teaches the boy that women are evil (need to know).

Nonetheless, the boy meets a woman.  He is tricked by her to display his talent (and becomes a convict).  In humiliation, he takes up a simple profession (he becomes a slave).  He puts his talent aside.

[Perhaps the reader is starting to understand that talents are repressed by society in certain people but are awarded to others?  This is the social situation (the religion) which supports the development of the technology].

The technology:  God DNA (or Transmutation*).

A similar hallucinogen is also used on the streets which makes people believe that they are famous people from another time.   And some children, often those born to addicts, are idiot savants (they act odd but also know things that they have no obvious way of knowing).

[Our hero is none of these:  Where did he get his talent?]

As a slave, our hero becomes frustrated.  He takes out his frustrations by using street drugs and, as such, by visiting prostitutes ( prostitution and drugs are part of the same culture).

The street drugs temporarily give him talents (talents which belong to other people?).  And women who see these talents are attracted to him (Perhaps they secretly want talented children?).  But every time he displays his own talent in front of a woman, he is humiliated by her…

… except that he enjoys being humiliated by women.  He looks up to them because they seem to be ‘naturally’ gifted.  At least, they are wise to the talents of men (and the uses such talents might be put to).

• He seeks out more humiliation.

And he represses his own talent more and more, publicly; though, privately he displays it (generally to men) because he enjoys the feeling of control it gives him…

• he gains mastery over others
  
• he gains conviction regarding his own talent

… and he loses all of this, ecstatically, when he humiliates himself with a prostitute or while on street drugs (at oneness in shared shame with all ‘these’ others from the past who similarly had talents and similarly squandered them).  He is angry at his mother for encouraging him to be talented.  He dreams of having a wife… and of having a son, and of giving his son everything he never had for himself.

He marries.  He shares his concerns with the priest during confession, in confidence.  He is forgiven.  He finds peace in the church away from his wife.  He goes there often.  And he is afforded privilege by the priest to practice the art of ecstasy, in altered states of consciousness, and even with the help of certain unnamed techniques (chemical or otherwise).

A child is born.  The mother complains that the father has abandoned her and the child to practice his ecstatic talents with the priests.  In a fit of ecstasy, the father kills the mother.  The priests cover up the murder, and take care of the woman’s body, then demand that the man sacrifice himself for his own sins…

The child goes before the church.  There is a ceremony where the priest is making a sacrifice on the altar… he is preparing a holy elixir.  With the congregation present, he anoints the child (to their ecstatic chant:  SEALED!  SEALED!).

[Some people, it is said, are inoculated with the DNA of a famous historical figure at their birth.  Our hero is not one of these people.]

I put disgust at the center making it causative (but also such that it can be cured).  Of course I’m saying that men are disgusted by a woman’s lack of penis (and visa versa).  And I’m saying that this is the reason for ‘all’ regret, spite, resentment, and scorn (this last used to be irreverence).  BUT I’m also saying that ‘why didn’t we, why do we, why don’t we’ (regret, disgust, scorn) isn’t so much a problem of ’sin’ (mistakes in the past, regret proper) as of false memory (fixation on disgust): ‘original sin’.

Oh, the The Fall* (why did we, why do we, why don’t we… regret, disgust, scorn) MIGHT be (seems to be) how knowledge (why) is filtered from experience (without trial and error [trials and tribulations], for example, which applies to understanding… or to wisdom, where a wise woman learns what not to do by watching someone else,  a man perhaps, suffer loss… to her benefit and so, sometimes, at her behest):  A tree of knowledge (relative to good understanding and evil wisdom, as such).

When one uses the term sophist in a negative way, one may be implying that the individual is not personally responsible for creating knowledge (just as the tree of knowledge establishes original knowledge AND places the blame for sin on original sin rather than on the individual).**

As for original sin, I’m reminded of hunter-gatherers (hunting snakes and gathering forbidden fruits) and how being expelled from a paradisal garden might suggest a move toward agrarianism (domestication) by which man labors morning to night so as to bring forth food from the ground / by which women, through pain, bring forth children (so also regarding labor).

However, domestication might result in a beehive mentality where men (no longer hunters) lose their spears (their male genitals) and become workers or drones… and women become queens.  In this system, the queen proper (or the fag hag, conversely) bestows manhood on feminized men (or on soldiers of the king, such that they’re drones) through knighthood… by addressing them as sir (similarly male women become evil drag queens).  Thus this cosmology:  ARCHETYPES (and their phalli), OR…

Tool Users (How Farmers become Soldiers)

*Why did we (regret)?  <- Why do we (disgust)? <- Why don’t we (scorn)?  Why (the downward arrow):  The Fall (knowledge as experience plus scorn, disgust, and regret).  Conversely, there is knowledge (or knowledge of good and evil), intelligence (Divine intelligence or mere common sense), and judgment (or Final Judgment):  Understanding via trial and error (or trials and tribulations), wisdom (or vicarious knowledge of death), and life (eternal life or death).

**This suggests that the original sin was disgust.  I relegate this disgust to ’snakes and fruits’ (male and female genitalia, respectively).  And I support my observation by noting that Adam and Eve covered themselves (hid and were ‘ashamed’).  Freud’s castration anxiety thus applies disgust to men who view women genitalia as penis envy would apply it to women who view male genitalia (such that disgust indicates the type of anxiety experienced and such that women could not understand this experience [directly] in terms of castration).

***The idea of king (or God) harkens to the age of tribalism (which predates tool use).  In the tribal system, death (or emasculation) of the king relegates his authority to the group (the tribe… or to women) who must then resurrect him (or bring an erection to him).  In the case of agrarianism as domestication (planting men in the ground), the king is kept disabled and so becomes the medicine man (as to a preacher on crutches).  Otherwise, only the penis is kept (in the form of, regressively: The royal scepter.  The tribal staff.  The caduceus. The magic wand.  Or, finally, the penis becomes a stinger… which might only be used once and at the penalty of death).

****Sacraments are physical agents of metaphysical agency.  The Church chooses what form they take.  Examples:  Going down is represented by baptism (being held under).  Golden showers are represented by chrismation (sprinkling and anointing by chrism).  And sex is represented by communion (or consummation, regarding married people).  Thus, the physical representative of the metaphysical penis is the re-erection, Jesus (Or, in Protestantism:  Jesus as a man who loves without a penis… and the devil’s phallus, or the devil fallacy).

*****We may understand teachers (cards) as women (or queens); suits as (wo)men in suits (or as suitors… ashamed and covering themselves); and the phallic-replacement as a diamond (where removal of the phallus takes the form of humiliation… as by getting on ones knees and offering tribute).  That is, we may understand diamonds in the form of diamond rings (marriage and the support of women through the sacrifice[ing] of men).

However this may also suggest a new phase in the development of civilization:
