One of our recent challenges was to create some dice from unwanted family silver heirlooms and it has been a very interesting challenge.

One of the many crafts Chiang Mai is known for is silverware and jewellery and we have many connections in the jewellery business here in Thailand, hence our confidence in taking on the project. However, it turns out that pouring a perfect cube of sterling silver is not as simple as one might imagine.

We decided to work with a silversmith whom we had not met before but were familiar with his work and have bought and forwarded many of his pieces. His first challenge was to grade the silver for purity and work out how much pure silver we would need to add to the mix in order to ensure the finished dice would be the required 92.5% silver content for sterling silver.
