Being ignored by your parents, and treated like you barely existed, wasn't an unusual existence for British children post-World War II and well into the 1980s. The 'vibe' it seems is that old reality is returning again. It's all a bit vague actually. Is two hours a day of screentime a lot for two year olds when previous generations were parked in front of TVs for far longer at the same age, and younger?

Did we all turn out so horrible and fukt from Excessive Screentime that we now panic it will destroy all generations to come?

If you think this is an odd or curious story and is holding back, I'll explain partly why below.

See how The UK Times newspaper here seems to spread equal blame for 'increased phone use' amongst both adults and children? Like five year olds went out and bought their own phones and with their credit cards or something?

Yeah, there's a reason for that.

It's worth remembering that the Murdoch Crime Family's UK Times was a lead promoter of 'Ditch print and pick up a phone/tablet!' in the late 2000s, and routinely pitched The Adults to 'Download our news app!'

The news media companies that insisted their readers and viewers and listeners 'Download Our Phone App' can never admit they were partly responsibility for that this incredible shift in how people spend their time and what their holding in their hands when they seek out news.

Social media sure did play its role, too, but the same news media companies were all in on that as well. 'Follow Us On Twitter/Facebook/Instagram!' every single time you attempted to seek out News on their website, or in their print newspaper pages.

Led by James, Lachlan and Rupert Murdochs, western news media "ditched print" for tablets and phones, well ahead of the public in late 2000s. They made the switch first, and then encouraged the public to do the same.

'Mad Scientist With Death Ray' prompted by Darryl Mason

From 'Readers Corner' of Astounding Science Stories, December, 1930:

'Why can't the writers think of something original? Why can't they make their stories logical? The merits of a story are not dependent on the number of people wiped out by one blast of a death ray!

But they all stick to the same old plot. A merciless but well-meaning scientist, or hordes from a foreign planet, wipe out thousands of American citizens at one blow. Hundreds of airplanes are disintegrated before they discover that the enemy is invulnerable. An ultimatum in domineering tones gives the terror-stricken populace forty-eight hours in which to surrender.

But, all unknown to the dastardly villains, an obscure young scientist labors to save his country and the girl he loves.

Fifteen minutes before the time set in the ultimatum he perfects a new weapon that soon sends the invaders to their well merited fate.

Surely you realize how ridiculous the whole affair is. It is only slightly less nauseating than the plot used in the stories of advanced civilizations where the hero is conducted on a sight-seeing tour by the individual in whose path he popped upon entering this new world.

I can't believe that more than a handful of my fellow beings are of such low intelligence that they can find enjoyment in such trash.'

Not only did generations of science fiction cinemagoers and SF TV watchers "find enjoyment in such trash" long after this letter was written in 1930, those Core Plot Lines are still being recycled today.

"The Youth Grew Weary Of Engraving Endless Verbiage On Slabs"

Just below is science fiction legend Olaf Stapledon, writing in 1930, on a new human race in the far distant future, busily trying to preserve the history of mankind, and The Knowledge, by a process of "engraving endless verbiage on slabs", after the loss of most technology to natural and man-made global disasters.

How both ancient and present day the below paragraphs by Stapledon now read, as our historians die off, online history is deleted, daily reality fractures and online Content Creators begin "to grow weary" of their missions, and in particular tire of expressing "personal manifestos of their views about existence"; abandoning their positions due to emotional exhaustion, primarily.

Stapledon on 'The Second Humans':

"The adults devoted much of their leisure during the long winters to the heroic labour of recording the outline of man's whole knowledge.

"This task was very dear to the leader, but the others often grew weary of it. To each person a certain sphere of culture was assigned; and after he or she had thought out a section and scribbled it down on slate, it was submitted to the company for criticism, and finally engraved deeply on tablets of hard stone.

Olaf Stapledon's 'Last & First Men'

"Many thousands of such tablets were produced in the course of years, and were stored in a cave which was carefully prepared for them. Thus was recorded something of the history of the earth and of man, the outlines of physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, and geometry.

"Each scribe set down also in some detail a summary of his own special study, and added a personal manifesto of his own views about existence.

Much ingenuity was spent in devising a vast pictorial dictionary and grammar, with which, it was hoped, the remote future might interpret the whole library."

But the new generation doesn't want to live in the past anymore:

"Brought into a ruined world without their own consent, they refused to accept the crushing obligation toward an improbable future. Hunting, and the daily struggle of a pioneering age, afforded their spirits full exercise in courage, mutual loyalty, and interest in one another's personality.

"They would live for the present only, and for the tangible reality, not for a culture which they knew only by hearsay. In particular, they loathed the hardship of engraving endless verbiage upon granitic slabs."

It jumps out at me how similar this all reads to present day reality for many young people.

While the world might not be completely ruined, the wreckage is evident.

Finding a job is The Hunt for food, shelter, security and safety.

They have to navigate a "new pioneering age" of A.I. technology.

The desire for The Real, or "tangible reality", grows only more intense in an era of manufactured realities.

And isn't creating online content and typing into tablets and phones basically "engraving endless verbiage upon slabs" still?

A mission to which the youth in present-day reality 2026 now grows weary.

Congratulations to Nano Banana for creating the A.I. image generation system that today produced The Most Disturbing A.I. Hand Of All Time.

Brrrr.

Gen A.I.'s 2021-2024 inability to generate human hands with five fingers on each hand became a now famous way to mock 'A.I. Art' and to also ignore what else Gen A.I. was actually getting right at the time.

It certainly looks like A.I. knows how many fingers a human hand has now, doesn't it? If that is supposed to be human.

Perhaps Elliot from E.T. became a human-E.T hybrid as he grew into middle age after childhood exposure to viruses from E.T's. home planet of Brodo Asogi?

Spielberg refuses to make an official sequel, so we will never really know.

This image was generated as part of a 'Movie Mash-Up Series.' Probably one of the greatest and most entertaining forms of A.I. Slop in existence today.

I may keep adding to this little adventure, as the technology to do so improves.

Yes, I know her clothes have changed, but I'm not putting these up claiming them as my own artistic creations. They were generated with A.I. off detailed prompts I wrote and some continuity failed. I'm not really interested in fixing or hiding A.I.'s mistakes. I want to keep them for future reference.

Looks like they're trapped in our world now. You can't just go climbing through any portal that suddenly breaks through the fabric of space time reality. How sad.

Apple Computers co-founder Steve Wozniak claims machines have already won 'their war' on the human race, and humans are destined to become little more than pets for advanced Artificial Intelligence in the coming decades:

"We're already creating the superior beings, I think we lost the battle to the machines long ago.

"We're going to become the pets, the dogs of the house."

He said all of a sudden, true artificial intelligence will creep up on mankind like an accident.

"Every time we create new technology we're creating stuff to do the work we used to do and we're making ourselves less meaningful, less relevant.

"Why are we going to need ourselves so much in the future? We're just going to have the easy life," he said.

Mr Wozniak said Singularity, where a machine seems like a human being and has feelings, can think and be motivated, seemed an impossible dream to him years ago.

"You don't realise it's happened until it's there and I think that awareness of machines is getting very, very close and we're getting close to where a machine will really understand you," Mr Wozniak said.

"My comment about the machines winning the war is partly a joke, but we've accidentally already put so much in place that we can't get rid of from our lives.

"Once we have machines doing our high-level thinking, there's so little need for ourselves and you can't ever undo it - you can never turn them off."

AI MUSIC: SONY, WARNER, UNIVERSAL WON'T TURN DOWN FREE MONEY

At some point in 2024-2025,, the biggest music companies will start releasing 'new music' from long-dead artists, made with AI.

I don't mean what The Beatles did with 'Now & Then', using AI to clean-up old demos, I mean completely new songs from dead artists generated by AI, that never existed before in any form.

I don't know how they will market this, or tamp down public revulsion and opposition, but I know they will try. Because Universal, Sony and Warners music companies will begin make a fkload of money from AI Music soon.

Or at minimum, they will see, on the horizon, the vast profits they can make.

I'm listening to 'Unplugged Grunge, 1993' right now, generated during early Google AI Music trials, and I can hear a very Cobain-like voice drifting in and out of very convincing new variations of 'Nirvana Unplugged' songs.

Does it sound good? Yes, and I reviewed the original album on its release, heard it 100s of times in 1993-1994.

Do I forget I'm listening to an imitation? Sometimes.

I'm not saying Nirvana Corp will allow AI to imitate them any time soon, but this option for 'new music' from any musical artist now exists, and specifically trained AI Music systems can get even closer to 'authentic' sounding imitations and variations.

The fact this can be done does not, of course, guarantee quality. But there's no way Sony and Universal and Warners are going to turn down Free Money like this, forever.

Some estates for long-dead musical artists will agree to release 'new' AI Music, others will resist. I'd imagine there will be some very ugly public debates as this era begins, particularly when elderly rock and metal band members are divided over releasing 'new' AI Music, when they can no longer play as fast or as hard.

But will people be convinced by AI Music? Shouldn't that be the most important thing of all?

It should be, but it won't be.

Some will be convinced by AI Music. If done right, AI Music imitations and variations of Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, The Beatles, Slayer, Metallica, Kate Bush, Korn and on and on, can sound very good now.

In 5 years time, unless you're familiar with the entire back catalogue, you may not immediately know if that 'new' Ozzy Osbourne-Black Sabbath song that sounds like it's from 1971 is AI-generated. The same may apply for every musician and singer and signature-sound producer.

But, there remains a Huge Problem.

AI Music imitating Nirvana or Hendrix or John Coltrane or Edith Piaf or Taylor Swift or Foo Fighters is only convincing IN ISOLATION.
I can listen to an hour of seemingly authentic AI John Coltrane, get right into it, but the moment I listen to Real John Coltrane, the illusion shatters.

When Synthetic and Authentic are side-by-side in playlists, AI Music is going to sound very weird and 'wrong' even if you don't know beforehand it's AI-generated. Perhaps this is a problem that can be solved, or maybe it can't.

But Sony, Universal and Warner will be betting on most music listeners not caring, not being trouble or bothered by an imitation. Noticing, but the reality of where this music came f
rom not actually mattering, when feasting on nostalgia is primary.

In a similar way to how audiences flocked to Digital Avatar ABBA or new tours by legendary bands when only one of the original members remain.

If the Synthetic is good enough, if an imitation of a long-dead artist racks up 10 million listens in a week, then AI Music will become very profitable for the biggest music companies very quickly, and we know what that means.

Don't we?

On January 1, 2024, Mickey Mouse becomes Public Domain. Anyone can now do whatever they want with the most famous cartoon character of the 20th Century. You can make horrific or nightmarish images of Mickey Mouse, like I did for this piece.

But Disney managed to keep full control of is Trademark Mouse for 100 years, getting copyright laws changed twice in recent decades to extend their ownership just that little bit longer.

In enforcing their trademarks and copyrights Disney went petty: daycare centres were banned from painting Winnie The Pooh images on walls for children to enjoy,

And went full Corporate Fascist:

Most AI Art machines won't allow "violent" images of President Biden or Trump to be created. It's hard to get them fighting each other now, for example. And that's fine. Not a lot of public benefits in violent depictions of public officials. We can survive without them.

Anyway, I'm not surprised these AI companies have tinkered their algorithms to block such image creation. Who wants that hassle?

But AI Art will still do alternatives. Say you wanted to depict Jesus Fighting Trump in the White House. You won't get Jesus delivering some roundhouse blow in Trump's face, but you will get Jesus attempting to take on Trump in some martial arts match.

Which is better, and funnier. It's certainly more entertaining. AI, in this instance, chose Comedy over Violence.

Just ignore Jesus's foot in the above pic. Brrrrr

But I was definitely surprised to discover that I can still make images of Jesus running amok at the White House with a flamethrower, which AI sometimes decided needed to be a gun instead.
