The Spokesman is Back

Greetings loved ones! It’s been a long time coming, but today, I’m thrilled to announce the return of "Spokesman Speaks." For those who’ve been with me since the early days, you know this blog has always been more than just words on a screen; it’s been a reflection of my passion for music, culture, and the vibrant stories that make our industry so unique. Life, as unpredictable as it can be, took me on a detour—a detour that nearly derailed my entire journey. But I’m here to tell you that the road back has been paved with purpose, and the best is yet to come.

In 2008, "Spokesman Speaks" was gaining momentum, and I was living my dream in the music industry. However, fate had other plans. A hit-and-run motorcycle accident abruptly brought everything to a halt. The physical injuries were just the beginning; the aftermath of the accident sent my life into a spiral that I could never have anticipated. The blog, my career, and the very essence of who I was seemed to be slipping through my fingers as I fought to recover both physically and mentally.

During those challenging years, I made the difficult decision to relocate to Miami, Florida. This move was a chance to start fresh, but it was also a time of deep reflection. While my body healed, my spirit grappled with the loss of the life I once knew. I questioned everything—my purpose, my future, and whether I would ever find my way back to the things I loved.

But here’s the thing about passion—it doesn’t die easily. Even in the darkest moments, the music industry continued to call me back. It whispered to me in the quiet moments, reminding me of the power of creativity, connection, and community. A few months ago, that call became impossible to ignore, and I found myself stepping back into the world I had left behind.

I’m excited to share that I was recently hired by Melodic Playground Radio as a writer and promoter. This opportunity reignited the fire within me, and with it came the realization that it was time to resurrect "Spokesman Speaks." But this time, it’s more than just a comeback—it’s a renaissance. I’m also launching a new blog dedicated to marketing, networking, and creating awareness for the incredible talent I have the privilege of working with.

This journey has been anything but easy. It’s been marked by pain, uncertainty, and countless obstacles. But as I stand here today, I can say with confidence that every challenge was part of a greater plan. The hardships I faced have only made me more resilient, more determined, and more committed to my mission than ever before.

If your 80'S baby like me, then your probably very familar with the sound of Neil Diamond. Around the time the Neil was getting inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, every radio station found a reason to play his tunes and after 20 years of excellence the award was certainly well deserved. With a career that began in the early 1960's neil Diamond is still alive and performing with nearly 60 years of rocking stages Neil Diamond had developed quite a fan base.

Naturally Father Time has taken his toll and nowadays Neil Diamond performs less frequently than fans would like. Millions of families look forward to the rare opportunity to see and hear the legendary singer. It's only natural but as each legend grows, thousands of musicians try to emulate and more rare than a shooting star,. emulation turns into the ultimate tribute.

The best way to tribute a legendary musician is to sing or play his song the exact way it was intended to be. Simply Diamond has done that and in a fashion that would make even the great Neil Diamond get the goosebumps.

Several years ago Paul Shaffer, who is the bandleader from “ The Late show with David Letterman”, heard Brian La Blanc singing a Neil Diamond song. He was amazed at how much he sounded like Neil Diamond. He suggested that Brian start a Neil Diamond cover band. Brian’s wife Rosanne La Blanc quickly came up with the name “ Simply Diamond” and the journey had officially begun.

The Newest Afrodisiac

Whats up weblings? I hope my newest blog feature reaches you all in great Holiday Spirits. As usual I am on the grind, life is very demanding and I'm trying to make sure I can do the demanding one day. I am taking the time today to share with you an awesome artist I recently became aware of. She is London born Soul singer and producer that most of you will appreciate.

Her name is Teni and she recently dropped a new album titled Afrodisiac. The product is a wonderful work of art and a timeless, soulful, sensual inspired piece with sultry vocals. Mix that with the dirty bass lines and hypnotic afro guitars, Teni is well on her way.

She won me over and I am sure she will get her hook in your eardrums giving the chance. I still have soooo much to learn about Teni but I have learned she is a big fan of Sade, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, with them and many more having a heavy influence on her musically. Motivated by the best Teni is very much on forging her own unique path in todays industry.

Christmas with them Hollywood Drunks

Every single year right after Halloween and just before Thanksgiving we get flooded with tons of newly released and very cheesy Holiday theme music. I don't know about you but 99% of the time it's unbearable. I hear the first few lyrics and regardless of the vocal talent, I'm racing to fill my ear drums with an alternative but this year I have finally found something different.

Join me this Holiday Season as I enjoy the joy with the awesome sound of the Hollywood Drunks. The music itself is a synthesis of different genres including hip hop, pop, rock, glam, reggae, and alternative. However, they all share the same message: if you are able to laugh at the humorous fragile nature of life, you'll stop viewing yourself as a victim and take back the power of confidence.

Initially the group was born to the name Winzenried but Around L.A., this group of alcoholic misfits are also know as The Hollywood Drunks, especially since the name Winzenried is too hard to spell, pronounce, or even look at without becoming completely exhausted. In hindsight, they realize now that it was a bad name choice but alas they are stuck with it like an old cold sore that never leaves, thus, the entirely not subtle name change to Winzenried aka Hollywood Drunks.

About her latest release, Norine says "Conventus The Eye of the Heart is Nora's ninth album born out of life’s unions and struggles. The past couple of years she encountered many unions in different disguises. She was diagnosed and cured of colon cancer. As she layed in my hospital bed last January, Nora listened to her roughly recorded demos of these songs and she says "I let them show me the way to health." Music was a healing activity that held her interest and it became a primary focus in her recovery.

This past year Nora also embraced a most magnificent union when she married her partner of 25 years on Halloween 2012 the anniversary of their first meeting. She also watched her partner's mother become more ill when her dementia advanced, however it ironically turned mystical as she witnessed a great love and strength as they moved through that particular life transition. Nora looked at the union in her own family of origin relationship and how her life’s journey as an adoptee has greatly shaped who she has become. All of these unions, union of self and body, self and spirit, family union, union of love and marriage are found in the creation of these songs and her new album.

In the words of Nora "This music is not only my story, it’s also your story in fact it’s our story, it’s everybody’s story. We have all known someone who felt lonely, defeated, betrayed, rejected, scared, and yet found the strength to get back up, fight and win. We all know when we find that union with someone, something or within ourselves we can overcome and celebrate and cherish everything. This is what Conventus is about for me. Conventus is a celebration of union and of life"

I have been many places and seen many faces but no matter how far I drift I can always find a little Latin flavor. I have plenty of Latin friends and I even speak some Spanish so it is very common to find to me blasting something different to your ear buds. Today I want to share a new sound by the name of Universo, a sound a I think many of your will grow to appreciate.

Universo is a band from Brazil founded by the very talented Leo Bor. Leo is the band producer, engineer and composer. He has seen the seed of a band grow in to a heavy load of momentum and since it's inception the band has continued to evolve into what is now a soon-to-be global name. Hard Rock or Soulful Pop, this band is sort of in that melting pop with an excellent twist of lyrically foreplay.

Mona Lisa Twins

OMG!... that's what my daughter says. She doesn't say oh my god, she literally spells it out O-M-G! She normally says it when she gets super excited about the boy band called One Direction but n todays blog feature you can be sure to credit the O-M-G to Mona Lisa Twins.

The word is actually an acronym and Oh My God is really just the peanut srinkles on top of your sundae. Austria's dynamic indie/60's backbeat pop duo the MonaLisa Twins are here to stay and even though they have gone a unique route the success of their latest full-length release "When We're Together" has proven to the masses that this goodness is the stock worth investing in.

These two 19 year olds are releasing more visionary music videos in one year than most artists do in a full career...6 so far, with 1 more on the way. Country All Star artist by the name is Billy Roberts hails from Moree, Australia with a signature blend of Americana-flavored country and rock showcasing his personal stories and capture the best elements that music can offer.

I recently had a chance to get familiar with the music of Billy Roberts and I must say it is truly hard to find underground talent of this quality. No More Mr Nice Guy is a song of homage for all the cowboys around the globe. the single which is also his debut, combines a devil may care attitude together with respectful nods to the place he grew up and the music he loves.

Mr Roberts gets a little personal on tracks like “I’m Gonna Get That Girl,” then he gets soulful with the bluesy tones of “Red Headed Baby,” and the honest, fiddle-filled simplicity of “I Was Young.” Records labels around the nation are constantly looking for a quality sound like this and we must give a big thanks for Australia for blessing us with this tunes.

Overall I am very impressed, not only does Billy Roberts get the party started but he make you feel like the party is in your very own backyard. Flight 1636 is Cleared for Take Off

These boys got talent! Together artists ClickClackBang and JazFlow make up "Flight1636."Collectively they have worked with Scarface, Trey Songs, Lil Boosie, Kevin Gates, DJ Toomp and several other industry names. Before actually working together, JazFlow and ClickClackBang actually became friends outside of music, even tho both had been pursuing the same dream for many years. One day, they decided to record a song togther. Then, they decided to record another. The rest is history.

As a fan and blogger I'm impressed and it's an honor to feature Flight 1636 on my blog. This Louisiana Rap group as plenty of tracks worth spinning but I'm really diggin Down That Road.

Down That Road is a breathe of fresh air and the classic sound is available for free download via the group's Reverb Nation music page. Although the track is my favorite, I have a feeling we have yet to hear the best this tandem has to offer.

With the upcoming release of the duo's new project titled "Flight 1636", JazFlow and Lil Click have decided to Release the music video for their First Single off the album. The song "Fuck & Fight" features another upcoming artist by the name of WoChee and it touches on a topic many of us can socially relate to.

Im still unsure what website "Flight 1636" will be officially released on but I do know the project is set to be released April 20th, 2013. I don't know whether or not the project will be for purchase or free download but one thing is for sure, I will be following these boys on twitter for the official word and patiently waiting for my copy. A Violin Band That Lights My Fuse

Just when I thought I seen and heard it all, along comes the band known as Fuse. They lit my fuse and they'll light yours if you let them. It's very easy to digest considering we all know the subtle and dramatic sounds of a violin but never before has a violinist entertained me as much as Fuse. I don't care what type of music you typically follow, after listening to Fuse you will have certainly broadened your horizon and I sure you will feel the same.

Fuse is actually a duo of Electric Violinists Linzi Stoppard and Ben Lee. These two music lovers have combined to deliver an innovative and one-of-a-kind sound. The violin duo released their debut album, FUSE, with Edel Records in March 2010 and their faithful following has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since.

It is not just the music, watch the live performances on Youtube. Linzi Stoppard and Ben Lee are carving out a unique musical niche and an equally exclusive fan base with their incredible sound. The truth is I have never seen Violins this way and for the rest of my life anything less entertaining than Fuse will be an extreme disappointment. They are eccentric. They are futuristic. They are the Violin band that lights my Fuse.

Many Are Connected

Also known as MAC, Many Are Connected is giving Washington State something to be proud of. The talk about has finally reached Southern California and after getting familiar with the band, it is once again time for the Spokesman to Speak.

Obviously M.A.C. stands for "Many Are Connected" and the collaboration of Roc Omega, Andy Cantrell, and Chris S. has begun to stand out like a MACK truck on the musically highway. Their music is characterized by the mainstay of dubstep music, blanketed over aggressive back beats and bass lines that make for excellent dance music for any club atmosphere.

The M.A.C. band has recently released a brand new LP "Dream" under the record label known as Planet 3 Jams. The LP is excellent and happens to be distributed globally by MondoTunes (MondoTunes.com). The project is available on iTunes for convenient purchase and download. I personally love the project and certainly recommend the purchase if your looking for something to get the juices flowing.

M.A.C. doesn't stop bringing in this uphill musical journey. We all know dubstep is a big part of Tomorrow's music and it appears Many Are Connected is in our foreseeable future. In fact, Presley-Radio.com recently included a handful of songs from the band's "Dream" track list to the station's rotation and with the band learning to social network, I'm sure it is safe to say, big news is soon on the way. Spiral Fire - Road Rising

Lately the rock fan in me has been searching for something new to cling to. Indie bands across the globe everyday bring something we can enjoy and support But as a child of the 80's with the ears of connoisseur I am always looking for the something special. Today I found something more than special and I would like to introduce each of you to my new favorite band.. Spiral Fire.

Spiral Fire recently released a very good single titled Road Rising. The single preceded the album release and has me blown away. The single, the video and I must mention.. the smoking hot lead singer. Her name is Sinclair Vernon and she will make your mouth water just before she melts your heart. She is a bonofide talent and she has an excellent band rocking out with her

The band apparently was born with Sinclair met guitarist Riley Miller through a mutual friend in late 2010, and they began to translate the songs she had started on keys into the hard, 90s-influenced rock that they had both grown up on and which was in short supply in the alt-folk and bluegrass-heavy area of Carrboro, NC. They later secured drummer Brian Gorman, bassist Keith Lewis, and rhythm guitarist Dom Ciampa to complete their sound.

This band rocks with passion and a very nostalgic flavor. I recommend them to all fans of music, especially children of the 80's. I don't know about the rest of you but I will call him a king. Honestly the artist known as Jebron has certainly exceeded all expectations of this music connoisseur. As a fan of Indie music and underground movements I have been a accustomed to hearing a few great joints followed by decent joints but this Jebron playlist sounds more like a Greatest Hits list. Just one listen and I'm sure most would agree, We might have a new King of R&B.

Jebron is a Atlanta, Georgia resident that is surely destined to become a household that. With a voice like Jebron, any man can eat but Jebron is a little more hungry than that and his drive is beginning to set him apart. with this artist's pace, soon, Jebron will be on that list. You Know, that baby making list... the list with artists like Al Green, Keith Sweat and the rest of those unique soulsters. Yes I said it. And I meant it.

At one point Prince Jebron had his single “Beautiful” featured on mainstream networks like MTV, BET, VH1. JeBron has even had the opportunity to collaborate with such artists as Wingo of Jagged Edge, V.I.C, and B Angie B.

Today you can find JeBron 's two standout EP’s: “Key 2 Life” and “Time of My Life – Chapter 1” online and in local retailer. His most recent single “Celebrate Life” was written to inspire and encourage everyone to look at the positive. Today We Meet Joy Focus

Music Monday Maniacs like me can appreciate almost anything that takes our minds of the dreadful feeling and crawling about out of bed Monday morning to restart the work week. Just like most of life's problems, Music tops the list of antidotes for the Monday morning blues and my very own personal suggestions for this week is the new sounds of Joy Focus.

As usual I am recommending a new sound for you to listen to and I have a strong feeling today's feature will be very well received but I suggest my followers take deeper look and listen when reviewing Joy Focus. The melodic joy commingled with extremely passionate lyrics combine to make this Spokesman an instant fan and I am sure any fan of good music would agree.

Joy Focus consists of Musician Rikk Currence & singer Holly Joy both of whom use Music as their spiritual vehicle to drive recklessly down musical highways with artistic expression. The band and its music are a story about the suburban family experience. Reflecting on all the things positive and negative that may stem from a life in the American middle class. Joy Focus is all over the place with a sound so classic, real fans can't help but pray for the reverb.

Since the band's debut in late 2001, they have been both a commercial and critical success, garnering a host of loyal fans as well as a myriad of kind words and acclaim from music press in both America & Europe alike. With three independent albums and seven featured singles on six different international releases, the band is working hard to become a household name. Joy Focus is certainly kid tested & mother approved and I bet you cant keep them a secret.

Child Safety Comes First

Happy Fathers day to all my Friends, Family and Followers. It has been nearly 10 years since I had my daughter and I must admit, it has not been easy. From the fears, the stress, the baby mama drama, the financial duties and the time it consumes, we can all agree, it takes a real man to be a great father.

Today I wanted to share some facts I have recently learned about in hope that this new knowledge may help all of the exceptional fathers out there. The first fact I found baffling is that the FBI receives over 2,100 reports of missing children each day. At first I said that cant be true but the truth is over 360,000 children are abducted or kidnapped each year. Which bring us to fact #2 and puts the daily statistic at just over 1,000 abductions per day.

I don't know about you but personally it is hard for me to stomach the fact that over 1,000 children get abducted each day and as a devoted father I wanted to remind all of you that Child Safety Comes First.

Allow me to introduce you The Child Safety Project. The Child Safety Project is a new website devoted to combat these awful statistics. The website informs the public about their services and how the company offers extended hands to local businesses, all kinds of child educational facilities (public and private schools, pre-schools, kindergartens, children day-care centers etc.) and families that put safety first.

I still have a lot to learn about The Child Safety Project but from my understanding, the company provides Child Safety Kits for children and their families. These safety kits are used by the FBI, America's Most Wanted, Amber Alert and more. For some, these safety kits have saved lives. We all know what it is like to lose something we want or need but losing someone we love is usually unbearable. So lets not risk it, do what you can, when you can.
