GENERAL

The Toyota Vios is a 4-door subcompact sedan developed for the South East Asia, China, and Taiwan markets.

Introduced in 2003, the Vios serves as a replacement of the Toyota Tercel (called the Toyota Soluna in Thailand and Indonesia), which filled the Asian subcompact market for a 1.5 litre, below the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry, both of which are also marketed in the region. The Vios is marketed alongside the Toyota Yaris in most countries in South East Asia, which offered another option for a hatchback, when it officially entered the region's market in 2005. In the United States, the second generation Vios is known as the Toyota Yaris sedan.

The second generation Vios was first unveiled in Malaysia on October 5, 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, two weeks ahead of its official launch on October 19, 2007.

The car, like its predecessors, is powered by a 1NZ-FE 1.5 litre four-pot engine with VVT-i but includes a redesigned air intake and exhaust system to improve low to mid-range torque. While the gear ratios of Vios is unchanged, its transmission is now a Super ECT four-speed automatic and improved programming for the transmission control unit. Electric power steering was also included on the new Vios.

The Honda Insight is a hybrid electric vehicle manufactured by Honda and the first production vehicle to feature Honda's Integrated Motor Assist system. The first-generation Insight was produced from 1999 to 2006 as a three-door hatchback. The 2000 Insight ranks as the most efficient United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified gasoline-fueled vehicle ever, with a highway rating of 61 miles per US gallon (3.9 L/100 km; 73 mpg-imp) and combined city/highway rating of 53 miles per US gallon (4.4 L/100 km; 64 mpg-imp).

Honda introduced the second-generation Insight to its home market of Japan in February 2009. The car went on sale in the United States on March 24, 2009.[4] At $19,800 as a five-door hatchback it is the least expensive hybrid available in the US.[5] In December 2010, Honda introduced a less expensive base model for the 2011 model year priced US$18,200. The Insight was launched April 2009 in the U.K as the most affordable hybrid on the market with a starting price from £15,490 (otr), which was more than £2,000 lower than other hybrids, and became the best selling hybrid for the month.

Honda's Insight, billed as the cheapest gas-electric hybrid on the market, ranked as the top-selling vehicle in Japan for the month of April 2009, the first time a hybrid has clinched that spot. During its first twelve months after first available in the Japanese market, the second-generation Insight sold 143,015 units around the world.

HONDA FREED

The Honda Freed is a Mini MPV produced by the Japanese automaker Honda since 2008. The vehicle is a replacement for the Honda Mobilio. The Freed is based on the Jazz/Fit platform. Three different versions of the Freed are available: a seven-seat version which features captain’s seats in the second row; an eight-seat version; and a five-seat version. Honda also stated that a wheelchair-accessible model is offered in addition to versions with a side lift-up seat and passenger lift-up seat. The Freed is equipped with a 1.5L engine with 118 horsepower, which is the same engine that is used in the Honda Jazz/City, but the engine used in the Honda Freed has a small difference in torque. For example, the Honda Freed's engine has torque of 148 Nm, while the Honda Jazz/City had 120 Horsepower with torque of 145 Nm.

On the 21st March 2009, the Freed was launched in Indonesia, the second country where the Freed was released after Japan. It will be assembled at Honda's Karawang Plant and will be exported to other Asian markets. For the Asian market, Honda Freed ground's will be high up 20 mm than Honda Freed for Japanese Domestic Market.

In September 2009, it was announced that a hybrid version would be available by 2011.

On 22 April 2010,the Freed was launched in Malaysia, the fifth country where the Freed was released after Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. Honda Malaysia target to sold 1200 units a year in Malaysia.

On 23 Jan 2011, Freed was officially launched in Hong Kong. Unlike other non-Japan markets, all Freeds sold in Hong Kong are manufactured in Japan and 7-seat version is available.

KUALA LUMPUR: It is not often that a car marks an important milestone in a brand’s journey but the Kia Forte is one such car. The fresh design, confident lines, improved quality and exciting driving dynamics all point to a company reborn to take on the world.
Launched yesterday (25 November 2009) at a glittering ceremony at the Pavilion shopping centre in Bukit Bintang, the Forte certainly made an impact with those present.

Naza Group chairman S.M. Nasaruddin S.M. Nasimuddin said: "The Forte is a complete package for those who want style, functionality, technology and safety. Its low wedge shaped design also enhances the performance of the car with increased fuel efficiency. The Forte is capable of delivering its worth and will be a frontrunner in its league."

Naza Kia is optimistic of achieving 6,000 unit sales in 2010, taking 11 per cent of the non-national B and C segments. The Forte will contribute up to"23 per cent of Naza Kia's forecast sale of 26,000 units". In the last year, when most other car companies were struggling to shore up their fast declining sales, Kia and Korean counterpart Hyundai racked up impressive sales and now it's the fifth largest carmaker in the world.

The Kia Forte is a key element of its future strategy, the C-segment family sedan is its global breadand- butter car, just as the Civic is to Honda and the Corolla is to Toyota, and the Korean carmaker knows that it cannot fail in this important market.

Designed by Peter Schreyer, Kia’s new head of design, the Forte has what it takes to become a truly desirable car — good looks.

Naza Kia Sdn Bhd, the local assembler and distributor of Kia products in Malaysia, is confident it can forge a new image for the brand based on the strong selling points of the Forte.

Naza Kia is aiming the Forte at buyers of Japanese C-segment market.

"While Hyundai does have a car in the same class (Hyundai i30), we do not feel that they are the direct
competitor. We want to go after buyers of Japanese cars," says Nicholas Gomez of Naza Kia's senior manager corporate communications.

That intention is made clear by the high level specifications set for the Malaysian market. Even in the 1.6-litre SX variant, the Forte comes fully fortified with a long list of gadgets — which include antilock brakes and vehicle stability programme, twin airbags, automatic climate control, six CD in-dash changer and keyless entry.

The 1.6SX also has a red start button, a major technological innovation but it is a feature commonly found in cars that battle in several price classes higher than the RM81,800 that Naza Kia is asking.
According to the company, they ticked nearly all the options box when specifying the car and it includes a premium sound system with six speakers and a trip computer that calculates instantaneous and average fuel consumption as well as the distance to refuel.

Buyers will also appreciate the noticeable leap in quality, both in terms of materials and build quality.
Body panel gaps are consistent and smaller than before, giving the car an overall more expensive look.
The Forte starts at RM76,800 for the 1.6-litre EX and tops at RM93,800 for the 2.0SX.
Those choosing the 2.0SX will enjoy class leading safety equipment which includes a six-airbag active safety system. This is a feature that is hard to find even if you are paying close to RM200,000.
