Just make sure the other 6 days your hardcore to your FAVAO program. I know this might come as a shock to some of you to hear me say this. But like I said at the beginning of this post, I just tell it like it is.

Today is my first day in Week 5. This week presents some logistical challenges since I’m going to be on the road a lot this week. I’ll keep you informed the best I can with my schedule. Best of success to all my FAVAO brothers and sisters!

So Sunday is the big Super Bowl XLVI with the Giants & the Patriots at Indianapolis. Super Bowl parties are right up my alley. Same with birthday parties, St. Patrick’s Day parties, Halloween parties, Christmas parties, New Year’s Eve parties…ok, I just like parties. I like to have fun. Sue me.

The problem many of us have, including myself, is that we tend to indulge at these parties. We grab a plate of bbq meatballs, bacon-wrapped scallops, cheesy potatoes, chicken wings, and broccoli salad. At least that’s what I would do. And then I’d convince myself that since I had the broccoli salad, I was eating healthy. Sound familiar?

The one thing that stands out the most for me, is the conviction I have to change. These past 24 days have been fairly easy when it comes to the food since it’s so good, and so much. The fight of pushing through the hunger hasn’t been a problem like I’ve had to deal with on past diets. But to throw away all the progress that’s been made just for a few minutes of self-gratification, is pointless to me.

I’m not saying that I’m never ever going to eat the aforementioned foods again, but it’s about discipline. Disciplining yourself in eating healthy, and purposefully plan the times that you don’t. Some of you may be familiar with Men’s Health editor-in-chief David Zinczenko. David’s philosphy is that you should get to the point in your weight management that you eat healthy meals every day for 6 days, and if you choose, you can take 1 day off a week and eat whatever you want–in moderation of course. He talks about this in his book The Abs Diet, where it can help your metabolism jump start the following day when you’re back in routine.

Speaking of The Abs Diet, there are some striking similarities to FAVAO and this program. There’s a men’s and women’s book you can check out by clicking the link above if you’d like to check out the book on Amazon. The book’s title is a little misleading with the word “diet.” David makes it clear that this indeed is a lifestyle change.

So in closing, those of you planning a Super Bowl party on Sunday, just plan ahead. Be prepared that there is going to be food there that you probably shouldn’t eat on your FAVAO program. Make sure you stick to your time schedule, supplements, and routine as best as possible, so that you don’t have the disappointment the day after.

One month down, 11 more to go. Isn’t it amazing how quickly time flies? I know it almost seems like an overstatement each time we hear it, but it’s hard to believe today is the last day of January 2012. This is my 23rd day on FAVAO, which means I have 61 days left to go on my 12-week reset program.

Of course this doesn’t mean that in 61 days I’m going to jump back into my old eating habits, it just simply means the first phase is complete. The whole concept of FAVAO is training our minds and our bodies how to eat properly.

Keep in mind what I said a few weeks ago. This isn’t a weight loss race, it’s a marathon. Eating properly the rest of our lives is crucial. It doesn’t mean we can’t splurge every now and then, but what it does mean, is that we must make a conscious decision each and every day to eat healthier.
