Warm Colors, Cool Colors

With the exception of true black, which is always Cool, every single color that exist has both Warm and Cool versions.

A Warm red, for example is tomato red, with visible yellow undertones; while cherry red is a typical Cool red, since it has strong blue undertones.

Colors are classifed as Warm or Cool; and also as either Bright or Muted.

The two seasons with the most daylight give their names to the two Bright categories: Summer, which is Bright Cool; and Spring, which is Bright Warm.

The two seasons with the least daylight give their names to the two Muted categories: Winter, which is Muted Cool; and Autumn , which is Muted Warm.

Summer colors are clear and bright, without any trace of yellow. They are like the primary colors on a color wheel. When white or grey is added to the Summer colors, the muted colors of Winter are produced. Winter colors are virtually watered down versions of Summer Colors.

The same thing is true with the two Warm palettes, Spring and Autumn.
Spring colors are clear and bright, and they have visible yellow undertones. As soon as grey is added to Spring colors, they are transformed into the dusky and musted colors of Autumn.

Most people dress to match the season of the year. It is a mistake. If you want to look better, you need to wear colors from your Color season.
