You bet Meadia Solutions! I hit submit before ranking anything at all! I'm going for three stars since my second meal there was an epic fail. I bet third time will be the charm though. There are always a few wrinkles to iron out with. Ew places!

Volare at Skky Hotel - Amazing Salad and Service (5 stars)

The pear and pecan salad is incredible. Greens were crisp and dressing delicious. I had it while I was in to fix a wireless issue . They also fed me when I crashed my dirtbike near their hotel last summer and was covered with mud. Food and service was great then too .

Sarabee, isn't your review a little 'cold' to give only one star? Sounds like everything was great except the temperature which is more an issue for the landlord. The -40 snap we had probably didn't help . Hopefully things (and your reviews) warm up soon. I did think your pun was good.

Bent Spoon Cafe - Bent Spoon, where art thou? (4 stars)

I used to love popping down to Bent Spoon - it's less than a half block from our office building - to get an americano or latte, sometimes a sandwich. But, sometime after Christmas, they just disappeared. Now the space is filled with discount sale items from retail stores in the Hougen's Centre. Bent Spoon, where art thou?

Real Canadian Superstore - It's a Superstore, not Food Fair (3 stars)

I cannot get the selection they have here anywhere else. When our child was born, it was Superstore to the rescue. I do not want to have to run all over town to buy groceries (meat from the Deli, fresh fruit/vegetables from Extra Foods, infant stuff from Wal-Mart, remedies from Shoppers, etc. etc.) so it's one trip to SuperStore for me! Yes: they often seem to have empty holes where the milk or eggs or cheese should be. Yes: the line-ups are aggravating. Yes: the "service" seems to be located on another planet. I don't need service from a giant big-box outfit like this. I need cheap consumer goods and food. I get exactly what I am expecting whenever I venture into that warehouse atmosphere, but, it's cheap. After decades of being smashed in the wallet by the "shipping" Yukon-tax (I'm looking at YOU, Hougen's group), it's refreshing to pay what I feel are reasonable prices for everyday items. This is not a store that gives a spectacular shopping experience by any means, but, it's very utilitarian and the prices are exactly what we need in Whitehorse. Plus: they are Canadian owned and operated. If you are okay with average, this is the place to come.

Riverside Grocery - It's showing its age (3 stars)

I am confused about the below reviews. Are these people going to the same Riverside that I have been to (many, many, many times over decades)? Sure, they have lots of stuff, but, there is no rhyme or reason to the little stashes of interesting things. If you are a "normal" person, it's a little off-putting when all there seems to be are random heaps of all sorts of special (diet-restricted) items and an absence of normal convenience store type things. I think this store is only special because it's the only place within a few kilometeres to buy any grocery item. It's getting run-down and is also a little smelly. It's okay, just not fantastic or fabulous. Meh.

Alpine Veterinary Medical Centre - Always has the health of our silly cat in mind (5 stars)

We have been taking our feline(s) to this vet clinic since they opened. The staff always care about what the cat may or may not have. They offer alternatives, including no treatment whatsoever so I don't think they are out for cash. Our cat is very old now (we have no accurate idea about her age), but, her health is good based on the care she has received over the years at Alpine. Their vets are very smart and caring. The front-end staff are fantastic too.

Matheson Oil Burner Service - Great Service (5 stars)

I only had to endure one night of chilliness and then I called Matheson Oil Burner Service on the advice of a good friend. The owner arrived right away and explained the possible scenarios. He replaced the pump and made sure everything was running up to snuff before giving me a complete run through of the system and my invoice before leaving. Plus they take credit cards and the repair cost will just go toward my next vacation. I totally recommend this company. They are honest, straight-forward experts and you won't be disappointed or left feeling like you got taken for a ride.

The 80's era question of Where's the Beef has now been answered with a Moo-Yeah in Whitehorse! The Cork and Bull has a great menu and everything my friends and I sampled was delicious. My only beef (pun totally intended) was that the restaurant was SO cold!!! If they get a few heaters to warm that place up I know it will become a favoutite place to go for a delicious meal.

Burnt Toast Cafe - Great Food in an Icy Setting (4 stars)

I love, love, love this place. They have a straight-forward menu and the food is always good. My only complaint is that it is freezing cold in the cafe. I like to go to a place on a cold day and feel nice and cozy - you know, take my time, sip my drink, order more, stay longer - that sort of thing, but it is just too cold to do any of the above at Burnt Toast. I look forward to the summer when I can take my time and enjoy the excellent food at this local eatery!
