Basketball Court Dedication (open to the public)

Join the Phoenix Suns Gorilla and former Suns greats such as Kevin Johnson and Cedric Ceballos at the dedication of the Hoops Project regulation-size basketball court. Thanks to a grass-roots effort, including APS and the Phoenix Suns, a regulation-size basketball court available to the public including new lights for night play is coming to Winsor Rotary Park, 20th Street and 34th Drive (between avenues B and C). Yuma Parks and Rec will maintain the park, located on the east side of the grounds. During construction, please excuse possible disruptions in the use of the walking path, and please respect construction fencing.

Sinks aren't always available AND when my oldest was potty training and my youngest wasn't standing, I couldn't hold the baby and lift my oldest up to reach the sink. Okay, well I could have held the 2 kids, but I was missing that third and fourth hand necessary to help my oldest actually wash his hands while hoisted up to the sink ;-). First off, I'd just like to lay it out there that I try to be open minded about the choices people make regarding vaccinations. Both of my boys have had full doses of everything I was told to give them and I have no regrets, but I also never did any research to make a decision beyond the recommendation of my pediatrician. I am however, always interested in hearing other people's stories about the decisions they've made and why. My friend Erika posted this video and I thought I would share it and hope that it can bring out a "positive" discussion among us moms. Please be respectful when commenting, but I would love it if you posted about your vaccination decisions.

Free child care for families of deployed active duty members is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until Sept 30 at no cost.

This OEF care is in addition to the evening care currently available. The same process applies for reservations. Reservations must be called in and if you do not cancel/do not show up for care, there is still a $10 no cancelation fee applied that the family is responsible for paying. Reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance and the front desk staff must be notified that the reservation is for OEF child care at the time the reservation is made.

There are spaces in each age group that are held the week prior. If reservations are not made then those spaces will be released for use by regular hourly care patrons. If there are questions, please feel free to call Shanna Thomas at 928-269-3260 or Jennifer Dibble at 928-269-2350.

The Yuma Ballet Academy is the ballet school affliated with Ballet Yuma. The lessons start at age 3 and up.

The Early Childhood Dance Program is for children age 3-6 and are offered both in the day and evening. The classes are 45 minutes in length. Click here to see schedule. Their 8-week into program for 3 & 4 year olds began January 25th.

The ballet program starts at age 6 and continues through an adult class. The classes start at 45 minutes but can be longer depending on skill level of the dancer. The dancers skill level will also determine the number of days per week he/she will be attending class.

Yuma Ballet Academy is a clasical ballet school. The students are only offered ballet (no tap, hip hop or jazz) and have the opportunity to participate in Ballet Yuma productions including the Nutcracker. The dress code for the academy is pink tights, a black camesole or tank style leotard and pink ballet shoes for girls and black shorts, a white tee shirt and black ballet shoes.

Arizona Classical Ballet offers ballet, pointe, comtemporary, tap, hip hop, tumbling, jazz / pilates, praise & worship & zumba. They have classes begining at 20 months!

In addition to their weekday schedule, they also offer classes Saturday morning for toddlers and preschoolers. A couple of friends take their daughters on Saturday and say that Mrs. Barbara is wonderful with children. Click here for their full schedule.
