70's Fashion and How to Wear it Now

I love the 70's fashion. It's so simple and wholesome looking. Not to mention I hate almost everything modern...

The 70's fashion mostly consisted of bell bottom jeans, light weight fabrics, and platform shoes, all of which I absolutely love, especially the bell bottoms and platform shoes! But, you know, going all out in 1970's attire might make you look funny and out-dated. So, I will share with you how to wear the 70's now.

This is a perfect example how to wear 70's fashion a little more modernly. Perhaps you've noticed while strolling around the mall that maxi dresses and skirts, baggy shirts, super flare jeans and big belts are pretty common lately-- all of which are the basics of 70's chic.
So...
Instead of going for super high waisted, super-ultra flare bell bottoms, you should get a lower rise, and smaller flare to represent a modern fit while still clearly showing the 70's without actually being stuck in the 70's. Tuck in your shirt while wearing high waisted jeans, but allow the shirt to be out of the jeans a little, for a loose and easy feel. Wear very neutral colors for an earthy hippieook and don't be afraid to add prints like paisley and floral.

This kind of platform bootie is perfect to wear under flare jeans and maxi dresses and skirts. Just make sure you can walk in them firts and that they are brown or tan and not black or gray or some other unnatural color. Keep and neutral and hippy, while keeping it modern.

If you want to wear 70's party or club clothes you should shoot for something like what is above. 70's club wear was cute, but sexy. Long sleeves with belts over them, and bright colored shorts, and gogo boots were popular. Your shorts should be conservative and should not look too skimpy. And the gogo boots and shirt should be light, pastel colors and shorts vibrant, dark colors.. A sash or do-rag over your hair is not bad, either.

Long, straight hair was very popular in the 70's and is perfect to achieve a 70's chic look. It's totally achievable either with natural length or extensions. Do not go overly long with it, to keep it within modern length. To dress up this look add a headband or shash around your head.

Voluminous, wispy curls are almost iconic to the 70's celebs, bringing memories of farrah fawcett to mind. This can easily and quickly be done by simply curling your hair away from your face with a 1-1 1/2 inch curling iron. However, avoid going over board with the volume, you want it to look casual and natural.

70's makeup was very natural and light. Go for a pastel blue or aqua smoky eye, using white frosted eyeshadow to hightlight your brow bone. Use black liquid liner to create a cat eye and go over the black line with dark purple eye pencil to blend and add smokiness. Swich the big volume of modern lashes for big length on both top and bottom lashes. Since 70's makeup played up the eyes a lot, a peach or bronze blusher over the cheek bones and a pale pink lipstick should be enough.

I haven't posted in forever now. Guess why? You'll never guess it, so I'll tell you. I am taking close care of two hamsters and raising a baby parakeet. So exciting! I got to get these pets because I am back with my mom and she cannot put down a request for cute little animals.

Sammy and Noodle are two male fancy syrian hamsters. They are littermates, meaning they've been together since birth. They are both little boys. I hope to keep them together peacefully. I've heard all the horror stories about keeping syrian hamsters together, since they are very terratorial and they may fight till death :(. I don't want this to happen, but they are both full grown and sexually mature, about 8 weeks old and they show no signs of unhappiness. If you know hamsters, I would love to hear you're opinion on these two guy coexisting. Here take a look at them :)

Rio is a baby boy budgie. He was hand raised at Zoo Creature's, but I still have to teach him. Right now he's going through birdy pueburty, which means he is very cranky and very Dr.Jeckel Mr.Hyde like. One minute he'll be the sweetest little birdy and they next minute he'll be the loudest, snappiest bird that won't give up without a fight. He keeps biting me, not hard, but it doesn't feel good and I don't like the idea of an aggressive bird. I'm trying to make him stop, hopefully he will. He's just starting to sing, though, which is super pretty to hear before going to bed! Here he is :D

My Makeup and Hair Evolution of 2012

My makeup and hair looks have changed so much over the year of 2012. I went from gyaru all the way to the 70's in less than one year. Amazing...

Right around the beginning of 2012 I became fascinated with the Japanese style of gyaru. I loved the eye makeup and the sweet and girly look and fair skin.

In Winter, I went for the 50's inspired look, with gold and brown smoky eyes, rosy cheeks, and red lips.

Around late Winter and Spring I had an ultra-girly palette of pinks, purples, browns, and whites. I often did a cat eye and pink lips.

In the beginning of Summer I had a very natural look. With no eyeliner or mascara, gold eyeshadow, bronzer, tinted moisturizer, and lipgloss.

What I like to do now...

I like the naturally pretty 70's inspired look. I do that often, with rosy blush, and thick eyeliner. I also like the smoky, rocker, 60's makeup like this...

Now for the hair...

(no real pics, sorry, i just wanted to show you what I went for, most of the pictures i have, i have straight hair)

I used have straight/wavy hair with an uneven side part, I had no bangs or layers

Then I had peicey, curls, still with the same haircut

Then I had wavy hair with bangs

Then I had pushed back, wavy hair, with no bangs or layers

And now I have a messy shag, with long layers and bangs inspired by the 70's.

Surfer Hair

I haven't styled my hair at all this summer. I usually just wake up and that's it. You'd think that it would look horrible and shaggy looking, but I've realized it looks awesome when you enhance the messy, undone look.

My mom gave me an old-time gypsy shag with bangs. (I will show you sometime, but I don't feel like uploading pictures right now :P). That haircut works perfectly with that style.

Think this...

The trick for perfect messy surfer hair is to do nothing to your hair except brushing and maybe blow drying (upside down drying) and using the right products to keep your hair looking like you just came back from the beach, but controlling the frizz and messiness of it.

What I use to get that look is FX Surf Head Extreme Texturing Paste. It controls frizz and keeps the shape of your style while making a beachy, undone wave. Rub this in your palms and run fingers through your hair. Then flip your hair upside down and shake your head. Then scrunch and place pieces where you want them and ta-da!

That's all you really need to achieve surfer hair, you could also go swimming in the ocean, or a salt water spray would do good. You just need the right products. It's a very simple style and you're sure to love it!

If you're part of the "yoga community" on the internet then you've probably seen this:

Watch the video on Youtube and you'll see the countless sexual comments on this girl's body. What you'll also see is people hating on this video, explaining how it's too sexualized and how it's ruining the image of yoga.

You will also see countless blog posts and news articles explaining how this so called "controversial" video is ruining the image of peaceful, wholesome yoga.

Why the Sexy Equinox Yoga Video Pissed Me Off

My opinion is that the people saying this video is sexual are making the video look sexual themselves. How could anyone look at that video and think "SEX!"???

It's a form of art portraying the raw human form. Just because that girl is in her underwear does not make this video sexual. She's half naked only to show how the body moves, how the body looks as is moves from each pose. Not to turn people on or cause some sexual controversy.

There is a difference between sex and art. The human form is beautiful and it can do so many amazing things. Equinox was trying to portray this. They were not in any way trying to ruin the image of yoga. They were most likely trying to expand the image of yoga past fitness into art.

I absolutely love yoga!

So... I shall talk about it's fantastical benefits in this post!

Because now that it's summertime and it's all warm and stuff, we can be zen without the distractions of school, work (unfortunately, some of still need to work), and the coldness of non-summer months. Summertime is the perfect time for a little you time. And you know that's what we all need.

As you may know, yoga has been "all the rage" for the modern world. Mostly because of celebrities flaunting it's amazing bikini body results, but also for it's overall results. Not just the physical side, but the inner stuff, the deep stuff that people look to yoga for.

Got Zen?

Zen is more than sitting cross-legged in a candle filled room with your eyes closed going "uh-ummmmmm" for three hours. Zen is feeling balance with yourself, like yin-yang.

Think Buddha. He teaches that you should have a balance of peace within your body, mind, and soul. Yoga is proven to put you in natural balance with yourself and increase your senses. It like awakens your mind and helps you be in touch with yourself and reality.

Stop before you rip your hair out!

Yoga is naturally a stress reliever naturally. With the deep breathing patterns and slow fluid motions, it relaxes your body and your mind. A lot of the times, yoga is prescribed to patients of depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and other mental illnesses. It relaxes you and puts you in balance with yourself. Therefore, you feel better about yourself and the life your are living.

Yes, now for the physical part of yoga, that I knew your were dying to here. It does improve almost every aspect of your body except maybe your face--wait no, it helps your face be less tense. So, scratch that-- yoga helps every aspect of your body.

Yoga tones and lengthens muscles, burning fat. Which replaces bulky muscle and fat with lean muscle mass. With all the stretching, fat cells are stretched, reducing cellulite (no creams work, okay, so try yoga). It improves legs, arms, and abs, without machines or weights-- amazing! Also, if you do a little bit of yoga after a work out it reduces muscle strain and bulk.

It also helps with posture so you don't have a sway-back, or some other freaky back shape. It straightens your back and helps you carry yourself. It also reduces back pain.

If you do a more challenging or active type of yoga such as: bikram, ashtanga, or power yoga then you will raise your metabolism, burn more calories and lose weight. If your maintain a regular practice then you will reduce chance of weight fluctuations.

Um, now for the awkward part... Yoga also helps with your sexy time. I really don't know how, but it does. It has to do with muscle condition and flexibility or something, but doctors and sexy time specialists say it and I believe them...

Bronzer: Do's and Don'ts

Jeesh, I have not been here for a while! One is because I'm a procrastinator, and two because...

IT'S SUMMERTIME!

and with summertime comes sun, sand, and... tans! Usually, we try to accentuate our tans. And what I usually see is girls over-accentuating their tans with ten pounds of the most orange bronzer, which is not good. So, I shall show you how to accentuate your tan with bronzer without over doing it.

We all know that bronzer can look very orange leaving you looking like... well.. an orange. So, to avoid looking like and orange we need to make sure the bronzer is a good shade. So, it accenuates your newly tanned skin tone.

So, to do that we can pick a bronzer one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone. DON'T pick one that is five times darker. Do pick a light, medium, or slightly darker shade to add warmth and glow, but not a fake orange hue.

Another thing we can do is find a bronzer that compliments our undertones. DON'T pick a very warm shade when you have a cool undertone, or a very cool shade when you have a warm undertone. Neutral undertone skins can get away with both cool and warm bronzers, though. DO pick a cool shade when you have a cool undertone and a warm shade when you have a warm undertone. This will create a warm and natural glow without looking fake.

Tip: If you do not know what your undertone then listen here!

If your skin tone is very pink, or peach without much yellow you may have a cool undertone. You will also have very blue veins when you look at the veins of your wrist and your skin will most likely be of the pale sort.

If your skin tone is dominated by yellow, gold, and orange hues you may have a warm undertone. You will also have very green veins in the wrists and your skin will mostly likely be of the medium or deep sort.

Neutral skin tones will be a mixture of both and you can wear any shade of makeup!

Another thing we can do to ensure pure perfection with our bronzer routine is to make match our skin type with the bronzer type. DON'T pick a shimmery bronzer when you have oily skin and do not pick a matte bronzer when you have dry skin. DO pick a matte bronzer when you have oily skin, to reduce shine while creating a glow and pick a shimmery bronzer when you have dry skin to create a more dewy and healthy glow. If you have combination skin then pick which one is more comfortable for you.

Guess what? I found a little box turtle! Well, he's like a tortoise because he lives on land. My sister named him Harley. We didn't keep him, of course. We let him go in the garden ^_^ so he can go and crawl around and eat bugs and flowers or whatever. I gotta say, he was a pretty zen turtle, he modelled for the camera and everything!

Starving For Fame

I really don't like bringing this person up again because of hold old it has gotten, I'll admit it, but they just sparked something in me and I need to talk about it. So, once again I am bringing up VenusAngelic.

Please don't tell me that I'm trying to gain fame myself from talking about VA, I'm not trying to, I just write about anything that strikes me as interesting in my field of blogging, okay. Oh yeah, and I DO NOT hate VA so I don't wanna hear "stop hating on a young, innocent girl" or "she didn't do anything to you" and bla bla bla, I don't hate people I don't know, I just don't desire how she displays herself on the internet. This is not a trolly post, it's just my opinion on a subject.

So, what I wanted to talk about is VA's increasing hunger for fame. It seems like she's doing anything she can to gain more views and subs on Youtube. Well, not everything, but it just seems like she is displaying herself more to get more views. Of course, I don't know this person and I have no idea of her real intentions.

Do you see what I mean? She is trying way too hard to be like a real, living doll to the point where she is compared to the looks of a sex doll. She's losing that smiley, excited expression and replacing it with a silent, emotionless stare. She's displaying her body in lolita outfits and strutting in short shorts with fishnet stockings. You are not going to sit there and tell me that perverts, pedophiles, and lolita fetishes are not being turned on by this. You're in denial for some reason if you say they aren't. That's what you have to expect when you post videos like that, anyhow. It's like she knows this and wants the attention and fame from it.

She is so young. I don't know how young, but she really should be careful by how she gets more views and subs. Displaying herself to people all over the world might have bad consequences and outcomes. But, who am I to say? But, it is common sense that when you display your body to people, in particular the people that aren't really sane or all that normal, you could end up with a stalker or pedophile on your hands.

I'm just stunned by how our generation is so into media, fame, and sex. That's what everything is about, it seems. Especially on the internet. It's quite sad how I see so many girls on the internet become pictures on a screen just displaying their looks for fame and attention when before it was their charisma, humour, and personality, along with looks that got them their fame.

I believe that girls don't need to display themselves for attention and fame. It's a waste of youth, in my opinion. In short, it's spending your youth entertaining and pleasing people you will never meet. You could be enjoying your youth while you have it instead of becoming a pedophile magnet. It's a shame really.

I hope you guys see things from my eyes and don't be afraid to share you opinions and comments on my view on this subject. ^_^

Spring/Summer 2012 Makeup Trends

This year, I absolutely love most of the makeup trends. Usually I hate a majority of the trends I see, but this year most are just my fancy.

Since the pictures below are of runway models, they have a lot more makeup on than anyone would wear everyday, so make variations so you don't go out looking overdone.

Pumped Up Pretty

Shiseido showmen made a doll-like, youthful look with lolita lashes, pink lips, coral cream blush, and hyper real skin; along with fake freckles for an innocent appearance.

Blue Peter Beauty

Mac makeup artists liked arts and crafts this season. They used gold leaf, clear glue, and black bandage tape to create embellished and edgy eye makeup. Their vision for this look was a 60's housewife that was teleported into the 90's.

Groupie Glamour

Maybelline and Mac makeup artist created a chic, morning-after-the-night -before, look. Thickly black lined eyes were a staple and keeping the eyes horizontal rather than slanted was also used a lot.

Ocean Colour Scene

Etro makeup artists used cool coloured eye shadows, and light, washed over hues to create a soft, Monet-like look. Mac eyeshadow were used in shades of azure, aqua, and pearl, while the face and lips were kept neutral.

I always though Megan was pretty BA. She's not girly, but I don't know, like dark and mysterious looking.

She didn't make the top ten, so old Maxim photo (Maxim only does articles on top ten and she was eleven). She made Maxim again! Yay! I've always loved Rosie's look, it's classy, girly, and really radiant. But, hey, have you noticed the celebrities are really dressing down that's... AWESOME!

I got a sunburn!

Yeah, it hurts and i'm peeling! Wtf?! I put spf 50 sunscreen on. Huh, maybe it washed off in the pool. Oh yeah, and exfoliating and aloe does not work on sunburns unless you apply it constantly throughout the day, just sayin'. So, now I'm red and my makeup looks all peely and scaly, it's so gross.

But...

I CURED IT!

How???

NOT with aloe, you bum! I have come to the conclusion that aloe does not work for peeling sunburns. uh-huh, yep...

So... I took some honey and put it all over my face, left it on for 10 minutes and then washed it off with cold water. I did this about twice a day for about two days and it soothed the burn and peeled away a lot of the dead skin.

But, that wasn't enough, so throughout the day, I applied oatmeal cloth to my face. Yep, oatmeal cloth. I just took about 1 cup of oatmeal, wrapped it up in a washcloth, let it soak in a bowl of water for 15 minutes and then dabbed it on my face.

This still wasn't enough T_T and I was NOT going to let this sunburn get away with ruining my makeup routine, no no no NO! So I took milk and soaked a washcloth in it and the dabbed the milk-soaked washcloth on my face. I had heard that the enzymes in the milk naturally peel away dead skin, and it was not lying. Most of the peeling skin had gone away like magic, ya!

The last thing I did was make a moisturising sugar scrub. I just took a little sugar and some olive oil, mixed, and massaged it on my face and rinsed with cold water. Now my face feels a little raw, but I rather have a raw, red face than a peeling lizard face!

The thing I did the most is after each treatment and throughout the day I took a gel ice pack and gave myself a cold compress. It draws heat out of the burn making it go away faster. Plus, it feels nice and cold.

Past Life

I've always been superstitious and I believe in all that spiritual stuff, but lately I've been getting these feelings like constant deja vu. I know this must sound insane, but have you ever had that feeling like you've been in a similar situation or you've met someone before? Most people just forget it and don't really think much of it, I think, so you may not know what the heck I'm talking about. On the other hand, I think way too much about those experiences.

So I've come to a conclusion that we've all had another life in the past and those feelings we get now are just memories from the past that fabricate in our minds when something similar to something that happened in a past life happens. I think this is the reason why we always get deja vu. It could be some other reason, but why would we get the feeling that something has happened before? There really is no answer, this is just philosophy, man. We'll never know @_@

It's just so cool to think about, am I right? No, just think about it and you'll get it..

The reason I wanted to bring this up is because there is this person (no names :P ) that I don't know well at all, barely ever talked to them, they're just an acquaintance. Well, from the first day I saw them for the first time, I immediately felt connected to this person. Like we have a strong bond even though we don't. I feel like we've known each other for so long, but we don't even talk to each other. These connections are so strong and freak me out so much that I try to avoid this person, but I always seem to find myself in their presence and making out-of-the-blue eye contact with them. What the what? Is this like a haunting or something? This is so scary, please tell me I'm not alone, AH!

Nishino Kana is different from my other gyaru inspirations because she is a J-pop singer!I love Nishino Kana mostly because she's cute! But, I also love her because even though she's not really gyaru looking to most people, she still has a natural, sweet gyaru look to me. Enjoy this pic spam.

Yes, the title is random (not really)

This is just a little update to say well, that I feel like I need to find way more things to blog about. I haven't been blogging in a while, right? Well, mostly because I'm writing a post for BeachBody so that will be up in a little while. Well, anyways I've been so busy with school and everything, so I haven't really though about my blog, but not to worry, I'll be up and blogging soon. I always have these little times when I just can't blog, but they always past and I EXPLODE with ideas on what to blog about. Just wait.

Venus Angelic & Xiaorishu

Do you know VenusAngelic? If you don't she's a Youtube's "living doll." She makes makeup and beauty tutorial videos on Youtube. She's especially famous for her baby-like voice and living doll look.

She seems like a very nice and sweet girl. That's what many fans and viewers of her videos thought including Youtuber, Xiaorishu. Xiaorishu makes parody videos and vlogs and she's super funny.

If you've ever watched a VenusAngelic video you probably know about the thousands of hate comments. Well, Xiaorishu made a video supporting Venus and sticking up for her! Venus tweeted her and commented on her video saying 'thank you'. And then Xiaorishu got an email from Youtube forcing her to take down the video. The person who reported the video was no one but Venus herself. Xiaorishu let it go like an awesome person she is and moved on. But after going out with her friend, Xiao decided to watch more of her videos and leave a nice comment and she found out she was BLOCKED! Xiao let it go again and then more and more of her friends were getting blocked from Venus' videos after leaving nice comments. Pretty soon A LOT of people were blocked.

Xiao even found out that Venus' mother was behind Twitter and Youtube accounts that were harassing her and her friends. WTF?! There's even proof that Venus' mother has harassed people and even threatened to sue people for copying her daughter and using her content and making mean articles.

The hate went back and forth on Facebook and Twitter between Xiao, Xiao's fans and friends, Venus, Venus' fans, and multiple anonymous accounts. LIES spilt right out of Venus' mouth trying to make Xiao look bad. Why would she do that? What is the point of all this hate from Venus and her mum?

This just goes to show you that with a strive for fame comes a sense of mental instability? Maybe just a stronger hunger for fame. The look of a nice video looked to Venus as if Xiao was trying to get Venus' fans and Venus striked back at the fear of losing fame. I don't think this is the case, but it could be right? Who knows? This whole thing is freaking crazy!

I recommend you read them and watch the video if you want to know more about it. I wasn't going to write about this until I knew the real story, so there you have it.

Cosmetically Crooked Teeth

I heard of this "kawaii" trend in Japan called Yaeba which basically means crooked teeth. In Japan crooked teeth are considered cute. It can be, trust me. Take a look...

Cute, kawaii, adorable, yes?

I have to say having crooked teeth is cute, yes, but when people with Yaeba are like "crooked teeth are the new straight teeth" people without Yaeba go "ME WANT!"So, they go to their cosmetic dental surgeon and ask for crooked teeth.

You've probably heard of people getting their teeth straightened with veneers that make you look like a horse (I'm just kidding, but veneers make you look like a horse sometimes). Have you heard of people getting their teeth crookened (that's not a work is it?).

Well, I don't think it's a bad thing, I just think it's bizarre. I don't think getting your teeth straightened is a bad thing, so getting your teeth made to look crooked is like the same thing right? Well, I guess it was a pretty big trend in Japan. So I'll show you some pictures of the surgeries.

You see? They insert like little fangs to make your teeth look uneven and crooked.

I'm sorry, but when I see these Yaeba teeth, all I think of is my poodle's underbite that sticks out of his lips like Yaeba teeth. I also think of a vampire O.o

People Like Stupid Stuff

Just a little note before we start: This goes out to everyone, including me. I'm no hypocrite, I'll admit to the stupid things I like.

I've noticed, while sifting through stats on my blog today, that the stupidest, most meaningless posts on my blog have the most views while the posts that I put a lot into and take a whole lot of time to write have the least views. Why is this?

Because people like stupid things!

This is mostly on the internet. People look up things on Google search that are pretty pointless and I've done it before, too. Like the search keywords on my blog, they are simply laughable. But I'm not complaining, they are pretty creative and that's probably the only way anyone will find my tiny blog. Some funny ones I've had on my blog are:

asian wannabe white

anime that came to life

fat person cosplay

Some of these are simply unexplainable to why the heck they found my blog this way! How does my blog have anything to do with this? Am I the only one with this problem?

Now how about why people look up these things? You know why? It's because of our nature. People are naturally curious about other people. We want to know about the behaviours of other people. It's just natural. Nobody can help it. And you're not going to tell me that you've never searched or looked at something weird or stupid on the internet before. If you do, you're lying. The internet is the only place people can go to find out about people without that person knowing who you are. Most likely you don't know the people that you're searching and looking at on the internet, right?

The internet is basically made for that anyways! I mean why are the weird and stupid things that you're being weird by searching even there in the first place? Because people are curious about other people. If it's out there, people, go ahead and look at it. It's not you're fault they put their weird and stupid stuff on the internet for weird people to see.

So, I know if you are reading this post right now, you've probably entered some weird or stupid search keywords... just kidding! I think this post is pretty safe. I mean what are they going to enter to find it?

Sorry to interrupt, but I gotta say I'm loving the look of the 2012 gyaru makeup, it's natural but stunning, like makeup should be. I think I just might try this out. I wasn't that into the loads of makeup trend that was going on before. Now it's much more cleaner and fresher looking and much more natural.
