Information Update - Nintendo 3DS

1.- Kingdom Hearts series director, Tetsuya Nomura, has revealed in the latest edition of Nintendo Power that Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance will have a “surprise” at the end of the game. Nomura urges Nintendo 3DS gamers to refrain from turning off their consoles during the ending credits, otherwise they will miss the aforementioned surprise.

“For starters, there’s going to be some sort of a “surprise” during the end credits of the game. Nomura shares: “This is the first time we’re doing this, but there’s a surprise during the end credits. So even when the credits start to roll, don’t put down your N3DS, and don’t let your guard down!”

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the world-famous creator behind the Final Fantasy series and The Last Story, has joined forces with Nintendo to create a special directors cut trailer for the fantastic The Last Story. This special trailer celebrates the launch of The Last Story, which is available to purchase across Europe today.

Mesut from Nintendomination has uploaded the first two hours of the majestic The Last Story for Wii. The footage itself is extremely high quality, so if you can’t wait to purchase the game then feel free to waste away two hours watching the spectacular action unfold. The Last Story is available to purchase today is Europe, and is coming to North America sometime later this year.

2.- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has taken to Twitter to address the previous rumour that Nintendo is working with third-party developers to encourage them to revive old franchises for the Nintendo 3DS. Iwata said that the report from respected Japanese paper The Nikkei that was published earlier this week was just gossip, and there was no truth to the rumour.

Club Nintendo is now offering Mario and Luigi pouches for those of you that want somewhere special to keep your Nintendo 3DS. The Mario pouch was available a while ago on Club Nintendo, but they’ve now decided to add a Luigi pouch for good measure. The Mario and Luigi pouches are available from Club Nintendo for 250 points each.

Famed Wedbush Morgan video gaming analyst Michael Pachter is under the impressionthat Wii owners have now moved onto Facebook games, and no longer have an interest in the console. Pachter believes that the bubble surrounding the Wii has finally burst, and Social games, like the ones found on Facebook, are thriving.

“Nintendo Wii fans are now playing Farmville. The Wii was a bubble. The Wii bubble has burst. As for the social bubble, I don’t think it’s a bubble. I play Facebook games with my mother. This is not a bubble.”

Nintendo of Japan has revealed the final box art for the forthcoming Fire Emblem Awakening. You’ll notice the Nintendo Network logo on the side of the box, which indicates that the game will be getting the DLC that Nintendo promised. Fire Emblem Awakening is due for release April 19th in Japan, and is due later this year in Europe.

3.- Nintendo of America has announced that Nate Stehley of Clarksville Tennessee has won alife-sized Mario Kart. Stehley won the special edition vehicle, developed by West Coast Customs, through the GameStop PowerUp Rewards program. The special kart comes complete with a decorative glider wing, as represented in the game.

Games developer Nnooo has revealed via a press release that their award-winning game escapeVektor is coming to the Nintendo 3DS. escapeVektor is a retro styled arcade game in which the player controls Vektor, an entity trapped inside the console’s CPU. The new version of the game will have new enemies and obstacles, plenty of extra levels and online leaderboards. An early build of the Nintendo 3DS version of the game will be showcased at GDC and the game is expected to be released late 2012.

4.- The latest issue of Nintendo Power has an interview with Tetsuya Nomura. In the interview they talk about various aspects of Kingdom Hearts 3D including the story, the gameplay, and even a special surprise during the end credits of the game. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy was said to be selling well in Japan, and now the clarification that the game sold about 69,000 copies in its first week, but due to supply constrains by Square Enix, that amounts to 90% of its initial shipment. It might not be that bad for a spin-off game, although the whole idea that was “selling out” was misleading.

Nintendo has announced that Kid Icarus Uprising will launch in Australia and New Zealand on March 29th. This puts it just a few days after the release in Europe and North America. As in other regions, the game will come bundled with a stand for your 3DS and six augmented reality cards.

1.- Epic Games has announced that it will be showcasing an array of stunning Unreal Engine demos at this years Games Developer Conference next month. Epic Games were the studio that developed the Japanese Garden Wii U demo which Nintendo used to show off the graphical capabilities of the Wii U at E3 last year.

Nintendo 3DS UK has uploaded a new promotional trailer for the recently releasedResident Evil: Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS. The video features a Jill Valentine look-alike cautiously roaming around a dark and dingy ships hull, which is bound to please some of you. Resident Evil Revelations is available to purchase now throughout the world.

I reported earlier in the week that GAME was cancelling pre-orders for the limited edition version of The Last Story, but now it turns out the troubled retailer is cancelling all pre-orders of the game. Consumers who have pre-ordered the game, which is due out tomorrow, have been notified that their pre-orders have been cancelled.

2.- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that Kid Icarus: Uprising’s battle mode provokes fond memories of Smash Bros Brawl in terms of richness, volume and all-out chaos. Kid Icarus: Uprising is due for release March 23rd in North America and Europe.

”I was able to play the final version before this interview, and its richness, and an unparalleled sense of volume really came across, just like when I played Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the first time.

“When I saw the battle mode, one of the things I thought was that this was how the Super Smash Bros. games would look like in 3D. In many ways, like the fast pace, for example.”

Monolith Soft, the developer behind the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles, is currentlyrecruiting staff for a brand new Nintendo 3DS game. The developer is looking for effect designers, motion designers and 3DCG designers. We already know that Monolith Soft is hard at work developing a game for Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U console.

Nintendo of America has uploaded some spectacular footage of the fast and frantic Kid Icarus: Uprising multiplayer mode for Nintendo 3DS. Kid Icarus: Uprising is due for release in both North America and Europe on March 23rd. The multiplayer functionality for Kid Icarus: Uprising was demonstrated earlier at today’s Nintendo Direct conference.

3.- According to Famitsu, when you change between Sora and Riku in Kingdom Hearts 3D is determined through the “Drop Gauge”. The “Drop Gauge” depletes over time, but it can also be drained manually. Once the “Drop Gauge” is empty, you’ll switch to the opposite character. You are also able to obtain temporary increases in powers for the incoming character, new commands, and items during the switch.

Famitsu also went into detail on the the Dream Eater creation process. Dream Eaters that are created through the recipe process (talked about here) can be made stronger using special items and you’ll even be able to give them names. The new “Ability Link System” will also allow you to use Link Points to unlock new abilities for your Dream Eater and for yourself. There are new screenshots after the break.

1.- Nintendo has announced that the game created by the Project Zero series development team Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir is coming to Europe. Spirit: Camera is a truly unique horror experience that utilises all of the features of the Nintendo 3DS system to truly bring the frights to life.

Use the accompanying “purple diary” – a 16-page AR Book included with the game – to view ghostly images and interact with the world like never before. European Horror fans will also be interested to know that Project Zero 2: Wii Edition will be coming to Europe.

The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has sent out a SpotPass notification on the Nintendo 3DS telling people that he hopes they’re looking forward to the next Zelda game which is scheduled to come out on the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo has yet to release any information regarding the next Zelda game, but hopefully we will hear something at GDC.

Nintendo of America has uploaded some gameplay footage of Mario Tennis Open for the Nintendo 3DS. The game was shown off at today’s Nintendo Direct conference and was given an official title. Mario Tennis Open is due for release in Europe on May 25th and in North America on May 20th.

2.- Nintendo UK and Europe have announced that they’re publishing the sequel to the well received Level 5 football RPG Inazuma Eleven. Inazuma Eleven 2 will be available across Europe exclusively for the Nintendo DS family of consoles and Nintendo 3DS from the 16th March 2012. You’ll be able to purchase two version of the game, either Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard. Here’s some information about the game:

Picking up the story of teenage goalkeeper Mark Evans and his football team one week after their triumph in the Football Frontier tournament, the Raimon Eleven begin a training session when their school is attacked by invaders from outer space from the mysterious Alius Academy. They plan to use a destructive brand of football to totally destroy the world – unless the Raimon Eleven can defeat them in a football match! Only by travelling across the whole of Japan and recruiting the country’s best football players can Mark and the Raimon Eleven find a way to stop Alius Academy and save the world!
Both versions of the game, Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard, offer the same overarching storyline with some unique differences. Each version features over 150 unique characters, unique teams to face off against, as well as unique abilities and special moves, but in order to meet other version characters you will have to trade and make important decisions on who to keep hold of and who to let go.

Nintendo has revealed new details on the different multiplayer modes in Kid Icarus: Uprising which will launch exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system on March 23rd. Here’s some of the modes and features in the multiplayer portion of Kid Icarus: Uprising:

Light vs. Dark: Team up with other players in Light vs. Dark multiplayer mode, in which two teams of three are pitted against one another. The ultimate goal is to empty the opposing team’s health meter, which transforms the last defeated team member into an angel. The team who defeats the opposing team’s angel wins. This unique multiplayer mode tests players’ ability to work as a team while keeping the match exciting as the focus constantly shifts from dealing out damage to protecting the team angel.
Free-for-All: In this mode, up to six players (including CPU players) combat each other in a winner-takes-all match. Winners are determined by high score, heavily influenced by both the number of kills and the number of deaths.
Match Set-up: Both Light vs. Dark and Free-for-All multiplayer modes are playable through local wireless play or online for players with broadband Internet access. CPU players will fill out the roster if there are fewer than six players in a match. Duration of the match, CPU difficulty, weapons and team handicaps are all customizable prior to beginning a multiplayer battle.
Weapons and Weapon Fusion: The wide variety of weapons a player has collected in single-player mode can be used during multiplayer matches. Players can also earn additional weapons as rewards in multiplayer play. Players can choose set combinations of weapons and powers before entering into a match. This provides further incentive for players to continue collecting different and more powerful weapons as they play through the single-player campaign. Players can also fuse weapons together at the Arms Altar. Fusing two weapons will result in a single, more powerful weapon that retains some of the key benefits of each, giving players the ability to customize weapons to match their play style. Fused weapons can also be used in multiplayer matches.
StreetPass: Through the StreetPass functionality of the Nintendo 3DS hardware, players have the ability to share one of their weapons with other Kid Icarus: Uprising owners. The selected weapon is turned into a Weapon Gem. Shared Weapon Gems can be converted into real weapons by paying Hearts. Players can also fuse Weapon Gems together by paying Hearts to create a more powerful Weapon.

3.- Nintendo Europe has announced that it will be releasing a special limited edition version ofPandora’s Tower when the game launches on the 13th April. The limited edition offers fans a premium steel book casing and a beautiful 32 page art book, showcasing the best imagery of the game.

Hot off the heels of The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower is the latest in a line of story driven, action RPGs to launch for Wii and features real-time combat, motion controls, a unique relationship mechanic and multiple possible endings depending on your style of play.

Nintendo has announced that the long-awaited The Last Story is officially coming to North America. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime wouldn’t announce a release date, but he did say that XSeed will be localizing the title rather than Nintendo.

Nintendo Europe has announced that Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure will launch exclusively on Nintendo 3DS across Europe on 5th April 2012. Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout European territories, with SEGA remaining as publisher. Here’s a few details about the game:

Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure combines a thrilling twist-filled adventure, with rhythm-based challenges utilising the unique functions of the Nintendo 3DS to the fullest. The action takes place in a beautifully rendered anime-styled Paris, where you play the sharp-suited Raphael, whose alter ego is Phantom R, an honourable thief who always returns his loot a few days after stealing it. Together with your canine companion Fondue, you aim to solve the mystery of your father’s disappearance once and for all, by embarking on your most daring robbery yet while staying one step ahead of the Parisian police!
You’ll race around Paris cracking puzzles, finding clues and outwitting foes who are out to stop you from pilfering some of the world’s most expensive works of art. You will also get the chance to visit some of Paris’s most famous landmarks on your journey. Raphael never misses an opportunity to boogie while solving a mystery and there are over fifty rhythm-based challenges on offer to test your Touch Screen tapping, stylus swiping, button bashing and gyro gyrating skills.

Nintendo Europe has confirmed that Dillon’s Rolling Western for the Nintendo 3DS eShop is available to download now. Dillon’s Rolling Western was previously scheduled to come out last week in Europe. The game will set you back £9.00.

4.- We already heard that the Japanese will be getting Gear Gear titles on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console and now Nintendo Europe has announced that they’re coming to Europe in March. Nintendo wouldn’t confirm which titles we will bet getting, but I’m guessing we will get the following:

Nintendo has confirmed that the highly anticipated Fire Emblem and Mario Tennis Openwill be coming to Europe this year. Nintendo declined to give an actual date as to when we can expect these games, but they did confirm that the games will be coming this year. Fire Emblem 3DS will be released April 19th in Japan and Mario Open Tennis is set to be released May 24th.

Update: Mario Tennis is coming May 25th in Europe.

Nintendo has announced that Sega, Capcom and Namco will be teaming up together to create a brand new mystery project for the Nintendo 3DS. Obviously details are scarce regarding what these huge development studios and publishers are actually up to, but it definitely sounds like something to get excited about.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed that Dr Kawashima has once again partnered with Nintendo to create a brand new Brain Training style game for the Nintendo 3DS. Iwata wouldn’t give away much information about the title other than it’s currently referred to as Devil Training. Sounds interesting….

Next months issue of Nintendo Power will reportedly contain information about a yet to be announced game. There’s no hints regarding what the title will actually be, but my guess would be Epic Mickey 2, which we already know is secretly in development at Disney. 5.- Nintendo has announced that Mario Tennis Open for the Nintendo 3DS will be coming to Japan on May 24th. The game allows you to use the Nintendo 3DS touchscreen for a variety of moves including lobs, top spins etc. Mario Tennis Open will also feature online multiplayer, which will be a more than welcome addition to the franchise. We should hear about a Western release date later today.

The latest issue of Famitsu has confirmed that Game Gear games will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console on March 14th. The publication has revealed that The GG Shinobi, Sonic & Tales 2, Dragon Crystal Shirani’s Maze will all be available at launch.

Nintendo of America has announced some additional Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses Tour Dates. The spectacular concert features live orchestral performances of theme music from Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise. The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed that dungeon RPG series Etrian Odyssey is coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Etrian Odyssey IV game’s staff includes Daisuke Kaneda as director, Nizou Yamamoto as background artist, Shin Nagasawa on monster design, Yuji Himukai as character designer and Yuzo Koshiro on sound. Etrian Odyssey IV will be released on July 5th and will be priced at ¥6,279.

Square Enix has revealed that Kingdom Hearts 3D will feature a recap of past Kingdom Hearts games for newcomers of the series. There’s an option in the game called ‘Recollections’ which allows players to catch up with what happened in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Kingdom Hearts, 358/2 Days and the rest of the Kingdom Hearts games. Kingdom Hearts 3D is out next month in Japan, and is due sometime later this year in the West.

1.- The latest issue of Nintendo Power confirms that Aksys will be publishing the sequel to 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors on the Nintendo 3DS. Apparently the title for the game in North America has yet to be confirmed by the publisher. The sequel to 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors will be released in North America later this year.

Adweek has published an article that states that Nintendo is courting numerous large media firms to provide content distribution partnerships for Wii U. Nintendo is apparently trying to take a leaf out of Microsoft’s book and provide gamers with a rich multimedia experience using Wii U.

According to the sites sources Nintendo executives arranged meetings with “a select number of top content companies” during this years CES. The companies included Cable networks and Web video producers. One source even said that Nintendo had begun talks with Comcast to become a cable TV distribution. Another source did conclude that “this is very preliminary, it could go nowhere.”

2.- Apple has finally removed the Pokemon Pocket Edition app from the App Store. There was plenty of controversy over the app, which despite being advertised as a game, was nothing more than a glorified picture gallery. Plenty of people downloaded the application and then complained that the application either crashed, or it wasn’t what they thought it was. The Pokemon Company has already stated that they will take action against individuals who use the Pokemon name without authorisation.

Popular UK boy band One Direction have shared their favourite Pokemon with the Official Nintendo Magazine. Believe it or not the band are apparently long-term Pokemon fans and their favourite Pokemon characters are from the first generation of Pokemon. 3.- The Pokemon Company has announced that it will take action against companies and individuals who use the Pokemon name without permission from the company.

I reported yesterday that a scammer has managed to get Pokémon Pocket Edition on the App Store. The game has already hit the iTunes top ten but the consumers who are purchasing the game are unaware that the game doesn’t actually feature any content, instead it’s just a simple Pokemon gallery. Here’s what the Pokemon Company has to say on the matter:

“We continue to combat the unauthorised release of games, applications and merchandise that trick our fans into purchasing something that does not meet our quality standards.”
“Fans who encounter questionable products should report to us immediately so we can keep other fans from falling victim to these scams.”

Masahiro Sakurai, the creative force behind both the Kirby and the Super Smash Bros. series has stated that he’s currently starting work on the next Smash Bros game for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Now that he’s finished work on Kid Icarus: Uprising on Nintendo 3DS he’s turned his attention to researching how best to go about developing the next Super Smash Bros game. Sakurai is currently taking notes from the Smash Bros Dojo website and will gather developers to discuss the next game.

Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Japan has announced that its next Nintendo Direct conference will be streamed on the internet tomorrow. The Japanese Nintendo Direct Conference will be streamed here at 3am PST and 11am GMT. The Nintendo of America conference hosted by Reggie Fils-Aime will be streamed here at 6am PST and 2pm GMT. The conference will feature footage from Wii and 3DS rather than Wii U. What would you like to see?

4.- A poster over at Neogaf has discovered that Nintendo is currently distributing an alternativebox-art for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword in Europe.

This alternate box art was previously only available in the East, but it seems to have made its way to the West. I’m sure the collectors amongst you will be hunting feverishly for this one.

With Kid Icarus: Uprising‘s launch on the horizon, Masahiro Sakurai has begun working on the new Smash Bros. game for the 3DS and the Wii U. Sakurai tweeted recently that he has been looking through the official website for Smash Bros. Brawl as part of his research for the new game. Though Sakurai previously stated that the game may take a while, it’s good to know that they have at least begun working on it.

Kingdom Hearts 3D features a “Memoir” menu, which Square Enix has revealed to include:

A tutorial for learning the game’s moves.
General help with the game.
Recollections, which allows you to look back at things that have happened during the game.
Chronicle, to read a detailed history of all the previous games in the series.

It was also announced that there will be a pre-launch event for the game on the 3rd of March, so we should see more of the game then. But for now you can check after the break for screenshots showing of the Memoir menu.

1.- Respected Japanese newspaper the Nikkei is stating that Nintendo is planning to revive fan favourites from other developers on the Nintendo 3DS.

The first game to do this will be the classic Dreamcast virtual pet sim Seaman. Which classic franchise would you like to see Nintendo revive on the Nintendo 3DS?

Square Enix has posted the first look at all the goodies Japanese Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to get if they purchase the Kingdom Hearts 3D 10th Anniversary Box set. The special collectors edition box set which retails for ¥15,000 includes Kingdom He arts: Dream Drop Distance, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, along with a protective cover and twelve post cards.

Game Freak director Junichi Masuda has told Pokemon fans to watch the next Pokemon Smash for possible information on the sequel to Pokemon Black & White. One Pokemon fan asked him, “Please tell us some information about Black and White’s sequel,” to which he replied, “I can’t answer that yet. Well, I can say to watch the next Pokemon Smash.”

2.- Apple has approved a Pokemon game which doesn’t actually include any content on the App Store. The ‘game’ which is titled Pokémon Pocket Edition and retails for $5 hasn’t actually got any gameplay, and is just a gallery of Pokémon photos from the games.

Numerous consumers have purchased the title only to find out that there’s no gameplay and are greeted more often than not with the application crashing The developer behind the application has written the following misleading information about Pokémon Pocket Edition::

“Marking the Pokémon series’ glorious debut on the App Store, Pokémon lets you verse and play as everyone’s favorite Pokémon, Pikachu, around awesome lands.”
“Using the stylus to control your favourite Pokémon, zip across land and sea—even through the air—on a mad dash for the finish line”.

I’ve just been informed via Twitter that UK video game retailer GAME are currently switching The Last Story limited edition copies to the standard edition, and they aren’t actually notifying people that they’re doing it. Twitter user James Duckett only found out that they had changed the pre-order when he logged into his account and found that the two limited edition copies he ordered had been downgraded to standard edition. GAME has pulled the limited edition version of The Last Story from their website.

3.- Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo 3DS is the fastest selling console ever in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS sold five million units in just fifty-two weeks according to Nintendo. Sales for the Nintendo 3DS were rather lacklustre initially, but as soon Nintendo slashed the recommended retail price and released games such as Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 sales for the system soared.

Nintendo Europe has announced via a press release that they’re bringing out a demo for Nintendogs + Cats on the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendogs + Cats was a launch game for the Nintendo 3DS, so it would appear that Nintendo are still keen to push the title. Nintendogs + Cats demo will be available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop on Thursday and is a free download.

There's a chance Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge may no longer be a launch title for the Wii U, but it's still coming to the platform, and you can check after the break for five minutes of footage.

4.- V-Jump magazine has revealed that the “Radiant Garden” world in Kingdom Hearts 3D will be making an appearance in the game. Axel, Zexion, and Lexaeus will all be appearing on Radiant Garden as Lea, Ienzo, and Aeleus. The world based on Tron: Legacy will be called “The Grid” and will feature characters such as Sam Flynn, Kevin Flynn, and Quorra.

You will also be be able to create Dream Eaters by following certain recipes in the game and unlock new Dream Eaters by using special AR cards, one of which will be included in a Kingdom Hearts 3D book set to release in Japan. There are scans after the break.

Nintendo certainly did well as the company managed to scoop 81% of gross revenue for downloadable titles in 2011. Here’s the top ten in its entirety:

2.- Edge magazine, which is renowned for being the most stringent of all video gaming magazines, has stated in its review that Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D looks better than Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater HD on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. High praise indeed for a game that had initially received fairly disappointing previews from several publications.

“Packed with detail, both in terms of it’s environments and mechanics, this is a game that pays back investment in spades. MGS3 is a modern classic – the tightest, smartest and most emotional journey in the series – and even the HD update doesn’t look as good as this portable treatment.”

Team Ninja has uploaded five minutes of ultra-violent footage from the forthcoming Ninja Gaiden 3 onto Youtube. Ninja Gaiden 3 is already confirmed as a launch title for Wii U so expect to see it sometime later this year. I presume the footage shown in the video is from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, but the Wii U version shouldn’t be too different.

Nintendo of Europe has unleashed its first television commercial for The Last Story. The advertisement is short at only twenty-two seconds, but it features plenty of action packed scenes. The Last Story is due out in Europe this Friday and can be pre-ordered here.

We reported that the release date for Dillon’s Rolling Western had supposedly been revealed in the latest issue of MCV magazine. Today we have confirmation that the game, now called Rolling Western, will be launching next week on Thursday in Europe. Unfortunately, there is still no price for the game.

According to retailers, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D will launch on May 22nd. Atari did announce that the game is on hold, so this may be a placeholder date. We’ll have to wait and see. Even so, for the time being, there are new screenshots and the box art after the break.

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Kid Icarus: Uprising that centers around the three Sacred Treasures.

3.- In regards to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D being delayed, n-Space shared the following statement on their Facebook page:
Apparently Atari has delayed the release of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D. Unfortunately, we first learned of this from the same reports as the rest of you. The game is complete and approved by Nintendo of America as of Jan 31 and we’re waiting for news of its approval in Europe. I don’t know any more about Atari’s reasons. Publishers face many, many considerations when releasing a game – timing, marketing support, distribution, etc. Making a good game is only a small part of the bigger battle of releasing a successful product.

That’s a bit lousy of Atari to not inform the developers that their game was delayed. But it’s nice to known the game is done. And maybe, based on what we’ve heard, it will be released on May 22nd.

Metal Gears Solid: Snake Eater 3D didn’t impress me a whole lot when I played it at E3. Even so, the reviews from EDGE and Nintendo Power are very positive, perhaps making it more worthy of attention that I thought.

EDGE rated the game with a 8/10 and said the following:

Packed with detail, both in terms of it’s environments and mechanics, this is a game that pays back investment in spades. MGS3 is a moden classic – the tighest, smartest and most emotional journey in the series – and even the HD update doesn’t look as good as this portable treatment.

Nintendo Power rated the game with a 9/10 and said the following:

A phenomenal game. Almost nothing was sacrificed in bringing the title to the Nintendo 3DS; from the opening scene to the powerful ending, every character model and every bit of excellent voice acting is intact, and the production values are sky-high.

Information leaked during this years Toy Fair points towards a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game from Activision. The previous rumour stated that Batman Arkham City developer Rocksteady were behind the video game reboot, but it turns out it will be Activision who have their hands on the lucrative franchise. The publisher has yet to confirm the game, as well as the platforms it will be appearing on.

2.- Nintendo of America has uploaded some fast and frantic new footage of the long-awaitedKid Icarus: Uprising on the Nintendo 3DS. The game is due to release on March 23rd in Europe and North America and comes with a free snazzy Nintendo 3DS stand.

Several key Western voice actors for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance are reporting that they’re finished doing their parts. Vincent Corazza, who reprises his role as Zexion in Kingdom Hearts 3D has already said he’s wrapped up recording and Jesse David Corti, the voice-actor who played Neku in The World Ends With You, has said he’s “about finished.” Kingdom Hearts 3D comes out March 29th in Japan, and later this year in the West.

1.- Japanese newspaper Sankei News has blamed the “curse of Mario” for Nintendo posting huge financial losses. The publication states that Nintendo’s mascot Mario has hindered the company from creating original IP’s and catering to today’s consumers tastes.

Nintendo UK has announced that it has partnered with the revered Aardman Animations, who’re the critically acclaimed creators behind Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit, to deliver brand new 3D SpotPass content for the Nintendo 3DS. Starting from March 7th Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to watch 15 exclusive 3D clips of Shaun The Sheep.

2.- Nintendo has uploaded a new North American trailer for the fantastic Xenoblade Chronicles. The game came out in April last year in Europe but it’s finally making its way to North America on April 6th.

Eurogamer has discovered that the popular UK video game retailer GAME won’t be stocking Tekken 3D Prime Edition. The source told the publication that Tekken was delayed because Nintendo had not sent the stock to GAME’s warehouse in time for launch. However, we already know that the retailer is currently suffering from financial troubles and wasn’t able to stock new titles a few weeks ago.

Scans which have surfaced from the latest Disney animated movie Wreck-It Ralph show that Bowser, Dr. Eggman and Zangief will make a special appearance in the film. The film is apparently about a video game villain who unleashes a powerful enemy from a first-person shooter. Who else would you like to see animated and featured in the film?

Online gaming publication Kotaku has uncovered a patent filing from Nintendo which shows that the company was originally flirting with the idea of a 3D HD touch screen for Wii U. Nintendo’s patent filing states that the Wii U controller “might” feature a 3D display and an HD display. We already know that we won’t see the final controller until E3, so Nintendo may have some surprises in store for us.

1.- The Pokemon Company has unleashed two new Japanese commercials for the highly anticipated Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition.

Nintendo has yet to confirm whether or not there will be a Western release for the game, but we may hear something at E3. Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition comes out in Japan on March 17th.

Nintendo took the highest share of game sales revenue during January according to Enterbrain and Famitsu. For the month of January, which covers December 26 through January 29, Nintendo was the top publisher with the Kyoto based company accounting for 23.6% of video game revenue in Japan. Namco Bandai followed at 18%, with Capcom in third with 10.9%, Square Enix in fourth with 6.9% and Konami in fifth with 6.2%.

As Nintendo and Konami promised the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D demo is now available to download on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is due for release February 21st in North America and March 8th in Europe. What are your impressions of the demo?

2.- Nintendo of America has issued a press release stating that Hulu Plus is now available on Wii in the United States. Starting today, Wii owners can subscribe to Hulu Plus for $7.99 a month and instantly stream current-season hit TV shows such as Family Guy, Glee, New Girl, Vampire Diaries, The Office, The Biggest Loser and Modern Family, as well as full back seasons of hit shows like Community and Grey’s Anatomy. For the first month of launch, users who download Hulu Plus for Wii and do not already have an existing Hulu Plus account will get a two-week free trial.

Update: According to people who have downloaded the Hulu application it’s apparently a one week trial rather than the two-week trial that the press release stated. Thanks to everyone who let me know.

3.- Respected Japanese newspaper The Nikkei is claiming that major developers who were in the process of developing games for the PlayStation Vita are cancelling all projects and are concentrating their focus on the Nintendo 3DS. Sony has come out to say that this isn’t true, “and that many, many” third-party developers are working on titles for the system in the foreseeable future.

“Major Japanese companies are canceling all projects intended for Vita and are changing development to the 3DS.”

Capcom’s Senior Vice-President, Christian Svensson has taken to the Capcom forums to answer fans questions about Resident Evil 6 coming to Wii U. Svensson would neither admit or deny that the game will be coming to Wii U, but expect to hear much more about Resident Evil 6 at this years E3 event in June.

“We’ve made no announcements to this end at this point. I can’t say more than that right now.”

Famitsu has revealed that your custom-made character in Fire Emblem Kakusei has amnesia and when he awakens, Krom and his sister Rizu are next to you. After a demonstration of your commanding skills, you join Krom and his vigilante group. The game features three difficulty settings and you’ll be able to choose between Casual Style, which makes the game easier, and Classic Style, which features all the standard features of the game including the permanent death of your allies. 4.- Theatrhythm Final Fantasy has launched in Japan and it is apparently doing very well. GetNews in Japan isreporting that the game has sold out in stores soon after being put on the shelves. Though we won’t know the exact numbers until next week, this is still very good news. Hopefully the game’s success will mean it will be localized soon.

Square Enix has opened the official site for Dragon Quest Monsters Terry’s Wonderland 3D. The website has revealed that using Scout Attacks and special items will cause your Scout Gauge to increase. The higher your Scout Gauge is, the more likely it will be that a monster will join your party. You’ll be able to keep up to four monsters in your party at once depending on the size of the monsters you choose.

According to MCV magazine, Dillon’s Rolling Western is coming to the eShop in Europe next week. The game itself focuses an armadillo named Dillon who has to protect his town using attack towers and his own rolling attacks. No price was given in the article and there is no word on when the game will hit other regions, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

5.- Rising Star Games has announced that BIT.TRIP SAGA will arrive in Europe on the 16th of March. The compilation includes all six BIT.TRIP games, including BEAT, CORE, VOID, Runner, FATE and FLUX. You can see the box art above, along with new screenshots after the break.

1.- Despite initial lacklustre sales for the superb Rayman Origins on Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 3DS, Ubisoft has surprisingly announced that the game was profitable for the company.

Ubisoft wouldn’t provide exact sales figures for the game, but they did say that there’s a chance that the game will be a long-term seller for the company.

Ubisoft has confirmed today that Assassins Creed 3 will be released on October 30th. Ubisoft has already mentioned that Assassins Creed is currently in the works for Wii U and is scheduled to be released sometime this year. Hopefully we will also be seeing Wii U in October.

2.- Konami in the US has finally confirmed that North American gamers will get the chance to download the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D demo tomorrow on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Konami Europe has already confirmed that Europeans will be able to download the demo of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D tomorrow.

Capcom has yet to confirm whether Monster Hunter Tri G for the Nintendo 3DS will be coming to the West, but Nintendo magazine Nintendo Gamer has hinted that it will. An extract of their recent review for Monster Hunter Tri G suggests that Europe will get the game sometime later this year, though they don’t specify when.

Tri G is a great reworking of what was already a wonderful game, and probably has more content than any other 3DS title available – so it’s just a pity we won’t get to play it until later this year. What is this, the ’90s?
Tri G has everything that makes Monster Hunter great, but in the absence of online it’s probably better to wait until a bit later in the year for the European release.

3.- Yosuke Hayashi, the development head over at Team Ninja has expressed an interest in creating a Dead or Alive X Virtua Fighter crossover game. Team Ninja already has Ninja Gaiden 3 in development for Wii U, and has also mentioned that there’s a possibility we could get Dead or Alive on Nintendo’s forthcoming home console. Here’s what Hayashi had to say about creating a Dead or Alive X Virtua Fighter crossover.

“In terms of collaboration titles, there are staff on our team who just love fighting games and if there was any chance to do that we’d actively, possibly do that.

“The first 3D game I played was Virtua Fighter, that’s the IP I respect most. Virtua Fighter was the father of 3D gaming, so it’s very well respected.”

There will be eight songs available as paid downloadable content for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy when it’s released, and a total of fifty songs over the course of the game’s existence. The initial songs, include:

4.- According to a representative from Atari, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D, which was set for release in March, has been placed on hold. And, unfortunately, there was no reason given either, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.

The update for Super Mario Bros. from the Ambassador Program that adds a host of features to the game is now available in North America. Ubisoft has announced its 2012 games line-up and you’ll be super-excited to know that Assassins Creed 3 is scheduled for this year, and it’s coming to Wii U. There’s barely any details available about the game but expect to hear plenty about Assassins Creed 3 at this years E3 event which takes place in June.

2.- Square Enix has uploaded roughly ten minutes of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distancefootage for your viewing pleasure. The trailer shows off numerous locations including Le Cité des Cloches (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Prankster’s Paradise (Pinnochio), Country of Musketeers (The Three Musketeers), Symphony of Sorcery (Fantasia) and City of Luminations (Tron Legacy).

Nintendo Europe has issued a press release stating that Pandora’s Tower will be available across Europe exclusively on Wii from 13th April 2012. With real-time combat, motion controls, multiple endings and a unique relationship system, Pandora’s Tower offers a unique experience and an epic story that will keep you engrossed for hours.

In Pandora’s Tower you take on the role of Aeron, a soldier, as he battles to save his beloved friend Elena from a mysterious curse that is gradually transforming her into a demonic creature. Only by battling through the towers of a nearby fortress can Aeron save her from her gruesome fate. Using his sword and the magical Oraclos Chain, Aeron must defeat the creatures that lurk there and harvest their meat to feed to Elena. Only by eating all of the “master flesh”, harvested from the largest monsters within each tower, will Elena be fully cured of the curse and free from its monstrous grip.
By returning to Elena to feed her meat from the smaller monsters, you can slow down the transformation – but only temporarily. You will need to carefully judge when it is best to return to her, as not coming back in time could lead to Elena’s permanent transformation into a demonic beast.

3.- Nintendo has released another trailer for Mistwalkers upcoming JRPG The Last Story for Wii. The trailer shows off a wealth of in-game footage, including a variety of battles, plus it also showcases the British voice acting that can be found in the game. The Last Story is due out in Europe on February 24th.

It was revealed within an interview that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy has over seventy playable songs. But, Square Enix does plan to release over fifty songs as paid, downloadable content (a process which is alreadymoving forward). The game is confirmed to run at sixty frames per second (even with 3D enabled), although this is lessened to thirty frames per second during event music stages (“because of the need to output video”).

It’s also mentioned that, when playing mutliplayer mode, players are rewarded based on the performance of the best player in the group. This would allow someone who is not good at the game to receive better items by playing with someone who is good at the game.

Nintendo is planning on releasing a demo for Nintendogs + Cats on the eShop sometime soon. There is no set release date for the demo at this time, but it shouldn’t be too long until we hear something about it.

Tekken 3D Prime Edition has launched in North America, and Namco Bandai is celebrating with a new trailer for the game.

Mario Tennis for the 3DS was announced last year and according to this listing from GameFly, the final name of the game is Mario Tennis Open. If the listing is accurate, the game will arrive on the 20th of May. I suspect there’ll be an announcement closer to the anniversary of the 3DS if this is the case. It’d make sense for there to be a conference from Nintendo around that time.

Shigeru Miyamoto has told Entertainment Weekly that his favourite character in Mario Kartis the one and only Mario, purely because he believes he’s the most balanced character. Miyamoto was also asked by the publication who his least favourite character is in the Mario Kart series and was surprisingly quick to say Toad. Who is your favourite character in Mario Kart?

Legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has confessed that he’s really enjoying working on Pikmin 3 for Wii U. The game was originally developed for Wii, but Miyamoto says that having high definition graphics and a touch screen at his disposal is enabling him to create a game he’s truly happy with.

“Originally, I was making Pikmin 3 to be launched on the Wii platform. Because the Wii U is capable of HD quality pictures, and will be accompanied by the subscreen on your hand. I thought that I would be able to make a Pikmin that was closer to my ideal. I am now actually enjoying myself, working on the game.”

2.- Nintendo Europe has announced that it’s releasing a demo of the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater which will be available to download via the Nintendo eShop on Thursday. Nintendo Europe has also announced that one of the classic platformers from the Game Boy era, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, is out on Nintendo eShop this week.

We thought Theatrhythm Final Fantasy would have the first downloadable content for the 3DS. Nintendo has beaten Square Enix to the punch though, releasing new content for Tobidasu Print Club Kiradeco Revolution, a photo editing application in Japan. There are three “sets” available which provide stamps, backgrounds and frames to edit photos with. They cost ¥100 each and you can check out screenshots

Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs was announced for the 3DS a long, long time ago. The game is based on the animated television show from the 80′s by the same name, and pre-alpha footage has been released. This is the first we’ve seen anything from it and, while it’s most certainly rough, there seems to be a lot of promise.

1.- There was a rumor that SEGA All-Star Racing 2 was in development. This has been confirmed by Kotaku, but we don't know for what platforms. Still, the rumor stated it'd be on 3DS and Wii U, and I'm thinking that is a likely possibility.

Digital Extreme, the developer behind the multiplayer mode in Bioshock 2 and the Darkness 2, has announced that Star Trek is going to be released in the first quarter of next year and will be coming to all “all major home consoles and PC”. With the Wii U due out sometime after E3 this year, it sounds as though it’s more than possible that Star Trek fans will get to experience the game on Nintendo’s next home console.

Mobiclip, the firm that compresses FMV for platforms such as the Nintendo DS hasannounced today that it’s now a subsidiary of Nintendo. According to their press release they’re a Research and Development center specialized in the field of highly optimized software technologies. I’m sure you’ll recognise the name from countless DS games.

1.- Respected online gaming publication Edge has awarded Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D a more than respectable 8/10. The magazine is notorious for its strict scoring policy, so an 8 is a great score for the game which has had a mixed critical reception since its E3 début.

Xbox World magazine is reporting that Microsoft is hard at work developing a Wii U tablet controller for its next Xbox console.

The controller will be “an HD screen surrounded by the traditional 360 buttons and sticks” and the controller “could be a remote control when you’re watching TV, a browser when you’re on the internet, extra buttons and information when you’re playing a game or a portable display when you want to take your game with you.” Expect to see it at E3 in June along with Wii U.

Retro Studios the development studio behind the Metroid Prime series and Donkey Kong Country Returns is apparently recruiting new staff members to help with a game that reportedly features hand-painted visuals. While there’s no hint regarding what the team are currently working on, legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has said previously that he would like Retro Studios to try their hand at a new Zelda game.

2.- Epic Games vice president Mark Rein has told journalists that the company plans to show-off its next generation Unreal Engine 4 this year. The news has sparked further rumours that next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony will be revealed to the public, along with Nintendo’s forthcoming Wii U, at this years E3 event in June.

“People are going to be shocked later this year when they see Unreal Engine 4 and how much more profound an effect it will have.”

1.- You may remember a rumour which came from the Paul Gale Network that claimed Batman Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City developer were working on a mature Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for Wii U, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Well, it turns out that the rumour was completely untrue, as the developers have explained to Kotaku that they’re doing no such thing.

Mesut from Nintendomination has rather kindly uploaded the first sixty minutes of Rhythm Heaven Fever for your viewing pleasure. Rhythm Heaven Fever is developed by Nintendo and is the third game in the Rhythm Heaven series. The game is coming to North America on February 13th and is due to be released in Europe sometime in the Spring.

Epic Games vice president Mark Rein has told journalists and developers at this years DICE summit that the company’s next generation Unreal Engine is currently running on “systems we can’t name yet”. We already know that Epic were behind the Japanese garden Wii U demo, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the engine is up and running on Wii U.

2.- Unsurprisingly Activision has confirmed that there will be a brand new Call of Duty game released later this year, and have declared that the game is looking “fantastic”. Activision also mentioned that the next instalment of the immensely popular Call of Duty will feature ”meaningful innovations.” The publisher has yet to announce what platforms that game is appearing on, but hopefully we can expect Wii U, Wii and 3DS versions.

“This year we expect to further expand our presence with the launch of an all-new epic first-person shooter title under the Call of Duty brand. From what we’ve seen to date, the game already looks fantastic and will bring meaningful innovations to the franchise.”

Crash Time 3D has been announced for the 3DS. The Burnout-like racing game is set in “a completely open world environment” and has “fully interactive and destructible surroundings”. There is an ongoing storyline throughout the game and five different modes:

Campaign
Single Mission
Time Attack
Crash Haste – Stop the criminals.
Rush Hour – Race through the traffic.

According to the listing at Play.com, the game is set for release on the 6th of April.

3.- The latest issue of Jump magazine has revealed that the plot in Fire Emblem Kakusei revolves around two dragons: one to protect humanity and the other meant to destroy it. Both dragons awaken when two heroes (each with the mark of a dragon) meet. This sets the end of the world in motion.

The game has two main characters. One of them is the Krom. He is the Prince of the Kingdom of Iris. The other main character is of your own creation, with choices in regards to gender, their face etc.

There’s also mention of the Free Maps feature. This lets you roam the map freely to do such things as battle or buy goods. One new feature allows you to enter into battle with a ally which not only gives you the added benefit of having his or her attack your disposal, but will also net you increased abilities. 1.- Tekken series producer, Katsuhiro Harada has revealed via the latest Iwata Asks segment that Tekken 3D: Prime Edition won’t feature 3D in wireless multiplayer matches in an effort to retain a steady 60 frames per second.

“In Tekken 3D: Prime Edition, the game supports 60 frames per second during wireless play, but stereoscopic 3D display is not supported.”

Two Tribes, the development team behind WiiWare title Toki Tori, have mentioned in ablog post that they’re looking to bring the series to the Wii U. Toki Tori 2 won’t be a full priced retail game but will instead feature on the Wii U eShop.The development team also mentioned that they would like to incorporate a level editor in Toki Tori 2.

“What could be very interesting, and what’s been requested countless times from the fans, is if we could incorporate a level editor utilizing the Wii U controller. This could mean that the game runs on the TV while you make adjustments to the level on the touchscreen in real time. We think that would work really well!”

2.- Square Enix has revealed the official box-art for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance.

Square Enix has yet to announce a Western release date for the game, but says it’s coming this year. Kingdom Hearts 3D is released in Japan March 29th.

BAFTA has revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has been nominated along with nine other games for the all-important Game of The Year award. The Game of The Year award is the only one of its annual video game awards that is selected by public vote. Here’s the ten games you can choose from:

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that he was convinced to bring Tekken 3D Prime Edition to the Nintendo 3DS after seeing passionate Nintendo fans playing Super Smash Bros. Harada witnessed a gathering of hardcore Super Smash Bros fans playing the game competitively at a US Major League Gaming tournament.

“Super Smash Bros. had everyone from adults to kids, even women so I thought they would be all playing cheerfully together.”

“But there were these deafening cheers coming from them playing tournaments, like ‘Auuugghhh!’

“I saw that and I was convinced that participants feel the same things while they play Super Smash Bros. and Tekken.”

3.- Nintendo has uploaded a brand new Kid Icarus: Uprising trailer which shows off Pits wide range of moves, and showcases exactly how the controls scheme works on the Nintendo 3DS.

The footage is a little blurry, but it’s well worth a watch. Kid Icarus Uprising launches in Europe and North America on March 23rd.

As far as we're aware, Aliens: Colonial Marines is coming to the Wii U, and you can move your eyes up a few pixels to see the box art. I love anything in the Aliens franchise (but not really the crossover with Predator), so this has me very excited.

Tiger Woods 13 for the Wii has been cancelled, but Electronic Arts has told Kotaku that "there could be a Wii U version". I'd consider this a guarantee though. There's no reason Electronic Arts wouldn't bring the game to the platform

4.- There are new screenshots from the multiplayer mode in Kid Icarus: Uprising that provide a closer look at he environments and battles from the game’s multiplayer mode.

It has been revealed that there are bosses in Rune Factory 4 that become potential spouses after you have defeated them. The two that have been revealed so far are the bright and cheery girl named Kohaku, who transforms from a butterfly-like creature, and the quiet boy named Dilas, that turns from a unicorn-like creature into a human.

5-time Grammy Award winner LADY GAGA is set to make her triumphant return to the stage with her Born This Way Ball. In this brand new tour, Gaga will perform her latest album Born This Way as well as music from both The Fame and The Fame Monster. The Born This Way Ball, produced globally by Live Nation, will begin on April 27th, 2012 in Seoul, South Korea, and will travel the globe including cities that Gaga has never played before.

Lady Gaga’s last tour – The Monster Ball – captivated audiences around the globe, receiving rave reviews in every city. The Sun called it “the best live show you will see this year,” and the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards named it the Major Tour of the Year.

Gaga confirmed on Twitter that the world tour would feature 110 dates throughout 2012 and 2013. The tour is set to hit Europe in August, followed by Latin America near the end of the year -- presumably right before she releases her new album, which is penciled in for a release this Fall. Lady Gaga will return to the United States in January 2013, with dates running until March.

In other tour related news, according to technology website, Wired, Gaga is in talks with SonicNotify, an innovative startup that embeds inaudibly high-pitched audio signals within music or any other audio track:

“With Sonic, we can unlock anything that your iPhone or Android can do, as long as the SonicNotify SDK is built into an app that’s running in the background on your phone. For example, some of the stuff we’re doing with Gaga is when she is performing, mid-set, everyone in the arena gets a notification which lets them choose which song she plays for her encore,” said Jesse Israel, co-founder of Cantora Records + Labs.

“We can also target sections through radius with frequencies, so we can have Section C’s phones turn into purple hearts, while Section F on the other side of the arena has red squares,” Israel added.

Apparently Junction Point is “implementing Wii U support for Epic Mickey 2.” Not sure if that means WiiU SKU or Wii version supports tablet.

Online gaming publication Eurogamer has written an interesting piece detailing the slow decline of Rare as one of the world’s top development studios. The article has plenty of interviews with various key developers and ponders whether it was Microsoft who killed Rare, or Nintendo by letting the veteran developer go. Who do you think ruined Rare?

Nintendo has revealed that it will be participating in two presentations at this years Game Developers Conference, which takes place on March 5 through 9 in San Francisco’s Moscone Centre. Nintendo’s first session will be ”Thinking in 3D: The Development of Super Mario 3D Land” and the second session which Nintendo will be participating in is titled “Existential Crisis: Do We Really Need AI?.”

2.- Nintendo has officially confirmed that Kirby’s Dream Land 2 will be joining Wario Land and Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters on the Japanese Nintendo 3DS eShop. Kirby’s Dream Land 2 is due to be released on the Nintendo 3DS eShop this week in Japan, but Nintendo has yet to confirm when we will get it in the West.

US retail emporium GameStop has slashed the pricing of the Nintendo 3DS to $150 ahead of the release of Sony’s PlayStation Vita, which is due for release on February 22nd in North America. Other retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart are still charging the recommended retail price of $169.99. Maybe we will see other retailers follow suit?

A source close to Dual Pixels has told the publication that Ubisoft is preparing to unleash Lady Gaga on Wii U and Wii via its forthcoming game Lady Gaga: The Experience. Ubisoft will reportedly be announcing the game at this years E3 event in June. Previous entries in the Experience franchise include Michael Jackson and Black Eyed Peas, so it doesn’t sound too far-fetched that we will be seeing a Lady Gaga iteration. Bet you can’t wait.

3.- Online gaming publication Siliconera has revealed that Kid Icarus: Uprising will come bundled with six augmented reality cards. When you place two of the cards together and scan them with the Nintendo 3DS camera your characters of choice will pop out and battle against each other. Kid Icarus: Uprising launches March 23rd in Europe and North America.

Namco Bandai has shared that Tekken 3D Prime Edition will feature the following modes:
Survival – Tests how long you can keep fighting on one bar of health.

Quick – Fight ten battles in quick succession known.
Practice – Hone your skills.
Cards – Look at the special cards you can collect via StreetPass (more details here).
Profile – View your records and customize the color of the characters.

Gamelion Studios has announced that they’re bringing SpeedX 3D, a tunnel-racing game, to the eShop. The original game has received over ten million downloads via iOS, Android and other platforms and will be released “soon”. That’s as specific of a release date have for now.

4.- The latest issue of Famitsu magazine has confirmed that, in regards to the DLC program for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, there will be 8 songs available for purchase when it launches in Japan. The songs will cost ¥150 each, or about $1.95. There will be new songs every two or three weeks from both the numbered and non-numbered Final Fantasy games.
