Valerie and Jonathan are falling in love since they were in high school. They finally tied the knot this past September at the Iglesia Pentecostal Emanuel Church in Wildwood, NJ in front of their families and friends.

It was a beautiful wedding as they prepared the decoration by themselves, from the church decoration to the reception hall.

Congratulations to Valerie and Jonathan! Many blessings to you as you guys are expecting a baby girl in January 2013! We're so excited to have a maternity photo session in this coming month!

Are you prepared?

2012-10-28T00:17:00.003-04:00

We are preparing for Hurricane Sandy as I wrote this blog.

This past summer, a violent storm hit South Jersey so bad where we lost power for 3 days on the hot summer days.
It was the most difficult thing to handle as we have our 3 months old baby with a temperature exceeded 95 degree for those 3 days.

We bought at least over 200 lbs of ice to keep our refrigerator and also our baby bed area cool.

The NOAA predicted that Hurricane Sandy will be a direct hit to the East Coast area.

Image from NOAA/National Weather Service

Please prepare yourself for the Hurricane Sandy as it is approaching us within hours.
Here are some of the list you can get you ready for it (cited from FEMA):

Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation
Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alert and extra batteries for both
Flashlight and extra batteries
First aid kit
Whistle to signal for help
Dust mask to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place
Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation
Wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
Manual can opener for food

If you may have generator for your house, please consider the following pre-caution on using it by the U. S. Fire Administration (USFA).

* To avoid carbon monoxide hazards:

Always use generators outdoors, away from doors, windows and vents.
Never use generators in homes, garages, basements, crawl spaces, or other enclosed or partially enclosed areas, even with ventilation.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions.
Install battery-operated or plugin (with battery backup) carbon monoxide (CO) alarms in your home, following manufacturer’s instructions.
Test CO alarms often and replace batteries when needed.

* To avoid electrical hazards:

Keep the generator dry. Operate on a dry surface under an open, canopy-like structure.
Dry your hands before touching the generator.
Plug appliances directly into generator or use a heavy-duty outdoor-rated extension cord.
Make sure entire extension cord is free of cuts or tears and the plug has all 3 prongs, especially a grounding pin.
NEVER plug the generator into a wall outlet. This practice, known as backfeeding, can cause an electrocution risk to utility workers and others served by the same utility transformer.
If necessary to connect generator to house wiring to power appliances, have a qualified electrician install appropriate equipment. Or, your utility company may be able to install an appropriate transfer switch.

* To avoid fire hazards:

Before refueling the generator, turn it off and let it cool. Fuel spilled on hot engine parts could ignite.
Always store fuel outside of living areas in properly labeled, nonglass containers.
Store fuel away from any fuelburning appliance.

We keep you all in our prayers and be safe everyone!

NYIP - Photo Walk V | Brooklyn, NY - DUMBO Area

2012-10-01T20:39:00.002-04:00

Summer season is over... Hope all of you had a great one!

This blog post is an overdue from New York Indonesian Photographer (NYIP) - Photo Walk that we did back in March 2012.

You probably wondering why it was jumping to the PhotoWalk V from the last post on PhotoWalk II. It is because I did not come to the PhotoWalk III and IV as I was a bit busy with our soon to be newborn baby girl... It will be another blog post on that :D.

It was cold and wet afternoon as we did our Photo Walk that day. We had 10 people who joined in the rain and learned about off-flash camera techniques.

As usual, we cannot go doing PhotoWalk with an empty stomach. We ate an Indonesian Food at Java Village in Elmhurst, NY.

Here are some of the images we took that day.

Sharing with others of the images they took

Your Votes MATTERS!

We all can help the Ronald McDonald House® of Detroit, next to Children’s Hospital of Michigan, to receive $250,000 from the Home Depot Foundation, where the money can help more families in needs during difficult time. The Ronald McDonald House® of Detroit is one of the eleven non-profit organizations that competing for the grand prize.

Your daily votes during the month of March 2012 could help them to help more families during their difficult times!

The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit has been providing a home-away-from-home to the parents with hospitalized children for years.

"Sometimes family members find themselves in a strange city without the comforting support of friends and relatives. When this happens, a parent may feel fear and defeat — at a time when the child needs the courage and love only a family member can provide. That’s where RMH/Detroit comes in …. Having family members close by has often proved to be the best medicine for a seriously ill child. But mom, dad, sister and brother can’t be there if they must pay for an expensive hotel and meal costs for weeks or months. RMH/Detroit can help." ~excerpted from The Ronald McDonald House of Detroit.

Thank you all and please share with others. Your daily votes DO matter!!!

What is that in the sand?

2012-02-10T20:51:00.009-05:00

"Horseshoe crabs are arthropods that live primarily in and around shallow ocean waters on soft sandy or muddy bottoms. They will occasionally come on shore for mating. They are commonly used as bait and in fertilizer, and in recent years there has been a decline in number of individuals, as a consequence of coastal habitat destruction in Japan and overharvesting along the east coast of North America." excerpted from Wikipedia

As I walked around the beach yesterday, I saw many of dead horseshoe crabs washed ashore around Cape May beaches. This particular dead horseshoe crab had an open/cracked shell that filled with sand and the tail was apart from the body, laid next to it.

To capture for a dramatic look of this image, I kneeling down on my knees and put my elbows on the sands. Hope you enjoy it!

Beach Walk Path

2012-02-09T22:40:00.006-05:00

As I walking on the beach, I feel the serenity of nature! The sound of rolling waves washed ashore and the breeze of the ocean filled the moment. What a peaceful thing to enjoy the day...

Wish you all have a good time!

Blue Chair

2012-02-09T22:30:00.003-05:00

Walking around in North Cape May beach area in NJ is always a fun thing to do.
You can watch the ferry as it made the way from the Cape May Canal to the Delaware Bay.

As I watched people walking their dogs on the beach and others watching the sunset, I saw this blue metal chair that intrigued my creativity to how can I get a unique photo out of it.

Hope you enjoy it!
Have a great day!

Cool Car and Great Marketing on the Wheel

2012-01-22T21:00:00.004-05:00

I love cars...

I was walking around in Asbury Park, NJ, and saw a cool car parked on the side of the road.
It was a purple Dodge Challenger with a cover-all skin all around its body.
A unique feature of the car is the business card holder mounted on the driver rear side panel with business cards inside.

The car owned by the business owner of Chop Chop Bang Bang, a hair beauty salon that is located on 408 Emory Street, Asbury Park, NJ.

Great job on marketing on the wheel!
