Lifes obstacles

Thinking back to the last years of my granny being alive, she always dressed up showed up and wanted nice things.I still remember her in hospital asking me to get her a new black bag.Her spirit never gave up, no matter how old or how sick she was.

So i sit here a week before my next operation,i feel like giving up on everything and like everything is at its worst, then i remember my granny and her amazing fighting spirit and zest for life.

I can do it.Just another obstacle in life.Its not the end.

Concerning Haters

Maybe the haters aren't hating, and that's just something we say to dismiss constructive criticism? Maybe haters gonna hate because they know you're capable of so much more. Or maybe haters gonna hate, because that's what haters do?

I take my space seriously, doubly so as social media requires a level of professionalising - it's kinda different to other roles - no one who isn't a specialist really questions a chemical engineer (or an accountant for that matter). I sometimes come off as defensive or dismissive when people make suggestions, and it's never my intention. If I consider that it's enthusiasm towards shared success, it makes it easier for me to deal with.

I guess it's about finding the balance between being possessive and being indifferent.

Clash of Civilisations

What if the clash of civilizations was an internal struggle? What if peace simply stopped at making peace with oneself? Might be easier to cope with despondency, to rationalize hate. Hate from those you've never met, and those that share your beliefs. There's a problem when we frame beheadings as barbaric, but have no problem with drone attacks. Both are detestable. Both are worthy of contempt, outrage.

I wonder what comes to your mind when you read 'beheadings'. Did you imagine Marie Antoinette, awaiting the guillotine, perhaps Ned Stark kneeling at King's Landing, or like me, you thought about the Egyptians, slaughtered by ISIS a few months ago.

My fears are closer to home. I don't fear being attacked while I'm at the musjid, like so many in Pakistan do. I'm grateful for that. I fear smash and grabbers, robbers, remote jammers and a political machine twisted to protect one man, while being complicit in denying the rights of so many.

I can switch on my playstation, and for a moment, make peace with the knotted, lashes of reality. Well, as long as loadshedding doesn't spoil my middle-class pleasures. It's hard to have faith in humanity. It's hard to imagine peace. Maybe I'll find peace in indifference. Or in the clutches of self-censorship, the force that compels me to wait before commenting, posting, committing. I haven't found peace elsewhere.

How to Launch Dota 2 w/o Launching Steam First

Most Dota 2 players will know that when you need to play Dota 2, Steam will already be opened and running the background, as all Steam gamers should have it, but you will most possibly be required to first click on the Steam taskbar icon at the bottom-right of Windows to get a menu to Launch your favorite games or Steam pages.

With my method, you won't have to launch Steam and go through that clickety-click process... you can easily access the Dota 2 shortcut from your Steam taskbar shortcut with a simple right-click, and voila, your favorite games are pinned to your Steam shortcut as depicted below.

Using Spiked Carapace no longer removes Vendetta
Added Aghamin's Scepter upgrade to Nyx: Adds a new ability, Burrow, with a one second cast time. While Burrowed, Nyx Assassin is invisible and unable to move/attack, but has 40% damage resistance, and regenerates 1.5% of his health and mana per second. Nyx Assassin's abilities also have improved properties while burrowed: Mana Burn and Impale have 50% increased cast range, Impale Cooldown is reduced from 13 to 9, and Spiked Carapace instantly stuns any enemy units within a 300 area of effect without requiring them to hurt him first. Casting Vendetta causes Burrow to end

So today decided to cash in on my script from the doctor of Tramacet.

Ahh 3 months post op.Have been off the pain meds for while back at work and just working through the pain.

So I'm like immune to this pain killer.Totally amazing when you laying in hospital with a broken femur for two weeks . It really helped me get through the toughest pains at first before and after . Though after it made me really nauseous and stop eating for 3 weeks . not a pain killer for the weak.

So if you wana sleep for 3 days take one of that crazy ass drug if not don't even try that shit it's on a whole new level.

TKR physio time

So been doing my thing at Westville hospital twice a week . Physio is kewl never knew I could Do all the things I try there especially on the trampoline and sqauts. wow why would I do squats with the behind I have...anyhoo it's fun and I got no choice cause my physio is like a exercise policeman.

Get on that and do this and so many reps!!!

It's like a mini gym at the hospital.
So I see this Zulu lady every time I go she's sitting there outside the lift so I assume she's a nurse that always coming off her shift.

So I asked her and apparently she's there for dialysis three times a week . so I think I'm not so bad I still have my health and my functioning organs . Shukr alhamdullilah.

Spontaneous. ..maybe some other day

I wonder what comes to your mind when you read 'beheadings'. Did you imagine Marie Antoinette, awaiting the guillotine, perhaps Ned Stark kneeling at King's Landing, or like me, you thought about the Egyptians, slaughtered by ISIS a few days ago.

My fears are closer to home. I don't fear being attacked while I'm at the musjid, like so many in Pakistan do. I'm grateful for that. I fear smash and grabbers, robbers, remote jammers and a political machine twisted to protect one man, while being complicit in denying the rights of so many.

I can switch on my playstation, and for a moment, make peace with the knotted, lashes of reality. Well, as long as loadshedding doesn't spoil my middle-class pleasures. It's hard to have faith in humanity. It's hard to imagine peace. Maybe I'll find peace in indifference. Or in the clutches of self-censorship, the force that compels me to wait before commenting, posting, committing. I haven't found peace elsewhere.

So many months later

Sooo in October I had a little accident while in the shower and broke my femur . everything after that is kinda a blur I stayed 1 week in Westville hospital with my broken bones . While there I was told I had a tumour that weakened my bones and so I fell.

My next adventure took me onto Cape Town which lasted just over a month . I had to see a tumour and replacement specialist and there I had my surgery done. A new knee and femur and so it's 5 weeks after my surgery and I'm going for physio and trying to walk.

Life has been hard not being able to do things for your self and depending on your family for help . I'm so blessed with so many people that helped me along the way and constantly pray for me.

So this year or the next few months will be trying to get back into normal things while hopping along.

My first Google Hangout

I'm quite chuffed that the Chicky Lamba story has gone the way of Harlem Shake and fizzled out as it was equal parts funny and embarrassing. I tend to choose my battles on social, and actively avoid being part of the flavour of the month (or the day if our propensity for fickleness is acknowledged). I do this because emerging stories often lack enough context to allow one to communicate an informed comment. Maybe i'm 'doing social media' wrong. We tweet to stay relevant, but that sometimes comes at the cost of value (really adding something to the conversation).

Anyway, The Daily Vox were kind enough to conduct a Google Hangout with me a few weeks ago on the chicky lamba story, but with a focus on how social media has changed the way we consume news, video content and memes. Here's the clip. Enjoy
