When the theme was originally designed you could press the back button in that menu but your selector would disappear and be lost till you were lucky enough to find it again. The best way to solve this issue was force the user to not be in the menu when it is closed. I will try to contact Zman and ask him if the clock addition is feasible, don't forget though you don't want to sacrifice speed for an option like that.
