4. The Largest Twine Ball

The world`s largest ball of twine has been made by sisal twine and is over 40 feet large in diameter. Well over 7 million feet of twine has been used to make this twine ball. The twine ball was constructed in 1953 by Frank Stoeber who made an 8 feet large ball in four years. In 2003, the total length of the twine ball was measured to be around 7 million feet in total.

7. Lucy the Elephant by James Lafferty

James Lafferty began work on the first animal shaped building in 1882 when he was granted an exclusive patent to work on animalistic buildings and structures for seventeen years by the United State`s government. Lucy is six stories tall and 18-feet wide and 60-feet long. She weighs 90 tons, and is made of one million pieces of wood in total, also acting as a functional building. It skill exists today and remains a famous road side attraction for travelers.

8. The Paper House – Swedish Wonder!

A Swedish woman built a house out of newspaper on which work began in 1922. The furniture inside the house is also made out of newspaper. All in all, over 100,000 newspapers have been used to build the house and its accessories and 216 layers of newspapers have been made. Alongside newspaper, Apple peel, glue and water has been used to hold the newspapers together around the wooden frame of the house.

1. Fish Flukes – Parasites in Water

Fish flukes are one of the most well known parasites. These parasites are found in lakes where they attach themselves to a fish. Fish Flukes are transferred from one lake or pond to another by the help of birds. When a bird like a Pelican or Eagle attack a fish, these parasites are transported from one place to another. In some cases, the fish are swollen due to these parasites which cause infection. This makes the fish easy to be spotted and attracts birds.

2. Strepsipteran – Parasite Fly

Another addition to the most incredible and horrifying zombie parasites is the Strepsipteran. The male Strepsipteran searches for a female Strepsipteran for mating. The female parasite is found in another insect, with only her head sticking out. She releases a pheromone to attract the male. After mating, the female parasite lays small live larvae which are developed further.

3. Gordian Worm – A Lethal Parasite

Gordian worms are found in lakes. These worms attach themselves to cricket to develop and once the worm is fully developed, the worm dives in the water after strangling the cricket once it lands on water.

Gordian worms spend a lot of time feeding of other hosts and survive through this process alone.

4. Leucochloridium – Spreading Through Droppings

Leucochloridium is a very bizarre parasitic organism in existence today. The parasite attaches itself to the body of a snail and makes it appear attractive. When a bird, most notably the Song Bird attacks the snail, it rips of its head in which the parasite lives. The head is in reality a sack of fat and the parasite transports itself through bird droppings once the bird eats the head. In the meanwhile, the snail grows back to normal and the process repeats.

5. Sacculina – Mind Controlling Parasite

The Sacculina is one worm which attaches itself to a crab and grows until it is mature enough. During the mating process, the crab is mentally controlled to behave like a female. Upon mating, the Sacculina multiplies and the offspring often appears as a crab. In initial stages, the Sacculina appears to be very small, however it grows steadily.

6. Ribeirioa – Deforming Tadpoles

Ribeirioa is easily the most horrible of all parasites on the list. It usually attaches itself to a tadpole and infects it, causing bizarre deformities. The deformities are usually extreme and cause physical problems for the tadpole. It may cause the frog to grow extra limbs and cause body to be damaged. This causes problems in swimming and escaping predators. In return, the Ribeirioa is given a free flight to another pond by the bird that eats the tadpole/frog.

7. Pseudacteon – The Ultimate Parasite

Pseudacteon kills the host by infecting it slowly. The host is usually an ant whose brain is eaten by the Pseudacteon after infection. In the head, a maggot starts to nurture. The ant does not die completely. The ant`s body remains alive and wanders until the head is dropped. It is in this head, which the maggot will use as a transformation chamber and convert into a new fly.

8. Cordyceps – Parasite Warrior!

Cordyceps fight to survive in the body of various insects and tiny bugs. This parasite survives by killing their target and sprout in a mushroom. After this process, some spores are released. In most cases, the parasite kills their victim around dawn so germination process can be carried out easily in moist air. Cordyceps remain one of the most deadly and effective parasites currently known to man.

9. Lancet Fluke – Enemy of the Ants

The Lancet Fluke enters the body of a cow. Once the cow drops feces, snails eat it. The Lancet Fluke, now in the snail`s body attack the snail from inside, causing the snail to leave a slimy ball of waste. This slime ball attracts ants, which eat it. Once the ant eats it, the Lancet Fluke takes control of the ant. The ant is controlled to bit grass and so it is eaten by a cow. If the ant is not eaten, the same process is repeated until the cow swallows the ant.

10. Glyptapenteles – The king of Parasites

Glyptapenteles is a parasite associated with caterpillars. The larvae attached with the caterpillar. Once attached, it devours on the caterpillar only partially. After the cocoon develops, the caterpillar guards it with its silk. This process continues until the cocoon matures. It is then, when the caterpillar dies of exhaustion and the parasite survives.
