All life one seeks, for the perfect match
But it is a lie, always there’s a catch
Falling for the one, although love unrequited
In this whirl of madness, my heart it was ignited
Following my own advice, oh sweet Mandalay
You awoke my sleeping heart, and then cast me away

Welcome all of you, to the fourteenth of May
You look bewildered, what happened that date
A child came into the world, too soon but not too late
And now another year, the day has come again
Here to put a mark on the world, or to have lived in vain

I have lived a lifetime, with evil I have dined
I have sworn to be good, all darkness left behind
I have felt the touch of love, and had it torn from me
I have received promises, that one day it would be
I have waited centuries, for my love to return
I have been let down again, and missed another turn
