Fighting nice means being respectful to one another. If you are mad at your partner, let him know, but in a nice way. Try sitting your partner down and explaining to him why you're upset. Did he leave the house a mess? Was he out late the night before? Did he forget to feed the animals? Whatever your reason for being upset with your partner (be it small or large) simply tell him nicely. Start by saying, 'I'm upset that...' and finish with whatever it is your partner did or didn't do. Speaking kindly, rather than attacking and yelling, will get you a lot further and avoid heated arguments.

Never accuse your partner. When you are angry at your partner try not to accuse him by using words such as 'you never' and 'you always'. Using the word 'you' when speaking to your partner, points the finger solely at him and makes him defensive immediately. While it is understandable that your mad and your partner needs to know this, it's also important for him to hear you out. Try using words like 'I feel like you...', 'Sometimes, I think you...', or 'I am upset because...'. By taking the blame completely off your partner and using the word 'I', you are saying that it's you who feels a certain way and you're giving him the sense that you are open to taking partial blame. After all, it takes two people to be wrong. No one person is right all the time.

jQuery(document).ready(function(){
           jQuery('#jsArticleStep3 span.image a:first').attr('href','http://i.ehow.com/images/a04/vq/64/fight-nice-partner-resolve-issues-1.3-800X800.jpg');

Allow your partner the chance to explain when your upset. Don't keep yelling at your partner after you've told him you're upset. Simply explain that your hurt, angry, mad...at something he did or didn't do, and stand there quietly; letting him tell you why a situation happened. When you allow your partner a chance to respond to your anger, you're opening up the lines of communication and learning to fight nice. Fighting nice means give and take. You tell your partner how you feel and then allow him in return to explain himself and how he feels. If you yell and complain about your partner and the situation, it will only cause the argument to get worse, and nothing will be resolved. Try to listen as best you can and keep your voice calm.

});

Tell your partner what you'd like from him next time. In order to fight nice and resolve issues, your partner needs to know why something upset you and what he can do next time so it doesn't happen again. Some people do not realize when they've upset someone. This tends to happen a lot in relationships because either one partner or the other expects that their mind will be read or that a partner will just know their needs. Fighting nice means expressing your needs and wants in a positive way so that your partner knows what you expect out of them. Don't be afraid to ask for what you want so that you aren't let down or angry again next time. Just make sure to be nice when asking.

5

Be sure to apologize if you upset your partner with hurtful words or actions. In fact, fighting nice means avoiding hurtful words or actions if possible. While it's easy to say things in the heat of the moment, it's impossible to take it back after all is said and done. So try to be the bigger person and say your sorry. A meaningful apology and even a hug help to make fights between partners better. When you can let go of the fight by making amends with each other, your relationship will be even stronger. Both partners will recognize that your relationship is strong enough to get over obstacles and that you can make it through just about anything. Just remember to treat your partner the way you'd like to be treated and apologize for mistakes if you were in the wrong.

If you really want to get better, you’ll go out of your way to change your weaknesses into your strengths. It’s not easy, but it’s an exciting challenge that will make you grow as an athlete and as a person. First, determine what your weaknesses are. Strong competition will bring that out. Analyze where you need improvement. Then, turn that weakness into your strength. The best athletes work hard to overcome their weaknesses. It’s fun, and easy, to practice your strengths because those are what you do best. However, the only way to get better is to work long and hard on your weaknesses in order to turn them into strengths. It all boils down to how good you really want to be.

When you make a mistake, you can do one of two things. You can ignore it – deny it and convince yourself it wasn’t a mistake. This way, you’ll keep making the same mistake over and over. Or, you can admit your mistakes, learn from them and have the courage to test yourself again in competition. This way is more risky, but also more rewarding. Admitting you have a weakness and not working on it is just as unproductive as hiding your mistakes. You won’t improve either way. You’ll continue to work on what you like to do, which is what you’re the best at. The result is your strengths will get stronger, while your weaknesses will get weaker. You’ll never reach your full potential this way. You may be able to get by in the short run on your raw talent or ability; but in the long run, you have to improve your weaknesses if you expect to win. Take tennis, for example.

You may be able to slide by sometimes by hitting your forehand, when you should be hitting your backhand. But when it’s set point and your opponent hits a shot deep to your backhand, what are you going to do?

I’ll tell you what you’re going to do – you’re going to lose.

When the game is on the line, there’s no substitute for skill. When your skill is perfected, you’ll have no weaknesses. You won’t be vulnerable; you’ll be in control and ready to counter anything your opponent might throw at you.

Don’t misunderstand us. We’re not saying you should work on your weaknesses until they no longer restrict you. We’re saying you should work on them until they’re the stronger part of your game. So they become your strengths.

Take a great running back with concrete hands. He worked hard to get the softest hands in the league. Now he’s the best receiver and still a great runner. What do you have? An all-pro, a future Hall of Famer. Why? Because he expanded his opportunities and didn’t settle for less than he could be.

This holds true for athletes in all sports: The pitcher who can’t field; the golfer who drives shots 250 yards down the middle, but can’t putt; the basketball player who goes to the boards like Doctor J., but can’t make a foul shot; the tennis player who has great ground strokes, but is afraid of coming to the net; and the wrestler who is great when he’s on top but is hopeless when he needs to escape. To get the competitive edge over your opponents, make the weakest part of your game the strongest.

How to Find the Perfect Relationship

Finding a relationship in todays society can be a full time job, let alone a relationship that will last a lifetime.

The more you look and try to find the love of your life the less likely you are going to find it. By distracting yourself from life with this task, you are missing what could be right in front of you.

You choose to look past the present in search of something that you may already have. By diverting yourself from the present moment, you could be missing out on the very opportunity that you are in search of. It is true what they say, "What your looking for comes when you least expect it." So take this little piece of advice and use it to your advantage. Dont waste your life looking for love, let love find you.

When you look for love, all you will find are dead-end relationships, but when you least expect it the love of your life will come along at the perfect time. It is found to be a fact that the more you try to satisfy a relationship or even find a relationship, the less success you will see.

When you are trying to find something you are not yourself and no one sees you, but when you are being yourself, someone will see you. The real you. And this is what you want them to see. This is how you will find the perfect relationship, by letting it come to you. Its as simple as that!

Good sex tips

If you want to make the most of your sex life, these tips are a good way to start.

Video: a healthy sex life
As long as you're talking and listening to each other, you're well on the way to a healthy sex life. However, even the most contented lovers can have fun trying new things, so here are some ideas.

1. Build anticipation
Agree on a period of time, say one week, when you won’t have orgasms or penetrative sex. At first, allow only kissing and holding each other. Gradually move on to touching and stroking each other, masturbation, oral sex, or whatever feels right for you. But avoid orgasm. At the end of the week, allow yourselves the pleasure of orgasm, through any kind of sex you like. This week may help to heighten your senses to all the other wonderful feelings you can share when you’re having sex.

2. Massage
Massage can help you have very sensual sex. As part of foreplay, it's a great way to start things off slowly, and relax into the feel of each other’s skin as your arousal intensifies.
But a simple massage that doesn’t lead to sex can also work wonders for your sex life. A non-sexual massage will familiarise (or refamiliarise) you with your partner’s body, reduce stress and reaffirm the intimacy between you. If you don’t want a massage to lead to sex, discuss this with your partner so you can avoid any misunderstanding.

3. The senses
Good sex can embrace all the senses, not just touch. Scented oil for a massage (don't get oil on a latex condom as this can damage it), music and candles for soft lighting can all be erotic, as well as listening to your partner’s breathing and the sounds that they make. Taste each other as you kiss. If you both want to, you could mix food and sex - feed each other something delicious and juicy, such as strawberries.

4. Whisper
Whether it’s sweet nothings or your sexy intentions, whispering things to each other can add an extra thrill. It doesn’t have to be during foreplay or sex. A sexy phone call leave both of you looking forward to the event for hours or days.
This works with texts and emails too, but make sure you send them to the right person, and remember that your employer has the right to access your work email.

5. Masturbation
Masturbation, by yourself or with your partner, can be a bonus for your sex life. Exploring your own body and sexual responses means that you can share this knowledge with your partner. Masturbating your partner can help you learn more about what turns them on. It can also be a useful option if one of you doesn’t feel like full penetrative sex, or if you have different levels of desire. Talk about it with your partner.

6. Sex toys
If you and your partner both feel comfortable with it, using sex toys can be an arousing thing to do together. Some people use vibrators (and more) as an enjoyable part of their sex life. If you’ve never thought about using sex toys before, how do you feel about trying them? You can buy them online or in sex shops.

7. Read a book
There are many books that have exercises and ideas to help you achieve a fulfilling sex life, whatever your age, gender, sexual orientation or taste. If you’ve never thought about buying a book about sex, why not do it now? You might wish you’d done it years ago.

8. Share fantasies and desires
Everyone has unique fantasies, tastes and preferences when it comes to sex. From earlobes to ankles, hairline to hips, pirates to picnics, don’t be afraid to talk about them. If you and your partner know about each other’s turn-ons, you can make the most of them.

9. Keep it clean
We’re talking about your general hygiene. You don’t have to keep yourself super-scrubbed: a certain amount of sweat is fine, as long as it isn’t overwhelming. But be respectful towards your partner, and wash every day to prevent nasty smells and tastes.

10. Relax
Sex with a loving partner can be one of the most beautiful and intense experiences in life. Sometimes the best sex happens when you’re not worrying about making it exciting or orgasmic. Relax with your partner, and great sex may come and find you.

Never Give Up

Believe In Your Dreams
Don’t sell yourself short. In life there are going to be many people who will try to bring you down and tell you what you want to achieve is not possible. Don’t let anyone destroy your dreams.

Prove Yourself
You don’t want to be known as someone that is weak and gives up. Go out there and prove yourself to the world and to yourself. You CAN and WILL achieve what you set out to do. The only time you fail is when you give up.

You Deserve To Be Happy
Don’t ever let anybody tell you otherwise. You deserve to be happy and you deserve to have success. Keep that mindset and never give up until you reach your destination!

Get Rich or Die Trying
Like Fiddy (50 cent) says, “Get rich or die trying”. 50 Cent is rich, he made it (although he did get shot 9 times). Face your fears and don’t take the easy way out by giving up.

You Deserve To Be Happy
This means doing what you want, achieving your goals not living up to others expectations because this is your life. It's just tuning out the little voice that says "What will so-and-so think."
Write down all your flaws everything you don't like about yourself. Divide them into three columns: worth worrying about, who cares? and w
hy is it even on this list? Rip them all up. This is not about changing yourself. This is being yourself and loving yourself for it.

Eliminate! Identify places or people or things that make you feel uncomfortable with yourself. Eliminate this stuff from your schedule. You have no time for people who don't accept you.

Forget others' opinions. If you feel fat because someone said you were they were probably covering up for their own insecurity problem. Feel superior, take the high road and forget.
Learn to forgive. Once your self-esteem is booming and confidence glowing I bet at least one person will be sorry. Forgive and forget. Everyone makes mistakes. You did by listening to them.
Enjoy yourself! Life is short. Live it well. Never back down from an obstacle you face. And always remember, you are number one. You are you and its only the world around you.

Learn to have a good laugh everyday. Call it your daily dose of laughter. Laughter has been proven to help you relax, boost your immune system, protect your heart, and help you just feel good in general. Think about old stuff that you thought was funny and laugh about it again!

Self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives, yet so many people struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle: People who lack self-confidence can find it difficult to become successful.
After all, most people are reluctant to back a project that's being pitched by someone who was nervous, fumbling and overly apologetic.
On the other hand, you might be persuaded by someone who speaks clearly, who holds his or her head high, who answers questions assuredly, and who readily admits when he or she does not know something.
Self-confident people inspire confidence in others: their audience, their peers, their bosses, their customers, and their friends. And gaining the confidence of others is one of the key ways in which a self-confident person finds success.
The good news is that self-confidence really can be learned and built on. And, whether you’re working on your own self-confidence or building the confidence of people around you, it’s well-worth the effort!

Why Do So Many Marriages End in Divorce Nowadays

MR.James Obedi

The times are changing is an expression that is often used but not all change is good. For marriages, the changes are expressed in ever increasing numbers of divorces. Why do so many marriages end in divorce nowadays? In fact, if we study the data over the last hundred years you will find that rising divorce rates are nothing new.

The Statistics of Divorce

If you look at the statistics since the beginning of last Century, you will find that a very small percentage of marriages ended in divorce up to the 1920's. There was then a steady increase throughout the 40's and 50's but then there was a huge spike during the 60's and 70's. Actually, from the 80's to the beginning of the 90's, the rate slowed significantly and even fell downwards by the end of the 90's. But it is on the rise once more this Century.

So, as you can appreciate there is nothing new about a rising trend in divorces. It doesn't matter so much the percentage as the shear numbers of families affected by divorce due to the much higher population.

Which Groups are More likely to get Divorced

First of all, the current divorce rate in the US is anywhere between 40% and 50% depending on the source. That is a pretty sad statistic - almost 1 in 2 marriages will end up in divorce! The vast majority of these divorces are couples that married when they were between 20 and 24, followed by those under 20 years of old - not entirely surprising.

Another alarming statistic is that the 40 to 50% divorce rate is for first time marriages. If we look at second and third marriages then the rate goes up to 60 - 67% and 73 - 74% respectively. So I guess, if it didn't work out the first time for you then there is less hope the second or third time.

Why are so Many Couples Getting Divorced?

If we look at the social mentality changes of the last hundred years ago, we might get some clues. All throughout the reign of Queen Victoria in Britain, from 1837 to 1901, there were not many divorces as the Victorian era was one of high values and morals. In other words, you were married for good or for bad but you didn't get divorced - it wasn't the right thing to so!

Society was a more liberal in the "roaring" 20's than in the Victorian era, so there was a sharp increase in divorces then that continued up until the 50's. Not surprising then, that the "swinging" 60's and was the start of an enormous increase in divorces. These were decades that were each marked by rapid social change, liberty, daring, rebels, peace and love, protests, youth movements, etc

The divorce rate in the 80's and 90's dropped off as I said; but why was this? These were probably the least dynamic decades of the last Century. It was a time of new opportunities and wealth for many that saw the rise of the yuppies, or "young upwardly-mobile professional." They were a class of young people that put off marriage or raising children as their careers and making money came first.

Divorces in the 21st Century

So, divorces are once more sharply rising in this Century. What are the reasons and causes for this decades rise in the divorce rate? There have been many studies done about this subject and the number one reason that came out of it all was money. Financial problems is cited as the main concern of many couples who are struggling trying to balance a home life when both are working, or worse both are out of jobs.

Other reasons are poor communication, a lack of commitment to the marriage, infidelity, a change in priorities, addictions / substance abuse, physical / sexual abuse, and finally, a lack of conflict resolution skills. Of course, there are probably hundreds of reasons; individual reasons can be unique and complex and are beyond the scope of a mere article. But my personal perspective on the subject is that the main reason behind a lot of divorces is the poor communication and a lack of conflict resolution skills.

How To Treat Your Girlfriend

Clotting of blood

Kidney malfunction

Severe constipation

Functions of Water in the Human Body

The functions given below will help you understand the role of water in our body:

Water is essential for digesting food. It is also important for getting rid of various toxic elements from the body, in the form of urine, sweat and fecal matter.

Water helps to cushion our joints and prevents shocks in them.

Water present in blood is the carrier of oxygen and nutrients to all our body cells.

Water present in lymph (a fluid that is part of our immune system) helps the body to fight against various diseases.

Water helps to regulate and maintain our body temperature. That explains why wet poultices are used to cure fevers.

Water prevents dehydration and thus, helps to maintain proper metabolism in our body.

How Much Is Enough?
Many foods that we eat contain water to some extent and various fluids also add to the water intake of our body. Milk, fruits and vegetables are also rich sources of water. So, one should incorporate these foods to the diet as often as possible. Our body is made up mostly of water and approximately 85% of our brain, 80% of our blood and 70% of our muscle comprises of water. Moreover, every cell in our body needs water to live. So, one should make it a habit of drinking as much water as possible, preferably a minimum of 8-10 glasses regularly. The best part of water is that excess intake won’t increase the waistline, as its calorie count is absolutely zero.

makwaju djs bring you ladies

abuse abuse abuse

Poor families pay considerably more forw water compared to rich families, and millions go without adequate access everyday. This brief argues that with data available from the 2009 population census it is now feasible to follow a formulate based approach to budget allocation for water.read more

Why do women not prefer 'nice' guys?

width="200" />During the Cold War, most African leaders were very shrewd in their diplomatic game of playing one superpower against the other. Their aim was two-fold: to consolidate their own position (diplomatically and politically) and to squeeze out some economic “aid” for their countries.

For their part, the superpowers (and the Western world in general) responded benevolently, knowing too well that there were some benefits which they stood to gain as well. One of them was to turn these countries into “aid addicts” and thus perpetuate their dependency.

The end of the Cold War in the late 1980s terminated not only the superpower rivalry between the US and the then Soviet Union, but also the African leaders’ game as aforesaid. But the deadly aid addiction continued and has remained the most devastating post- World War affliction on the African economies to date.

The disappearance of the Soviet Union as a superpower also caused great anxiety, among African states, with our leaders lamenting that the continent might be “abandoned” by the Western powers whose focus now had turned to their brethren in Eastern Europe.

A similar concern was expressed recently by some African leaders in the wake of the world economic recession which originated in the US about three years ago. The recession drove even the largest and most solid economies on the verge of collapse.

Our leaders were heard saying that Western nations would not be able to send Africa “aid” because of the crisis that engulfed America and the rest of the industrial world.

All these (rather genuine) worries by African leaders underscored the severe damage that foreign aid has inflicted on the continent, inhibiting, in the process, its political and intellectual capacity to think out solutions for its own problems. Because of the aid syndrome, African politicians and their bureaucrats can hardly think independently of outside assistance! Even the citizenry have been conditioned to believe that without foreign aid, or the support and “guidance” of institutions like the IMF and World Bank, things cannot go right!

The capital outlays of many of our development projects which we could easily conceive, plan, execute and manage with our own resources “must” include a significant component of donor funding; otherwise the projects are “not feasible”!

The national budgets of most African governments cannot balance unless they are supported by substantial amounts of aid money from Western donors. (In Tanzania, where donor contribution to the national budget is about 40 per cent, it is called “General Budget Support”).

So, the aim of aid which, in Tanzanian for example, was originally intended to support ongoing, self reliant-oriented economic activity and assist in capacity building, has, over the decades, been transformed to become the basis of practically all developmental activity. In short, foreign aid has become indispensable to Africa’s – and for that matter Tanzania’s – development. Africa has become so dependent on aid that if the donors were to decide to close the “aid taps”, some of the countries’ economies would collapse immediately.

In her provocative and compelling book, “Dead Aid”, Ms Dambisa Moyo, who strongly believes (as some of us honestly do) that “aid has made the poor poorer, and growth slower”, underscores that poignant point when she poses the uncomfortable question: “What if, one by one, African countries received a phone call ….. telling them that in exactly five years the aid taps would be shut-off – permanently?”

That is the question I rolled in my mind as soon as I saw the headline of the lead story in the Sunday Citizen of last week, which read: “Budget balancing headache for Dar es Salaam–Mkulo’s tricky test as donors withhold cash”. It was all about the sudden decision of the donor community not to give Tanzania some $220 million (about Sh 297 billion) in aid. I found this exciting and thought-provoking.

As I went through the story, I tried to reframe Moyo’s brain-teasing question from the perspective of Tanzania’s aid addiction, and came up with an hypothetical one: What if President Kikwete received a telephone call from the Head of Mission of the European Union countries represented in Tanzania, as well as phone calls from the ambassadors of the US, Canada and Japan, telling him that beginning the next financial year, the aid taps will be turned off – permanently?

As I posed this question, I thought that the donors’ move could perhaps be a blessing in disguise for this country to start thinking seriously about setting her development agenda independently of donors; indeed to begin thinking out solutions for our own problems or managing our own lives and our own affairs without relying on donor support.

For I sincerely believe, as I hope many Tanzanians out there do, that this country is very rich in natural resources and has the potential to be self-reliant in her development endeavours.

Daily News by james ahadi

I HAVE just emerged from the safety of my bunker down under;now that the political war is over. The place, as most of you would agree, is full of political debris. The big take, however, is that there are many lessons to be learnt across the board.

Coincidentally, this time around, our elections have occurred concurrently with the US í mid-term ballot. In the USí polls, the Democrats have been routed loosing Congress to the Republicans.

Clearly this has been a referendum to Barak Obamaís presidency. As someone in the TIME Magazine put it early this week, the writing is clearly on the wall. For Mr Obama to win a second term in 2012, he needs a new strategy, probably that is more appealing than his first ëchangeí war-cry.

As Obama counts his dead and charts the way forward, we in Tanzania could learn a lesson from his demonstrated humility on the galling results. He took total responsibility for them and spelt out his next course of action: creating more jobs. Whether this will help him, it is a question that is open for further debate.

Certainly the terrain in Tanzanian was different. We had a general election here. Although the ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) finally won, as expected, the duel was tough. It was probably the toughest contest so far in the countryís multi-party history.

As former Prime Minister and African Unionís first Secretary General Dr Salim Ahmed Salim observed last week, this is clear evidence that democracy has grown.

A sizable number of the country’s big wigs lost their seats across Tanzania . Feeling the pinch are some political heavyweights in Arusha, Mwanza, Kigoma, Dar es Salaam and elsewhere.

Frankly, I have no qualms over why they lost. This is unquestionable since it is peopleís verdict. To me, the most crucial issue is how they lost. Because if we know the how variable in this equation then we can predict the results at future polls.

To begin with, the countryís voter scenario has drastically changed. There are far more young voters today. The ëblack boxesí in this case are video clips of the crowds that gathered soon after the polls at the town halls of Mwanza, Arusha, Kigoma and Dar es Slaam.

Responding to a question on Thursday one official of the National Election Council (NEC) told the media that the crowds at the town halls constituted people of no fixed abode, rowdy crowds. Unfortunately, that was a simplistic answer to a complex question.

The fact is that those guys were voters who wanted to get poll results without hesitation. They were mostly young and rather militant who defied police orders to disperse. Some were teargassed but went around washing their eyes re-entering the scene.

In Kigoma, for example, the media reported that subsequent to unspecified police action, the youth ran amok but came back kneeling down, raising their hands up but still petitioning for the results.

I would like to commend the police for their professional conduct during the fracas, because no excessive force was used. In all the above cases, calm returned after the results were announced.

Admittedly, what I saw in some of the youth on that day was a dramatic playback of the 1789 French Revolution and the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. The youth looked incensed just like the ëlumpensí whose only worry was to lose their chains of poverty.

Doubtlessly there will be more of these fellows at the next elections in 2015. These will include kids who are now 13 and to whom Mwalimu Julius Nyerere’s persistent calls for peace and tranquility, are just another chapter in their history books.

Instead of wishing away the imminent arrival of more radical voters, as proposed by the NEC official, CCM should do a proper diagnosis of the situation. If you ask me, they ought to do what Obama has promised his voters -- to boost the economy. In return, this would create jobs and bring down the high cost of living.

In Tanzania, these can no longer be abstract views; the countryís abundant natural endowments remain virgin waiting for the arrival of suitable suitors; good economic polices.

It is heartening; however, that President Jakaya Kikwete has accepted the Civic United Frontís Election Manifesto promising to make use of it, if and when applicable. It is
such exemplary humbleness of opening up to alternative views that will advance Tanzaniaís development agenda.

Jakaya Kikwete 2010 win

East African Business Council (EABC) Communications Officer Godwin Muhwezi Bonge, said here crop export bans by Tanzania and Kenya have denied producers of the access to markets that would otherwise guaranteed them higher returns.

In Tanzania, foreign-registered vehicles involved in transporting cargo pay 500 US dollars to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) on each entry on top of annual fees of 600 US dollars.

In Burundi, goods often undergo tedious clearance procedures from numerous agencies which include immigration, security, anti-corruption and customs department.

Traders in Burundi would like to see the Customs Department take up its rightful role of clearing consignments of goods.

Rwanda Revenue Authority does not recognise EAC Certificate of Origin particularly on goods originating from Uganda for electro-welded black tubes, while Uganda Revenue Authority and Uganda National Bureau of Standards continue to issue different requirements regarding standards on Pre-Export Verification of Conformity.

We have written to all government institutions and agencies concerned requesting them to abolish or suspend the reported barriers," said Ms Agatha Nderitu, the Executive Director of EABC.

"We want to encourage all businesses to continue reporting such trade barriers," Ms Nderitu said.

Unco-ordinated activities among border agencies involved in quality assurance and certification such as bureaus of standards, food and drug inspection agencies as well as plant health inspection agencies have resulted in duplication of efforts, causing further delays in clearing of goods.

"Activities of agencies involved in clearing of goods should adequately be coordinated and brought together under one roof to hasten the clearing process," Ms Nderitu said.

Offloading and reloading containers for verifications at all border posts also leads to unnecessary delays and material loss due to breakages.

"There is need to continue on the path of harmonizing and ensure single data capture that would reflect at all other border points," Ms Nderitu said.

Continuous presence of numerous road-blocks and weighbridges which, in most cases, act as conduits for corruption, add to the overall cost of doing business for traders. Ms Nderitu said in the past we have and will continue to urge responsible ministries to reduce the road blocks and weighbridges to a minimum.

In efforts to raise revenue, local councils have turned to levies on goods transiting through their territory. Most notorious are local council at Kajiado in Kenya, Longido in Tanzania and others in Uganda.

"The fact is that local council fees are negotiable and raises questions as to whether it is an official government levy or imposed on traders at the whims of the local authorities," Ms Nderitu said. "Such fees should be scrapped all together."

The EABC is the umbrella organization of the private sector in East Africa. Established in 1997, EABC is at the forefront of facilitating private sector participation in the integration process of the East African Community (EAC).

EABC works closely with East African Community Secretariat, East African Legislative Assembly, governments, regional economic communities, multilateral groups and the business community to improve the region's trade and investment climate.

Man drowns in hotel’s swimming pool

ONE person drown in a swimming pool at the City Garden Restaurant on Monday in Dar es Salaam.
The Ilala Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Faustine Shilogile said the incident occurred along Gerezani Street at the City Garden Restaurant premises where the body of the deceased was found floating in the swimming pool.

The RPC mentioned the deceased as Nadim Abraham (21), he said the body of the deceased has been preserved at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) for funeral arrangements while police are still investigating the matter.
