I try to get revenue from many ads network. But have no ad network make me interesting in as Adsense. I think you may be like that. But, finally speaking, what's the main things of adsense? There are many the charmings hiding beside it? No. I must say that. Here is some main things of Adsense you should know:

AdSense Earning = Impression-count x Click-though-rate x Cost-per-click x smart-pricing-factor.
Impression count is basically referring to your traffic. It means the number of times AdSense block is displayed.
Click-through-rate (CTR) is ratio of clicks per impressions. It can range from 0.1% to 30%, but most commonly around 1% to 10%.
Cost-per-click (CPC) is the earning you get per click. While traditionally it refers to the amount advertisers pay for each click, it can also mean the amount publishers get for each click.
Smart-pricing is AdSense method to determine how valuable clicks from your site is worth. If clicks on your site doesn’t provide good value to advertisers, e.g. from visitors’ geo-location that seldom translate to sales, you will only get a fraction of the supposed CPC.
Apply for AdSense account via blogger.com for faster approval.
Once you get your AdSense publisher code, you can put it any of your websites without requiring further approval.
Read and reread about GA Policy to really understand about Main things of Adsense and Terms and Conditions.
Don’t click on your own ads, or ask people to click, even if you are using proxies.
Don’t use click-bots.
Don’t encourage your visitors to click on ads. The only acceptable text is “Sponsored Links” and “Advertisements”.
Don’t put competitor contextual ads on the same page as your AdSense, for example: Yahoo Publisher Network, Clicksor. Non-contextual ads are ok.
Don’t put your ads on objectionable material, e.g. adult sites, gambling sites, mp3, etc.
Basically, don’t cheat AdSense. Google will catch you, sooner or later.
Viewing your on website will not get you banned. Just make sure you don’t click on the ads.
However, repeatedly reload your page to jack up page impressions can get you banned.
When in doubt don’t hesitate to contact the AdSense team. They are very helpful.
Choose a high paying niche without too much competition.
You can try highest paying keywords from cwire.org, but know before-hand that you’ll face very fierce competitions.

Adam Franklin: How to earn $400/day from Adsense Revenue

This is the true story of Adam Franklin and his partner, Michael Ullman. They had a blog, and it went from zero to $100/daily in 90 days. And now, that generates up to $400/daily, Adam said. Special story here, that success come from Google Adsense, when they found out "Adsense $100 Blueprint".

You wanna know how? Here's some more background on his blog:

By late last year, they had condensed the steps that make up the Blueprint. After many ‘trials’, testing, tweaking, etc., Adam and his partner had more-or-less systematized our process and distilled it into the basic “step 1, step 2…” plan that’s in the book. One of the first efforts to follow the ‘plan’ exactly was that site.

They had become enamored with the vocational training / adult ed / education niche (hint, again: still hundreds of huge, wide-open opportunities there… start with “certificate programs”, “vocational training”, etc). They had been poking around the ‘medical training’ niche using Micro Niche Finder. Some of the terms they had come across that they felt warranted further examination were “nursing school”, “medical assistant”, “medical technician”. Drilling down on “nursing school” they came across some of the terms mentioned in the ebook.

Besides, they took one as a ‘seed’ keyword, and found about 5 other related keyword phrases, all of which had decent search volume. Two of them had thousands of searches per month, with very ‘light’ competition.

Then, they registered the domain name, set up a WordPress and outsourced 10 articles, 2 each for 5 keyword phrases. 1 was used as the target “Page” URL, and one to add after as a supporting “Post”. They loaded the 5 Pages, plus they wrote the initial homepage Post.

Now it was time to launch the site. It was indexed in about 48 hours. Once it was indexed, each article was submitted to Ezinearticles. They also created a Blogger blog, and Squidoo lens, did the basic Social Bookmarking, and created 1 article set for Unique Article Wizard.

In about 6 weeks they had low Page 1 rankings for 2 of our target keyword phrases. They outsourced another 10 articles or so, and continued to add content & backlinks. They were starting to see about $10-$20/day (this particular site was averaging $.50/click). At about 8 weeks, they had Positon #2 or Position #3 for those two keyword phrases, which gave us about 400 visitors per day total. With roughly 20-25% click-through, they were now at $40-$50/day. Right around the 90 day mark, one of the phrases hit Position #1, more than doubling traffic, and topping $100/day. About a month later they put the site on Flippa, showing a $115/day earnings, and getting $32,500 for the site.

As part of the sale, they agreed to continue on ‘managing’ the site – agreeing to write 2 articles per week, and doing an hour or two of backlinking per week – in return for 25% of the revenue above what it was at sale time. This also let us continue tracking site performance.

At 5 months, there were multiple Position #1 keyword phrases, and many of them had spots #1 & #2 or #2 and #3 indented double-listings. The site hit $300/day right about at 6 months. Two months later, it hit a high of $415/day.

Needless to say, not all of your sites will perform that well – all of ours don’t perform that well either. But it shows what happens when you ‘hit’ on all cylinders: good niche selection yielding high-volume, under-leveraged keyword phrases, a ‘smart’ content & backlinking campaign, ramping up over time but not too fast or hard, and a layout that converts well.

That is the crux of the “Adsense $100k Blueprint” , and while they all get some ‘duds’ even when everything checks out, this plan insures reliably repeatable successes.

Protect Your Blog from being Hacked

You know how it feels…you’ve been writing a blog post every day for the past 2 years now, and you recently checked your dashboard to see that you already have over 600 posts; 600 posts that took an average of an hour to write, proofread and edit, format with images, and publish and share.

You’ve also noticed that you have a little over 10,000 comments; that’s at least 10,000 minutes of yours and you readers’ time, cumulated over the span of several years.

The above scenario seems cool, until something really strange happened.

You no longer own the 600 posts, and the 10,000 comments, and any other part of your blog. It would have been good news if you just sold your blog for five figures, but in this case, it was stolen from you; yes, a malicious hacker just got into your website, and is ready to rip it apart. As if the pain isn’t enough, the hacker that hijacked your blog will probably redirect your blog to an illegal website, or turn it into a website filled with adult content.

A lot of us are sad at every instance of a particular website being hacked, when we are really doing nothing to protect ours. Here are 6 ways to protect, and save yourself in the case that hackers are targeting your website.

1. Have Strong Passwords, and Change them Regularly

The first step you should take to protect your blog from being hacked is to have a password that is very strong. You’ll be surprised at how simple the password some people use is, and they end up complaining when they’re hacked.

Make sure your password doesn’t contain your name, address, or even date of birth. Use something nobody can ever associate with you, and don’t ever talk about your password to anybody. Also make sure you change your password regularly; like every 3-6 months, and you will be able to protect yourself from being trailed by a hacker.

2. Have More than One Admin Account

It could be 3 or more, and it could be only two. It is very important not to have just one admin account. The reason for this is that the first thing an hacker will do once they hack your blog is to change your details, and you can protect yourself by taking control through your other admin account.

Another thing you should realize is that this technique is just as dangerous as it is helpful, so make sure you prepare yourself for this; the more admin accounts you have on your blog, the more routes an hacker can take to get to you. To protect yourself from this, make sure the username and passwords for all your admin accounts are so unique and different, so that it will be difficult for any hacker to take control upon getting to your blog.

3. Install Plugin that Monitors Your Files and Notify You of Changes Immediately

You can also tell your hosting to help you configure your server to notify you in case there is any change in any of your files at any time, or you can look for a plugin that makes this easy.

A lot of little changes happen to our blog every day, but the reality is that some of them shouldn’t be. It is important for you to make sure you don’t come to know about any of these changes lately, so make sure you regularly monitor your sever and wordpress installation for any changes.

4. Scan Every Theme and Plugin You Want to Install

This is especially important if you download your themes and plugins from other websites online, or if you’re using cracked plugins and themes. You never know when a sleazy programmer will put a little code in your theme or plugin, or when that cracked software you’re downloading will be virus infected.

Don‘t just wait to get hacked before you realize this, so make sure you scan every theme and plugin you want to install on a regular basis; scan them with your own antivirus before you install them.

5. Back up Your Blog Regularly

Don’t ever miss a day, because you never know when your blog will be hacked. One thing I have noticed in the hacking world is that, no matter how secure, there is nothing that cannot be hacked. Of course, you can invest time and effort into making your blog very secure, and you can even hire an expert to take care of this aspect. But the reality is, if a group of hackers dedicate their efforts to bring down your blog, it will only last a few hours at best.

The best thing to do in a situation like this is to back up your blog regularly. Have at least 2 plugins/software that backs up your entire blog, and make sure you check regularly to ensure your files are properly backed up.

6. Use Different Passwords for Every Aspect of Your Website

For every webmaster you can have up to 3 different username and passwords for your hosting, and these 3 passwords can make it easy for you to recover your website in the case that you’re hacked.

The first password is for your hosting account; where you can see tickets, pay for hosting, and change your Cpanel details.
The second password is for your Cpanel; where you can access various parts of your website and make changes directly to your blog.
The third password is for your wordpress installation in itself; where you can add new posts, reply to comments, create new accounts, and update your blog directly.

The deadliest mistake any blogger can make is to make all 3 passwords the same, and you can protect yourself to an extent by making these passwords different.

You should also make sure all 3 usernames are different, and try getting your web host to help you change your details from the default one to something more secure.

3. StumbleUpon Ads: StumbleUpon is a very innovative social bookmarking site that allows users to discover great websites by using a browser toolbar. When the user clicks on “Stumble” he will be delivered a website that people with similar interested rated positively. StumbleUpon also offers advertising campaigns, called StumbleUpon Ads, where you can deliver your website directly to those “Stumblers”. 6 YouTube SEO Tips You Dont Know

We often forget that YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. Being a site that hosts videos, we tend to miss the fact that a lot of people also use YouTube as a search engine to find what they want and need. These are the people who like to consume content in the form of video and are usually more qualified buyers and subscribers than the visitors from search engines.

A few years back, if you posted a video on YouTube with the relevant keyword in the title, it would rank in the top 10 results easily. But nowadays there are so many videos being uploaded in YouTube that YouTube SEO has become as important as website SEO. As an added bonus, one can optimize their YouTube videos and move their rankings up in YouTube search result pages just like in Google search results.

Many marketers have talked about YouTube SEO so I will start with the most elusive concepts first and then I will cover the frequently talked about tips as well.

1. Closed Captions

While watching YouTube videos you would have noticed a button ‘CC’ in the bottom right corner. CC stands for closed captions. YouTube is becoming global now and videos created in India are being watched and shared by people in US; videos from Europe are reaching people in Sri Lanka and so on. Captions not only enable more people to consume your video but YouTube also crawls the content in the captions! This has been proved by many experiments where we include a unique text string inside the captions file and when that string is searched on Google or YouTube the video will come up!

Earlier it used to be a complicated process to add CC to a video – one would need to specify the start and end time of each line and it would take hours. But recently YouTube introduced a speech recognition technology/feature which automatically detects the start and end of each line spoken and matches it to the video’s audio. So all you need to do is upload the script of the video and the captions will appear exactly in sync with the video. It is amazing how YouTube does this – but it is also the reason they are the No.1 in this market.

So a video on a topic with CC should definitely outrank the video on the same topic with no CC provided other SEO factors have also been taken care of.

2. Adding the Script in the Description

If you are creating the script for the speech in video, then adding the same script in the description of the video shouldn’t take much time. Google indexes this as well.

3. Naming the Video File with Keywords

If you are uploading a video about the ‘Health Benefits of Organic Foods’ then the file name of the video should be something like organic-food-benefits.avi or something similar. MOV0234.AVI is not going to be meaningful. The viewer of the video does not look at this but YouTube gives a relevancy credit to the file name because if your file name is named with your keyword then there is a better chance that your video is about what it says.

4. Create a More Engaging Video

This probably sounds straight forward and simple and you may even be tempted to skip this paragrapgh – BUT WAIT. I am about to say something which will blow you away.

YouTube gives relevancy credits to videos where people watch it for a longer time. This is not just a theory but has been tested by us. We uploaded two videos with almost the same SEO factors built in but the only change was the perception by the real human visitor. One video was engaging and the other video was not engaging to the real humans. 6 months later the more engaging video was ranking much better than the other video. So yes, YouTube gives credit to videos which are more engaging because it is a good way to measure the quality of the video.

For the purposes of guarding my niche from competition, I cannot reveal the videos I tested – so if you have a hard time trusting me, you can ignore this fact at your own risk.

5. Authoritative YouTube Channel

If you are posting a video on a fresh YouTube channel it is not going to have as much SEO power as the same video uploaded on a channel with has a lot of other good videos on the same topic. This is similar to website SEO – Posting an article in a fresh blog vs. posting an article in a high PR established blog makes a difference between heaven and hell.

Not only the video would get better rankings, but it will grow faster when the subscribers of that YouTube channel like, comment and share that video.

So always try to have established youtube channels for each of your niche and avoid posting videos on fresh channels. Also avoid posting irrelevant videos in the channels – it may dilute the SEO power of all the other videos on that channel.

6. Posting HD Videos Instead of SD

It is astonishing how many marketers do not even mention about uploading HD videos. Again this has been tested by us in several occasions. HD videos out-rank standard definition videos every time.

You may think that YouTube may not prefer HD videos because it costs them a lot of storage space and bandwidth – but they have more resources that you can imagine. The reason why they limit the length of the videos is not because of lack of storage or bandwidth but to prevent people from uploading copyrighted videos. This has been confirmed by YouTube itself.

It makes sense that a HD video should be better than a standard video. If someone is investing the energy and resources in creating a HD video then the content could be equally good.

So try to upload 1080P videos whenever possible and if you are doing screen cast or presentation videos – 720P should do the job.

Some of the other commonly talked about SEO methods are

Having a relevant headline with proper keywords
Putting your link in the description above other content with http://
Including tags from other videos which rank well for the keywords that you are targeting
Giving a call to action at the end of the video for liking your video and/or subscribing to your channel.

OK. Now we upload all of these files and folders in this package to host.

Byethost provided us the tool File Manager for uploading to host. But I think you should use FireFTP - an addon of Firefox, running on Firefox browser. You can download this addon here.

After you install this addon to your Firefox, then click on Webdeveloper/FireFTP for open the new tab FTP. You must creat the new account FTP tab then press OK:

When you login successfully your account, you will see the folder which same the name of your domain. Open this folder you will see the subfolder is htdocs. Because this is the Root Directory, so you do not delete it. You will upload all of folders and files which you edited above on this folder htdocs. Picture below is after you upload all of the folders and files on folder htdocs:

After you upload finished, you should check all of folders and files, may be in upload process some files were not uploaded.

Now you can install your wordpress.

Open your browser, type on address bar: http://www.yourdomain.net.ms/wp-admin/install.php then enter.

After that, the welcome screen of Wordpress will appears:

Click on Frist Step. Then you must choose your title wordpress site and click on Continue to second step. Wordpress will provide the random username and password for your site. Please note or print it carefully. Then click on wp-login.php and enter your username and password you had already and go to your dashboard. You can change password and theme later.

Google AdSense Optimization Tips

1. Don’t Feel Shy – If you are seriously willing to monetize your website with AdSense, make sure that you place advertisements in prominent locations where visitors will notice the ads.

2. The best performing ad units for AdSense are 160×600, 336×280 and 300×250. For text only ads, you should go with the 336×380 format but in all other situations, 300×250 may be a better format since it is most popular among advertisers and also supports rich media. 160×600 can easily fit in the sidebar of your blog.

3. Web visitors have a very short attention span and majority of them may simply leave after a quick glance. Their eyes follow a F pattern so you can get good results if the Google ads are placed in the areas colored red on the heat map. Sidebars and leaderboards at the top are often ignored.

4. Depending upon the layout of your website, you should consider placing the first unit somewhere in the middle of the page and above the fold.

5. Even kids would know that AdSense works best if there are no borders and that the background color of the ads matches with the background of the page. That may not always be true and sometimes colored backgrounds (like light yellow or very light grey) can convert better – look at the top AdWords unit on the Google search page.

6. If you have a website with a dark theme (like a black background), experiment using a contrast color scheme for Google ads.

7. While it is a good idea to use section targeting around the main content, you should skip adding the section targeting tags for the comment section in your blog because the comments may not exactly convey what the page is all about. The aim is to increase the relevance of Google Ads.

8. Site visitors generally look for a search button at the top left region. Use the word “search” in the submit button else some visitors may not notice them. AdSense doesn’t allow publishers to pre-populate search boxes with keywords. Always use a second search box at the bottom of your pages and if possible, host site search on a separate sub-domain (e.g., search.labnol.org/) as regular readers can easily remember that address.

9. I recommend using only text ads for the first Google Ad unit but place another 300×250 unit in the sidebar (or somewhere below the fold) – these generally serve CPM based ads and will therefore help you monetize visits from places like Digg and StumbleUpon even when the bounce rate is very very high.

The CPM of ad units will decrease as you come the page but that may not be the case with link units – they are small, text based, can fit in even small locations and perform brilliant.

10. These are recommended ad placements for a website depending upon the design (two-column or three-column). If you write long articles, try fitting an ad unit somewhere in the middle of the article or at the bottom because when readers are done with reading, they’ll probably look for more resources or related information.

11. Once your new ad placement is live, make sure you test the AdSense layout with help of your grandma or subscribe to a professional mouse tracking service like CrazyEgg to know how people interact / navigate your content.

12. Sometimes traffic flowing in from Image search engines can earn you more AdSense Revenue than regular web traffic. So upload good quality images and use text captions with alt tags to make sure that blog images rank good in Image Search results.

13. Flickr is another great source of traffic (especially from Yahoo!) and you may also use it to indirectly improve your organic rankings.

14. You can also increase relevance of Google Ads on your site by linking to authority websites using descriptive anchor text. This will also help improve your organic ranks since outgoing links and citations carry weight in the eyes of the search engine who may then consider you as an authority for that niche.

15. Look for variations in Google Analytics – AdSense reports. If you are seeing impressions for a page but no CTR or CPM, chances are that the page may be serving PSAs or the ads aren’t relevant enough. You may also use the AdSense Sandbox to figure out if visitors from other countries are unable to see ads on some page that have low (or zero) CPM.

16. Placement targeting is an excellent opportunity for you to market your site to potential AdWords advertisers. Therefore always make it a practice to use descriptive text when describing your AdSense channels.

17. Archives, Tags, Category or Author pages in a blog aren’t good landing pages and are hard to monetize as well. Redirect their Google juice to single post page using NOINDEX, FOLLOW tags.

18. Reward your regular visitors (I call them influences) with ad-free content. AdSense in feeds is not a loved option either so you may have use the feed footer to find spammers & feed scrappers.

19. If you run a multi-author blog, you can very easily implement AdSense Revenue sharing through channels. Assign a separate channel to each other and use that number for his or her blog posts.

20. AdSense Premium sites like CNN, New York Times, About.com, etc. generally have dedicated AdSense account managers to help them optimize their Google ad units. You can study their layouts and probably implement some of the techniques in your own blog(s).

With Google AdSense, one should never feel complacent because there’s always a chance to improve earnings provided you are willing to experiment. The software theory – “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” doesn’t really apply here.

How to Automatically Backup your Files with Dropbox

Dropbox offers 2 GB of free online storage space that you can easily bump up to 3 GB or more with the help of your social networks and by inviting friends who aren’t on Dropbox yet.

This kind of space is not sufficient to backup the entire hard drive1 but enough to save your essential files and folder that you can’t afford to lose. These may include your documents, photographs, source code and other important files.

Using Dropbox for File Backup

Backup with Dropbox is effortless but one big limitation is that your files and folders need to be residing inside the main Dropbox folder before they can be sent to the cloud.

To deal with this problem, we’ll make use of Microsoft SyncToy, a free application that keeps files and folders in sync with each other. You identify all the essential folders that you want to backup and then sync them all with the local Dropbox folder using SyncToy.

Next we’ll use the built-in Task Scheduler in Windows to run SyncToy once per day (or sooner) so that the content of our local Dropbox folder and the source folders are always in sync with each other.

Backup with Dropbox – Step by Step

Now that you have the basic idea, lets see how this can be implemented in in few easy steps (you can also skip straight to the video tutorial).

Step 1. Launch SyncToy and create a new folder pair. For instance, to backup documents, set the “Left Folder” as your My Documents folder and the “Right Folder” as a sub-folder of Dropbox. Set the action as ‘synchronize.’

Step 2. Repeat Step 1 for every folder that you want to back up using Dropbox. If you want to backup all your pictures, just point the left folder to the main ‘My Pictures’ folder or choose individual folders if you don’t have space to backup the entire archive.

Step 3. Enter taskschd.msc in the Windows Run box to start the Task Scheduler or go to Start –> All Programs –> Accessories –> System Tools –> Scheduled Tasks.

Step 4. While you are inside Task Scheduler, create a basic task and give it a name like ‘Dropbox Backup.’ Set the trigger as Daily (run backup once per day) and choose a time when you are less likely to use your workstation.

Step 5. Under Action, choose “Start a Program” and set the program name as SyncToyCmd.exe. For arguments, just say “-R” without quotes and save the task.

That’s it! SyncToy will launch everyday at the set time and will put all the new and updated files into Dropbox. Once there, Dropbox will automatically copy your files to the cloud which you can then access from anywhere from almost any device.

How to Download Flash Files using Browser

Today, Flash is everywhere. Animations, music, games, advertisements or even streaming presentations. Speaking of games, here’s a list of site with the best flash games.

The use of Flash plug-ins in browsers is now almost obligatory. Yes, it’s easy to view and enjoy the rich media content delivered by interactive Flash embedded pages. But what if I want to download some of these files as keepsakes? The greatest benefit ““ I can watch them offline in my own jolly time. Convert them to a format of my choice. Or embed them again in a PowerPoint presentation. Or even transfer them to my mobile phone.

Flash animation files are embedded as SWF (Small Web Format) files in webpages. Rather than depending on any software or a third-party website, downloading Flash content is dead simple. The only tool required is a browser and a bit of patience to do the rummaging around.

Just one note: As we will be heading into the internet cache folders of the respective browsers, it pays to clear it of all old files before navigating to the desired page. It makes the Flash file search a lot easier.

So, here’s how to do it in three of our popular browsers.

Download SWF files using Firefox

1. Fire up Firefox and browse to the page which contains the embedded SWF Flash file that you are eyeing to download. Let the SWF file stream through once completely.

2. On any empty part of the page, right-click and select the Page Info context menu option. Or alternatively, go to Tools Page Info.

Select the Media tab. The Media tab lists all image formats, icons, style sheets and flash files that were rendered by the webpage.

4. Look amongst the items to find the particular file with the SWF extension. The type column will show up with an Embed filetype. Highlight the file and click Save as to save the file on your hard drive.

Download SWF files using Internet Explorer

In IE8, we have to head to the Temporary Internet Files folder which stores all rendered files during a browsing session. (It can be directly accessed from here in Windows XP –C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files.)

1. Go to the IE Menu bar. Click on Tools ““ Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, click on Settings under Browsing History.

3. The Temporary Internet Files and Browsing History box opens up.

4. Click on View Files. You will get all the rendered webpage elements in this folder.

5. To rummage about effectively amidst the mass of files, choose View ““ Arrange by Type from the menu. Also go to Tools ““ Folder Options, and uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types option.

6. Seek out your SWF files, copy and then paste it to your preferred location.

Download SWF files using Opera

In Opera, downloaded SWF files can be accessed in two simple ways:

Type opera:cache in the address bar.

Go to Tools ““ Advanced ““ Cache from the toolbar.

Either way, a huge list of downloaded page elements opens up with their URLs. Search for a file with the .swf extension. Alternatively, you could search (Ctrl+F ) and hunt it down, with swf as the search query.

Right-click on the particular file and choose either Saved Linked Content As or Save to Download Folder to save the SWF file on the hard disk.

After downloading the SWF file, one can use the Adobe Flash Player to view the Flash file or a supported media player like Media Player Classic. Or, an easier way would be to just open it in a browser by right-clicking it and selecting the browser of choice.

These are the ways we can use to single out the Flash files from a webpage. In my experience, I personally have been more comfortable with Firefox than the other two. I am still searching a way perform this in Chrome but it is proving impossible without third-party support. Numerous third-party tools can do the same job better by converting it to a format of your choice. But it always pays to know that you can fall back on a browser alone.

10 Tips To Promote Your Blog With Email Marketing

Email marketing is not the exclusive territory of the electronics superstores or the vitamin purveyors, and bloggers can leverage email newsletters to build their audiences by using many of the same tactics and techniques mastered by the major etailers.

But if you’ve got a great blog and you’re at a loss on how to promote it via email marketing, you’re not alone. Here are the top 10 tips to efficiently promote your blog through the remarkable power and efficiency of email marketing.

1. Get permission – It’s not sufficient to capture email addresses here, there, and everywhere to slam onto your subscription list. You either have received formal double opt-in archived permission from your subscriber or you’re spamming. It’s that simple.

2. Set expectations – You have to be very clear as to what type of content your newsletter will contain and how often they will receive it. If they’re expecting a monthly newsletter on your pet supply blog and instead they end up getting daily emailed exhortations to buy antidepressant pharmaceuticals, you’re on the fast track to spam reports and blacklists.

3. Be consistent – Take your time to come up with a coherent identity for your email newsletters which matches your blog. It’s not enough to simply copy over the logo, but everything should be synchronous: from the color scheme of the layout to the writing style of the email copy.

4. You can separate subcategories by behavior, geography, demographics, or any other bit of information you can gather about your subscribers, then custom-tailor the content to fit. If you’re sending the same newsletter to your entire list you’re applying a transparently generic strategy that is essentially counter-productive.

10. Ask for feedback – Be open to both positive and negative comments as you solicit every form of feedback your subscriber base will provide. Learn from each and every comment and use the feedback to fine tune your marketing efforts.

2. Create a freebie to encourage people to subscribe

People care about their privacy and about their time, and they sure won’t give your their email addresses just for the sake of it. That something can be many different things. For instance, it could be an ebook, audio interviews, software, a template, a tutorial, so on and so forth.

3. Place the subscription forms on your website

4. Write some follow-up messages

I recommend you to set one welcome message to go out right after the person signs-up (you can use this message to deliver the download link of the freebie as well), and then another message going out 2 or 3 days later.

After that you can send weekly or biweekly messages, alternating two or three messages of useful content with one message promoting one of your products or an affiliate offer.
