After settings  the timestamp to -100000000 it changes the timezone.

ini_set(&#39;date.timezone&#39;, &#39;UTC&#39;);

$date = new Zend_Date();
$date-&gt;setTimezone(&#39;Europe/Berlin&#39;);
$date-&gt;set(-100000000); So you will receive:
