There is a strange kind of restraint required to walk past the regular 911 GT3, with its sizeable rear wing and swan neck mounts, and instead sign the paperwork on the Touring. On paper it looks like the sensible choice. In reality, sensible has very little to do with it.

We recently spent time in the latest 992.2 generation Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package, specified with the seven speed PDK transmission, and came away with a newfound respect for a car that trades a giant rear wing for a retractable spoiler and, somehow, loses none of the drama in the process.

What Exactly Is The GT3 Touring?

The GT3 Touring has been part of the 911 range since the 991 generation, originally offered only with a six speed manual gearbox as the so called ‘spiritual successor’ to the old 911 R. That six speed manual is still standard fitment, but for the 992.2 update Porsche now offers the same seven speed PDK dual clutch gearbox found in the winged GT3 as a no cost option, which is the configuration we spent our time with.

Strip away the fixed wing, swap in the retractable spoiler and you have a car that looks, at a glance, closer to a well sorted Carrera than a race car with a number plate. It is a clever disguise, because underneath the subtler bodywork sits exactly the same hardware as the regular GT3.

Power, Torque And The PDK Advantage

The heart of the matter is a 4.0 litre naturally aspirated flat six that revs to a sensationally thrilling 9,000 rpm redline, sending 375 kW (503 hp) to the rear wheels alone. Torque stands at 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), down 20Nm compared to the outgoing pre-facelift car due to tighter emissions regulations that now require two particulate filters and four catalytic converters. Porsche has compensated with upgraded camshafts borrowed from the previous GT3 RS, revised cylinder heads and improved oil cooling, along with a final drive ratio that is 8% shorter than before.

With the PDK gearbox fitted, Porsche quotes 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 313 km/h (194 mph) for the Touring specification. The dual clutch transmission is the party trick here. Even pottering around at suburban pace, upshifts arrive with a satisfying pop from the twin tailpipes, and the harder you lean into the throttle, the louder and more theatrical those shifts become. It is the kind of gearbox that actively encourages bad behaviour.

Weight has also been trimmed through lightweight aluminium wheels and a new lithium ion battery. Choosing the manual instead saves a further 17kg, and for those chasing every last kilogram, you can opt for the Lightweight Package to save a further 22kg for an extra R900,000.

Living With It On The Road

The GT3 Touring delivers every bit of the drama of the winged car, just with less attention drawn to it. Fire it up using the physical turn key switch and you are greeted with a gruff bark from the exhaust, followed by the clunks and vibrations typical of a car built around motorsport componentry rather than everyday comfort.

The ride is firm but not punishing on smooth tarmac, and Porsche’s updated damper tuning, borrowed in part from the 911 S/T, has done a reasonable job of keeping things liveable at a cruise. Push on though, particularly on patchy surfaces, and the GT3 Touring can become a genuine workout which for drivers is known as fun. The theatre is there with plenty of road noise, tyre roar and a persistent whine from the differential making themselves known.

Turn into a corner and all of that firmness pays off. Body roll is essentially absent, the steering communicates phenomenally and grip levels are superb. The brake pedal is firm and requires a deliberate push, but stopping power is never in question. This is, without exaggeration, one of the most engaging naturally aspirated sports cars currently on sale, PDK or not.

Interior

Porsche has kept cabin changes minimal, the biggest being the switch to a fully digital instrument cluster in place of the previous car’s part analogue setup, a change some purists will mourn. Rear seats are now available as a genuine no cost option on the Touring, useful for short trips with small children, though the second row remains tiny by any real world measure.

There is minimal storage but that shows the priorities most clearly. The cupholder situation is not ideal, having moved from the dashboard to a fixed unit in the centre console that tends to sit right where your arm wants to rest. None of this amounts to a dealbreaker, and nobody buying a GT3 Touring is expecting decent amount of storage, but it is a clear reminder that comfort and everyday usability were never the primary brief here, even in the more road focused Touring specification.

On the practicality side, the frunk remains usefully sized for a weekend bag, and unlike the more hardcore GT3 RS, the GT3 Touring retains its rear seats and a reasonably sized ‘boot’, meaning a school run or airport drop off is entirely possible.

What About The Manual?

We did not test the six speed manual for this review, but it is worth noting that it remains the standard transmission on the GT3 Touring, with the PDK offered as a no cost upgrade. Reviewers who have driven the manual describe a mechanical connection to the powertrain that the PDK simply cannot replicate, along with a genuinely short, precise shift action courtesy of the optional Leichtbau package’s stubby short shifter. The trade off is a 0.5 second slower 0 to 100 km/h sprint, though the manual actually claims a marginally higher top speed than the PDK. For buyers who want to do their own rev matching and extract every ounce of driver involvement, the manual remains the purist’s choice, even as the PDK closes the gap on outright pace.

Pricing And Availability In South Africa

Locally, the Porsche 911 GT3 with Touring Package currently starts from R4,795,000, based on the standard five year DrivePlan, with no price difference between the manual and PDK gearboxes. That is before options, and GT3 buyers are notorious for ticking plenty of boxes. Some of the bigger ticket items include the Lightweight package we mentioned, the choice of a R760,000 Sonderwunsch Paint to Sample Plus or the R280,000 option to add the mighty impressive Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.

Verdict

The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring in PDK guise proves that losing the wing costs you nothing in character. It is every bit as raw, focused and occasionally impractical like the regular GT3, just with a lower profile and, for buyers who want blistering pace without a manual gearbox to manage in traffic, a genuinely compelling case over the six speed alternative.

This is not a car that rewards being driven gently, and those who buy one hoping for a slightly calmer GT3 experience for daily commuting will likely find themselves frustrated by the noise, the ride and the general sense that the car is happiest being worked hard. It is not a daily driver in any conventional sense, no matter how usable the frunk or rear seats might be.

If you want a weekend weapon that also happens to be road legal, and one that can be driven to a track day, used hard, and driven home again without complaint, few cars currently on sale come close.

The Porsche 911 Slantnose could be heading back into the regular model range, with a senior Porsche executive confirming that ideas born through the brand’s Sonderwunsch programme can eventually find their way into series-production cars.

That does not mean a new Flachbau has officially been signed off. However, Porsche has followed this exact path before, including with the original Slantnose itself.

Porsche Sonderwunsch Could Inspire A New Slantnose 911

Porsche recently revealed the spectacular one-off 911 Flachbau RS, created through its Sonderwunsch personalisation programme and based on a 991-generation GT2 RS.

While the car was commissioned as a unique creation and is not destined for production, Porsche Vice President of Product and Individualisation Alexander Fabig has suggested that elements from projects like this can influence future production models.

Speaking during Monterey Car Week, Fabig explained that one of the purposes of Sonderwunsch has always been to provide inspiration for Porsche’s wider product portfolio.

Over the decades, several ideas originally requested by individual customers have gradually evolved into Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options before, in some cases, becoming regular factory features or even complete production models.

That leaves the door open for the Flachbau treatment to follow a similar route.

The Original Porsche 911 Slantnose Followed The Same Path

There’s some compelling history behind the possibility.

The road-going Slantnose can trace its roots back to a unique Porsche commissioned by TAG owner Mansour Ojjeh. His extraordinary 935 Street was created through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch programme and delivered in 1983.

Interest in its distinctive flattened front end proved strong enough for Porsche to make the treatment available to other customers.

The factory ultimately produced 948 Slantnose-equipped cars during the 1980s, turning what began as a bespoke customer request into one of the most recognisable versions of the classic 911 Turbo.

Sonderwunsch Ideas Have Reached Production Before

The Slantnose isn’t the only example of Porsche turning individual customer requests into something much bigger.

Fabig pointed towards Porsche’s X50 and X51 power upgrades as examples of features that evolved from individual customer requests into factory options.

That development process ultimately contributed towards the creation of the 911 Turbo S.

It’s an important precedent. Porsche doesn’t necessarily need to reproduce the Flachbau RS exactly as it stands today. Instead, its design language or individual components could be reinterpreted for a limited-production model, an Exclusive Manufaktur option or even a regular 911 derivative.

Custom Porsche paint colours already follow a loosely similar philosophy. Certain specially developed colours remain exclusive to the commissioning customer for a defined period before Porsche can make them available more widely, helping recover some of the development costs involved.

The One-Off Flachbau RS Packs GT2 RS Power

The modern Flachbau RS is considerably more than a styling exercise.

Underneath sits the hardware of the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, meaning there’s a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 700 hp (522 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

A future production Slantnose wouldn’t necessarily use the same drivetrain.

Porsche already has something even more powerful in the current 911 range, with the latest Turbo S producing 701 hp (523 kW) through its electrified T-Hybrid powertrain.

Whatever eventually wears the Slantnose name, outright performance is unlikely to be a concern.

Is A New Porsche 911 Slantnose Actually Coming?

For now, Porsche hasn’t confirmed a production Flachbau or Slantnose.

What it has confirmed is arguably more interesting: Sonderwunsch creations aren’t necessarily isolated design exercises with nowhere else to go.

Porsche has a long history of taking ideas developed for individual customers and introducing them to a wider audience. The original Slantnose is one of the best examples of exactly that process.

Considering Porsche has now built a modern Flachbau RS and openly acknowledged that elements from bespoke projects can migrate into production, the possibility of a factory-built modern Slantnose suddenly doesn’t seem particularly far-fetched.

And judging by the attention surrounding the latest one-off, finding customers probably wouldn’t be difficult.

Porsche has made it clear that the manual gearbox isn’t disappearing from the 911 without a fight. The return of a three-pedal option to the 2027 Carrera S is already good news for enthusiasts, but the bigger question surrounds the hybrid Carrera GTS.

The 992.2 Carrera GTS introduced Porsche’s new T-Hybrid powertrain, bringing electrification to the 911 for the first time. While the technology delivers a serious performance boost, it has also created a fairly substantial problem: the current hybrid system simply doesn’t work with a conventional manual transmission.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Porsche has given up on the idea.

Porsche 911 GTS Hybrid And Manual Gearbox Don’t Currently Mix

Speaking during Monterey Car Week, Porsche Cars North America CEO Timo Resch confirmed to The Drive that the existing T-Hybrid setup and a manual transmission are technically incompatible.

The problem lies in the way Porsche has integrated the electric components into the drivetrain. The Carrera GTS uses an electrically assisted turbocharger alongside an electric motor incorporated into its eight-speed PDK transmission, making the gearbox a fundamental part of the hybrid system rather than something that can simply be swapped out.

As a result, Porsche can’t just take an existing manual gearbox from another 911 and bolt it into the GTS.

That sounds fairly definitive, but Resch left the door noticeably open.

He suggested that Porsche’s engineers in Weissach are constantly exploring new ideas and said he wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually developed a solution. Importantly, he also indicated that any future setup would probably look quite different from the hybrid arrangement currently used in the GTS.

A Manual Porsche 911 GTS Could Require Major Engineering Changes

If Porsche genuinely wants to combine the GTS hybrid system with a manual gearbox, the project could involve far more than developing another transmission.

Porsche reportedly needs roughly a year to introduce a production change even when the required components already exist. Creating an entirely new drivetrain solution would naturally require considerably more development work.

That raises an interesting possibility.

Rather than simply modifying the existing T-Hybrid system, Porsche could be investigating a different electrified drivetrain architecture capable of working alongside a clutch pedal and manually operated gearbox.

Whether that solution would retain the current transmission-mounted electric motor, use a different type of hybrid assistance or introduce an entirely new arrangement remains unknown.

Don’t Expect A Manual Hybrid 911 GTS Anytime Soon

Even if development is underway, a manual Carrera GTS probably isn’t around the corner.

One possibility is that Porsche introduces the technology towards the end of the 992.2 generation, potentially in a limited-production or enthusiast-focused model. Alternatively, the manufacturer could wait until the next-generation 911 arrives and design its hybrid architecture around both manual and automatic transmissions from the outset.

The 992 generation has already enjoyed a lengthy production cycle, and Porsche could keep the current platform around longer than originally expected.

That would give the engineers in Weissach additional time to figure out how to combine electrification with the mechanical involvement that continues to make manual 911s so desirable.

Porsche Says Manual 911s Will Continue Into The Next Decade

More encouragingly, Porsche isn’t treating the manual transmission as something approaching an immediate expiry date.

Resch confirmed that the company intends to continue offering manual gearboxes for as long as regulations permit and, crucially, for as long as customers keep ordering them.

According to the Porsche executive, the company expects demand for manual transmissions to continue well into the next decade.

That could be particularly significant for the future of the 911. If Porsche believes customers will still be buying manual sports cars during the 2030s, its next-generation flagship sports car will presumably need to accommodate one in some form.

Exactly how Porsche achieves that while introducing increasing levels of electrification remains the difficult part.

For now, the manual hybrid 911 GTS remains more engineering challenge than confirmed production model. Still, Porsche clearly hasn’t dismissed the idea, and considering the lengths the company has gone to preserve the manual gearbox elsewhere in the 911 range, we wouldn’t rule it out.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is making way for something rather more familiar. From 2027, Porsche’s entry point into customer racing will be the new 911 Challenge, a competition car heavily influenced by the road-going 911 GT3.

Its arrival also marks another consequence of 718 Cayman production coming to an end. For drivers looking to enter Porsche’s one-make racing ladder, the starting point will now be a 911.

Porsche 911 Challenge Keeps Plenty From The GT3

Rather than developing an entirely bespoke machine, Porsche has deliberately retained a significant amount of production-car hardware. That should help keep costs under control while making the transition from road car to racing car less intimidating.

Power comes from a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six producing 508 hp (379 kW). It is paired with the familiar seven-speed PDK transmission.

The Challenge also retains ABS, traction control and electronic stability control, along with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+), which can be adjusted through multiple stages.

According to Michael Dreiser, Head of Sales at Porsche Motorsport, the idea is to bring the experience of the road-legal GT3 into customer racing more directly. Drivers should therefore be able to adapt to the car without facing the steep learning curve normally associated with a purpose-built racer.

Proper Race Car Hardware Where It Matters

While the mechanical connection to the GT3 is obvious, there is no mistaking the 911 Challenge for a lightly modified road car once you climb inside.

The cabin is stripped of unnecessary trim, carpeting and sound insulation, while a welded roll cage forms the backbone of the safety package. Drivers are held in place by an adjustable racing bucket seat and six-point harness.

Underneath, Porsche has fitted a three-stage adjustable anti-roll bar and motorsport-specific damper calibration. Braking is handled by new 380 mm steel discs at both ends, while five-hole 18-inch racing wheels are wrapped in slick tyres.

It is a combination that should make the Challenge considerably more focused than the standard GT3 despite sharing much of its DNA.

Flat-Six Revs To 9,000 RPM

One area where Porsche has made few compromises is the engine.

The naturally aspirated flat-six will spin all the way to 9,000 rpm, while the competition exhaust system does without the particulate filter required by the road car. That should ensure the 911 Challenge sounds every bit like a proper Porsche race car.

A 110-litre FT3 fuel tank is fitted for competition use, along with an integrated air-jack system to speed up work in the pits.

Porsche is equally clear about its intended purpose. The 911 Challenge has been developed exclusively for competition and carries no road approval.

There are still a few concessions to usability. The steering wheel is borrowed from the 911 GT3 RS, giving drivers access to additional controls without taking their hands off the wheel, while air conditioning can also be retained.

Porsche Expands Its 911 Customer Racing Line-Up

Porsche Motorsport vice president Thomas Laudenbach sees the new model as another extension of the relationship between the GT3 road cars and the company’s motorsport programme.

That connection has existed for decades, with development of Porsche’s GT models closely linked to lessons learned on track. The 911 Challenge takes the philosophy a step further by creating a relatively accessible route into racing using a platform customers already know.

For the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB in particular, it represents a significant change. The mid-engined Cayman has long provided the first rung of the ladder, but from 2027 that role belongs to the rear-engined 911.

The new Porsche 911 Challenge will become available to order from September 2026.

Mercedes-Benz’s first serious push into electric cars didn’t exactly go to plan. Models such as the EQS and EQE struggled to win over buyers, while the unusual styling and detached driving experience of the early EQ range left plenty of traditional Mercedes customers unconvinced.

The German manufacturer appears to have taken those lessons on board. Its latest generation of electric cars is taking a very different approach, and early signs suggest the strategy is working.

Mercedes’ New EV Strategy Is Starting To Pay Off

Rather than building electric cars that look and feel completely separate from the rest of its range, Mercedes is bringing its combustion and electric models much closer together.

The latest CLA has already picked up major recognition in Europe, while early impressions of the new GLB and GLC have generally been positive. An electric C-Class is also on the way as Mercedes continues expanding its next-generation EV portfolio.

Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius recently acknowledged that convincing committed combustion-engine enthusiasts to embrace electric power won’t happen overnight. His argument, however, is that the cars themselves will eventually do much of the convincing.

And one AMG in particular seems to have convinced him.

The Electric AMG CLA 45 Apparently Feels Like A V8

Källenius has been particularly enthusiastic about the new electric Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, going as far as comparing its character to that of a V8-powered performance car while talking to Autocar.

After driving it, the Mercedes boss described the experience as having the sensation of a V8 but with even greater power and torque.

That is quite a statement considering AMG’s history with some truly spectacular V8 engines.

The new CLA 45 certainly isn’t short on firepower. Its electric powertrain produces 671 hp (500 kW), representing a huge jump over the previous combustion-powered CLA 45, which produced 416 hp (310 kW).

As we covered when the car was revealed, the new electric AMG also promises performance figures that move the CLA into an entirely different league.

Why Mercedes Wants Its EVs To Feel Familiar

The point isn’t that an electric motor can genuinely replicate a V8 engine. Instead, Mercedes appears determined to make sure its future EVs still deliver the kind of emotional experience customers associate with the brand.

That was arguably missing from some of the company’s earlier electric products.

Power alone isn’t enough. Performance Mercedes models have traditionally combined speed with sound, response, character and a sense of occasion. Removing the combustion engine means AMG has to find new ways of delivering those qualities without making the experience feel artificial or completely disconnected from what came before.

The CLA 45 could therefore be an important test of whether AMG can successfully transfer its identity into the electric era.

Mercedes Isn’t Giving Up On Combustion Engines

Importantly, Mercedes-Benz is no longer treating electric vehicles as the only possible future.

The company previously targeted an all-electric future by 2030 in markets where conditions allowed, but its strategy has since become considerably more flexible. Combustion engines are expected to remain part of the Mercedes portfolio for years to come.

That gives customers a choice while allowing Mercedes to adapt to very different market conditions around the world.

It also removes some of the pressure to force customers into EVs before they are ready. Instead, the company can concentrate on making its electric products desirable enough that buyers actually want to make the switch.

The new CLA 45 might be one of the first serious examples of that philosophy. Whether a lifelong AMG V8 enthusiast will agree with Källenius’ assessment is another question entirely.

Lamborghini is watching the rapid rise of China’s high-performance car industry, but it isn’t losing any sleep over it.

Brands such as Denza and YangWang are producing electric machines with enormous power figures and increasingly serious performance credentials. Despite that, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann believes these newcomers are playing a very different game to the one being played in Sant’Agata.

Lamborghini Doesn’t See Chinese EVs As A Threat

Speaking to Autocar at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Winkelmann was asked about the growing number of Chinese manufacturers entering supercar territory.

One of the most striking examples at Goodwood was the Denza Z, a fully electric supercar claimed to produce 1,583 hp (1,180 kW). Its projected performance is equally extreme, with 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) expected to take less than two seconds and a potential top speed of around 349 km/h (217 mph).

On paper, those numbers comfortably place it among the fastest road cars on the planet.

Winkelmann, however, doesn’t believe outright numbers tell the whole story. He said Lamborghini currently doesn’t regard Chinese manufacturers as direct competitors, largely because their flagship performance cars are predominantly electric.

That distinction matters because Lamborghini has deliberately decided not to rush into the fully electric supercar market.

Lamborghini Believes Emotion Still Matters

While Winkelmann acknowledged the impressive software found in many Chinese vehicles, Lamborghini believes its advantage lies elsewhere.

Performance is obviously part of the equation, but so too are sound, character and the emotional connection created by a combustion engine.

That philosophy can be seen clearly in the latest Lamborghini Revuelto SV, which combines a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 with three electric motors to produce 1,050 hp (783 kW).

Rather than replacing the combustion engine, Lamborghini is currently using electrification to enhance it.

The strategy extends across the wider range, with the company having now electrified each of its core models while retaining combustion power.

First Electric Lamborghini Delayed Beyond 2030

Lamborghini had originally intended to introduce its first fully electric production model much sooner, but those plans have changed.

The company has pushed its first EV beyond 2030, citing both customer demand and the current limitations of battery technology.

Lamborghini’s position is straightforward. If it eventually produces a fully electric model, it needs to deliver something genuinely exceptional rather than simply existing because regulations or market trends demand it.

Product director Stefano Cossalter has previously indicated that an electric Lamborghini would need to be a benchmark product from a performance perspective before the company would be comfortable putting its badge on it.

The decision also appears to have been well received by Lamborghini customers.

Plug-In Hybrids Are The Priority

Instead of moving directly from combustion engines to battery-electric cars, Lamborghini intends to continue developing plug-in hybrid technology.

That gives engineers access to the instant response and additional performance of electric motors without sacrificing the noise and theatre traditionally associated with the brand.

Most importantly, it gives Lamborghini an opportunity to keep its naturally aspirated V12 alive.

The engine remains one of the company’s biggest differentiators at a time when many manufacturers are downsizing engines or abandoning them completely.

It also explains why Lamborghini’s upcoming fourth model has changed direction. The production model inspired by the Lanzador concept was initially destined to become a fully electric car, but plans have shifted towards plug-in hybrid power.

Chinese Supercars Could Still Become Rivals

Lamborghini isn’t dismissing China’s car industry altogether.

Chinese manufacturers have demonstrated how quickly they can develop new technologies, improve quality and push performance boundaries. The enormous resources being invested into batteries, electric motors and vehicle software mean today’s competitive landscape could look very different within a few years.

Winkelmann acknowledged that possibility, effectively leaving the door open to Chinese brands becoming genuine Lamborghini rivals in the future.

For now, though, Lamborghini appears comfortable sticking to its own formula.

Rather than chasing four-figure electric power outputs simply for the sake of producing bigger numbers, the Italian manufacturer is betting that customers will continue to value sound, emotion, heritage and combustion engines alongside outright performance.

Considering Lamborghini is still finding ways to extract more performance from its V12 hybrid platform, including the record-breaking Revuelto SV at Hockenheim, the combustion era in Sant’Agata certainly isn’t finished yet.

Insurance companies play an important role after a crash, but their goals may not always match yours. Many people believe that a case involving a drunk driver will be settled quickly because the facts seem obvious. That is not always how the process works.

Even with strong evidence, insurers often review every detail before agreeing to pay compensation. Their approach can influence how much you receive and how long the claim takes. Knowing how these companies handle cases helps you make informed decisions and avoid mistakes that could affect your drunk driving accident claim. Understanding the claims process and preparing for potential challenges can strengthen your position and improve your chances of recovering fair compensation for your losses.

Why Fault Doesn’t Always Mean a Quick Settlement

A driver arrested for driving under the influence has clearly broken the law, but that alone does not guarantee a fast insurance payout. Insurance companies still conduct their own investigations before making decisions. Their goal is to confirm what happened and determine how much they believe they should pay.

During this process, they may review:

Police reports

Medical records

Photos and videos from the crash scene

Witness statements

Vehicle damage reports

Insurance policy details

They also look closely at your injuries and financial losses. Even if fault seems clear, the insurer may question the cost of medical treatment or whether all injuries resulted from the accident. This is why collecting strong evidence from the beginning is so important. Good documentation helps support your case and reduces the chance of unnecessary disputes later.

Common Insurance Tactics That Can Affect Your Claim

Insurance companies are businesses, and every claim affects their costs. Some use strategies that can reduce the amount they pay or slow the process. Knowing these tactics can help you respond more carefully.

Offering a Fast Settlement Before You Know the Full Cost

A quick settlement offer may seem like good news, especially if medical bills are already adding up. However, accepting an early payment can be risky.

Some injuries become worse over time or require additional treatment that is not obvious right away. If you accept a settlement too soon, you may not be able to request more money later for future medical care or lost income.

Before agreeing to any offer, make sure you understand the full impact of your injuries and expenses.

Requesting Unnecessary Statements or Documents

Insurance adjusters often ask for recorded statements or extra paperwork. While some information is necessary, not every request benefits your case.

A simple misunderstanding or unclear answer could later be used to question your version of events. It is usually better to provide accurate facts supported by documents rather than guessing or giving unnecessary details.

Keep copies of everything you submit so you always know what information has been shared.

Questioning the Severity of Injuries

Another common tactic is suggesting that injuries are not as serious as claimed. An insurer may argue that a condition existed before the accident or that treatment lasted longer than necessary.

Consistent medical care helps protect against these arguments. Follow your doctor’s advice, attend appointments, and save every medical record and receipt. These documents create a clear timeline that supports your recovery.

Delaying the Claims Process

Delays can be frustrating and financially stressful. Insurance companies may request additional documents, repeat questions, or take extra time to review reports.

Long delays sometimes place pressure on injured people who need money for treatment or everyday expenses. That pressure can lead someone to accept a lower settlement simply to move forward.

Patience and proper records often make it easier to respond to delays without weakening your position.

Practical Ways to Protect Your Rights

There are several simple steps you can take to strengthen your case and reduce problems during the insurance process.

Helpful actions include:

Get medical care as soon as possible.

Keep every medical bill and treatment record.

Save repair estimates and vehicle damage photos.

Request a copy of the police report.

Take pictures and videos of the accident scene if it is safe.

Keep a journal describing your pain and recovery.

Avoid discussing the accident on social media.

Save emails, letters, and notes from conversations with the insurance company.

Review settlement offers carefully before signing any documents.

These steps create a stronger record of what happened and help prevent important details from being overlooked.

Why Legal Guidance Can Level the Playing Field

Insurance companies handle claims every day, and their adjusters understand the process well. Most accident victims, however, deal with serious claims only once or twice in their lives.

An experienced lawyer can explain your rights, review settlement offers, gather additional evidence, and negotiate with insurers on your behalf. They also calculate both current and future losses so that important expenses are not left out of the final settlement.

Having professional guidance allows you to focus on healing instead of managing complicated paperwork and difficult negotiations. It also helps ensure that important deadlines are met and that every part of your case receives proper attention.

Conclusion

Insurance tactics can influence the outcome of even the strongest drunk and driving accident cases. Fast settlement offers, unnecessary delays, and attempts to reduce the value of injuries are all challenges that injured people may face. Staying organized, keeping detailed records, and making informed decisions can help protect your interests throughout the process. Taking these steps gives you a better chance of achieving a fair result and strengthens your drunk driving accident claim while you focus on moving forward with confidence.

A car accident claim can look simple from the outside. There is a crash, an injury, and insurance. Yet each part can raise questions that are not always easy to answer. A driver may blame someone else, an insurer may challenge an injury, or important details may remain unclear.

In Fayetteville, NC, busy roads and changing traffic conditions can add facts to sort through. Choosing an experienced car accident lawyer in Fayetteville can help an injured person approach these issues with a more informed plan. Experience can shape how a claim is investigated, valued, negotiated, and handled for an injured person.

1. They Know How to Look Beyond the Basic Crash Story

A police report can provide useful information, but it may not explain every detail. A lawyer with experience handling car accidents knows that the cause of a collision may need a closer look.

The lawyer may review photographs, vehicle damage, traffic signals, road conditions, witness accounts, medical records, and other information. These details can help show how the crash happened and clarify which facts deserve closer attention during a claim. This can be especially helpful if the other driver’s account differs from the crash.

Experience also helps identify which facts deserve attention. A small detail about a vehicle’s location or timing could matter in a disputed claim. For a Fayetteville accident, local roads and intersections may be part of the bigger picture.

2. They Know What to Watch for During Insurance Discussions

Insurance companies play an important role after crashes, but their review may not answer every question an injured person has. An adjuster may ask about the accident, request records, or make a settlement offer.

A lawyer can help a client understand what an insurer is asking and how responses may affect the claim. They can also review an offer before the client accepts it.

An experienced lawyer can recognize issues during negotiations. That experience can keep the focus on losses instead of allowing the claim to be reduced to a quick estimate.

3. They Can Handle Claims Where Fault Is Not Clear

Some crashes have an obvious cause. Others do not. Two drivers may give different accounts, or one person may argue that the injured driver also contributed to the collision.

North Carolina’s contributory negligence rule makes fault especially important. Under this rule, a person found to have contributed to an accident may face a serious barrier to recovering damages. That makes careful attention to the facts especially important.

An experienced lawyer can organize available information and address arguments about responsibility. The lawyer can examine how the facts fit together. This can help with crashes involving intersections, lane changes, or speeding.

4. They Look at the Full Cost of an Injury

A car accident can affect more than a person’s health. Treatment may lead to medical bills, while an injury may also keep someone away from work. Some people need ongoing care or face limits on the work they can perform.

A claim may involve losses such as:

Current and future medical expenses

Lost wages and income

Reduced ability to earn

Property damage

Physical pain

Emotional effects linked to the injury

Experience helps a lawyer ask questions about these losses instead of looking only at the first bills after the crash. This broader view matters because some effects may become clearer as treatment continues.

A careful review does not mean every claim has the same value. Each person’s injuries, work situation, medical needs, and other losses are different. The goal is to understand the impact before making decisions.

5. They Provide Guidance as the Claim Develops

Legal help is not limited to filing a lawsuit. A claim can involve decisions before a case reaches a courtroom.

A lawyer may help a client decide how to respond to insurance communications, what information to gather, whether a settlement offer needs closer review, and what options may exist if negotiations do not lead to a fair result.

This guidance can help someone dealing with injuries and missed work after a crash. Plain language can make complicated choices easier to evaluate.

Experience also helps a lawyer understand how claims develop over time, which can help clients avoid rushed decisions.

Why Local Experience Can Matter in Fayetteville, NC

Fayetteville has local streets, major routes, intersections, and areas with regular traffic from residents, workers, students, and visitors. A collision in one part of the city may raise different practical issues from a crash elsewhere.

Local knowledge does not replace careful legal work, but familiarity with the area can help a lawyer understand a crash setting and circumstances that need attention. It can also make communication easier for people who want legal guidance close to home.

Experience Can Bring More Direction to a Difficult Claim

After a car accident, someone who understands the legal process can make a complicated situation easier to manage. Experience can support a careful investigation, handling of disputed fault, review of damages, and insurance negotiations.

For someone dealing with a serious crash, choosing an experienced car accident lawyer in Fayetteville can provide guidance through decisions that may affect the claim. The right legal approach should be based on the facts of the accident, the injuries involved, and the losses that followed. Careful advice can help an injured person move forward with a better understanding of the choices available.

The BMW XM has never been short of attention. As the first standalone BMW M model since the legendary M1, it arrived with huge expectations, controversial styling and an equally substantial price tag. Now, less than four years after production began, its future appears increasingly uncertain.

BMW is reportedly reviewing its wider model strategy as it looks to reduce costs, and niche products could be among the first to feel the effects. That puts the XM firmly in the spotlight.

BMW’s Model Lineup Is Under Review

According to reports, BMW production boss Milan Nedeljkovic is reviewing the company’s model strategy as part of a broader cost-cutting drive.

The changes are expected to affect thousands of jobs, while BMW is also examining niche models, individual derivatives and certain powertrain options as it looks for areas where spending can be reduced.

The XM fits squarely into the niche category. Unlike the X5 M or X6 M, it was developed as a dedicated BMW M product rather than a performance version of an existing BMW model.

That exclusivity may no longer be enough to guarantee its survival.

Sales performance in China is reportedly another concern. With manufacturers under increasing pressure to improve margins and simplify their portfolios, keeping a relatively low-volume and expensive model in production becomes increasingly difficult to justify.

BMW XM Remains A Very Unusual M Car

Production of the XM began at BMW’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina towards the end of 2022.

Its arrival was significant because it became only the second standalone model developed by BMW M. The first was the Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed BMW M1, produced between 1978 and 1981.

Despite its bespoke positioning, the XM isn’t completely isolated from the rest of the BMW range underneath. It uses BMW’s CLAR architecture, which also underpins models including the X5, X6, X7, 7 Series and 8 Series.

The XM measures 5,110 mm long, 2,005 mm wide and 1,775 mm tall, with a substantial 3,105 mm wheelbase. Kerb weight sits at roughly 2,750 kg, making it one of the heaviest vehicles ever to wear an M badge.

XM Label Still Packs Serious Performance

BMW has already simplified the XM range, leaving the XM Label as the headline offering.

Its plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Combined output stands at 738 hp (550 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque, which is sent to all four wheels through BMW’s M xDrive system.

Would BMW Really Kill The XM?

Nothing has officially been confirmed at this stage, so the XM isn’t dead yet.

However, its position is certainly more vulnerable than that of BMW’s mainstream models. A combination of limited volumes, high production costs and its niche position could make developing a second-generation XM difficult to justify.

It would bring a remarkably short life to one of BMW M’s most ambitious projects.

The XM may not have won everyone over with its styling, but its significance in BMW M history cannot be ignored. It was created as a standalone flagship and brought electrification into the M division in a very loud way.

BMW i4 Could Also Be Under Threat

The XM apparently isn’t the only model being examined.

The BMW i4 is also said to face an uncertain future as BMW moves deeper into its Neue Klasse generation of electric vehicles.

The i4 has been around since late 2021 and remains based on architecture shared with combustion-powered BMW models. The arrival of BMW’s newer Neue Klasse electric sedans potentially creates significant overlap within the range.

Maintaining two similarly positioned electric models may make little financial sense, particularly once the newer architecture becomes established.

BMW 8 Series Facing Full Retirement

The third model reportedly under scrutiny is the 8 Series.

Its future has already been looking increasingly bleak, with various versions gradually disappearing from BMW’s portfolio.

There had previously been speculation that the 8 Series concept could be reinvented under Alpina, but those plans are now reportedly off the table.

That leaves the current 8 Series without an obvious route into BMW’s Neue Klasse era.

Unlike the XM, the potential loss of the 8 Series will probably sting enthusiasts a little more. The Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe combined elegant grand touring proportions with some seriously capable powertrains, particularly in M8 Competition form.

BMW’s Range Could Look Very Different Soon

BMW is entering one of the biggest product transitions in its modern history.

Neue Klasse technology will gradually spread throughout the range, while the company simultaneously needs to manage combustion, plug-in hybrid and fully electric models across multiple markets.

Something eventually has to give.

If the latest reports prove accurate, models with relatively low sales volumes or significant overlap with upcoming products could become increasingly difficult to justify.

The XM, i4 and 8 Series are three very different BMWs, but all could ultimately become casualties of the same strategy.

For the XM in particular, retirement without a direct replacement would bring an unusual chapter in BMW M history to an unexpectedly early end.

Hennessey’s new Blackbird has barely had time to enjoy the spotlight and every example is already spoken for.

All 71 production slots for the new Hennessey Blackbird have now been allocated, with the final cars snapped up just four hours after its public debut during Monterey Car Week in California.

The rapid sellout suggests there is still serious demand at the top end of the market for something relatively old-school: a naturally aspirated engine, three pedals and a hypercar designed around the person behind the wheel.

Hennessey Blackbird Sells Out Almost Immediately

Hennessey had already secured buyers for more than 60 of the planned 71 cars before the Blackbird appeared publicly at The Quail.

That meant only a small number of allocations were still available when the covers came off. Within four hours, those remaining build slots were gone.

According to company founder and CEO John Hennessey, the response exceeded expectations. He believes buyers are increasingly looking for cars that move away from complicated hybrid systems and screen-heavy interiors, with the Blackbird instead concentrating on driver involvement and mechanical character.

It is a very different proposition from the company’s hugely powerful Venom F5-M, but one that clearly hasn’t struggled to find customers.

Naturally Aspirated V8 And Six-Speed Manual

At the centre of the Blackbird is an all-new naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 developed in collaboration with Ilmor Engineering.

Hennessey is targeting between 800 hp (597 kW) and 850 hp (634 kW), with the engine capable of revving beyond 9,000 rpm.

Rather than chasing enormous outputs through turbocharging or electrification, the Blackbird sends its power through a six-speed manual gearbox.

That combination should make it one of the more unusual modern hypercars, particularly as manufacturers continue moving towards hybrid-assisted powertrains and increasingly sophisticated transmissions.

Serious Performance Without Chasing Huge Numbers

While the Blackbird’s focus is firmly on the driving experience, it is hardly lacking in straight-line performance.

Hennessey is targeting a 0 to 97 km/h (60 mph) time of 2.5 seconds, while top speed is expected to reach approximately 354 km/h (220 mph).

The car uses a bespoke full-carbon monocoque combined with carbon-fibre bodywork, helping Hennessey target a kerb weight below 1,361 kg (3,000 lbs).

Adaptive suspension is also part of the package, alongside ABS, traction control and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

A Hypercar Designed To Actually Cover Distance

The Blackbird isn’t intended to be another stripped-out machine that is only enjoyable on a perfect road or racing circuit.

Hennessey has given it a comfortable cabin and meaningful luggage capacity, allowing owners to use the car for longer journeys rather than simply adding it to a collection.

That approach separates it from more extreme versions of the Venom F5, including the track-focused Venom F5 Revolution.

The design itself takes inspiration from the legendary SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft, but the philosophy behind the car is refreshingly straightforward: low weight, a high-revving naturally aspirated engine, manual gearbox and as little interference between the driver and car as possible.

$2.5 Million Price Tag Didn’t Slow Buyers Down

Pricing for the Hennessey Blackbird starts at $2.5 million (approximately R40 million) before taxes.

Despite the substantial price, Hennessey had no trouble filling the 71-car production run. The Blackbird becomes the third hypercar developed by Hennessey Special Vehicles, following the Venom GT launched in 2010 and the Venom F5 that arrived in 2021.

The speed at which the final allocations disappeared also says something interesting about the current hypercar market. Huge horsepower figures and hybrid technology may dominate the headlines, but there is clearly still a wealthy group of enthusiasts willing to spend millions on something deliberately more mechanical.

With every Blackbird already sold, Hennessey’s decision to focus on analogue driving pleasure appears to have paid off.
