The 3rd Arab Bloggers meeting is a venue for bloggers from 19 countries to meet face to face, forge more relations and create coalitions amongst themselves to face new realities and challenges. It aims to support the Arab blogosphere and provide bloggers and activists with the space to strengthen their impact on society and add diversity to the field of information and activism. The event is organized by The Heinrich Böll Foundation and Global Voices Online, with support from HIVOS and the Open Society Institute.

August 3, 2011 was a historic day for the Egyptian People and all those nations fighting for justice and dignity as it marked the first day of the trial of ousted Egyptian EX-president Mubarak. The Mubarak trial is an unprecedented trial especially as no modern Arab leader has been toppled and tried by his own people before. So far!

Javeria Rizvi Kabani from the Zero Silence team was invited to comment about the trial on Aktuellt Swedish News on Swedish Public television (SVT). Zero Silence at Almedalen ("rock festival for politics")

Axel Anden, chief editor of Medievärlden and feminist blogger Afrah Nasser, from Yemen, will participate in a discussion of the documentary film project, Zero Silence - about young people’s struggle for democracy and freedom - the Global Challenge organizes in Almedalen .

Afrah Nasser was named by CNN as one of the 10 most important blogs to read from the Middle East. The 26-year-old journalist in the Yemen Observer has over the past year blogging about the situation in Yemen, on revolution and violence against the opposition.

Her work has met with great resistance. Among other things, she has been threatened because she criticized the Yemeni President Saleh. Because of the threats and the escalating violence in Yemen, Nasser has opted to seek political asylum in Sweden. It has gained wide attention in the media, including an interview with Reuters , which received international distribution, and a longinterview in Nyhetsmorgon TV4. Afrah said self-interview with Reuters this to emphasize that it is not just about her personally, but of all the resistance and violence faced by dissident journalists in Yemen.

She will continue reporting and blogging from Sweden on the situation in Yemen.
