‘It is time for young bloods to be injected into the system...’ crept into my mind again. These days its become a constant fixture.

I am currently watching the Nigerian Television Authority(NTA) Network News and I'm wondering why we still have Oga Cyril Stober still reading the news after the much popularized retirement (and let me state that I do not have a grudge with him ). However it baffles me to even consider the question: Does it mean that NTA can not find younger broadcasters who can do the job well?...

...so someone just told me he is now on contract since 'they just could not let him go' and it gets me started:

Why do we have the syndrome of older generations holding tight to power? Whether in politics, business, leadership, even in the media in Nigeria; In Africa?

I am not saying we should do away with brains and experts. No! I am saying that they have a place in mentorship and programming. The old should give way for the new. The aged should allow the youths to take their rightful place and not hold tenaciously to places they have long outgrown.

Honestly I am tired of seeing this cycle driven by greed and unnecessary thirst for power playing out over and over again. It is the same reason we have (with all due respect) a 74 year old man as our president ruining the economy and watching old politicians who came into power over 30, 40 decades ago still parading themselves on national television as our leaders and edging out youths. It is the same reason we are talking about the sale of our national assets in the first place. Because they would rather enslave the future generation and enrich themselves temporarily as long as they do not live to see the repercussions of their evil actions when nemesis finally catches up in future to wreak havoc on innocent young ones - They are the Biblical typologies of King Hezekiah who when he was sick towards death prayed that God should lengthen his days and reminded him of his good works (Isaiah 38).

As soon as his days were increased by 15 years he went on a show off spree of all the treasures of his kingdom. According to him "There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them" (Read: there is nothing that we have that I did not sell). It was at this point that God foretold him that "Behold , the days are coming when all that is in your house and what your fathers have accumulated until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left"

He told him of how his sons who will descend from him, whom he would beget will be carried off to slavery because of his singular act. And guess what? - the man who did not want to die and was a recipient of mercy like our leaders today simply said :"The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good!", "At least there will be peace and truth in my days". Isaiah 39 vs 8.

It is not different from what we see in Nigeria today and many Africa nations. Old men selling the futures of their youths and enjoying the temporarily luxury of the now; without strategic planning for their successors and future generations. This to me is the terrible lot that has befallen the Nigerian youths today; It is the terrible lot that has befallen also the African youths today.

Some days ago, the former Governor of Anambra state - Peter Obi on a youth summit set the Internet on fire when he said: "To you young people, Take Back your Country...it is your future they are toying with". "I beg you to participate more in politics, the society we help them abuse today will take its revenge tomorrow". Of course he said a lot, that our typical Hezekiah leaders would never wish to accept.

So as I sit here, I wonder how many of us are ready. How many of us youths have been armed for our responsibilities. As for me, I am. It is time for youths to step up their games. No more playing small. No more looking into the horizon. No more holidaying with immaturity, fear, and the silence of huge consequences. It is time for youths to take over not by words but by actions. Not without respect for elders or violence but by a servitude that says to them “I’ve got your back. Sit back and relax; I’ve got this! ”

Today my Landlady's girl was singing a song with words that said "You can achieve what you want if you try". It got me thinking about this profound truth. Its a truth I want to live and its a truth I really live and will continue to live. And even though everyone needs to internalize this message I just want to be a bit biased in singling out the women folk here for this beat. I crave your indulgence.

Every woman will face a lot on this path called life. Sometimes you will feel disappointed, cheated angry; sometimes you will feel like crying, sometimes you will feel terribly sad and sometimes isolation may come off a better choice than following the crowd. By all means when these emotions come knocking remember that its okay to cry, its okay to feel some blues, its okay to fail, its okay to just be on your own.

But! The story should always begin again...
You can achieve anything if you try. after the brick wall, you have to find a way. Try again, Try again and again. Don't give up. Keep your femininity. Love yourself. Support yourself. Don't loose hope. Wear your heels the exact size and inch you can muster and stand tall. Stand tall and prove to yourself that you can achieve anything you want. And you definitely will.

Sometimes it may not all come at once. Sometimes it may be only one desire at a time. But if you keep at it. Keep working on them, never giving up you will one day look on and see that you now have most and you will smile.

This is not a message from someone who has it all together nor someone that has achieved all but rather from a fellow pilgrim. And I dare to say it because herein lies the food for pilgrim's progress.

WE ALL WANT TO BELONG!

Sitting in front of my television today searching for enlightenment, I happen to stumble upon an Aljazeera documentary titled “EXILE IN NEW CALEDONIA”. It was a part one version of a series of a documentary about some Algerian deportees that were sent to an Island in Caledonia almost 150 years ago, after haven failed in their year-long resistence to French colonial rule in Algeria, France sent hundreds of Algerians to what was then a penal colony – the island of New Caledonia

As I watched, they told of their grieves, their pains and the future they never had after their fathers were taken as prisoners and sent to this Island to serve prison sentences.

Since I happened to get on midway, I could barely tell the origin of it or entire information how it all began, but 3 generations later their children were distraught about the denied future of independence that they had to live. They resented the exile. The lost Identity and the grief of the discrimination meted out to them. The sorrows in the voice of the men and the women were visible as they told of how different their lives would have been. They spoke French and were given French names that they did not like. They believed they were Arabs. The lamentation of the loss of their ethnic identities and the sense of not belonging brought tears to their eyes. They cried. I cried too.

It was all sad memories and anguish over forlorn hope. There was raw desire in their eyes as they tried to relay the imageries of a land that was told them…These were stories from the descendants of the Algerian deportees. They were a people. They wanted to belong.

It reminded me of Africa. It reminded me of the slave trade. It reminded me of all the wrongs that happened during that era. How the strong descendants of Africa were taken away. I reminisced about America. The black Americans and the shared grieve of these people in understanding and upholding their identities. The circumstances perhaps were different; they were free men taken captive and forced into slavery. Yet, in the center of it all there exists the need for identity. The need to understand their root till this day.

The thought brought me to the march on Washington August 28, 1963 at the capitol hills of the United States of America where Rev. Martin Luther king gave the speech that will forever be in history: “I Have a Dream…”. A speech, that tells of a people who wanted to be free.

As humans, we want to love and be loved. We want to be accepted. We want to know that we are free. We want to be seen as individuals with rights to be and to express our humanity.From the streets to the apex of the corporate world...

…We all want to belong.

Before you can praise God when you are on top you have to show God you can praise him in the 'pit'. There are many values you have to learn in the pit that you will need in the 'palace'.

SIX WAYS TO FAST TRACK ON TIME MANAGEMENT

Running behind time is soooooooo easy.

One minute you have all the time in the world and the next you realize you barely have an hour or more to the moment you have been waiting for.

It’s kind of frustrating to be late or not meet up. Especially, when it’s something very important. On top of that, imagine knowing that you are going to be late on your project or even a presentation. That would be some hell of a big deal. Add to that the fact that a lot of people do not take it lightly to let you be the deciding factor on time, more so at those vital big budget projects or executive meetings and you have a picture in your mind’s eye that brings a scowl on your face. Now imagine if that were a reality. Of course that will be way below par with the picture you would love.

There is something about poor time management that rubs us all the wrong way. For one, it makes you feel like a looser. I have not yet met anyone who is comfortable to know that they are turning up late at an extremely important schedule that does not feel horrible. In fact, in most cases, ‘horrible’ will be an understatement.

So how about we discuss s how to manage your time better?

Here we go. Let us find out some ways to meet up with your time:

Have a draft:

What do you want to do? Sit down and start drafting. Have an outline that guides you. Summarize in a small short form the structure of what you wish to do. If you itemize them like this, it will make it easier for you to highlight fully or expatiate later. Usually it is a way of trying to get you and your mind to start working. Instead of just living in your imagination, by doing a short draft you have successfully moved your Project into reality. You must note that this is different from having an action plan.

Have an action plan:

Use a calendar to plan a chart. What do you want to do at a specific point and when. State how long it should last and allot a time frame on it. This will guide you towards how and when each target should be implemented. I personally use this a lot and it helps me a great deal. You might prefer to use a post it. They are very colourful. Colours have a way of calling your attention. Especially, when they contrast perfectly from the background. Strategically place it at a place you will always look or go to: In front of your computer or laptop; on your fridge; on your bathroom door or door to your loo (That is if you live alone. Of course you do know it will be crazy to plaster everyone’s faces with your activity right?).

Keep a reminder:

Use your phone. It is called a mobile phone and usually you take it everywhere you go. I love it when my phone beeps to remind me about something I need to do in the next few minutes, next hour or so depending on how I set it up. I would recommend that you give yourself at least thirty minutes ahead of each agenda so that you have more time. Also, depending on where you will be at a certain point in time you should be able to assess whether your time could be extended further to accommodate a preparation. For instance if what you need to do demands that you get home to pick up something or change gears, you should set your alert for perhaps an hour to give you enough room to do just that. It is a great asset for the work of an assistant and you do not have to pay an assistant’s salary at all. Just log into the calendar your reminder for when you want the alert and the rest is history.

Be disciplined:

It’s important that you understand how needful it should be that you be disciplined. Take for instance the scenario that your phone starts beeping; you take a look at it, read what its saying and stick it back into your pocket without doing anything about it. Of course that would mean that you are not disciplined enough to be committed to your own success. So yes, you must be disciplined to ensure you work according to plan and push yourself to follow through with what is necessary.

Find the time you work best:

If you are wondering how this can impact on your time management, consider the fact that you do more work at those times that you find it easier and motivated enough to put in some work. For instance if you prefer a serene atmosphere and find it more pleasurable to work at night without much disturbances and distractions, you will notice that the energy to do more at those times means that you get more done. So reiteratively, the outcome is that whenever you work at night you turnover more; than during the day. Maybe you might have a pile of work that ends up disappearing after you put in a decent duration of night time. By all means use that knowledge to your advantage and leverage on it. Finding the time you work best and leveraging on it will save you tons of hours. By the time you quantify the hours you have saved for yourself you will realize how far you have come with effective time management. Clap for yourself later (don’t forget me too…now am smiling).

Check up on yourself:

Implementing all of the above requires that you keep an eye on yourself at every stage. What you feel are as important. The negative emotions you feel when you fail or the positive emotions you feel when you are succeeding are equally as important on this checker. Your emotion towards your progress will be your touchstone every time you accomplish something in a timely manner. Often, you will feel empowered and happier knowing you succeeded. Keep in touch by rewarding yourself at the end of every completed goal or achievement you are committed to. Keeping in touch with yourself is a great way of keeping the motivation up. Aside from that, the quick deliveries on your time line will add some zest to your purposeful living. Need I say you will be living your own ideal?...*wink*.

You want to be that person who has everything planned accordingly and implemented successfully and on time. I trust that this will go a long way to making you that person. Obviously this list is not an exhaustive one. Feel free to share your insights too. Good luck on becoming that pro with time management

WHAT I WANTED…

What I wanted tonight was love songs but all I'm getting are Rap rhymes, old school High-life and too much talk on Radio.

So I am going to just pretend it's daytime and try to enjoy the High-life...they used to make me fall asleep those good old days when I was much younger and in primary school.

I remember how I would come back from classes for the day and get home in the heat of the sun. A heat so scorching sometimes it almost feels like my skin would melt off. I would walk leisurely even though I didn’t feel right in my skin. While I walked, I would fantasize about a lot of things. My visions would gain full reign and slowly, even the sun and its effect would be inconspicuous in the moment.

My feet would dig into the grasses as I walk. I reveled in their parting as they gave way to the weight of my stride. While that felt cool beneath, at times it would no longer be enough for me to just walk on it with my shoes; at which point I would peel them off and give in to the temptation to walk bare footed...OH! It felt good to bask in the caresses of the shrubs on the soles of my feet.

Occasionally it would awaken me to sing and make beautiful music. Other times i would be lost in reverie just thinking of the wonders of nature and contemplating in my heart lots of stuffs that only a young girl can dream up.

Sometimes if I was still close to the school fields, the flying grasshoppers and the sound of their snapping wings as they take to flight does manage to catch my attention enough for me to center my thought on other beauties, rather than the pictures that my mind was readily creating.

When I was done walking the distance away from the school fields I would start relishing the scenery of the streets that lead all the way down to my home.

Under the sun, the streets usually took on a new life. On occasion it would be calm and quiet and at other times the sheer loudness of the cars and the people defined the new piece of the art carving on my mind.

It was not unsightly to see little black buttocks getting along down the street in awkward steps; and another right behind. Little boys scuttling around in the sun, laughing with glee in friendly chase had a way of causing my face to light up in smiles.

Yes, it was a good sight to see...all of that!

And when I got back sometimes, I would meet no one at home (which today seems funny to me since I have five siblings). My father's stereo will be blaring at a high pitch, doling out ballads of this sort that I hear tonight. Beautiful sonorous voices that reached out to my young heart. Drawing me into mental imageries, that is almost indescribable with words.

I remember the long wooden bench that stretched in length on the corridor of my home. They were two of them. And they were in the original colours of their natural state; Untempered by the spraying of garnish paints. I would put them together and stretch my little lithe body on them and allow myself to be drawn into the sweet clouds of my own making, listening to the tunes that gently patted my mind's head.

Often they were high-life songs from Nigerian descents; other times it would be soulful rhythms of people from other far away African countries singing away and enticing you to come away too, to their distant lands. How I loved it.

Radio had such power at those times and those times were very often. They knew when to talk and when to keep silent. The songs had meanings and every anchor had the voice and diction that kept you yearning for more. I used to look forward to the cool of those times. And tonight I am reminded of those memories once again. What it used to feel like.

Perhaps I shouldn't consider it...perhaps, the changes in times are so far apart but I can’t help but wonder: Has Radio changed for you? ...HAS IT EVEN CHANGED?

So here I am, still wondering.

Quietly, the blues have crept into the background without my notice. And now it is beginning to suit another part of me. It is sweet how the voice types merge. The sheer wonders of music, tempting me to close my eyes, enjoy and doze off. Maybe this is what I need. Come with me if you can...

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN A ROOM???

…THE POWER OF PRESENCE
Have you ever been in a room where someone walks in, and suddenly everybody turns to see who it is?

Sometimes it’s the sweet whiff of their perfume heralding their appearance combined with the striking combination of their attire. Other times it’s the voice of this person that captivates. Or perhaps It’s a sum total of all of these.

When you look, you get fascinated by the sheer confidence of this individual: They seem in control. The very air around them seems to do obeisance to the aura of this individual. Most times the added suaveness of their vocal intensity makes everyone in the room want to look to see who is speaking and even when you do, they seem oblivious of others around except for what they are saying and who they are talking to, making everyone go green with envy. And yet there are times when you are aware that they are well informed about the effect they have on others, but they are so masterful in keeping you enthralled by the charisma they exude.

This is what I call the power of presence!

The power of presence is undeniable. It is what sets you apart from the crowd. It gives your message an added edge and leaves a strong imprint of your personality long after you are gone. It is a commodity that few have access to. Yet it is an act that can be learnt; even developed.

I am sure there were times when your very own voice or appearance has captured the silence and interested looks of others. There would have been times too when you felt for certain that no matter what you said or did, you commanded the attention in your vicinity. If you quietly assessed those moments, you will see elements of the same influence that these individuals exuded.

Have you asked yourself what it was?

Don’t you think you can have that effect as often as you want if you cared enough to invest in paying attention to those moments?

There is something good about this ability. And that is, that you get others to listen to you, give you attention and ultimately; you get more done. You soon realize that the quicker responses save you loads of time and you recognize that others are willing to help you address your issues quicker.

Naturally, human beings love attention and it becomes even more inspiring to be attending to someone that everyone noticed or wants to get to know .And that is not saying that one should go about ,feeling like a blob head and hoping that it’s the same thing as having presence. No. In fact there is something absolutely subtle about this ability that makes it more appealing. As I have observed, the very astuteness of the high sense of gentleness and regard is one of the acting force of Presence.

If the power of Presence makes you more successful and helps you in getting more achieved, what are you waiting for?

Build on it.

Nigeria: The mathematics according to Nigerian lawmakers - Omojuwa | AfricanLiberty.org

This feat was achieved under the President Jonathan administration and it is very much in line with the Nigerian President’s transformation agenda. You are probably wondering about the connection but you should not. You know Nigeria used to be a British colony and no Nigerian President had witnessed such a feat since our Independence. This is one of the reasons President Jonathan must be supported to continue to transform our country. The earth is turning on its axis and revolving around its orbit in line with the Jonathan administration’s agenda. Yes the earth had always rotated and revolved but it never did with the various realities such a pass of time has come to mean for Nigeria. President Jonathan is working and his enemies cannot continue to pretend about this.

If you are wondering about the wonders of the first paragraph, what will you say about what happened at the Rivers’ State House of Assembly yesterday? 5 members of the house sat and elected a new Speaker just after illegally impeaching the legitimate one. There are 32 members of the Rivers’ State House of Assembly and you need a two third majority to impeach the Speaker. You need at least 11 members of the house to form a quorum; these men decided five was enough. What gave them the guts to behave with such impunity? They are Nigerians remember and they know just a few weeks ago a man was accepted by the presidency for being the leader of group where he had earned 16 of 35 votes. The man who had 19 was deemed the loser by the Presidency. These activities are all in line with the transformation agenda of President Jonathan.

The President in his usual brilliance is fast helping to redefine the root of mathematics. First it was the janglization of mathematics with the equation 16 > 19 (16 is greater than 19) and now we have a new one in Rivers where 5/32 = 2/3 i.e. where you need two third of the house to impeach the Speaker of the House, the Jonathan backed rogue-esque lawmakers decided 5 was enough. The evolution of this Jonathanian mathematical formula can be summed up thus;
Jonathanian mathematics | 16 > 19 (16 is greater than 19 where 16 belongs to Jonathan | 5/32 = 2/3 (where 5 belongs to Jonathan)

Mind that this formula holds sway only when the interest of the president is at hand. If you use it in school you are likely to fail except the teacher specifically demands that you janglize the equation or says evaluate this according to the Jonathanian formula. We were promised a breath of fresh air by the president and no one can deny he is delivering on that. Our children must be told that the debts they will be repaying tomorrow are being racked up as we speak. Mr. President is in China to borrow more. We need more than enough money because 2015 is around the corner and we cannot trust mathematics alone. These are all in line with the transformation agenda of President Jonathan.

NIGERIA SHOULD NOT EAT HER FUTURE NOW!

I read a news story on YAHOO today.

It has an eye catching headline screaming: NIGERIA TO SIGN OFF ON $3 BILLION IN CHINESE LOANS.

...I could not resist the temptation to comment.

Would you share your opinions with me after reading mine?

...this is what I wrote:

I do not believe that we should eat our future now!

That is what borrowing is. And to me this is clearly a typical case. Already it reeks of unequal advantages and greed. There is no level negotiation ground that I see.

I believe Mrs Okonjo Iweala should know better. We must not enslave the future of our generations unborn just because we are less comfortable now. This is the same reasoning she promoted during the subsidy removal and in many other times.

Her defense is that "we need roads, we need power, we need help on aviation, agriculture," and that Nigeria needs $10 billion a year of investment to improve infrastructure like roads and electricity to keep up with a rapidly growing population, already some 170 million, and to sustain economic growth at around 6-7 percent.

I dare say the things she enunciated are challenges that has always been there for decades till today and often used by past leaders and public servants as excuses to justify reckless spending. We might keep having these challenges for times to come as long as we have Public officials that are willing to squander our resources.

Besides, most of these infrastructural projects will eventually be executed using Chinese firms in conformity to their interest, leaving our indigenous companies on worst outcomes in the nearest future. This is a wrong move and I share Mallam Sanusi's viewpoint. Both the cheap loans and this extremely extravagant loan will be destructive in the long run.

Sadly this is going to be another Wrong action, laden with hugely negative consequences to our economy.

I saw a movie this weekend. At first, when a friend handed me THE SUCKER PUNCH, I promised to see it chiefly to make someone else happy and since I was not having much load of activities planned, I reckoned I could sit through and have myself really really watch.

It was supposed to be one of those movies I fast forward to the end and probably turned off , but it turned out to be one of those I happened to learn a lot from. I got so hit by some quotes and lines I could use for the rest of my life and possibly maybe you will too.

Obviously this is not a blog spot for film reviews but at least let me try to give you something that looks like a summary:

"Sucker Punch" is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary. She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Honestly, it is neither the plot, storyline nor the characterization that did it for me. It was the powerful lines that jumped out into my reality. I found Diamonds in the midst of roughs! Eureka!

I do not know if you will ever see this movie but I want to make sure that you share what I learnt. It is so amazing to me I need to put it out here for you to see. Now these are my epiphanies:

To me, the loads of pieces here and there relates to life. To survive you will have to FIGHT your way through with your will, strength of emotion and your mind. Knowing what your weapons are ,as you will see below and the way to utilize them will be your constant asset on the path to your unraveling story.

In this sense, a MAP then will mean your vision; a FIRE will be your inner drive and passion,the inner light that helps you see the way even when other people do not see it; Your KNIFE will mean your personal convictions and belief system that helps you to decide on what goes or stays,what needs to be cut off from your reality; Your KEY will be your talents and giftings...it is what will give you entrance to the playing field where you want to be.

In truth, all of these might come at you in a different order but somehow I do believe something in all of it will jump out to you ,and maybe you will shout 'EUREKA!' too .

So please if it does, do leave a line for me on which one actually got you.

I am going to start off with some of those beautiful quotes from the interactions and end with my favorite power-lines :

Who is it?...that does all these things?

Who honours those we love with the very life we live? ...Who sends monsters to kill us..and at the same time sings that we will never die? Who teaches us what is real and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live and what we will die to defend? ...Who chains us? And who holds the key that can set us free?

I took a shot at a writing prompt from Writer's Relief.Usually they use a Photograph as a writing prompt and say "Give this one a try" , and you are expected to write something...Anything, as it becomes imprinted on your mind.

This is what this beautiful picture inspired me to write:

AT LAST I FOUND WHERE TO HIDE MY BRA!

"I need your help" i whispered into her ears. "Ok",she responded. By the next few minutes she was with me in the ladies,unzipping my cute gown since it was a tough feat for me to handle on my own. I needed to feel more comfortable without this bra as only some hours before i had worn it in a hurry while runnnig late for an appointment and forgetting the fact that i did not need one in this particular outfit.

I got to learn her name after my ordeal.Untill that moment, she was a total stranger who understood the language of smiles,sight and polite civility."My name is Derby" she told me."Mine is Destiny" i responded back;completing the introduction.

We had some few minutes of animated sharing,during which my disengaged Brassiere found it's way into my handbag and thereafter she was off on her way,leaving me to handle the rest and the exchange of thoughts that followed from a male who had watched the drama unfold around him,arousing enough of his curiousity to ask questions since it was obvious to him i had never met Derby before.

Within the next few minutes we talked about bags.A lady's bag.We talked about how much of a treasury a woman's bag can be.Holding all the valuable and delightful things...even the mundane.We talked about my bag. Spotting a mischievous smile on my face i gave thought to my bag...every woman's bag.

Our conversation was sparked with the sweet admission that a woman's handbag is an interesting place,capable of holding anything and everything.Both the shockers and the usual of things.Infact amid the conversation a lady friend said that "a woman's bag is a moving Wardrobe".That elicited quite some laughs but mostly,it was the notion of the 'shockers' rather than the usual that appeared more appealing.

Functional, fashionable or both,a woman's handbag is a great companion.On days like mine,it can be a life saver from an all-day-discomfort.Most ladies feel confident knowing they will not have to worry about where the keys are or what she will be needing during the day such as makeup,money,spare jewelries(in case you are not sure of the one you have on), even offending undergarments like the one i yanked off.

Today am getting a full dose of my money's worth and on any good day i would not let prying eyes into my handbag easily; And am sure most women do not. Whether it is a make shift office and a hold-all, hangbags usually does reflect a lot.Now wouldn't it be fun to find out what that hot chick has in her bag?...

God help you if you get caught!

STOP REGRETTING YOUR MISTAKES!

There is no mistake in your life that God cannot use. He works everything into the beauty that you become. So stop being weary of the minuses that were your past. He can use anything and everything. He can make the meanest heart into the meekest heart. The proud, he knows how to humble. He alone has the ability to use the flaws and turn them into a style that eventually become the UNIQUENESS that is YOU!

Sometimes the heart of man can truelly be deceiving. Making us see only the impossiblities of our souls and thinking that when we loose, all is lost and the pains will never go away. But only God knows that everything about you can be a wood that will stoke the embers for the finished product.

It might be difficult sometimes to believe but if you can go through your memory lane over and over again; you will find that there were things in your past that you could never attribute for good that now in your life you can see was neccessary for good to happen. You will see that your heart breaks were neccessary for you to meet better people and get better. You will see that that high school sweetheart had to give way to your present hearthrob who understands and loves you better. And maybe you are still on your way, but you have become a nicer person because of your experience.

If you look at your failures you will see that in every of them is a lesson that you can not do without in your life right now. Yes, it's a phenomenom that our expectation-filled hearts detests to fathom. But alas! there lies the true spring board of our life's charts.

Stop regretting your mistakes and start appreciating them!

My friend Boyd C. George wrote a piece on his wife...its her birthday, so am saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MRS BOYD!

But what strikes me most is the warmth in the piece.It's the love and unspeakable devotion to the beauty of belonging in his piece that resonates with me and probably it will with you. It reminds me of the sweetness and hardwork in a relationship...the fusing of the differences in all of us that has to meet to birth something beautiful.

Does marriage hold an appeal for you?

It does for me.But if it doesnt for you, probably spousal relationships on the barest minimum does.But i can not speak your mind.However i dare to speak from the perspective of a number of people who get the feel of desire for the 'nectar' of 'Good relationship' .For 'peeps' like us...this sounds like Gold:

My wife turns 29 today. I can't believe it's been more than 10 years since we first met. Through the years, we've definitely experienced the growing pains that come with the emotional and mental maturation process, especially when you compare who we were at 18 to who we are now. Life hasn't always gone according to plan for us, but I can honestly say that she's been there for me and with me through the highs and the lows. She is the true definition of a ride or die chick, but if she touches the remote again while I'm watching football, you might have to put me in the cell next to Drew Peterson ... just kidding ... or am I?

But seriously, it's truly a blessing to find someone who loves you for you and feels the same way about you whether you're a millionaire or a peasant. And although I have to bend down to hug and kiss her because of our height difference, and I wonder how I will be able to manage that in our later years, I cherish every embrace like it's our last. So when she gets home from work today, I will greet her with the words that any loving husband would tell his wife on her birthday: "Is that a gray hair I see?"

WOW!

Maybe we will not all talk about the Gray hair on his/her birthday but love is worth celebrating;and Special days are worth ccelebrating too!. Toasts to love and to life!

Today i got a mail from one of my favorite people.His name is Burt Goldman.Burt is 85 and

inspires me in a lot of ways.He has achieved a lot in his later years and goes a long way to prove that the human ability is poised to respond in success at any point in any one's life. see Burt Goldman here

If you follow my blog, you will find that i believe in unlimited possibilities and at any chance that i stumble on any great stuff that i know will encourage you to i live for purpose, will definitely share.

There are loads of questions that came to my mind as i read this particular piece...questions that i feel every person should be able a to ask themselves if we all desire to move up to a a better place in life. let me ask you :

LIFE AS A BOOK!

Thinking about life,isn't it awesome how it is kind of like a book?Now take a minute and make a movie from what am saying. A literary work that keeps going on and on and on-Isn't it profound to think and understand the depth of the truth in these words.

For the first time, i truely can relate with the meaning of the words "life is like a book!".not just because of the sentence in the statement but the true meaning of the words.The deeper meaning of the phrase.

If you did what i suggested above,you will see that you can relate with it more vividly than you ever gave mental thoughts to. In my mind's eye,the pictures play real;revealing intensely a real book with every page for everyday that one lives on earth.Every alphabet linked to another in a series of words that tell the tale of the everyday experiences of each one of us

It marvels me to understand that as i live each moment, a pen does weave words on paper;And that the choices i make become an illustration and a story line that must truelly not end till the day i breath my last.

Now, here comes the part that chills me to sweet wonder :Imagine the fact that your everyday makes a single page,it means that in one year you would have made up to three hundred and sixty five(365) page book with your life's experiences.

Wow! isn't that so interesting?

Now again if you lived on earth to see your 28th year birthday,you will have made ten thousand, two hundred and twenty(10,220) pages volume of literary work. At age 41,you will have made a fourteen thousand,nine hundred and sixty five (14,965) pages work. At age 50, you will have eighteen thousand,two hundred and fifty(18,250) pages work. At age 70, you will have twenty five thousand,five hundred and fifty (25,550) pages work and on and on and on. It is amazing!

Truth be told: sometimes,we are not all good composers. It hits home that at one point or the other,the words get jumbled up. On the other hand,some of us make better writers and communicate succinctly and clearly with beautiful well orchestrated story-lines that makes a master read.

Just like in the literary world where some writers make lots of references in making up and pointing to the real issues;in life at least for the first few years of your life, you most probably have to make lots of references from more accomplished predecessors to help you write better.

Every child is like a clean sheet or slate.At first he/she keeps referring to others.After a while,when they grow up to become adults they write with flair . Perhaps at 50 or 60 years,enough would have been gathered to make a happy or a sad piece.

Unfortunately we do not stop to wonder how delightful we want our read to be or to even wonder at the direction our flow should take. In the long run,we often fall between the category and invariably make either a pleasant or a boring read.
Of course it will be great every once in a while to help yourself understand that the moment you share in your life with the people close to you will make a good read if you filled it with joy, laughter and giving; than with sadness and grief.

It does matter what your pen weaves along the pages :especially since you can control the story.If your choices can be different and better,your 'theme' can make a Blockbuster. ..oh,How blessed it will be to make a great read.

So, LIVE IT UP and HAVE A BLAST. You've got a story to write!

ANGER IS OK...ITS A PROCESS,JUST PUT A TAB ON IT!

'When you feel angry do not let it be hidden'... This might sound a lot different from a typical advice of 'do not show it Honey', but believe me anger can be an outlet. A powerful outlet for your soul. It is like a window that has the capacity to let in fresh air,if you only open it wide enough to let the bad air out.

Somehow we have to admit it to ourselves and to others to find that our healing starts.Often time, all of these have a way of cooling our stance in the situation that we find ourselves.

While angry you have to be careful to handle yourself appropriately because there is always a thin line between the good and the bad that can accrue from that outlet. This is because in being angry,you may have the edge and the ability to have all the aces and yet loose someone you love through that same outlet.It is just like treating cancer.You have to kill the cells but if care is not taken,you can also kill the human.So,in dealing with anger you are the doctor.You have to be watchful and observant and not let your sensitivities go. That person you are angry with is extremely important and what you can do by wielding the sword can extract or kill.

Anger is indeed liberating depending on the perspective you choose to see it.Anger is a feeling that we seem to easily learn to hide.It could bring immense gratification if we can really internalise how to feel the feeling and still channel it aright to achieve what we want to achieve with it and also get better relationships and understanding from the people we love.

This is true because it is when others learn about the things that we do not want them to do to us that they can keep a checkmate on them and learn to relate with us and figure out the way to make "us"(our relationships with them) work.

I think we have always seen anger in a bad way.That is why we have also labelled it to assume a monster status.However it can be the only way we discover afresh how to negotiate our lives for the better.Anger is a strong negotiation tool for the kind of life we want, plus the things that we desire.Being angry can be likened to sitting at that table with the other person and trying to meet them at a middle point to be able to get our desires.

Surprisingly as i write this piece i logged into an application( message from God) on my social networking site and was greeted with these powerful words: "On this day of your life, Destiny, we believe God wants you to know ... that although forgiveness is very hard, it is necessary.Holding onto anger and old hurts hardens your heart and hurts only you. Ask for help in letting go of the anger. Ask to see the situation through the eyes of compassion. Allow yourself to feel the lightness of forgiveness"-how liberating!

I have heard that heat and pressure makes diamonds.That's just how real the reality of anger should be to us. When we are at the receiving end, it is often difficult to see it in a good light; especially since the pressure is on us.But if we can remember that anger is the rough on the diamond and wait it out,listen to the words of the soul without judging,try to understand the emotions in the heart,put ourselves in the other person's place and swap roles ...maybe,like finding the diamond,we would find the bridge that would take us to a refreshing new start.

A small piece is rising in my soul and it is one that should motivate you.However, it comes right down in my heart like the words in a poem ,making this part of me come alive.More than anything i wish it brings you also to a depth of encouragement so much so that you will do just what you need to do to recreate or create.

Like Shakespeare, if you have ever met a writer's block or even wanted to act like Genevieve Nnaji and Angelina Jolie but can't even piece your art together or maybe even got stuck on one point in life's mystery lane;i remind you:

BIRTHDAY IDEAS FOR THE 9TH OF DECEMBER OR ANY OTHER DAY!

Birthdays are special times when we get in touch with our personal roots.Old or Young,there is always something about our birth days that warm our hearts.This customised feeling is usually just there even when you do not feel like throwing the wildest parties to celebrate.Deciding to give it full reign or not calls to mind some 'user discretion', depending on how modest you want or not want to be.

Now, far from making you feel like your birthday is not on the 9th of December yours is actually so special i had to share. In-fact, this birthday idea was generated as a birthday gift for a friend who was born on the 23rd of of October and should come handy for your special day just like mine.So whether you are born on the 9th,23rd or any other day and month of the year,you should feel as special knowing you deserve the best of your beautiful day.

In trying to get the best birthday activities for that grand day ,i revel in putting together ideas to rev up your day.I hope it becomes my Birthday gift to you.

Whether you are naturally bubbly with a spilling joyful disposition or a quiet wise soul,the fun will be to carry out these activities just the way they are and 'add some' rather than to subtract any.While some may not be entirely you,trying them out may bring out a part of you that you never knew existed.Perhaps you may realise you do have a little child,a funny side,or even a naughty side inside you after all.

Its not an exhausted list and you should really add some...So here we go.Some birthday activities for FABULOUS YOU:

* Be a child. Hang balloons outside your door... And make a wish.

*Buy a birthday cake that is boldly written something like:'Destiny is 42 and fabulous' in your favorite colors and get it delivered 1st thing in the morning- eat some piece.In fact,eat lots of pieces'

*Call up your mom and tell her today is your birthday and you are grateful she made the choice to introduce you to the world...send her a gift that will coincide with the time of the call.

*Buy someone else a present...preferably someone who makes you most happy.

*Write up a list of ten things you are grateful for this year. After writing it out,close your eyes and send some words of gratitude to God. Afterward,dab a little of your favorite perfume on the sheet and burn it up as a sacrifice of thanksgiving...not so much as to burn your house down cos i will not be there to help you call fire service!

*Take yourself out and buy yourself a good meal...if possible have a blind date!

*See a movie. A really good movie. A very interesting and inspiring movie or one that you have been dying to see.

*Look through old photos of friends and family and have a laugh. You will be surprised how much that will mean to you.

*Have a game session with a friend or loved one and try not to loose..its your birthday !

*Have a reconnection time even if you do not want a party :let your kids or friends (or you can do that with any one) take turns to tell you what they like about you,while you seat at the centre on a chair.Most preferably if they get to write them out and read them to you...you would be surprised at the emotion and the bonding.

*Read psalm 139 .Go to the mirror,smile.Keep smiling and say aloud seven times:'i am blessed and i am a gift to the world'...looking straight into your own eyes.

*Play your favorite music.Still thinking about all the good stuffs that has happened to you this year or that you are grateful for, close your eyes and dance alone or Just simply enjoy the rythm.

*If you are able to get done all the items on this list,do whatever else gives you joy. And after all goes down today,when you turn in and on bed,think about the joys of today and your life. With a smile on your face, send a gratitude kiss to heaven,turn over and have a good night rest!

Am reading 'Q; The autobiography of Quincy Jones'. It’s such a great read and every once in a while I read an anecdote, or a great saying from deep within the recesses of the great man. I read how much sorrow and plight brought out the capacity of a man whom the world has come to know today as one of the most formidable men of history especially in music history.

Often, you hear something from earth’s ‘human resource’ a substance in words that recounts the place of bad experience in the making of success. It baffles me that we only relate to those negatives in a joyful way only after the success has been accrued. How many of us truly see defeats, pain and suffering as earnestly what they are?...a passage to the lounge of happiness. Why is it that we easily identify the joyous, long after the pains have gone?

How I wish my mum taught me how to meet with failure. How I wish I was taught in graduate school the ways to deal with the offshoots of real hard-work and hustling. Perhaps if we were taught that as a course or got the full emphasis of it at the footstools of our parents, it would be easy to deal with the reality of them but Lo……No!

No one teaches you that. And just like life is full of surprises, we have to deal with all of these just the same way. But thank God for autobiographies and stories of success and pains that help us realize that. They keep us grounded with the understanding of others pertaining the scores of life. Thank God for literatures and books. At least what we never learn at kitchens and schools we get to learn from sheer human sharing through literary works.

EVERYTHING IS AN ART

I have come to understand that in this life, everything is an art. Whether speaking, eating, walking or even putting oneself together. Knowing the intricacies of the proper way will always serve you when you want to do things well.

On every turn however, is someone who knows how to do well, some of the things you may find yourself inefficient and it will often pay off better in living well if we could learn to do those things we have lesser finesse in doing.

I met a man who ate so badly and noticed how everyone shuddered silently around him, yet would not speak a word of it to him and it made me wonder.

I asked myself questions:

when did he loose it? Wasn’t there someone to notice and correct when he was much younger?... and even now isn’t there someone close who can help?

It’s obvious that much of what we do seem to be taught is passing. As such it becomes a normal trend to have an average knowledge of most things until we find the need to perfect the ability or raise our capability to do them more effectively.

I feel that one should not be shy about asking someone else to teach him/her the better way of doing any of life’s activity. Be it corporate or casual. As one of my friends quoted out recently in a conversation: “humility is not weakness” and I dare add that ‘asking to learn is neither a weakness too rather strength’.

After studying and readying about success at any point in time, it stands clear that often successful people did master the art of that specific activity, field or environment they are leading on.

So go all out to learn the most proper way of doing stuff. If you must yawn, yawn sweetly, if you must dance, be the best dancer. If you are a poor dresser, check out some of your friends that are good to go on appearance and hit that target.

It’s actually a fun place-this world. And everything is an art.
