WE had a great day at the the Red Apple Barn in Phillipston, MA. It was our first "Trade Show" which was actually their annual Family Day. We roasted up a bunch of Colombian Spectacled Bear coffee and although didn't sell out, we met a lot of people from the local area who seemed astounded that there was coffee being roasted right in Gardner, MA. We had airpots of brewed coffee and everyone who tasted it was amazed at the freshness and taste. Just remember: Once you try our coffee, you'll never want "the other guys" again. More later. It is absolutely the best odor in the world !!!
But seriously, folks, have you ever had any fresh brewed coffee that's been roasted within seven (7) days of receiving it? I have a local customer who orders from us on the phone, and within 24 hours he has freshly roasted coffee ground and in his hands. He was a supermarket customer, buying one of the store brands. When we first started discussing coffee, he had a hard time believing that we'd charge $10.95 for Costa Rican coffee. He was used to paying $8.95 for a pound of their coffee. The thing that sold him was when I brought a pound over to his house and he opened the bag and almost fell down when he smelled how fresh our coffee was. I explained to him the timeline of the roasting/shipping cycle of their coffee vs. ours.
Of course, he still was a hard sell on the price, but I told him I'd work with him. Once his wife got a taste of the coffee, she told him to pay me the full price for a pound.
Very simply, she told him that it was the best tasting coffee that she's ever had, and there wasn't any real reason why we should be paid any less for our work.
So, that's one story of how the quality of the green bean supplier flows downward to our small roasting company and how it's a "win-win" for you, the end user.
This month we're offering a Fair Trade Organic Sumatra Mandehling. Originating for Indonesia, the taste is described as such: very sweet, fruity, rich, round, raspberry, heavy body.
If you're looking for a coffee with a unique taste, then try this one.
And remember, we only charge $3.99 to ship 1 lb. anywhere in the USA.

April Newsletter

Happy Saturday, Everyone;
Just released our April newsletter, where we published an article about the roast cycle of the coffee bean from green to gulp. This coffee from the Kichwa Tembo plantation tasted just like the cupping notes state: Graham cracker, grapefruit, acidity, raisin, lemon, chocolate
We also have in a nice Tanzania Peaberry. Tanzanian coffees are grown on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, under the shade of banana trees, truly an exotic location for this east African coffee. Tanzanian coffee is somewhat similar to the coffee of its neighbor north of the border (Kenya for the geographically challenged), bright, clean and aggressively complex. The cupping notes describe the taste the best: Floral, sweet, peaches, green apple, baking spices, citric, delicate body. It's not overpowering, but packs enough taste to want a second cup.

Welcome to our blog.
