• Create a Festive Mood. Cinco de Mayo is a festive holiday, so think bright colors (red, white and green), chili pepper lights and sombreros. For kids, print out Mexican flags to use to decorate the room or as placemats. Pinatas are another fun way to make the mood festive. Be sure to grab this Cinco de Mayo Checklist so that you don’t forget any mood-setting décor, and stop by Amazon to download some MP3s.

• Food, Food, Food. It won’t do to serve hot dogs and baked beans at a Cinco de Mayo party, so plan for a lovely spread of food, including nachos, tacos and Spanish rice. And of course, don’t forget to set out the chips and salsa.

Ah, Super Bowl® Sunday; one of my favorite times of year. A chance to catch up with some old friends, voluntarily agree to watch commercials with enthusiasm, and over-indulge in delicious food. Here are some of my all-time favorite Super Bowl snacks because, let’s be real folks, it’s not Super Bowl Sunday until someone makes chicken wings.
