Meeting Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville!

I was lucky to meet Bonnie Hunter from Quiltville. She was staying in a hotel in our town and my mother-in-law emailed her if she wanted to come visit her. My mother-in-law owns Happy Sewing Room quilt shop and has met Bonnie before.

My MIL Jean is a big fan of Bonnie's. Here she is showing her couple of the quilts she made using Bonnie's free patterns.

The quilts bellow is called Orange Crush, it's on my to make some day list! It was one of the quilt mysteries Bonnie is known for.

Melisa used blue and my MIL Jean used green. It looks so different, isn't it?

YAY for Quilted Pants!

Do you watch "Project Runway"? I saw this picture at "Lord and Taylor" last weekend.

Did you know I used to work for Lord and Taylor? I was the Lead Alteration Specialist for one of their Philadelphia stores. Good times! :)

I am so excited that Michelle Lesniak Franklin won! If you watched the runway show, her opening look, fabulous wool dress was stunning and it was my favorite! I love that she incorporate quilting in a very modern and fashion forward way! YAY for quilting pants!

The runner up was Patricia Michaels. I really enjoyed her innovative techniques and I like that she incorporated her native american heritige in a very cool ways! Her closing blue dress was to die for and she even made the silver beading herself. (I will try to find pictures to add later)

This is one of the eliminated designers Layana Aquilar and I was her fan. She had some great looks and helped other designers too. I think she deserved to made it to the end, instead of Daniel, but that simply my opinion!

I am not in love with the teams this season, it made for more drama which, I guess is popular for the reality shows, but most people watch this show for the fashion, so

NO MORE TEAMS PLEASE!

What did you think of the runway show? I think it was one of the best seasons!

I am itching to make some dresses! So much inspiration so little time!

My Best Show and Tell!

The title of my blog post says it ALL!

Meet my daughters! Natalie is 7 months already. I want her to stay baby, but she is growing up! Her big sister Veronica is 2 years and 3 months. They are the joy of our lives with my hubby. Life is never boring at our house!

Please accept my apology for my absence from my blog. You know little kids keep you busy! :)

Here is a quilt I finished. I made it from customer's daughter baby clothes. I really love the quilt! It took a lot of time to cut up all the little baby clothes and fuse them, and to play with the layout. I didn't use any extra fabric is all baby clothes, except the binding and the backing!

I used light pink bubble fleece on the back and satin for the binding. The customer LOVE the quilt! She asked me to add a sleeve so she can hang it for keep sake! I have an order for another one on my to do list!

Keep an eye for more show and tell on my blog! I have been busy while not bloging! :)

Mermaid Quilt- my challenge quilt

I participated in a challenge my mother-in-law had for fun. Many of you know she owns a Happy Sewing Room - a quilt shop and she had a booth at Hershey quilt show. She though it will be fun to have a challenge between the people that help her at the booth. The prize is that the winner get to pick next years fabric.

<--- This is the challenge fabric(the green bubbles). As soon as I saw it I thought of making ocean sean with fishes and bubbles from the challenge fabric. When I started working on the quilt I came up with the mermaid.

I love all the embellishments I did. Like the green neckless and the little belt. There are some blue stones on the rocks in the sand as well.

My Mother-in-law made this cute Owl quilt!

My father-in-law made coasters. He wasn't very inspired by the fabric.

Here is the winner this year. Trish made this stars quilt and the black really made them pop.

Everybody did a great job! I had a lot of fun creating my quilt and everybody was close, but Trish won. Congratulations Trish!

Strawberry Shortcake Quilt

Just a quick post to let you, my readers, that I am still here. Let me tell you, I am just HOT, from being 8 month pregnant and running after 17 month old busy little girl! :)

I wanted to share this cute little quilt I made for her. I will post some picture of the quilted quilt later. I quilted for first time with bubble fleece. It went pretty smooth.

Basket of Flowers is My Challenge Quilt

I am a big fan of Edyta Sitar from "Laundry basket quilts" ever since I saw her first book at a quilt shop in Indiana. I don't buy books very easily, but I had to have "Hop to it" that had a bunny aplique in it.

I saw she had a challenge on her blog using her new designs fabric silhouettes. They are laser cut ready to use fusible aplique shapes. I sign up for the challenge and the due date was today. As usual life happens and I had so many ideas how to use them. I took a class in Hershey and had the basket and the pink 3d flower started, so I added the flowers. I am happy how it turn out! I can finish the quilt a lot faster now! :)

We Are Blessed!

I am happy to announce that we are expecting another child.

Drum roll please ......

We are truly blessed with another baby girl!

Veronica will be big sister! We got Veronica a little baby doll today that cries and she has to give her a pacifier, she is very gentle with the doll. She loves to play with other kids and I think she will love her little sister! I can't wait to meet my baby!

Orange Candy Table Runner

I made an Orange flavor Candy table runner, yummy! :) And it's calorie free!

it's another version of my original pattern "Candy Table Runner". I used our (me and my husband's) favorite colors: orange and green. I also made wider borders and that gave me the space to quilt one of my favorite designs of tulips, flowers and butterflies.

Some old and some new finishes....

This is my "Blue and Yellow quilt" that I finished last year! I love the blue and yellow batiks and traditional cotton fabric that I mixed. I have been enjoying it on our bed.

Here is the detail of the quilting. This was a very difficult panto to do by hand. And of course because the quilting was showing so well, I had troubles with my machine.

I recently finished this "Glorious Fall" quilt. It was easy to put it together, I used some precut squares and added some of my stash! You can find the pattern at "Happy sewing room".

Quilt from baby clothes!

After a good brake, I wanted to show you what I just finished! I have been sewing and busy taking care of Veronica, she is 14 months now, just not blogging!

Just finished piecing this quilt made from baby clothes for a friend.

Now I have to quilt it and make another one for her other daughter.

Stacey's quilt

Stacey made this quilt for a raffle for local Moose club. Few months ago she asked me to machine quilt it.

After I was done with the quilting she appliqued Moose in the corner.You can see picture of the moose on my mother-in-law blog here. I think it turn out cute! As cute as a moose can be! :))

The Coffee Quilt

May I present to you "The Coffee quilt". It was done in January when I finished the binding, but couldn't share it with my blogging friends because it a surprise for my mom. She loved the quilt and took it back to Bulgaria with her. We miss her and she was a big help with the baby.

Here is a close up of the quilting on the frame. I am very happy how the quilting turn out. I think the pink thread was a good choice!

I know mom enjoys her quilt as she loves coffee ... mmmm coffee! I am going to go get some coffee!

I am back!

I am back ... to blogland that is! I took an unannounced break, but I missed blogging and reading some of my favorite blogs!

As you guessed it that is a picture of my beautiful baby, Veronica. Thank you for the wishes and advice for my baby girl! She is growing so fast and I am excited to see every new trick she learns. Did we have a very long winter here in PA this year or is it just me!? I am ready for some nice, warm weather and spring!

Below are the valances that I made for the nursery using the 6" blocks that my friends at the Happy Sewing Room's sewing group made for me.

I am working on curtains to go with the valances and I have blocks for a quilt as well. I hope my next post won't take as long as this one! I have more finished projects to blog about, so check back soon!

My Baby Girl is Here!

My little cutie pie Veronica Scot Boyd was born January 18th 2011. She was 6lb. 8oz - 2kg 950gr.

A baby is a gift from heaven,

a gift so very sweet...

and nothing can compare with it

or make life more complete!

Big Surprise and Talented People!

I received a package in the mail yesterday! Millie sent me an email that I won her giveaway, but this was a big box. She made two pretty quilts and she is also a very talented longarm quilter! If you haven't been to Millie's blog hop over to get inspired! There were two pretty packages in the box! The first one looked like a purse and inside were the two quilts that I won!

I feel so lucky! The first quilt is a snowmen quilt with two pieced pine trees and stars! It will make perfect wall hanging for the Winter season! I am blogging friends with Millie and this is my first chance of seeing her longarm quilting in person!

The second quilt is Millie's original design! She came up with the pattern!

In the other bag for my surprise were three adorable outfits for the baby! Millie knows that my favorite color is green so she got that adorable green outfit with a ruffle, so cute! The pink outfit is my favorite because it says, "Mommy loves me"! The purple one is cute also with the little kitty.

Thank you so much Millie! Aren't blogging friends the best?!!!

Talking about talented quilter's, one of the nurses at the doctor's office quilts and we are always talking about quilting. She showed me a quilt she is making for her husband. I wish I took a picture of it! Her daughter plays guitar and crochets and knits, too. Check some of her crocheted creations at her Etsy site here. You never know where you are gonna meet some wonderful talented people!

Surprise Baby Blocks

Hello everybody!

I have been busy sewing here, I just haven't spent much time on the computer. I am behind on my blog posting.

My friends from the sewing club at my local shop, "Happy Sewing Room" surprised me at the last meeting. Pat came up with the idea to ask everybody to make 6'' blocks for a baby quilt.

All of the ladies were so generous and agreed to make a block and some of them made multiple blocks. As you will see all of the ladies are very talented and made very pretty blocks.

My mother-in-law sent everybody light purple dimple fabric. She didn't know that we were going to paint the nursery almost the same color so the blocks will match the wall color.

Here are all the blocks:

Mom - my mother-in-law made 3 blocks (two stars and a spool block). She had to make a spool block, as she loves sewing.

Pat thought of everything and brought label for everybody to sign.

I was really surprised and overwhelmed! Everybody put so much time and love into making the blocks! They are truly very talented group of quilters. Pat also brought cake and it was like a second shower! All the blocks were in a pretty box that I will show later.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

I have been busy baking as you see:

I made sugar cookies, black and white cookies, chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and my favorite Bulgarian cookies called "Maslenki". My hubby helped me with the icing and he came up with the idea of the sugar trees.

Healthy and Easy Chocolate Chip Muffins

I made these "Healthy and easy chocolate chip muffins" today to bring to a friend's house and it turned out it was my surprise baby shower! I had an amazing time, I will post more about it later.

You won't believe how easy and healthy are these muffins. All you need is:

- box of chocolate cake mix,

- 15 oz. can pumpkin puree,

Optional:

- 1 egg

- a hand full of chocolate chips

Mix all of the ingredients and scoop into a muffin tin sprayed with oil. Bake at 350 F for 20 - 25 min or until a tooth pick is inserted and comes out clean. The muffins came out moist and fudgey! If you have to watch your cholesterol you can omit the egg, I just though it needed it. The muffins don't have any oil if you use paper cups, but I didn't have any.

Christmas Quilt Show

I am participating in the Christmas Quilt Show that SewCalGal is organizing again. You can see my entry from last year here.

The "Snowmen quilt" is the next one on the line to be quilted. I love the fabric that looks like it was knitted.

The next quilt I call "Skiing Bears". It's a flannel quilt and it's very soft. I originally made as a backing to the "Snowmen quilt". After all the sewing and measuring I decided it's too pretty to be the backing of a quilt so I am gonna make it into another quilt. I already found backing in my stash for the snowmen quilt, but I have to get some for the "Skiing bears"! :) Have you done that?

Do you make your own Christmas tree ornaments? I try to make one every year. If you have an embroidery machine or you have an interesting fabric you can use my tutorial to make one yourself. I would love to see if you make one! You can see my tutorial here.

I haven't decorated yet for Christmas, but the show is setting the mood for it! :)

Shop Hop Quilts and more ...

I am very proud to be part of these amazing quilts, that my mother-in-law made for Eastern PA shop hop. She owns "Happy Sewing Room" and she did outstanding job designing the quilts! She made a wall hanging "Spring time Sue" and "Floral Fantasy bed runner". You can read more details for the shop hop here.

I machine quilted both quilts with a panto with butterflies, tulips and flowers.

If you have wonder why I haven't post in while, it's because I have been quite busy. Not the good kind of busy. My blood sugar came out high and they diagnosed me with gestational diabetes. I have to test my blood sugar 7 times a day and take insulin shots before meals. The good news are that the baby is doing well so far and they will be monitoring her very close, so I hope everything will be fine.
