Once upon a time, this newborn session sent a lot of compliments my way. (Mostly for this photo.) Which is great and all, but I have to give more credit to their amazing home than my photography skills. For real. Mama is one of those insanely smart and talented people, and someone I love to stalk on Instagram. So I was stoked when she asked invited me back for another newborn session with baby sister.

Sometimes you hire a Photographer for one-year photos in your home, and then your usually-giggly baby wants no part of sitting by himself and smiling. He wants snuggles and tickles and love. And so you give him tons of it. And it’s all for the best because really, there’s nothing better than capturing those connections. In 2016, I want so much more of this. I want to be invited into your home, to take off my shoes and stand on your bed to capture your crew as you are.

Side note: really glad mom and dad held off on baby’s first haircut until after photos because THAT HAIR!

Just a couple of years ago, I took photos of their new baby boy at this same Dallas address. So I knew just what our setting would be like when I showed up for baby sister’s newborn photo session in August. Nope! They’d completely rebuilt their home, and it is absolutely STUNNING. Just like their brand new baby girl.

I’ll never get over how cool it is to see babies I’ve photographed as newborns turn into the big siblings.

Oh we had SO many things going against us that morning, we almost postponed their in-home session (for the third time maybe?). But we did a little problem-solving and powered through. And I’m glad we did because somehow, with three young kiddos on a hot summer day, we got some pretty good stuff. High fives to the whole crew.

I wouldn’t normally favor Klyde Warren Park for a photo session, buuut this family really does spend a lot of their time there. So it really made sense to capture that. Plus it’s always nice to splash around around a little, right?

This was my first family photo session after the workshop with the amazing Yan, and it felt so good.Loving family, blonde curls, white comforter, baby skin, squirmy toes, sunlight… boys. It’s my jam. So great to work with this family again on some fresh images in their own home.

Had just a few minutes with this gorgeous family out at Joshua Tree. Was so great to meet up with some really talented (but mostly fun-to-hang-out-with) Photographers for a few days, thanks to The Bloom Forum. I made some new friends from California to New Jersey on that trip, and I’m ready for a reunion.

Hi. Remember me? I used to blog here? And then I slowly disappeared? Sorry ’bout that. Guess I have some catching up to do, yeah? OK….

So just today I just got a handful of images (film scans) from our visit to Oma and Opa’s place last Thanksgiving. And since I’m also wanting to share a bit more about my personal world, this seems like a good place to start…. Our boys. Playing with sticks and hunting for bugs out in the country. Their imaginations come to life out there.
