Dear Time, please show me how you fly!

I often wish I had extra time in my day. I imagine I’d use it to spend more quality moments with my family or do some yoga and relax, or just lazily sleep off.

But but come to think of it honestly i would perhaps actually end up spending every second of my two extra hours on twitter! Can you imagine the number of tweet i could post, read , Retweet and reply to in two hours! wow!! just the thought of it make me happy :D

Last November i used to be a big fat twitter addict and it was affecting the whole pattern of my life offline so in December 2010 i made this new year resolution to set things straight and get the balance back into my online and offline lives

MY resolution was to get deaddicted from twitter! and for the first time in my life i actually kept a resolution! oh yes i almost got deaddicted ! i so wish i had not made that stupid resolution , coz twitter is a passion for me..

Twitter is terrefic technology and ranks right on top on my list of favorite social networking sites specially because it limits the bullshit to 140 characters . Twitter keeps convos sweet , short and to the point, it redefines the meaning of Wit. The best part about twitter being I can be myself , tweet my mind out . Be rude, be controversial, but be me the REAL me.

Twitter is my source to breaking news, page 3 celeb gossip, platform to incessantly rant, seek advice, a make shift IM, replacement for sms jokes and quotes in short its my window to the world.

Now i mostly catch up when i really have nothing else to do! it is no longer an addiction of sorts and that bores me , to an extent that well iam considering reversing my last year's resolution. come jan 2012 I will make this resolution of getting readdicted to twitter and make sure i keep the resolution and for that ill have a plan A, B and C or even a plan Z! yes iam that desperate! or maybe twitter is that hip . An ipad or a playbook from indiblogger would only help my cause ;)

Also being a twitterrati, killed the blogger in me! If i had those extra 2 hours i would tweet (micro blog) and may be a portion of it be spent on blogging!

Iam so looking forward to 2012 .. to get myself a new resolution and to join the twitterverse in full swing, pop into a controversial discussion and tweet away . Eternal Bliss.

Twitter's sucky ReTweet button! Go manual!

If you are using twitter and tweet from web i.e twitter.com then you'd know about the retweet button and how much it sucks!

Firstly twitter does not give me an option to edit a tweet before Retweeting . This is such a fail. Arent you supposed to explain why you retweeted a particular tweet ? or just add a +1 or -1 to the RT so you can show you agree or disagree with a tweet. I misss adding a tiny bit of commentry like #awesomeness or cool .

I Shared the tweet, i discovered or rather found that tweet in my busy timeline so dont deserve proper credit? Twitter undermines the retweeter by giving tiny credits :(

I tried retweeting a cool tweet about a month ago only to discover protected tweets cant be retweeted !!! Fair? no !

If someone retweets you using this button you will not know ( coz you dont recieve @mentions) untill you visit your tweets retweeted section! how lame. who anyways visits this section? Also if you retweet someone , the someone will not know bout it instantly and you miss a "thanks for RT type of complimets and frankly who does not like compliments ! heck

Sometimes im like who is this stranger in my timeline only to discover the tweet was retweeted by a person iam following!

So well all i wanna say is ive had enough of this button and from now on ill RT the manual way , the way we did it before that button came into existence of better still try using third party apps like tweetdeck because twitter is all about building relationships and that is not what that sucky button promotes.

Trust me the manual Retweet takes time but is totally worth it!

Tips to manual Retweet

-copy a tweet , remove the name of user from betweena dd an RT @ hit tweet!

-if you have issues editing a tweet (so it can fit into 140 chars) then Add MT (modified tweet) instead of RT

Ra.one: Definitely lives up to the hype

Saw ra.one yesterday ... And well it impresses me.

review as an SRK Fanatic :****

to be frank Ra.one has its share of blemishes but you cant deny the fact that this movie takes bollywood to new heights . Being one of the most ambitious movies ever SFX impress you to core but same cannot be said of the story.

highs:

-Action sequences were done nicely with perfect sfx finish

-SRK is convincing and fab as shekar and G.one. kareena also does a good job at acting

-chammak challo, criminal, dildara... awesome music and kareena looks great

-Ra.one's suit

-anti smoking campaign. nice i like it!

-Don2 trailer ... it just leaves me craving for more of SRK ! waiting for xmas

-Armaan as prateek makes a fab debut and his cool long locks make him cute :)

-entry of G.one into real world chasing ra.one , the cars chasing blasting stuff was awesome

If you want a perfect film well this is not for you! And in any case you better stay away from bollywood if you did not like ra.one coz bollywood has nothing good to offer at present. ! trulu ra.one is better than bodygaurd, ready

low:

-Script. Bollywood has everything to compete with hollywood the only 3 other things we need is good scripts, good scripts, good scripts!

-Arjun rampal's screen time ! was he even present in the movie? id ad him to the list of cameos along with sanjay, priyanka and rajni. Arjun Rampal was good but there was so less of him.

-konjum konjum condom jokes! should have been avoided

-the cameos by priyanka, sanjay and rajni are not needed at all and take the story nowhere. The cameos by priyanka and sanjay are just not a good start for the movie

On september 27th 2011 google turned 13 years old .. a teenager! Lets hope this teen keeps hormone under control !

belated bday wishes to google , and a special thank you for helping me with my assignments! on the eve of its 13th bday i saw a tweet which said

The only thing Google has failed to do, so far, is fail.

what a way to wish the search giant , but hey wait a minute hasnt google failed on the social networking front? Right from orkut to Wave to buzz all have flopped big time. the all new Google+ by far the most ambitious and desperate attempt by google has generated a lot of initial interest especially thanks to their invite-only access, but hasnt the buzz died down?

well i did sign up to google plus after i was sent invites by my friends tried it for a wekk and then well i havent visited it yet!

Reasons iam not too interested in google+

no time: post on twitter , fb and g+ uff so many networking profiles to maintain ! wasn't life so much easier before when we Indians were hooked only to orkut! lolz. BTW iam still waiting for that perfect app which can integrate all 3 networking sites and simultaneous posting of status updates in simplified
None of my friends are on it!: Yup even after sending repeated invites none of my real frnds are on g+ yet. Oh forget g+ most of my friends are yet to embrace twitter !
facebook killer: another reason g+ doesn't interest me so much is the fact that it is fb killer and iam not such a huge fb addict anymore! I think g+ is better than facebook but twitter ? may be not ! atleast yet

Its not that i have completely written of google+ , maybe someday when my real friends are on it ill enjoy it more.

things i love about google+

photo sharing: Photos shared on g+ look amazing and if you use picassa then this is just for you
conversations: twitter sucks at conversations coz you cant bundle tweets together and so g+ rocks
hangouts: This feature is by far the best ! even facebook copied it and copied it quick lol

India is a vast country with different cultures, traditions, religions and languages . There is no other country as diverse as ours, and to maintain unity in such varied diversity is a problem. Having a common language for communication could have simplified the problem , but hindi our national language isn’t understood and spoken by all. So to overcome the language barrier here is my app idea to app developers the mTranslate.

The mTranslate app can translate spoken words in one Indian language to another Indian language instantly. This app can be very helpful for frequent travelers and thereby helping in building the unity of our country .

I derive the idea for this app from the hindi movie chandni chowk to china where in Deepika padukone uses a small technical device to erase lingual barriers and instantly translates Chinese to convenient hindi .

I don’t know if such apps exist , but the idea of clearly understanding my tamilian neighbor without having to take help of a third person fascinates me. This app would be very valuable for Indian users and will suit best for mobile phones and give a whole new meaning to what you call as smartphones.

To practically have a nicely working mTranslate app would be very difficult and have various problems too.The problems may be due to vast vocabularies a language has, grammar, dialects, slang etc. But this idea isnt completely impossible at least in this age of high level technical advancements .

such an app would have great importance not only in india but throughout the world, it would us a true global village where in everyone understands each other !

Translation through a technical device will obviously have accuracy problems but when compared to the benefits it offers, these errors are negligible.

My cousin frequents countries like china, turkey and Taiwan, all the time on his tour , he is accompanied by a native translator who translates stuff for him. Would an such as mtranslate help him ? Loads i say hail technology for making life simpler!

Having an app which can translate spoken voices seems to be a better idea than promoting English as an universal language and trying to make it absolutely essential o learn English. This way local languages and heritage can also be preserved .

And what about movies ? I depend heavily upon subtitles every time iam watching telugu movies ( i watch loads of them these days) and I haven't seen some quality telegu movies only because i couldn't find versions of them with subtitles. mtranslate an app which can allow you to watch movie irrespective of language, wow iam thinking too far eh ? lol

So lets wait and watch if an app such as this actually comes up, and if it does how successful would it be in solving India's communication related problems.

Unusual ways ive used my Nokia

Nokia is my fav brand when it comes to mobile phones. Many will argue that nokia is no longer the king and blackberry and iphone etc.. etc.. but iam very loyal nokiaite and ive used many nokia phones ( express music, n95, n73m and n97 mini trail) .

Here are some simple and quite unusual ways i have used my nokia mobile:

Emergency scanner: I had won a prize in online contest and had to send scanned address a nd ID proof my scanner wasnt working and it was the last day submit proof or i would lose my prize, so just used my n73 to capture a clear picture of my electricity bill cropped it and mailed it ! viola i have my prize in my hand now (ipod)

Find out if your remote is working: i Read this somewhere and try it sometimes when my remote just doesnt seem to respond

place your mobile phone camera in front of the remote control's LED press any button and see if light flashes on the camera , if light does flash the remote is working infrared rays show up on camera but not on naked eye.

As a magnifier : I have once used my nokia cameras zoom feature as a magnifier too! Not real good but you can try it for fun.

Keeping track of dates: I forgot the date when i purchased my new MP3 player, just then it struck to me that i had taken a photo on my nokia when it arrived so i looked up in the photos and found out the day it was captured! Nyc and unusal use right ;)

To do list reminder: when you write down things you need to do for the day just take a pic and save it as your mobile wallpaper or screensaver you'll never forget a thing!

As a mirror: This is quite easy and common on nokia device select use secondary camera option ( the front camera) apply lipstick, check for your hair and stuff, works great on n73m

Nokia cum flashlight: Power cuts are a normal thing in india. I was going out at 7 one night and was searching for house keys just that very moment the power was bling bling .. GONE! i was getting late couldnt search for a torch or candle, so i just used nokia as flashlight ... works well if u have your wallpaper as white or lighter colour along with high brightness and contrast enabled.

Nokia as a webcam: You can actually use your nokia cellphone as a wireless webcam. There are many application available which will allow you to do this. I haven’t tried this but my friend has and it works well for her. You can use usb or Bluetooth to do this and many free and paid applications are available for this.

IPL3: The thrilling Tie and nail biting finish!

Yesterdays match between KingsXI and Chennai super kings was nothing short of a thriller which gave IPL its first ever super over .

Chennai super kings set a target of 137 to chase were going along quite well but at a slow pace boring one and all. But the match picked up excitement when the lesser known Theron picked up two crucial wickets in a single over getting KingsXI and anxiety back into the match.

Needing 10 of the last over it was anybody’s game now. And Well the elegant and experienced pathan actually took the match into the super over making it a nail biting finish.

In the super over CSK scored 9 runs but KingsXI got the better of them scoring 10 runs winning the match.

The Victory is first for KingsXI this season was highly needed and put the smile back on priety’s face as all B-town stars are having a tough time at IPL.

To be true the match was a big huge bore and I considered sleeping too but for Irfan pathan who kept me awake to witness one of the most enthralling finishes in IPL history. The match received very little exposure on twitter but when super over came up everyone magically came alive started tweeting and Voila IPL, CSK and super over all were trending! Kings dint make it to trends probably because they don’t have a standard hashtag .

The best match of IPl so far for me was hoping for a 10Pm end instead pathan and Co give me a 12AM end. So now both Yusuf and Irfan (read RR and Kings) has wins in their kitty and can go ahead try to get into semis! Congrats to Theron on a dream debut he rocked.

CSK losing had a lot to do with the very expensive Sreesanth not playing.
Both teams dint deserve the win but still the match had to be won by someone so Kings who had done marginally better in the second half won.
Parthiv’s 50 was way too slow for a T20 game

IPL is making waves generating a lot of excitement the super over did try to get in Test match type of contest in play. Lalit Modi should be mighty happy what with two new IPL teams, the tie super over and lot of other stuff happening hail IPL!

Today people spent major chunk of daily precious times on net. And what do people do online? Apart from all the professional stuff, people spend time ganging up for mafias, watering farms, writing on walls, following people, fanning pages, scrapping and bla bla !
Search is an important part of web. Google rules the search engines market share and anyone challenging google’s dominance is also out of question leave alone displacing it. Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing tried hard but still haven’t found desirable results and the reason? People aren’t yet ready for a shift from googling to yahooing or binging!

As if the dominance among search engines wasn’t enough google now wants to rule every minuscule of world wide web space. They want to be a leader in social networking too. Google’s networking site Orkut which wasn’t anyway popular is found to be loosing market share to big wigs facebook and twitter, not withstanding the dominance Google integrated the Buzz an intelligent social networking tool into Gmail. Buzz as far as I know isnt too popular and well giving competition to biggies facebook and twitter is out of question at least for now.
This Google’s new found love for networking comes from the fact that social search is gaining popularity. People are increasingly using facebook and twitter to search for latest news and events. Facebook is trying its best to end Google’s rule and how? By partnering with Bing. Google’s acquisition strategy has played a big role in its rise to top and almost every feature of google are free or very economic to common man along with being of high quality so well no ones complaining.
Networking isn’t the only place Google wants to rule, Google wants people to use its very own browser, operating system and smart phone too. The Google browser Chrome is very popular (and good too no doubts) and the smart phone the nexus one called the iphone killer. So who is on the Google hit list Microsoft, Apple, facebook , yahoo, twitter and many more . Google has a good eye at its rivals must say and why should they not. Every net user uses Google to find and share things so no one can have a better watch on trends than Google themselves.
In a bid to make waves google also launched the very critical WAVE which well according to me wouldn’t last a day if not for its use by invitation only caption! As competition gets stiffer google still rests in peace do you think the monopoly is good?

Google maps, calendar, chat, video chat, youtube, adwords, picasa, reader, adsense, docs, blogger, etc etc … Google is doing it all!
Oh well Am I criticizing Google a lot too much? May be!
Well I guess is should stop now what if google bans me from using their search engine……………….
Aaah can’t imagine I would better be dead………..!!!
Google rules me it sure does!

Veer: Salman makes it work

With all the hype surrounding veer i must say i was disappointed ! Everything about the movie is
terrible except salman ofcourse .

The sets are grand, costumes superb (especially the royal ones worn by zarine) too many war and battle scenes, i would say watch it if you like gladiator or troy every time there was a sword out my bro was highly excited.

Salman looks amazing he should be given full credit for being brave enough to have done a
period film which doesnt seem to click these days and i cant imagine any other actor as veer salman alone could do justice to this movie, zarine looks pretty and resembles katrina in most of her scenes, sohail adds humor .

Music is great especially salaam aya and surili ankhiyon wale but i feel this track was overused.

Story could have been better, length could be shorter.
Watch it for salman.

My exam story ...

Oh well my exams on and I just realized I haven’t blogged for quite sometime now and this idea of sharing my exam experiences came up and I just could not beat the temptation of posting it now ....

Here I present to you some things I think are funny on my way to crack crazy papers

Week before exam 1st thing I do in the morning is tell myself well today I am going to start studying and well why is it really nearly impossible to study on the day you actually PLAN to do that ?? Anything more interesting crops that very day. (BTW yeah I know anything is better than studying)

Study Time table……. Aah well don’t never ever make that coz at least i never follow them !!

Why on earth do I feel sleepy just by 10: pm the day before exam, when I can sit and tweet till its 12 : am on the other days !!

Why Does the TV always have my fav movies running just the day before my exam !!

I watch movie in PVR the weekend before exams, and one starange thing i noticed is all good movies release when my exams visit me !!

After Iam finished watching a movie or if I find the movie boring (boring in the sense uninteresting ….. more boring than studying !!) I text my friends asking if they started studying and well most reply saying they haven’t !! my true true friends they are !

Twitter gets more and more fascinating (or is it monotony of exams which makes me feel so :?) and before I know an hour or so is lost tweeting (not that i mind it !)

And well whats with this one freaking friend of mine who calls to ask doubts, . She really makes me panic I mean she ask me doubt in chapter 7 or 8 when iam still stuck up with 3 rd one !! Aah ok her call does make me concentrate more but well she is a pain ...

Ok In the morning of course exam do make me get up early by 6:am and I am really amazed at how much I can study in that short period (6-9 am) almost the double of what I ve studied the day before

I mark some pages telling myself I will be studying this when I reach campus well fully knowing I just cant do that coz all I do when Iam there is chat away about what is difficult and what may come what may not, how was the movie , what type of correction this lecturer does etc etc…

One friend inquires me how much I studied and stuff and when I tell them I saw a movie and dint study well they tell me not to lie coz I said the same thing last time and ended up getting more than all of them !! (how freaking is that now i swear i watch movies and tweet before exams so what if i get highest n stuff)

And well there's this girl who gets least of them all, she tells me she dint sleep all night !!! OMG I mean no sleep still miserable marks, ok may be she was awake, but not necessarily studying!!)
And well I tell you this week with exam just does not get over seeming longer than eternity, except in the mornings time flies when I am actually seriously studying this is when I hope time ticked of a bit more slowly

Before the exam Someone asks me an answer to a question which sounds like greek to me ….. I just tell her its not important I dint even touch that part forget it , and well guess what 90% of the time that particular question has to crop up in my question paper so I can spend 3 hours cursing myself for not looking for the answer when i could have easily done that !!

And this crazy papers always seem to know what Ive studied best and all 10 markers are from what i haven't studied well and all 1 markers are on topics I can write pages about !!

Cheating : chits I never take them, as for copying from others well nobody around me seems to know the answers I need help with !! so better keep quiet and write how much I know lol

And yeah additionals what’s with these people who stare at me as if I was caught red handed cheating every time I call for an additional, and yeah one friend of mine who is writing exam in the same room is like remembers accurately how many additional I have taken when I myself forget the number !! (girl i mean dont you have better stuff to do in the exam hall concentrate on your paper aur mujhe nazar mat lagao!)

When iam out of the hall and tell my friends the paper was difficult they ask me not to lie apparently becoz this friend of mine has told all the number of additional I have taken (does number or quantity actually matter!)Oh well iam actually surprised at how much i did type in here lol , but well what I mean to say is life's tough and exams are tougher and now iam in that stage so better get going and start studying….. ofcourse like all tough times this will be over soon and then no more late night studying, stress and panic ..!!

After all this ill defo be happy to have survived the week . Wish me luck and do share your exam experiences here are they similar or different if so how ???

What makes twitter special???

From about a month or so twitter is becoming more and more special to me, now its almost impossible for me to live without tweeting. There are various reasons for twitter being special: Celebrities, friends, contests, sharing photos, videos and music, increasing traffic, instant news, trends, and the list goes on …

To start of the month of October on Gandhi Jayanti this tweet from chetan bhagat made my day or rather the whole month. Yes Chetan bhagat did start following me on twitter and after that there was only good news in store for me for the whole month and beyond …

I saw an add of tatadocomo announcing the #dietalk contest on social networking sites…. I was thrilled, dieting on words and letters talking in less than 15 characters sounded cool. But the prizes sounded cooler an Acer Betouch E101 and 8GB ipod everyday …

So I started dietalking right away. It was a lot of fun tracking all contestants and everyday after winners were announced I was more and more inspired to #dietalk. Finally on the 7^th day of the contest it was my time to rejoice, as I logged in to my twitter account around 3 pm and entered my @replies section on twitter only to be surprised to find a tweet from @tatadocomo mentioning me as the winner I was shocked, surprised, elated and in awwww all at once ..!!!!

Seeing my name in the winner’s page was the most masaaledar and memorable event of my life …..

After the #dietalk contest I kept dietalking as I was too addicted by now, and just a couple of days later I found one of my dietalk pals tweeting this

“I just entered the great giveaway @mydala. Win some of the coolest gadgets at the mydala contest page - http://bit.ly/7uMjw #mydala”

This sounded another fun contest to me I entered this contest to with nothing to lose and a lot to gain. I kept Retweeting this message for about 4 days until another surprise this time from mydala.com awaited me yes no prizes for guessing I won here too (an awesome 4GB pen drive) Cool aint it ? If your answer is yes then read along lol

Later through @flipkartdotcom I found another contest on twitter from @tempostand the #tadka contest. This is another masaledsar contest where you can win coupons from flipkart.com and well sorry to bore you but I won here too!!! Hitting a jack pot you say lol yeah kind of lady luck being very kind to me.

All these events have made me an even bigger twitter addict now, the best part is these contest have helped me in making more and more new friends and making twitter more and more special for me.

I saw wake up sid just today and deeply regretting for watching so late . This one is a brilliant movie. All i can say is fabulous and spectacular and definite watch for all especially youth.....
Ranbir and konkana rock on screen they look so real, and it is such a clean movie. Debutante director Ayan Mukerji finely portrays Sid's transformation from a Boy to a Man.
It is so real that you can not only relate to it but draw parallels with your own life. yeah there are people who will compare this one to laksya and dil cahhta hai but watch it for Ranbir who delivers an award winning perfomance.
Sid (Ranbir) a final year college student spends his dads money and is very carefree about life, he befrnds aisha (konkana) who is complete opposite to ranbir . When Sid fails in his Exam its finally time for him to wake Up!!!
Music is good, humor executed well and the movie has its emotional moments too. The best thing about wake up Sid is it gives importance and portrays all aspects of care n love by parents, true friendship and most importantly love.
So, all i would say is this excellent movie is strongly recommended!
GREAT movie must watch. A feel good film

Blue ..........
To make it short blue lacks script, has no intensity n highly predictable fails to keep you glued .
The under sea treasure hunt, the bike chase or race, Kylie and the concept of Blue gives the film an international feel.The music is not too good but Fiqraana n chiggy wiggy stand out
I would recommend you to watch discovery channel and for stunts i recommend you better watch Dhoom.
Akshay delivers another flop, kylie minogue was good but not enough for the titanicish blue from sinking.. lara was hot, and katrina what was she doing in the movie ??
Some one joked on twitter that soon doctors will be recommending to watch movies like kambhakt ishq and BLue instead of sleeping pills and now i agree 100 % with this i felt incredibly sleepy all through the movie and me and my sister spent most of the time nudging my bro for forcing us into this movie of all (all the best ,main aur mrs khanna, wake up sid) .
BLUE has style and incredible star cast too, visual splendour of the sea is captured well.
All in all its a big disappointment,Watch it if you're a die-hard action freak like my bro who forced me into this .......
if you really want to watch then watch without expectations.

Obama n his nobel win

President Barack obama was awarded the nobel peace prize this year apparently for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," !!!!.
My first reaction when i got this news on twitter was "for what !!!!" Well according to me its a bit too early for him win the nobel prize.
Ok before u get it wrong i am certainly not an Obama hater ... i love him seriously, i had made a post congratulating him on his presidential win, but what the hell he won for what, he was 2
weeks in office when he was nominated (nominations ended on feb 1st). I guess obama won the nobel peace prize for great campaining!

My question is Who is next after Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize --Osama?
Isnt this ridiculous and embarrassing for the Nobel peace prize, does it not degrade the importance of such an honour ?

If Obama refused to accept the prize then
That would be the honorable thing to do

Just saw wanted last night and have to say Salman R-O-C-K-S right from the word go ….It was very contending to watch a good bollywood movie after a long time , especially after the hollywoodish Kaminey which defo was not for me, I hated the violence and the genere too but Wanted is also action packed but it does not fail to impress me.

Excellent movie full on action family entertainer perfect bollywood masala flick. If salman impresses as a hit man Ayesha takia is good too. Salman playing a gangster Radhe who works only for money bhai and there is Ayesha who plays chalti phirti cocaine jhanvi, Mahesh Manjekar playing the lusty bad cop all impress, acting wise the film is good

Wanted being a remake of a Telgu hit film Pokiri is a perfect film for sallu to silence his critics and now he is definitely back with a bang… Though I haven’t seen Pokiri and I don’t even watch too many south flicks but I still feel this feel has a south Indian touch thanks to the director Prabhudeva who does his Bollywood debut with style and great perfection.

Wanted has all the elements of a hit film very good mix of action, romance, comedy, great songs superb choreography and a mind-blowing climax too.

And if you want comparison I place ‘Wanted’ on par with Ghajini and Om shanti Om. Its a very clean movie with some good scenes to look forward to like the one in the train between Ayesha and salman, the one where the international Don gyani has been arrested by Asraf khan and is not allowed to sleep n when gyani tries toi escape only to find himself in a boat LOL!!! But some scenes are too childish like the one in lift where they talk about Vicco..

The end result being you surely should not be missing this one especially if you like south Indian movies or if you are a Salman fanatic. But if you are not into hardcore Action please avoid it.

Twitter is already 3 years old but still there is a huge lack of Indian related trending topics
I was initially not very interested in twitter and didn't really get what the point was and was not very impressed with this new tool of networking in 140 characters . But now I am writing this post as a twitter addict.
This blog post just to describe the amazing experience i had this independence day.
Given the swine flu scare and a death in Bangalore most schools and colleges decided not to celebrate Independence day this so we had a holiday. I felt bad missed all the elaborate celebrations which marked I-Day every year but guess what it was a blessing in disguise as this time I had the best independence day ever. celebrating independence day on twitter, this was probably the first of its kind nobody before may have celebrated independence day on twitter
The celebration included display of patriotism on twitter by using twibbons and the main aim being to make #india trend .Most Indians had made it their mission to make
India trend

It all started approximately around a week before independence day when I and some other tweeps posted about our desire to make #india trend on independence day as a gift to our motherland ...That was the beginning! I started randomly following Indians on twitter urging them to use twibbons and #india in every tweet. Since then hundreds of people have tweeted and retweeted about #india actually making it trending even before Independence day i.e on 14th august.

"At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, then an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, ..." was what Jawaharlal said on our very first independence day but Indians on twitter decided that at the stoke of midnight when the world sleeps(not that the whole world was asleep in fact most of the tweeps were very well awake as it was not midnight in their part of their world ) Indians shall stay awake to get #india to trends .... n well that actually did happen (as my frnds told me especially @jerryjose7) though i wasnt fortunate enough to witness it because of rain and power cut in Bangalore at around the same time!!!
On the 15th of August the #india mania continued and almost out of the blue there was SRK also trending, apparently Shahrukh Khan was detained and questioned for about 2 hours by US immigration officials reportedly only for his name being Khan while that is all a different story what actually was inspiring was the fact that
at one point on August 15th they were 3 Indian topics trending (Happy independence, #india and SRK)

All through the day day the crazze and madness prevailed with some tweeps actually passed the 100updates /hr limit of twitter.And all the westerners were wondering why on earth was #india trending. Even after given the fact that the trending was forced there was no spamming from any tweep as long as i know while we tweeted amazing facts about India which we ourselves never knew, the India mania was sort of like having real short conversations with like minded people, and some who are not.Reading and tweeting tweets some evoking patriotism some increasing your GK some giving you links and some tweets were of course downright funny. Also taking Independence day quiz, discussing about India's problems and their solutions.
But there were people who questioned us if it was right to give so much importance to trends : firstly Trending topics are becoming a very important part of the Twitter experience, I don't care about most of the Trending Topics, but I would definitely want #india a nation of a billion heads to trend at least on its independence day.
Brand Obama used Social Media, including Twitter, to build a fan base to win the US presidential Election ; according to report 25% of those who voted for Obama were linked to him via one or more of his online networks. And for those who questioned if it was right to force the trending,and were of the view that we should let it happen naturally, please tell me how many topics on twitter are trending without force and most of the trending topics are fully forced or contain a lot of spam and nonsense.
Twibbons is one twitter application of sorts i never used but i ended up using this and encouraging others to use it too, it was such a pride to see Tricolours all across twitterverse. I was so immersed in trends and twitter that i dint bother to log in to facebook or Myspace or even check my mails
Having connected to some really great Indians tweeps(for the record let me tell you I had some 50+ mails in my inbox from Topify), we rocked and partied hard so much so
by the end of this day all Indian tweeps were damn tired and were no longer interested in tweeting for the sake of trending infact even i wanted independence from this mission of tweeting for independence itself!!

As a pessimistic thought I would also like to add the fact that #india of course could never make it to the top of twitter trends LOL!! also I am perfectly aware of the fact that making India trend on twitter is no big deal and it will not solve any problems of our country, we have other serious issues like illiteracy, poverty, swine flu recession and the list is endless But still there is a sense of pride for making it to the trends like every achievement of an Indian .
(BTW, Trending Topics are the Top Ten topics people are talking about on Twitter, tending Topics list reveals the brands or topics that are accelerating on Twitter and for those who don't know what twitter is then well all i can say is you are missing out on a lot of fun go right away and register here and join the troop of maniacs www.twitter.com )

It is more than 63 years now that we achieved Independence from the British rule and today our country stands at power with US and UK We are competitive enough to face the world. Yes India has its short comings, there is poverty, illiteracy, recession, global warming, swine flue, racial and religious differences, terrorism, and so much more . but we have learnt to fight against all odds.
we have more reasons to be proud of our country then not to be if India has its negative then tell me which country is perfect, so today instead of talking of about corruption and malpractices rampant in Indias lets be positive and talk about the spirit of being an Indian. Every single achievement however big or small makes us proud of being an Indian,Be it when we win a cricket match or AR Rahman winning the oscars, or abhinav Bindra winning gold at Olympics or even when Nano is launched, the sense of being Indian and achieving great feat is evident but tell me which country doesnt
We can proudly say we brought the IT revolution
We Indians are tolerant, optimistic people and we have a never say die spirit. we have a positive frame of mind and we never give up do we ??We are unique and we are different and we feel a sense of pride calling ourselves Indians

Our celebs (read India) endorse a number of brands ,from cars to chocolates ,mobile communications to soft drinks they are selling it all.
The most powerful and impacting brand ambassadors include SRK, Dhoni, Sachin tendulkar, Sania Mirza, Amitabh Bachan, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya rai,but who is the most priciest of them all ???
Reports say that the Badshah of Bollywood who endorses a variety of brands like Pepsi, Airtel, Tag heuer,etc had earned at least four times as much from endorsements as he earned from Rab ne Bana di jodi his only movie of 2008
But Do celebrities really help a brand? the most probable answer would be yes, Celebrity endorsement can do wonders for a brand, especially in india as we are a clebrity obsessed country, India is filled with Fan following, who can forget how Sachin helped make boost a household name would that be possible without sachin endorsing it??
But don't you think adds are all about creativity, in fact most of my fav advertisements don't have celebs at all.

I remember last year there was this new SRK add which my Friend had seen n was telling me about it and i immediately felt the urge to see this add not to forget iam a crazy SRK fan too, i like waited for the add to air without changing the channel just to catch a glimpse of it, i would definitely not have done it if it was not for a celeb.
Bollywood and cricket the 2 biggest things in India n sell like hot cakes.India has always idolized its celebs, so it makes sense for a brand to procure a celebrity for its endorsement. Today, nearly twenty percent of the advertising industry utilizes celebrity endorsement..Advantages of a celebrity endorsing a Brand include Credibility, Attention, higher recall value and Mass Appeal.
Last year, cricketer M S Dhoni and Shah Rukh were among the top celebrities endorsing maximum products.While SRK most probably reamains the king even in the add world other very prized brand ambassodors from bollywood include Amitabh bachan and Aamir khan, while most preferred female brand ambassadors are Katrina , Aishwarya rai and Deepika.

T20 world cup : Pakistan Go for the final kill

After a smashing end to the 2nd season of IPL here again we are all given another dose of T20 cricket, 20-20 world cup. The over dose of T20 cricket courtesy IPL had already dismissed my intrest in any non-Indian matches. Now anyway... I Can't believe India are out though i never expected them to win the cup but not reaching the semis is not what i imagined. So now that India are out of the cup and the second T20 world cup final today between Pakistan and Srilanka congrats to both the teams for reaching the finals.
I am really happy for both the Asian countries who are linked by
recent tragedy in cricket world.It is ironical the fact that how destiny can play its game just some days back cricket between these two teams was disrupted by terrorist activity but today they are here playing each other in the finals of a prestigious ICC event !!

Just 18 days ago Pakistan lost to their arch-rivals India in the warm up games and now 18 days later India is back home while Pakistan miraculously in the final of the T20
World cup for the second time in a row.Actually when it comes to Pakistan i am more suprised than happy to see them make it to the finals the fact to see is will the runner ups of
the last edition be second time lucky and take the cup home the odds are in favour of Srilanka and many are counting on Srilanka to win but for a change iam cheering for Pakistan.

This win for pak will again awaken the hopes of sanity in politically unstable and wartorn Pakistan if cricket takes over again. so Iam supporting pakistan to go and win the cup this time around . But its going to be an all Asian finals at ICC T20 World Cup even this
time around so the cup is not going anywhere other than asia irrespective of the fact that who wins.

This year Pakistan will really like to change the history and win the ICC World Twenty20

I will be supporting Pakistan team ...

My best wishes for pakistan to win the tournament so that their dream of 1992 becomes a reality once again.It is the ideal time for Pakistanis to put themselves back on the map where they belong.

I am back blogging........
This time around iam going to write about sports and no its not cricket but iam writing with as much passion as i would write for cricket , coz iam a very big Federer fan .....
Today iam on top of the world yeah at last Federer has done it he won the french open on his fourth try defeating Soderling who had eased rogers way to top by halting defending champ nadal.
Federer now has won all grand slams US open(5 times), wimbledon(5times), and australian open(thrice) and this being his 14th grand slam titles equalling sampras record also he is the only sixth man tocomplete a career Grand Slam .Now Roger will be eyeing his 15th title at wimbledon.
I had almost quit blogging but all Roger his win urged me to blog and here iam scribbling sorry typing crap just because i feel like shouting out loud and celebrating Rogers win
So so Roger Federer: Congratulations for your 14th grand slam championship, Expectations were high, Pressure was on you to win this trophy and you proved what greats are made of by winning though you won it easily. Mark Robin had no chance out there He was
out-played, out-classed.
There is great debate of whether Roger is the best tennis player ever SO Now should we consider him the best ever?? Everybody has their own answers but i officially crown Federer the greatest men's tennis player ever after this historic accomplishment on many levels Congratulations to Mirka and baby-Federer too!

Hello everybody the very best thing about summer is the IPL crazze is very much on though in South Africa.
If you've read my previous post you would know i am cheering for Royal challengers bangalore (RCB) coz i am a very loyal bangalorean lolls!!

My brother was supporting Chennai super kings and the reason it had COOL Dhoni in it (no not me its my bro who thinks he's cool)
My sister was supporting Mohali only because it had DASHING Yuvraj and CUTE Irfan in it !!!
My maternal cousin a bollywood freak and die hard SRK KI FAN was cheering for Kolkata Knight Riders coz it was owned by SRK..

And my friends Rajasthan for Yusuf (impeccable) n warne (confident n sure)Deccan Chargers for Rohit, Afridi and Adam Gilchrist.
ok now getting back to myself though I was supporting RCB but i was not really sure of RCB's chances of winning IPL2 even after the inclusion of pieterson but yesterday's match has changed it dramatically n i now believe Bangalore has a fair chance to win if it plays the same way. Apart from Bangalore I am supporting Mumbai Indians too for i am a Sachin fan.

So jai ho RCB keep winning!!

But Every time I cheer for a team, they lose!! so this time, i am am going to support every other team which performs well too!!!

IPL:Action begins in South Africa as Bangalore inflict Royal upset

Hi everybody posting after a very long time due to exams and vacations
But here I am back doing what i love - blogging
This time again its cricket and the talk of the season IPL, I'm too engrossed in IPL to even talk about anything else.

Yeah IPL is definitely the talk of the season if you dont believe me then read this IPL website 4th most visited in the world, and if you have a twitter account just log or search for #IPL to see almost every one tweeting about IPL could cricket really be the worlds most popular sport? hmm waiting for that day..
So the second season of IPL has begun though its not happening in India thanx to elections which i believe is plain nonsense (sorry my personal view) and modi believes IPL has stretched its wings to a new territory. The relocated IPL2 is already under way and its definitely a hit as cricket already unaffected by recession has been warmly recieved and day 1 just left me asking for more.

In the first match Mumbai Indians V/s chennai super kings mumbai beat Chennai by 19 runs in IPL opener in Cape Town. I am really happy coz I am a very big sachin fan and Sachin today batted like god making 59 winning himself man of the match award

In the 2nd match Bangalore Royal Challengers V/S Rajesthan Royals an well guess what RCB won it and won how they trashed the defending champions in royal style, having had a bad start with bat i'd given up hope when the score read something around 65-4 but only shimmer of hope was Dravid and yes he did perform and deservedly got man of the match award proving all oldie critics wrong.
Rajasthan lost by 75 runs scoring only 58 the lowest ever IPL score, also there was only One Four in their IPL Innings and Kumble also set the record for Most Economic Bowling. Warne terms the defeat embarrassing.

The first day of the IPL2 match was thoroughly enjoyable, (especially coz i am cheering for RCB) 2 upsets on the very first day proving once again that cricket is a game of uncertainty and what makes ipl even more exiting is the fact that both the teams who started with defeats in the first season, have started this year's campaign with comfortable wins and the two finalists have been humbled.
And for those who think T20 is for youngsters Sachin and Dravid are MOMs for day 1 of IPL II, with Anil kumble claiming 5 wickets to get second best bowling figures in IPL, Iconic Players rocked day 1 proving No matter what the canvas, it is always the hand of the artist that matters.
Other than cricket cheerleaders were on top of their job the opening ceremony was a *yawn* i mean ok types but not as good n great as the Bangalore one last year. Bollywood entertainment was visibly missing.

Top seeds lost.. that makes IPL interesting this year its going to be fun to watch this time!
