Google I/O Extended 13 and my live blogging of the event

I wanted to document the progression of the activities and talks at the event as I am one of the attendees. The post should grow as time goes by.

10:35 am - We're starting with a presentation on Google Fiber by Jack Wang.

Google Fiber is 100 times faster than the average internet connection. We're looking at a YouTube video explaining it. When they implemented it in Kansas City.

I was aware of their developments in a exhaustive way but was still interested by being put into the topic with similarly-minded individuals.

They use coaxial wiring to upgrade a location with such a service. Google TV is a natural extension of such works. There was a 6 weeks rally. 200 Fiberhoods in Kansas City. For each one, there was schools, libraries,

In 6 weeks, 72% awareness, 180 fiberhoods to be installed, 21% of total households.

10:51 am - Q&A about its potential availability in Canada. There is one Quebecer on the Fiber team.

11:02 am - We're proceeding with a free Q&A session as we're going a bit too fast on the schedule. There's a focus on Montreal's operations concerning Chrome's security, which is one of the main sectors of activity.

11:04 am - Montreal participated in code optimization. One employee can testify as having worked for Translate. He was the first Quebecer to work for Google.

11:24 am - "Why can't I set Canary as the default browser, which is not allowed?" asked +Renaud Lepage. I answered him referring to a Google Groups discussion concerning the matter.

11:30 am - Talking about WebRTC and how it can't be totally integrated so they can have the most open source technologies available for developers and users. Lunch is following a final question.

11:32 am - Personalization of Google Accounts and the way they are dealing with international entities and organizations to get privacy done right in each country. As well as with paying for one of their service and how the data is isolated and available to the user.

11:33 am - Q: What is CBC's solution on Google Apps? A: We don't know the specifics.

11:33 am - In hopes I will be able to transmit the talk in audio format as well during lunch, I am trying to keep up with my devices acting up and slowing the realtime documentation down.

Android Studio to help developers build way more rapidly. With IntelliJ tech. Nice UI with semantic view of your code. An IDE that will give extra tools with highlighting and referencing. Layouts are going to be editable in real time with multi-configuration editing.

Distribution and monetization. Two Android developers are going on stage to talk about the topic. Developer Console and the feedback was used to integrate 5 new features.

Optimization tips
How to do it a bit better and improve the app for the customers. Encourage users based on known methodologies.
App Translation Service
Directly accessible in the developer console so the user doesn't need to shop for such a company.
Referral Tracking
Which ads are most effective or where are the people coming from when coming to the Play Store for your app. Soon the analytics will be directly in the developer console (later in the summer).
Revenue Graphs
Summary of your apps' revenue, as well as data that is country-specific
Beta Testing & Stage Rollouts
Not posted as public reviews, and lets you manage the rollout by percentage

Changes to the Play Store
Recommendations, the already-changed UI. Same types of recommendations, but it will feature enhancements as tablet-only recommendations, which were previously available as a manually written subsection.

Improvements are also brought to the web as well.

Play Music All-Access
What would be the changes to Play Music. Why managing my queue would feel like a chore. Initially, two years ago there was the locker. And now, 13 countries are able to purchase music from the store itself. What are said changes.

Explore, radio without rules
Everything starts here. Featured content, new releases, genres, subgenres and recommendations based on these choices. Start a radio station based on that with the ability to preview the next songs, remove them through a swipe and changing the order of such tracks in its radio playlist. $9.99 a month with a month trial, and if you try in advance, $7.99 a month.

My Library
Users will be able to add songs in its library.

Listen Now
Instant gratification with the listening of music in a minimal of steps.

Works on the web and on tablets as well.

Most of what was talked about as of now is available on other platforms and devices and it is pleasant to see that Google brings all of them in such a pattern. These capabilities on Android are equating those of iOS in that sense.

Chrome on the Pixel and on Android is getting a WebGL push to motivate people to bring 3d renders in a faster rate and on all available computing platforms. This will obviously generate more adoption on the browser side, something Microsoft wasn't totally able to promote their implementation as efficiently with IE9 and IE10.

Speed, Simplicity, Security
Nitro V8 has grown to be even faster with 24% on the desktop and 57% on mobile in a year. I know that Chrome Experiments were numerous and with impressive results already. They are also pushing for mainstream knowledge of WebP. Facebook and G+ are actually using it already. WebP supports animated GIFs as well.

H.264 vs VP9
WebM is also pushed in the presentation to ensure devs are on the same page and confirm how the two file formats were great acquisitions of technologies, even though it took some years to have public statements ready. Data compression on Chrome for Mobile shows a 46% reduction in data use.

Standardizing checking out on web pages. They are building a toolkit to help optimize the web with g-app, may it be the content or applications. For all form factors and devices.

Racer
Plays on all platforms from a modern and compatible browser. The race track is actually synced between the different devices that were shown with audio transitions between each of them.

A small movie about the evolution of the web made me strangely think of a video called Epic 2015 if I remember well.

Education and Google (Google Play for Education)
Schools are using Google Apps. They want to improve the tech and use cases currently present on the market... by having a Play Store based on these needs for accessibility and handpicked recommendations depending on their school grades and levels. Books and educational videos are also available. Coming are app submissions for it and in the education sandbox.

Chromebooks in Education
A use case for 4G connectivity to Malaysian students so they can have computing in the schools. This effort resembles Bill Gates' own initiatives in a not-so-distant past. We could say that fortunately for these students, the actual model used to help organizations and individuals in the public education school system. May it be in the form of new computers or great software with cloud connectivity, they will gain a market and additional 'testers' so they can have the best products available for the 2020s.

Another video promoting Google Hangouts and the social glue that links their current projects and applications together in a new way. Under 2 years, the number of users have greatly increased with 41 new features.

Streams
Newly designed streams, multi-columns design.

A new stream based on design and depth. You can revert back to a single column if wanted. Auto-resizing of each element as it was seen on the mobile version of the app. A flip animated post reminded me of Reader's Flip feature. Related hashtags with automatic parsing by the system of G+ posts. It now has a ranking system based on the personalization steps the user took. Image analysis, surely thanks to Google's Goggles, is now helping the social network organize the content.

Hangouts

Half the content is shared privately on G+. A new standalone app with take care of all hangouts. Most used contacts on top. Conversations can be taking place during long periods. The ability to save the conversations.

Photos

Backup
The importance of photos in people's lives. It can be labor-intensive. Time that some don't have. A proposition is to use their cloud servers for automatically processing photos.

15 GBs at full size now or indefinitely. 8 MPs photos is the maximum regular size.

Polish, Turkish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese are the added languages. Even more answers. The whole Google Now experience being slowly integrated on desktops. The queries could actually refer to your own life versus something that actually exists from a third-party resource elsewhere on the web.

Converse
Conversational search versus Keyword search. Now coming to all desktops through the Chrome browser (or Chrome OS). Hotwording instead (with OK Google, a bit like they did for the conversational system of Google Glass).

Anticipate
The speed to which the queries are entered and interpreted will make it a winner for casual users. Height to be able to ride an attraction for a use case example was great. Reminders and sending of emails through Google Now will simply make it more familiar to Siri users, and maybe even kill it efficiently based on their respective offerings.

Another example was to show the tester pictures from her last trip to New York. Again, familiar features almost an exact copy to Facebook's, although it is actually buit into Search/Now instead of Google+, which should be an eventual additional option in the near future.

Zagat scores are having a changing value in their representation, and used for different and additional signals. Swipe to go through all the different results. Integration with Google Offers with a layout that enables the user to do so in Maps directly instead of opening an additional app for the feat.

Again, the recommendation-based system will surely help optimize the spending of casual surfers and app users. I am interested in the way they profile the users. I see this as a way to save on bandwidth as well. Getting an interesting feel on how Google would be hiding the material the user would theoretically not interact with, but there must be a balance in how much to suggest vs. what is to be hidden.

Upgrade to directions, Google Earth in a browser helped by technologies that seem similar to what Apple used for their own version of the mapping software. And now, the collection of that data is enhanced even more with 3D models generation of buildings and interiors thanks to the uploaded user photos. Photosynth found a friend with similar interests now.

4:33 pm - We're currently listening to the last talk about the ways a coder can optimize CSS and JS code on web page to have canvas used efficiently for animations, games or whatever uses dynamic graphics. How Chrome deals with the method and the biggest issues that comes with manipulating a high number of static and moving images.

Research, Think and Act

Fear of failure as they say, not disclosing my thoughts after so many years of work on Social Media. Some would say it is because I tend to be reserving them, but for what or who exactly? What would benefit me in gathering, consuming, and being formed by that content? Let me give you a couple of words in relation with that topic..

Sharing is caring. For what exactly? Helping producers generate advertising revenues? I don't see that as being that interesting unless you're actually participating in that business model (Help me and I'll help you).

The mainstream users who are not in any way understanding of these concepts can be obviously 'used' to achieve success. They don't necessarily represent how systems should work but is a temporary indicator on how to monetize content. Think of how the Mainstream Media plays their cards for the 'general public.'

Based on that, I am willing to expose myself a bit more to weight in on all the misconceptions that are running for the hearts and minds of the average netizen. I am planning to use some services to obtain validation for my writing, even though their eventual shutdowns are making it difficult by the year to have confidence in them as an early adopter.

It's like I would have to be using them intensely for the duration of their lives to feel better about them, and to be angrier at their demise when they can't afford to let me work and play. In any case, there is answers all around to not feel as such. Being desensitized on a daily basis by the death of the free, on the land and lawn of the profitable mower, in a crave. I am for leveraging failing products by offering them to a hardcore base of fans, which with the natural attributions can deploy human resources for their ideological progress.

Maybe these following up programmers and companies can actually reuse such code at a later time, giving credit to those who believed in their web application.

5 months already since my last post here: what's happening?

I feel weird, like my mind was off. As active as I was online, it went down dramatically in new ways, in lazier days.

An growing inability versus posting, a third round never won in this fighting game where sponsoring is the ultimate excuse to keep having a passion for commenting, thinking.

More arrays, audio posts, visuals, a ritual, multiple links and a cloud of presence being exhaled in a minimalistic fashion, a strange walk, affected by unspoken curses, I seem to have being away on IM clients for 2 years. Am I?

From life, from projects, an escape route to, in 3 lines micro-paragraphs, put in line some headshots, a critic of my unfinished work.

A fork planted in my shoulder, defining I'm growing older, to return to the state of loop, the repeating day, which was once used for more, but now used to explain my current seasoning.

Me and 'unknown you', we could do much more, I'd be having some direct inspiration, a special tone, influence and accent on everything I touch. Hoping it'll one day be platinum gold. A Prince may get off my Techypnopop lawn, as it already destroyed profit and success by having an interesting but unbalanced through time business model to which I can't refer anymore.

A week that has been challenging, the change of homes, which has been the particular switch of cycle, the emotional barrier hopping. This would explain everything, how I would have since childhood being an hyperactive kid so I can now say I shot myself in the foot by touching a computer, 20 years ago? Better for him, but done for her? You could have cake, and not me? No, no, no!

Will I am almost convinced things are going for the better, that e-depression of yours shouldn't last, but whose really listening? But it obviously is hard to portray to someone whose not in the know about an electronic (and probably not important to them) dilemma.

Little music video I did by experimenting with the audio environment The Junsui concedes around and by doing a bit of a tribute by composing a song from it. We can hear the various Alfa-Tsentr prison sounds as the Japanese voice-overs for the Shineisei Japan New Health Center, we can see the various pictures and references used in the concept here affirming some kind of summary of the media it had when I looked into it.

After reading much on the topic, I seem to get back to where I started.

Since I lost access by redirection to the 174.133.240.117 URL, I seem to want to have more. Seeing the lady from a suggestion my brother made me had a hold on me, I was unable to stop looking. Then came the Facebook page, the Alfa-Tsentr reference, the Japanese health center: I was suddenly overwhelmed by many questions:

If it's an ARG, a concept I learned only today, then it includes some elements and features I don't know. What's the point in playing it? What's the investigation about? Who's "The Enemy"? Having myself learn about early 20th century Russia and have the Junsui have affinities with Fusako Shigenobu made it very clear, I was interested. Why those details, what's the background info on that?

I then stopped caring, after keeping a watch on those different streaming scenes from that center. Boom! I found out of the unfiction and wikidot pages, giving me the intel I missed through embedded pictures in the videos, on the requested test sample kits they tried to order, on the theoretical phrase "Find Friend Junko In Mnajdra Then Broadcast".

I love how the situation is portrayed. If I was to help her, I would devote myself to a lot of things, but the activity, being real or not, is somehow stopping me. I first thought it would be some kind of JJ Abrams movie, but the constant warnings on the topic has given me the doubts to continue thinking about it.

I looked at the cached page of a YouTube account that was opened a couple of days before THENFRIEND appeared on the stage. THENFRIEND's YouTube account, at the time, was pretty small by having 118 profile views, but went as being the #38 most viewed in Russia. Any understanding why?

This account was created on July 20th, 2009 which is somewhat recently, but the idea was maybe dropped for the Vimeo account maybe until the other YT videos came in. Specifying she is a Russian girl, she lives in Malta, in the middle of the Mediterranean sea...

The THENFRIEND video on Vimeo was uploaded 13 days ago, which is around the 10th of August, but the account was also created in July.

My investigation went further when looking at who was subscribed at the time, which surprised me as no one seemed directly in the know.

First sub looked at: NighthawkDF

Some normal user at first sight. When I looked at his said homepage, all I can see was first, the address (brainclouds.net/Darklight) which is somewhat related in perceiving sense through nothing. Walking the edge of reality, a look behind the curtain of his world. Someone linked to ARG. His post from July 15th, 2009, explains that David Flor, the author, was unable to present himself to ARGFest-o-Con this year, and was obliged to let his "partner-in-crime", Lauren Soffer, be there to represent. Darklight Interactive is the name of the company.

Funny thing, his latest post talks of a new site project he's been working on for some years, the "adult social network portal" with some winks, calling the shots by foreseeing a presence in the press some time soon.

His YouTube account presents as a contact Magibon, the most subscribed Director from Japan. concussionslayer, who's in the meantime explaining some stuff about her latest ARG idea is there. She has an account since August 18th, which is a bit odd. BROADCASTMNAJDRA, the YouTube account, for the video hints and setup.

The late TatsuOyama, whose only seen reply was: "Sup brother. Much love and peach for 2008!".

theineffabelle got my attention by also being linked to ARGs and confirmed my need in learning more about those Alternative Reality Games.

If I get back to that lady, Mrs. Shigenobu, I see that her daughter played in a movie that's about suicide: She appears in Nobuyuki Oura's movie "9/11-8/15 Japan Pack Suicide". My constant interest in finding 9/11 anywhere tingled me. So much information for something I still don't understand yet, as all those users mumbling about monitoring websites and all. Where the conspiracy goes?

Hypogeum of Ħal-Saflieni in Paola, Malta, confirmed the supposed origin of the lady, in the oldest prehistoric underground temple in the world, which is amazing to learn, and the perfect scene to develop a storyline.

I went even further by finding the name of the company who did the flash on at least the Japanese New Health part of it on http://junsui.shineisei.jp/ which I won't name here for the ARG integrity purposes.

And after some reading, lots of confirmed data.

I never knew that those games existed, and it seems like great fun. Being past some flickr pics, slides from someone who paints stuff similar in style to her profile pic. The emersong username, the combat against "infiltrators" by putting disinformation. Was that the plan?

In any case, after reading they can be massive time wasters, I confirm having one less weekend. More on this later. ;p

I'm doing myself a favor here. I seem out of place when blogging. At first, it was easy to come up with ideas. Now, it seems the more I want to blog, the harder it is to accomplish. Why?

Too much topics! I was, before this revelation in web usage of mine through social media and the like, a power user. I did heavy stumbling, noting, reports, all manually. Without tools, without anything kept on mysterious servers and mirrors worldwide, I formed a data base most people would be interested in viewing. But now in this "zillion"-pages mess, I sense a need to talk about everything at once, and that stopped me from blogging actively. Even if it's not a day-to-day occurence, I'll post smaller things like comments as I stopped using my blog for posting news articles. Hope it gets the best of me!

When looking at Noah's situation there with his TheAntiChrist account no twitter, I wondered, was that a as-called conspiracy of people watching him and destroying his flow of information?

Unfortunately, even the account was suspended for investigative purposes.

After realizing this was something I could investigate, as I did alot of political research earlier in my life ('04-'06), I came to recognize that one way to destroy Noah would simply be by blocking him so much he'll get suspended, but what about the RSS then? Noah was showing off how the procedure was conducted: log in, check your profile, then RSS, get back and get into another account... weird. Was even that from the same email? If not, there's no way it could've transfered to the other account. Else, then it's the cookies as from the link to this post. But then it's from the server or from his computer that the mod took place. Multiple sessions? Erroneous situation? Here's one great story into those technicalities.

Looked at Twitter's thoughts on the topic and this came out of suspended accounts, and I quote:

Well, if it is the case, maybe having multiple accounts can be 'dangerous' if cross-linked around other personal accounts. But as they said, if it's unjust (Noah's far from spam, unless, like me, you're following all his accounts to be sure ;p ) he simply has to call it, they'll know for sure to stop any future events, or attempts at this, again, flow of information, and not flow of products or marketing schemes.

I remember that show now, it's a great image edit sourced from krgaskins on flickr. If that was the case, politics would look rather funny, to engage them in less-than-serious matters. Love the little slide there of orange on that particularly interesting project from one university I don't recall on spot. It did great shots with my pictures and I have experimented with pics from the web.

The result: madness! Enjoy custom situations for a lot of games that he did modify, all thanks to the power of homebrew apps. Recommended for 'all-hacks' fans. He's in fact my brother and I do want to support him in all his adventures. I must say that being a geek for so long shows much in that process. As good as I was with computers, he is with his Wii.
