The Synopsis
Underworld Awakenings brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D.

Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out-war to eradicate both immortal species.

My thoughts?
Well, weirdly enough I had just re-visited the first movie less than 2 weeks ago so the storyline was nice and fresh for me. Underworld Awakenings picks straight up on the storyline where it stopped at the last movie – which is something I always like to see. On the flip side – let me call it a ‘shut eyes’ movie. Lots of fighting, lots of blood – I really am a wimp when it comes to this sort of stuff. In fact the words “what am I doing in this movie theatre” were heard partway through the movie! Kate Beckinsale looks fabulous (I was also heard to say – wish I could ‘pull off that outfit”) and she certainly can ‘attack’ and ‘kill off’ werewolves ‘easily’. All installments of the movies are pretty much alike, lots of action with a basic story line.

What’s new with her this year? Well…she’s just done an episode for one of the MediaCorp programs “Point of Entry“. Her episode is going air on the 2nd of February 2012 (which happens to be tomorrow!).

Currently she’s working on a film in Singapore called “The Gran Plan” – and later this year will be doing more theatre.

A Portfolio Shoot with Tania Mukherjee

What is my big new thing for 2012? I get to use a Hasselblad HD4-31. Thank you Hasselblad! I hope to do you all proud! It flew in from Copenhagen a few weeks ago – I picked it up – then yesterday, I booked a studio and played with it. I enlisted a photographer friend, Wei Li for the morning to show me around the camera – thanks Wei Li! I really appreciate it. And I grabbed a friend, Derrick Siu from Power98 to sit for me. Thanks Derrick! And of course I had my fabulous assistant Diana J on hand… (thumbs up!).

So…my learnings so far…

1) A Hasselblad is fabulous in a studio. I’ve heard someone call it ‘the Master’ in a studio.
2) You need to use Phocus.
3) To make your workflow easy – hook the Hasselblad up to your laptop/computer on location and sync directly into Phocus.
4) You can view and edit on the spot – working with an assistant makes this a dream shoot!
5) The detail is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
6) You need to watch your ‘perspective’. My same angles when using another camera creates a totally different picture with the Hasselblad.
7) Take your time! The files are too large to just ‘snap away’ without care.

It was a great night – timed perfectly to catch up with friends who hadn’t seen each over the Christmas/New Year period. The night included a fashion show featuring multi-labels, clientelle of Heat Branding including Jim Thompson, Han Culture and Inner Desire Lingerie, cuban inspired cocktails and great music at Lucky 13.

This event was held at Home Club back in December to announce the Top 12 “Hall of the Infamous” winners of After Hours Athletes.

Shots all around, games against the finalists and polls entertained the crowd on the night! A big congrats to one of my friends, Estelle who won the category of “Smooth Talker” go baby!…

Edward graduated from Kingston University in 1993 and began his professional career as a floor broker on the London International Financial Futures Exchange (LIFFE) floor with GNI in early 1994. Edward joined Fuji International Finance in 1996 and in 1998 he was transferred from London to Singapore to help build up the futures team on the Singapore International Mercantile Exchange (SIMEX).

After the merger of Fuji and IBJ, Edward was Senior Vice President Floor Broking at Mizuho International until 2005. In 2005, with the advent of electronic trading in Singapore, Edward joined Saxon Financials as a trader, trading numerous different markets for Saxon before moving into management in 2007.
