Anyhow, I digress…just wanted to let you know that Body Butter is out with new packaging. Brighter colours and fewer words feature on the label, making it a simpler, cleaner approach. The top of the packaging features beautiful photography which aims to highlight the natural ingredients within each particular Body Butter. And you know how I like beautiful photography!

And no! The formulas haven’t changed – it’s just the packing!

The “all Originals, Leave a Legacy” campaign is all about celebrating icons – whether it’s the enduring iconic adidas styles, as seen on numerous celebrities such as Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, B.o.B and Niki Minaj or via all adidas fans who have their own unique, all Originals style.

adidas is inviting fans to showcase their unique street looks via the adidas Singapore Facebook page or at certain in-store locations throughout the months of May and June. To participate fans need to photograph themselves in their adidas Originals look and upload their photo on the adidas Singapore Facebook page, via the “Leave a Legacy” Facebook application.

A unique photo stage will be set up, complete with photographer, quirky street props and street scnes to assist fans in snapping their best street style. The top 20 most popular looks will walk away with a SGD$1,000 adidas voucher each!

The event a happened last Friday night – yes, on the very balmy night at the Magnum and 2am:dessertbar pop up at ION Square. Hosts Oli Pettigrew and Linda Black introduced the new flavours to a very eager crowd who happily tasted the mini sized Hazelnut or Fruit Bonbon Magnums. Would I be wrong to say that some even tried both?

The Magnum Temptation Hazelnut is decadent vanilla ice cream and syrup-filled chocolate hazelnut bonbons encased within a rich chocolate shell and Magnum Temptation Fruit is a smooth vanilla ice cream with swirls of Fruit of the Forest sauce, enriched with juicy cranberry pieces and dark Ecuador chocolate chunks within a Magnum chocolate shell.

At the 2am: dessertbar pop up you can choose to dip your choice of a “naked” Magnum ice-cream into the signature Magnum chocolate specially flown in from Belgium, before personalising your dessert from an array of toppings ranging from pistachio nuts to crunchy honeycomb crumbs.

While you’re at the Magnum Dessert Bar, you can also sample some  items from the exclusive Magnum Temptation Dessert Menu. This is a collaboration between Magnum and 2am:dessertbar’s Chef Janice Wong. You can also head down to 2am:dessertbar at Holland Village from May 25 to June 10 to satisfy your sweet tooth with the full menu. I’m definately going – who wants to come with?

It was a five-day event, which started on the 22nd of April. Featuring 19 shows. The opening show started with the Autumn/Winter Collections from British designer Spencer Hart and distinguished Korean fashion leader Songzio. Other designers showcased during the week included Alexis Mabille from France and Britain’s Matthew Miller. The event was closed in style by German label MCM (Mode Creation Munich).

Took a few snipets with the iPhone 4S…I now wish I’d taken my Nikon D3s with me! It’s that whole…don’t take it, use a small bag, take it, use a large bag thing! I should just learn this lesson right? :-p

What was meant to be a one hour event turned into a three hour stint – and yes, it involved several shots of vodka! Russian Standard Vodka! Paired with amazing food! On the menu – Black Treasure, Strasbourg Pie, Borsch, Sturgeon Romanoff, Beef Stroganoff and Sladka Troika.

Prior to lunch, Igor Galburt spoke to us about their state-of-the-art distillery in St. Petersburg, Russia. Designed to enhance over 700 years of vodka-making savoir-faire using the most advanced technologies possible, their 30,000 square meter plant has raised the bar on production precision while simultaneously signaling Russia’s renaissance as the 21st century leader of premium vodkas.

Adhering faithfully to Dmitri Mendeleev‘s 1894 formula for vodka, they have devised a strict four-tier production protocol (mashing and fermenting, distillation and rectification, filtration and relaxation and bottling and packaging), pairing the finest raw ingredients with the most exacting systems.

Since luxury begins with the quality and rarity of materials used, they source nature’s very best for their vodkas using hand selected winter wheat grains from the fertile soil of the Southern Russian Steppes. The secret to the “wheat flavor” of traditional Russia vodka, the grain is masterfully milled and fermented to extract its attributes in the first part of the production process. The resulting rich, raw spirit is then distilled four times to create the ultra-luxurious base for Russian Standard Original and their other Platinum brands.

After sunrise we also headed to Ta Prohm – think where Lara Croft was shot!

Later in the day we headed to Bayon to shoot the faces! I loved this place…I love faces!!! We had organised some Apsara Dancers to join us and got a chance to photograph them in this environment which although hot was definately worth it. I did feel sorry for the girls – they were fully decked out in traditional costumes and with full make up!

After a much needed break – in the hotel pool – and some back and forth discussion on what to do next – which involved a Nikon Lens cap making decisions for us we headed out to Phnom Bakheng for a sunset shoot. We did the climb up the mountain and again, setttled into a spot in order to grab the sunset. What came next on our return to the hotel? A massage of course! And it was well deserved!

Me. I’m a huge fan of books. I grew up in a library. Well, think, it was my babysitting service! There aren’t a lot of books and definately not a lot of shelving space. For our next trip over I am going to ask you all for donations – apparently they need Khmer to English Dictionaries to start with! I’m thinking even if everyone donates a minimum of SG$25 (of course, we’d love to do more?) this will go a very, very, long way! For lunch we were invited to a teacher’s house where we got to sample some local fare and of course, take more photos! After lunch we headed on to view the Baray Krochab Project which is located next door to the school. This project is all about creating a community. Blocks of land will be allocated to locals who will be moved from local dump sites. These families will be taught new skills – in the hope that they can create a new life for themselves.
