GM signals more cuts, the automaker will meet or top target to reduce salaried employment costs by 20%, but signals that additional cuts needed due to worsening sales.

General Motors expects to meet or exceed its target for a 20% reduction in the cost of its salaried workforce, but a worsening sales outlook is likely to force additional cost and staffing reductions, a company spokesman said Thursday.

What does a home warranty protection plan cover?

Home warranty protection plans may offer different levels of coverage. Most standard plans offer repair or replacement coverage for a home's heating system and ductwork, plumbing, and electrical systems. Other major appliances that can be added include the dishwasher, the water heater, stove, clothes washer and dryer, even swimming pool equipment. If you are expecting your appliances or systems to break down sooner than later, you can also consider increasing your deductible in order to make a guaranteed replacement provision more affordable.

Increasing your deductible from $500 to $1,000 can often reduce your premiums. The majority of plans do not require an inspection of a home's systems or appliances. Because coverage's will vary from state to state and from policy to policy, ask to see a copy of the policy before you commit.

What does a home warranty not cover?

Pre-existing conditions are typically not covered. For example, if the water heater hasn't worked properly for some time, it probably won't be covered in the buyer's home warranty plan. In Michigan, an energy package that will raise residential electric rates by up to 12 percent, require more electricity to be generated by renewable sources and put a cap on competition to the major utilities won final passage in the Legislature.

DTE officials said the average ratepayer who has a $75-a-month electric bill will pay an additional $6 to $6.50 monthly next year and $8 to $9 a month in the fifth year as a result of the legislation. Consumers Energy officials said monthly bills for average ratepayers will increase by $6 to $7.50.

Progress Energy who serves customers in Florida and some of the Southeastern states gives us a little glimpse into that question. In their statement they expect electricity rates to go up 31% next year. Bleak? I'll say. In North Carolina they are seeking a 16% rate increase.

In Florida the increase is to help Progress Energy recover their costs for fuel, clean air technology at coal burning power plants and nuclear plant investment.

I've become enamored with the cocept of "multiple," especially when it pertains to a home based business. I especially like the idea of harnessing the power of the multiple to grow your business multiple times over.

There are a lot of things that can be multiple in a business, but in this article I’m focusing on multiple streams of income. In a nutshell, multiple streams of income means your business has more then one way to make money. For instance, you sell products and you sell services or your sell products from a couple different companies. Those are multiple streams of incomes. Why do you need them? Below are five reasons:

1. Make money while you sleep. This is a big one for those who sell your time (also known as providing services). The biggest drawback to selling time is when you aren't working, you aren't making money. So when you're on vacation, relaxing over the weekend or (gasp) sleeping, no money is coming into the business. But let's say you offer a product or two to sell in addition to your services. Now you've just created a passive income stream (passive meaning it doesn't require yours or anyone else's time). So if you are taking a nap or out walking the dogs, money can still be coming into your business. (What a concept!)

2. Leverage your time. This is especially true with income streams that are passive. Basically you're making money without it taking any of your time. Therefore, you can spend your time doing something else and still enjoy money coming in from a passive income stream. This is a good way to use your time wisely. (Rather than work for an hour, get paid for an hour, you can be paid several times in several different ways during that same hour.)

3. Fill your pipeline.If a customer does not want to join your business opportunity, get them to atleast purchase your products for personal or business consumption. After all, clients need to trust you and trust they're getting a good deal for their money.

4. Catch a variety of clients. No matter what you offer, a part of your target market is not going to be interested in buying from you. Why? Because they'd rather do it themselves. Or maybe they do the same thing you do and would rather learn from you to better their own skills.

5. Diversify. The more income streams you have, the less devastating it will be to lose one. Not to be negative, but things happen. Industries change. Economies change. People want different things.
