Yeah, I couldn't resist trying (and loving) Stumpy Pencil after everyone was raving about it :P

Was drawing one of my characters in cut-out style. It's been a long time since I've done anything that way. Takes a bit long for my liking (so like...the normal amount of time a picture should take, haha), but I really like the results.

My little snow leopard, Irbimon <3 Wanted to draw him not in Digimon style.

It's been soooo long since I've done something that isn't style imitation, hahaha. I should prooobably do it more often.

Was working on ye olde website and realized I needed to get my blog at least somewhat up to date! So here's some puppet progress I never posted:

Her body is made of make-up sponges. Kind of hard to trim to a smooth surface, but very soft and squishy!

This was where it got really exciting!

Her skin is pantyhose. The thread is there to hold it against the sponges while the silicone cures

And my incredibly messy studio. I opted for the take-home kit because it would be the easiest solution for everyone. But the only space in my house for it was the sewing room in the basement. Had to take over the sewing machine's table.

HI I'M NOT DEAD, REALLY.
Here, have some production/progress work for my film, to prove that yes, I am in fact making a film.

These are my characters. The fire elemental isn't set in stone yet, her design is troublesome to me.
Um so anyone who saw pre-production work from my group's 3rd year film might remember there being a belly dancer + fire thing going on, just an FYI that this was not at all because of it. The basis for my story was the background I made up for my WoW mage the summer before, who was a belly dancer with a water elemental (mages don't get fire). So it was either hula and water elemental, or belly dancer with fire, both didn't work for me outside of WoW. And I tried the water way initially but decided A) Belly dancers have way more interesting costumes and B) Water is a bitch to animate.

Here is my set design. It's really simple, which is very good.
Head sculpt turnarounds. Initially it was drawn just to have something done for the milestone but it ended up being immensely helpful for the actual sculpt.
My armature! It's oak blocks, a very "home made" way. But just as good as aluminum blocks. Shouldn't there be a second 'i' in aluminum? Aluminium...
And the most recent progress. This was the scariest and most difficult part of the puppet and now that it's done I can be super excited about it (again)! Really looking forward to painting her makeup.

Man this stuff takes deceptively long for what it is.

Actually it took like 2h to saw her torso into pieces like that. Mostly 'cause the underboob wasn't a straight line so I had to use an xacto knife instead of a handsaw.

New Project

Megan made me post thiiiiis. It's printed out all sexy like (at the print shop!) and on my studio desk. I dunno I really really like how it turned out even if it is my childish guilty pleasure!

So it's been like three days since I updated (I'm a liar). >_>;;;;

I don't have much. I'll post whatever else comes to mind later. It's like the resurrection of blogs or something, lately.I'm doing another Killic+Mount picture :D Though I haven't been bothered to get into shading it yet. Her head was originally massive but Tom taught me how to use the Liquefy tool and it's really entertaining o.o; I definitely don't actually have the Tirisfal Regalia. Seeing as I'm not even 70.

No one else has their gym leader character and badge done so there's only Tom an' me done :D;;; TEN YEAR OLDS YAY

Gise I need some art help..! There's been this WoW scene I've wanted to illustrate for a while now, but it's really really hard to incorporate emotion into a picture! T_T I can see it in my head just fine but it just won't come down on paper...!

Basically, Tom and I were grinding random mobs in Hellfire Peninsula, Outland. We were behind a random stone wall, with a fabric roof-thing over us, taking a break. I see the ground shake, really slow footsteps, and hear that awful sound of screeching metal - but with a ghastly evil personality about it. I swerve the camera to see the Fel Reaver walking RIGHT by us, close enough for it to be REALLY FREAKING HUGE as it always is, but far enough away that it doesn't come after us. It just walks by and I gape at it 'cause that thing scares me. Hits for WELL over 3k/hit.

And that's the scene I want. But my thumbnails keep failing dfsjifdjhuirthgreisied so I need help to do this properly T_T;
See this is the Fel Reaver. This picture doesn't do it justice as it's HUGE OH GOD.
And this is vaguely what I've been trying to achieve and failing. Note how I definitely failed at drawing the Reaver. But that's not the point :D;

Tweaked/stretched it about in Photoshop a bit, this is a bit closer to what I wanted but it's still not saying "THIS IS SCARY HO NOES!" to me @_@

Ideas?;;;

Oh and while I'm here, here's a picture I finished t'day:I'm really quite proud of it :D Started it after I hit 40 (shortly after portfolios?), worked a bit in May, and just finished it this afternoon. I used Bob's tricks on the lineart and they sototally worked.

It's old. I found that little Art Fundies sketchbook that came in our art kits and decided to use it. So I filled the first few pages with highligher/pen/Sharpie art 8DStaaaaaaan! With an angry sun and a big head.
I wish I looked like this when I play DDR.
Tom with whatever the hell Soupie's armor was back then. And AnHero with a lazy body. Yay ghostcat.

Character I made up back in high school. Her name was Sheridan Daniels and she was like...a dead centaur girl. Well all the characters were dead. I liked the story but then I started reading Bleach and decided "this is really similar! Fuck!" and pretty much scrapped the whole project :D
