"Death from above" WIP -1

2012-01-31T15:15:00.001+01:00

Yeah... yeah. I know that this title was reused so many times it's not even funny to mention it but hey... i'm lazy, ok?

Now with that out of the way, let's see what i'm talking about.

This, all those unfortunate enough to end up here, is my latest project, or should i say practice piece.
Basicaly i'm a noob when it comes to miniature painting, so i want to try evr\ery new tehnique that i find.
Well, not realy but you get the idea.

Here are pics showing what i actualy did so far. I decided to try the zenithal lightning. quite pleased with the look so far, Still you have to remeber this is just a WIP, and HOPEFULLY it will look better when done.

Feels like i should add something on the base - or to be more precise some sort of enemy. But as there is no mooneyz to spare for that this will propbly be left like that, or maybe a tyranid.... Hmmm.... any toughts?

Bloody update and some new stuff

2012-01-25T10:42:00.001+01:00

Hello everyone! In today's post i'm going to show you how I painted some blood efects. And pics of some minis i got recently.

Let's start with the BLOOD :D

First step was to create some blood drops and similar nasty stuff, unfortunatly no pictures taken :/ I was (roughly) following the tutorial i read on 5th Dimension on how to make slime. Quite cool stuff :D

Next of course was painting. Starting with tamiya red ( i think, it was quite a while ago to be honest)

As you can clearly see blood is painted mostly on the blades, claws and mouth but i also added some spots in wich i think it could splatter.

After that it was time to make it darker, to do that i mixed myslef some semi-clear dark red, evrything mixed by eye but i used few drops of agama dark red, tamiya black, and a drop of tamiya red, this all mixed 1:3 (i think) with future:

After few more layers :

Then i used my "sweet red" mix i did some time ago and went over blood:

and here we have it:

I'm quite happy with the way it turned out

I realy should get back and finish that dio but i had quite a lot of uni work and due to changes at my job i have to stay overtime quite often. But hey thats life :)

Now for the "some new stuff" part of the post:

got quite a few bits and some minis REALY cheap (thank you online auctions), no shots of the bits and some normal tactical marines but here we go with interesting stuff:

Blood Angels Chaplain, he came without backpack and his Crozius Arcanum was cut off by previous owner, still it is a beautyfull mini, really like those metal ones (my first metal). The details are just amazing and i alredy have a plan for him ;)

Second one is metal as well:

Veteran Assault Space Marine. Looks like the one from Vanguard Veterans set but his sword was replaced with power axe. This one will serve a dual purpose for me, first - it's an awesome mini and seems like he's gonna be a joy to paint and second - he will be a "template" for my RG Zaku Space Marine Conversion.

I think that will be everything for now, May The Emperor Protect all of you!

FINISHED: Black Templaras Sword Brethren

2012-01-06T14:11:00.001+01:00

This is one of the figs i got from Decay. The painted ones are awesome and i was afraid to do them in the same colours i would most definitly fail.

So I went with the trademark black of the Templars with some red to help this little fella stand out a bit.
Also added a coin in the dio to show the scale a bit better ;)

Anyway enough talking, it's PICTURES TIME!!

The new begining

2012-01-03T22:45:00.000+01:00

At the begining i would like to say hello to everybody who somehow got to this part of the internet. Well here you are, hopeless, alone in the world where there is only war.... and I hope you will stay for a while (or at least return from time to time :P )

I will soon do updates with my finished minis but for now i will write a lil bit about my current project.

"Mopping up the streets" diorama.

I started from making this little piece od city styled terrain;

Nothing crazy, I know, but hopefully it will get better.

Next i started working on the first of Space Marines

First thing was a little bit of modding - changing his bolter in to combi-melta

then i started painting that little sucker
nothing crazy here either, just an Ultramarines 6th Company

This is one of the first Marines I got and this is the "3 parts snap-fit" so i didnt do much to it, But now that i think of it should have changed the pose to make it more dynamic. Oh well.... Live and learn.

And the second one - a Sergeant:
from this:

to this:

and then this:

After that i did some more work the the base itself:

basicaly scribrd all of the bricks, then added sand and some fine rubles.
After that some painting - just a base coat

In the meantime i painted some ripper swarms and a genestealer (wich hadn't photographed apparently)
I decided to go with Hive Fleet Kraken and here is one of them unfinished

Later as my good friend Decay sugested i gloss coated the armor and flat coated the body, IMO it creates a nice alien feel on them.

This post is getting quite long alredy BUT there is still few things i want to add :D

The third and I think last marine (not sure yet about that,,, could use some input on the matter ;) )

started with some painting and higlighting:

Obviously a long way for him...

And the last but not least my Tyranid Prime - Used parts of the Warrior and some other bits i bought cheap in a "bits pack" - some of them i also got from Decay

some steps in the painting process

and after painintg and gloss/falt coating

now comes the fun part for him.... but that and much more in the next post ;]
