How was it to be the director of photography for two of the biggest films of the year - Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (RNBDJ) and Ghajini?

It’s a rare honour to be part of two of the biggest movies, and I should say I’m lucky. Both movies have big stars — SRK and Aamir. Both movies also have big directors, Aditya Chopra and A R Murugadoss.

How different are the acting styles of SRK and Aamir?

SRK is a very smart man. He never shows how hard he works or how well he prepares himself for a scene. But when the camera begins to roll, he comes alive. He is a people’s man — he connects with the crew and knows most of them by name, greets them and even teases them. I share a fantastic rapport and good professional relationship with him.

I have been lucky to be associated with Aamir Khan for a long time and have worked in three films with him — Dil Chahtha Hai (DCH), Fanna and now, Ghajini. I got a lot of critical acclaim for the camera work for DCH. We respect and give each other space. He is a well-read guy and knows the nuances of filmmaking. He is extremely hard working, focussed and completely dedicated.

Which of the two films was more challenging?

Ghajini has been the most challenging film of my career. There was a lot of action. It’s a big film in terms of locations and the number of days of shoot. On the other hand, RNBDJ is about three people and the entire film was shot on sets, which made it easier.

How was it working with Aditya Chopra and Murugadoss?

Adi is a very planned person. He knows exactly what he wants, how he is going to cut the film, how many shots will be retained and the mood of the scene. It’s very difficult to change his views and opinions. So, whatever you see in this film is how he visualised it. I merely enhanced it by lighting and compositions.

Murgadoss, on the other hand, is open to discussion and change. Ghajini is a super hit Tamil film already and he knows the impact that every scene should have. He gives me a free hand and expects me to enhance scenes. I could try new ideas like using different lenses, locations in Namibia or the colours of a wall in a set or costumes. Since Ghajini is a look-based film, we went all out to enhance the movie. Murgadoss is going to be the next big director in Bollywood.

How was it shooting for the two movies?

The way songs were picturised in RNBDJ was very new to me. Movements are very fluid and look effortless on screen but operating the camera and setting up the equipment was very difficult. If you look at the Haule, Haule... song, the steady shots were very complicated. We had to make special rigs and rehearse the full song for two days before the shoot.

The look in Ghajini is very striking. It involved a lot of camera movement and MTV-like quick, flashy narratives. The love story and the action scenes have two different looks. We followed those looks as they were very good. R D Rajasekar, the cameraman of the Tamil version, did a fantastic job and I have done my best to live up to expectations.

Who is more photogenic, Anushka or Asin?

Asin is more photogenic since she knows all the tricks of the trade. Anushka is quite new. But for a newcomer, she is very good. Asin will become big in Bollywood – she’s talented, hard working and totally focussed.

Heroine Sangeetha marriage on Feb 1st 2009

Heroine Sangeetha who gave stunning performances in Khadgam, Ee Abbai Chala Manchodu, Pellam Oorelithe, Sivaputrudu and many more is now getting ready for marriage. She is going to marry her long time boy-friend and lover Krish who is a playback singer in tamil cinema.

Sangeeta announced this in a pressmeet held on tuesday. She also said that she met Krish in a tv program and their friendship led to love and now to marriage. Sangeeta also added that the marriage is going to take place with the consent of both the families. She also said that she didn’t decide anything about whether to continue acting in movies after marriage or not.

Sangeetha and Krish marriage is going to take place on February 1st 2009. The marriage is going to take place in Thiruvannamalai in Tamilnadu.

story:-
The story is about a struggling Assistant Director wishing to achieve his ambition. Ravi(Ravi Teja) works as assistant under Idly Viswananth(Brahmanandam) and is desirous to become a director. He makes serious efforts to get a producer(Sayaji Shinde) for his script. Also, he is in love with a dancer Sandhya (Seiya). In the process of trying to protect Sandhya from her brother-in-law (Krishna Bhagwan), Ravi clashes with a goon Yaadu (Supreeth). How Ravi overcomes all odds to become a director and a successful one at that forms the crux of the plot.
Performances :
Ravi Teja is as usual at his best. His eneregetic performance brought life into his character. As the character resembles his own real life struggle, it looked like a cakewalk for him. In simple words, Ravi Teja rocks again.

Newcomer Seiya looked glamorous in the film. She is used only for skin show and nothing much to show her acting skills. She must take care on her body as she looks bit stout in the film. She might get some good offers for her sexy looks.

Mumaith Khan, Sayaji Shinde, Supreeth and RamaPrabha did justice to their roles. Brahmanandam evoked some laughs in theatres. Sairam Shankar in a guest role did good job.
Technical Departments :

Director Puri Jagannadh again proved his mettle. He must be applauded for his guts to prepare and make a film pointing at the faults in own industry. Puri's dialogues are main asset for this film. His hard hitting dialogues are the strength of this film. But, Puri's swear words in 2nd half makes family audience stay away from theatres. However, Puri failed to fit in necessary comedy elements to entertain audience. Puri is also not able to maintain consistency in heroine's character. Puri misplaced some songs which breaks the flow of the film. Overall, Puri did a commendable job once again.

Music by Chakri is mediocre. Some songs are good but Chakri's vocal experiments made them hard to hear. Background score for the film is okay. Misplacement of the songs irritates people to some extent.

Cinematography is good. Editing should have been better. All other departments did their best.
Final Call:

Director Puri Jagannadh makes a brave effort in making this movie. His dialogues hit hard at some of the industry personalities. He also showcased the struggles of aspirants who want to make it big in film industry. Puri's comments on reviewers and media are valid to certain extent. First half of the film is good and second half is okay. Puri should have induced some commercial elements to make the film appeal for all class of audience.

My Final Call is, movie is for those who does not watch movies merely for entertainment. Mass and commercial elements are lacking to some extent. All class of audience can enjoy this movie. But, it is hard to depict whether it can sustain in the long run. Just go and watch 'Neninthe' to know the struggles of people in film industry.

The couple is otherwise quite cosy together but Kareena needed a whole lot of winter wear including jackets, shawls, boots and pullovers to keep warm while shooting for Karan Johar’s flick with Saif.

She said, “It was the coldest night of my life… You’ve no idea what it was like in that heavy snowfall with a unit of 80 people. But it looked like heaven.”

It's been a big season of drama for fans of MTV's "The Hills," and according to Stephanie Pratt, next Monday's season finale is full of even more thrills.

"I think that's going to be the most exciting thing this whole season by far," Stephanie, the little sister of "Hills" bad boy Spencer, told on Tuesday. "Spencer and Heidi go to court in Beverly Hills to legalize their marriage – and as you can see, Heidi's mom isn't there. I don't know if she's still in town, but I know that was really crazy for them when she was in town after they eloped. It was really stressful for them.

"And Heidi and Lauren run into each other at this Bolthouse event that we all went to," Stephanie continued. "Oh, and Audrina and Justin — like maybe they're going to get serious – he took her to Palm Springs and gave her a ring!"

One thing that won't make "The Hills" season finale, however, is Heidi and Spencer's post-wedding reception. For starters, Stephanie said the couple hasn't even organized such a bash.

"I think right now, it's basically up to Heidi and Spencer," Stephanie said. "Heidi's mom is less than thrilled, so it's up to them, but I know Holly [Montag, Heidi's sister] and I really want them to have a party!"

As for plans to have kids, according to Spencer's sister, "Heidi wants kids, but right now she really wants a dog."

So what did Spencer's sister buy the newlywed couple?

"Oh my god, I haven't [gotten them a gift]! Oh my god, I'm such a bad sister!" she exclaimed. "I've only been concentrating on Christmas presents, I totally forgot about a wedding present!"

A source says, “Aamir will be wearing this brand in the first half of the movie where he has a corporate, modern and fashion-conscious look. The brand just approached him with a formal letter asking him to walk the ramp. Aamir readily accepted, simply stating in reply, ‘It’s a good idea’. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is rocking at the box office and Shahrukh Khan’s simple middle class avatar is getting all the rave reviews. And getting into the character of Surinder Sahni was the most memorable time SRK had while shooting for RNBDJ

“The first character is Surinder Sahni and we wanted him to look like a middle class guy, having a fixed routine - perhaps to the extent of being boring. We also wanted to give him a little bit of amusing quality without making him a caricature and to get all that, I think a physical appearance was important. Especially, for the movement of the story, the look was very important. One day, I put a moustache and got some hairpiece done and showed it to Adi and he said, ‘This is the guy he should look like.’ It’s not how weird or funny I look, but the simplicity of the character will permeate through the screen.

I think the most memorable part was the first seven-eight days when I changed my look for Surinder Sahni. When I used to walk on the sets, nobody would recognise me.I got a taste of things that will come 30 years later in my life when I will no longer be a star and nobody will recognise me. I think that is the most memorable moment but I hope it never happens to me ever again because not to be recognised after 20 years of such high recognition is something I wasn’t ready for.”

Shahrukh says he identifies more with Surinder than with Raj and Rahul that he has been playing over the last 15 years.

“I am basically very ordinary in the way I think, in the way I do things. I come from an educated lower middle class background and I have never lost touch with that. Suri is what I really am. And my challenge as an actor is genuinely to make Surinder Sahni the new romantic icon.

I want everybody not to love Raj anymore and say ‘We want to be Suri’. The romantic iconic status crown now shifts from Raj and Rahul to Surinder Sahni because he’s got a good heart.”

In the end, for an invited school function, the star reveals his past. He tells the audience that in his school days he had a friend who always stood by him in his hardships. He tells that the friend gave him the money to join acting by selling his ancestral ear ring and that friend happens to be Billo.

Caught in the web of Post-Marital boredom and the irresistible temptation of lurking out if the relationship for some fun, Dil Kabaddi tackles the journey of two modern day couples in urban India, Samit and Mita & Rishi and Simi.
While Samit is indeed proud of his philandering and thoroughly enjoys the adventure and experimentation, Mita is at receiving end of his adulterous ways. His pride along with her suffering defines their relationship. On the other hand, as Rishi tries really hard to walk that extra mile and get rid of his monogamy, Simi struggles to decide whether she is really cut out for something outside of marriage or not. His desperation coupled with her confusion, decide the dynamics of this relationship.
As the four saddle their Way on the marital marathon, they come across Kaya, who spices up the goings-on between Samit and Mita; Raga, who gives Rishi the motivation to take the next step; and Veer who ends up for a short stint with Mita, and becomes the sole reason for Simi’s confusion.
How the quartet handles these complex, sensitive matters of the heart, and how they solve the never ending quests which their hearts put them through, with some ending up with a broken heart, is essentially the crux of the plot of Dil Kabbadi.

Secret behind Deepika’s cheeni eyes

Deepika Padukone is looking all Chinki in her upcoming flick Chandni Chowk to China which also starrs Akshay Kumar. According to rumors the leggy lass is playing a double role in the movie and she confirms the news and says it’s not a publicity gimmick.

She says, “It’s actually a double role and no publicity gimmick. I play two different characters in Chandni Chowk To China , one is an Indian called Sukhi, and the other is a Chinese girl, Meow Meow. The Chinese character is a pro at martial arts for which I had to undergo four months of rigorous training before the film started.”

There were rumors that Deepika had used tapes to make her wide eyes look like Chinese eyes, however Deepika says, “We had thought of that initially but it wasn’t a good idea to use tapes, they’re bad for the skin. My makeup artist came up with a simpler solution and used the eyeliner in such a way that it gave my eyes the Chinese tweak.”

John doesn’t believe he is sexy, well the reason is, “People who know me don’t think I’m sexy… they know I’m a regular guy. But the big thing is that if John Abraham can do it, people should feel good… because what’s stopping them from doing it too?”

However John cannot stop himself from being happy at being awarded the tag, he says, “It’s nice to be liked by all ages and genders .Though I turn red when little girls of 12 and 13 say I’m so hot! It’s embarrassing but also beautiful. And what can I do, sexy is a part of their lingo!”

Allu Arjun – Gunasekhar’s film launched, Allu Arjun New flim launch

Allu Arjun’s latest film in the direction of Gunasekhar was launched at Guna Sekhar’s office on the morning of 15 December. DVV Danayya produces it on Universal Media banner.

Ram Charan Teja sounded the clapboard, VV Vinayak switched on the camera and SS Rajamouli directed the first shot. Chatrapati Prasad handed over the script.

Gunasekhar said, “This film is entirely different from what Allu Arjun has done in the past. This film will have high technical values and the hero’s role could only be done by Allu Arjun. Script work of the film was going on for the past six months. Mani Sharma has been on music work for the past three months. RD Rajasehar (Ghajini and Gharshana) is so impressed with the story that he committed only this project and he would complete the work of this film before committing any other project. Ashok who worked for Okkadu film will do art work. This film will have 50 ‘real’ families (Casting call) backdrop. We are looking for a new heroine in this film.”

Producer Danayya said, “It has always been my ambition to make a huge film with a big director like Gunasekhar. I am happy that Allu Arjun is acting in our banner after the big hit of Desa Muduru. I would like to thank Gunasekhar, Allu Arjun and Allu Arvind on this eve. This film will be shot between 15th and 30th of January, February and March. Then the movie would be shot non-stop from April till the shoot is complete.”
