Designed by Young & Battaglia, the King Edison pendant lamp combines whimsy with functionality. A tiny functioning chandelier is suspended inside a hand blown clear glass bulb with satin chrome fittings and hung on a braided silken cable. The name, King Edison, is tongue-in-cheek nod to the regal design of the chandelier and the lightbulb’s original inventor. The piece is made in England by Mineheart, the design consultant company and online store launched by Brendan Young and Vanessa Battaglia in 2010.

This perfect bathtub is suspended from the walls and does not touch the floor. It is fixed with stainless steel brackets that can be covered over, or left revealed. The bath is filled using a floor standing tap and the waste water released through the base into a floor drain. Coffee at the morning is an everyday ritual. And design team Snow Violent thinks that coffee should be without sugar since it’s a harmful addition to a coffee. To make it more visual they developed skull-shaped sugar cubes. Another purpose of this project is a some kind of surprise that would be an entertaining way to start your day. The unique concept began as a simple sketch and was later developed into a prototype by DR.HC to feature meticulously carved details that resemble an actual skull. Gangnam Building Redesign by MVRDV

Dutch architects MVRDV have redesigned a 1980s building in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea. Dutch studio has transformed the facade of an ageing mixed-use building into a stack of shop windows in Gangnam, the trendy district of Seoul described in the world-famous Korean pop song. Positioned amongst the designer boutiques of Apgujung Road, the 1980s Chungha building contains a leather accessories store on its ground floor. The upper levels accommodate more private businesses, including a wedding planner and two plastic surgery practices, so its tenants had previously covered over the strip windows and created a messy-looking exterior. For the renovation, MVRDV removed the beige stone cladding and original glazing and replaced them with a facade of 18 boxes, each with a glazed shop window across its face. Different boxes were handed over to the various tenants, who can either fill them with product displays or screen them using translucent posters. “The windows no longer correspond with the interior,” MVRDV’s Jan Knikker told Dezeen. “The general ambition was to keep them as large as possible. With the recent unveiling of the Ferrari’s “LaFerrari” at the Geneva Motor Show, the pressure was on for Hublot to deliver something just as exceptional and the MP-05 LaFerrari watch is the result. Looking like a miniature engine strapped to the wrist, the limited edition timepiece is priced at a cool 300,000 Swiss francs, or about $322,000. The MP-05 “LaFerrari” was developed – in technical and design terms – entirely in parallel with the car, alongside the Ferrari teams. They share a number of common points. Able to boast no fewer than 637 components for the movement, which is also equipped with a Tourbillon, as well as a power reserve of approximately 50 days thanks to its 11 barrels, arranged in a line just like a spinal column and interconnected so that they do not each discharge in turn but support each other, this watch is closer to being a concept watch.

The watch is finely wrought in terms of shape, featuring a complex shaped sapphire crystal clearly reminiscent of the car’s outline, as well as an open case-back, and is made from black PVD titanium. It is topped by a titanium and carbon insert in its center, revealing the winding crown. The time-setting crown is positioned under the case. Both are completely integrated into the design, and therefore practically invisible. The movement has an original display, featuring first off on the front vertical face the small seconds indicated by means of an aluminum cylinder fastened onto the suspended Tourbillon cage (significantly bigger than usual with a cage diameter of 14.50 mm, for even better appreciation of the mechanical parts). The hour and minute are displayed to the right of the barrels, also indicated by means of one anodized black aluminum cylinder each. On their left is the cylinder indicating the power reserve. Reinforcing bars either side, made from anodized red aluminum, bring to mind Ferrari’s red signature. The desire for a truly exceptional watch has been extended to the design of the presentation case, made from Schedoni leather and carbon fiber, containing the specific tools for winding the watch, and whose design was also inspired by the world of motoring. British automaker Aston Martin is celebrating its centenary by introducing the CC100 Speedster concept. Looking back to the DBR1 for styling influence, the naturally aspirated 6.0-litre v12-powered concept car made its world debut by completing a lap of the famous Nordschleife, at Germany’s 24 hours of Nürburgring race. The body and interior are crafted entirely from carbon fibre – designed and constructed in fewer than six months at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Gaydon. Paired to a six-speed hydraulically actuated automated sequential manual transmission with column-mounted paddle shifts, the CC100 reaches 0-100 km/h ( 62mph ) in 4.0 seconds, with a top speed of 291 km/h (180 mph). Guido Daniele is an award-winning artist from Soverato, Italy. In 1990 he began to explore and experiment with body and hand painting. Alessandra Baldereschi has designed a bench named Poppins. “In the Poppins collection the upholstery is used to create a visual impression: the illusion of many pillows laying on a bench. The inspiration comes from the Optical Art’s method which, through the use of color and geometric shapes, creates, starting from a plane a three-dimensional optical illusions. The padding protrudes from the surface of wood, is took down and positioned only where is necessary. Through its three-dimensionality and a slight deformation of shapes, you get a dynamic effect, a vibration enhanced by color. The cushions become a part of the structure, increasing the comfort of the seat and representing the aesthetic value of the project. This value comes from ancient times, when the cushions was made with precious materials as a symbol of royalty.” Take a look!

Marcel Luchian Studio designed the minimalist M House in Singera, a town in the Republic of Moldavia. Composed of unconventional forms, the residence’s concept design also does a brilliant job of marrying materials with a combination of glass and concrete, both inside and out. The house’s structure is made up of two off-center forms, one on top of the other, steering clear of a traditional box-like design. The overhang from the second floor provides exterior coverage below, perfect for when it’s raining. The two stories also contrast in color, with the darker shade being on the bottom. The interior continues the harmonious use of light and dark materials with dark polished floors alongside white and neutral-toned furnishings and walls.
