Lety returns next Friday and Saturday to A BEAD BOUTIQUE with her fabulous sterling silver ready-to-wear jewelry, charms, pendants, earrings, bracelets, chains, and more! We will open on Friday at least by 11 a.m. If possible, we will open earlier... call the shop if you have questions. We will be setting up Thanksgiving evening, trying to get ready for you!

This is my favorite holiday! Ted and I started our own Thanksgiving traditions thirty years ago. I made my first pan(s) of dressing (my pans were not big enough... so dressing filled numerous pans the first year and every year since!) Ted and I spend lots of "together" time, preparing our Thanksgiving feast! I love that part of this holiday! Let the festivities begin!

I want to thank folks for helping out with our 3rd DESIGNATHON. I haven't gotten final numbers, but I do know that we were able to raise over $1,000 for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana. I do appreciate your continued support! Thank you to the best customers anywhere! Thank you DANI FOOKES for being our auctioneer! If you missed out, there will be another opportunity next year!

Sunday's OPEN HOUSE was also lots of fun! We had jewelry inside and out, literally. Lisa Marie set up her tent out front, and we had jewelry throughout the shop. Beautiful, hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind jewelry! Thank you to everyone for helping to make our holiday OPEN HOUSE a success. We all learned lots about setting up displays and how to sell our jewelry.

Sorry about the quality of the photo... the colors are not good. This necklace is chunky, with a large, carved focal bead. Definitely something different from the "normal" for me!

We received the BOX TRUNK SHOW today and Ginnie and I were able to get it out before we left tonight. You don't want to miss this one!!!! There are forty-three trays of gemstones, fresh water pearls, crystals, clasps, pendants, and more. There are items that I have not seen in a long time, as well as many things I haven't ever seen! I promise you'll find some beautiful, high-end semi-precious gemstones. There are only one to two strands of most items, so if you find something you like, get it! We won't be able to get anymore of these items from this vendor at this time.

There is always something going on at A BEAD BOUTIQUE; however, it seems that we have even more than usual "going on" in the shop! First, we have sold lots of jewelry... more than usual, and I am working hard to replace or finish jewelry! Love it! We are getting ready for a class this Saturday "PMC BEADS" with Paula McDowell! Everyone looks forward to Paula's visits!

THE BEAD MOBILE COMETH! Four words we all love to hear! Friday night we have a birthday party for Rachel and a few of her friends! Saturday night I have a piece of jewelry to be auctioned during VAN GOGH, a fund raiser for River Oaks. Ted also has a painting that he and Kelly Bledsoe worked on. I always look forward to this event! Sunday we join other businesses across CenLa in our CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE. We will feature several of our customers, who will be selling jewelry and different items that they have made! Join us Sunday afternoon 1 - 5 p.m. I love seeing what my customers do with beads purchased from A BEAD BOUTIQUE... and I look forward to seeing the jewelry this Sunday afternoon. I love featuring our customers' and their jewelry! Yesterday I was treated to a "sneak peak" of Debra Hertz's fall show coming up next week. Over and over she said, "I got these beads from you!" Debra adds beautiful antique beads from around the globe. The results are beautiful! Of course I had favorites from her jewelry... and to her surprise, I liked one with a "horn" and multi-colored whitehearts! Great job, Debra!

BOX TRUNK SHOW ARRIVING TODAY! I am expecting a box trunk show from south Florida today. Eva promises some great gemstones and pendants! I'll get the show out as soon as possible!

This is one of the pieces I've made for the "DESIGNATHON", our 3rd annual fund raiser for the FOOD BANK of Central Louisiana... Tuesday, November 16th, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Several customers are making items for this event. It is not too late for you to donate an item. Contact the shop and let me know you are participating. When you leave your jewelry, we need you to fill out a card with contact information for the Food Bank's records. Feel free to leave your business cards, and we'll display them by your jewelry. DANI FOOKES will conduct our live auction. There will also be a SILENT AUCTION that will conclude at 7:00 p.m. All checks will be made out to the Food Bank. 100% of the proceeds that night go to the Food Bank. Join us supporting this wonderful organization!

I have the Swarovski crystal Christmas tree kits ready for this morning in two colors: Peridot and Crystal A.B. The kit consists of marguerite crystals in sizes 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm and 4mm light siam bi-cones for the top of the tree (two of each crystal for the two earrings). I did not include a 'base' crystal since there are so many choices.

Let the "holidays" begin! Ready or not! I'm not ready; are you? Well, here we go... one day at a time! One piece of jewelry at a time! I do love the holidays! It is my goal to enjoy every day and to remember the "Reason" for this season! I hope you'll join me in this endeavor!

My Uncle Tom passed away last Friday. I was in Shreveport yesterday for his funeral. Uncle Tom was a Methodist preacher, who pastored many churches in his 85 years. During the last 10 years of his life, he was the Chaplain for the North Louisiana GoodWill organization. The memorial service was truly a celebration of his life. His grandchildren spoke and shared some sweet memories. Uncle Tom was in the navy, and his grandson, also in the navy, presented Uncle Tom's three children with an American flag. It was a very touching and sweet moment! My thoughts were on the heavenly reunion last Friday morning, when Uncle Tom was reunited with Aunt Natalie and the many more who were there waiting for him.

I will be out of the shop on Tuesday... spending a little time with my grandsons! Thank you to Pam and Ginnie for taking care of A BEAD BOUTIQUE for me!

Our 3rd annual "DESIGNATHON" is getting close. I have received several pieces from customers. If you would like to donate a piece of jewelry to be auctioned Tuesday, 11/16/10, please bring it by the shop. 100% of the proceeds from this sale go the the FOOD BANK of Central Louisiana. When you leave your item, we will need you to fill out a card with your information for the Food Bank. Please leave some of your business cards with us, too. We'll display those with your donated item.

Christmas Tree Kits will be ready this week! I have peridot and crystal A.B. in the Swarovski marguerite crystals (6, 8, 10, and 12mm sizes). Watch for our "special" promotion this Thursday and Friday! The "kits" will be available at a special price Thursday and Friday only! (The price these two days will be less than last year's kits!) We welcomed so many new 'friends' to A BEAD BOUTIQUE this past week. I have been so busy that I didn't think to snap photos. Nancy, our new friend from Houston, Texas, showed Ginnie how to make a wrapped leather bracelet. Several folks wrapped their arms around that design (originated by Chan Luu). Stop by the shop this week and check out the one in the shop! Ginnie wore hers home. Sheryl (from Baton Rouge) finished one, and had a second one started. Ann started one that everyone loved! Check the date... we are only two months and four days away from Christmas! 2010 is almost over! Are you ready for the holidays? Wow! We have so much to do to get ready around the shop! There are lots of activities planned and I hope that you will join us as A BEAD BOUTIQUE celebrates five years of business! Watch for information about our celebration!

Today... join me and Pam in the shop! James packed up and left last night... not without leaving a few beads with me! We will work to get out a few new things today, including some great stones in the $5.00 tub! I am expecting a couple of shipments from new vendors, featuring "fleur de lis" charms and pendants in different plated metals. I'll let you know when those are in.
