Shahid to Copy Cruise's Top Gun

Shahid Kapoor, as Tom Cruise did in 1986 with Top Gun, is all set to wear a uniform and take to the skies in Mausam - his father Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut. His role is being modelled on the lines of Tom Cruise's from Top Gun, in which the actor played a Navy pilot training in the US Navy Fighter Weapons School known in the Pentagon as Topgun. The film was a super hit and had great music and songs apart from scintillating dog-fights in mid-air and other action. Shahid is taking the film seriously and has decided to train for the role after the release of Chance Pe Dance.

Celina Will Be Performing On New Year's Eve

Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama 3 Idiots created a record by earning around Rs.93 crore (Rs.930 million/$20 million) in its opening weekend. Reliance BIG Entertainment, which is the distributor of 3 Idiots, released the movie with about 2,000 prints across 40 countries. Loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller Five Point Someone, the film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Released on Dec 25, its box office collection has beaten the initial earnings of another Aamir starrer Ghajini, considered Hindi cinema's highest grosser till date, with 30 percent more earnings till Sunday night.

Revised 'Ishqiya' Promos Will Be Launched Soon

Vishal Bhardwaj's production venture Ishqiya faced the censor board's ire for using the word sex in its promos. But the ban has been lifted, giving respite to the producers. The film has a scene where actor Arshad Warsi uses the three letter word, but it did not go down very well with the censor board. Bhardwaj and his co-producers managed to convince the board members that the word was needed, and they finally gave their nod. With the censor board's approval, the producers will re-launch the promos with the word audible. Ishqiya is slated to release on Jan 29.

Salman Khan Shoots at Buckingham Palace

Salman Khan's forthcoming film Veer has received a rare distinction of becoming the first Bollywood movie to be shot on the premises of Buckingham Palace in London, the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II. The makers of the film were allowed to shoot, but just for four hours. And, they also had to pay 50,000 pounds. On the day of the shoot, the Queen was out of the city and the timing allowed was from 6.00am to 10.00am. Since Veer is a period film, the look of the palace had to be of the 19th century. All the clothes had to be changed accordingly and horse carriages had to be brought. Roads leading to the palace were also blocked to keep away traffic and on-lookers. The shoot went off very well and within the time limit prescribed.
