ADFF Announces First Recipients of the SANAD Fund 2013

Grant recipients from the first cycle of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival’s SANAD Fund for 2013 have been announced at the Cannes Film Festival with 16 projects chosen to receive grants, out of the 112 who applied.

14.03.2013 - Beginning tomorrow this Arab film festival in Lebanon (March 15 - 24, 2013) returns with an impressive selection of Arab narrative and documentary productions from 2011 - 2012 along with two recent short films from 2013. All in all the program presents 12 feature narrative films, 17 feature documentaries and 19 short films. This much anticipated festival takes place every two years and was set to take place last year before it was delayed. Seven films from their program were supported by the SANAD Fund and had their regional premieres during the 5th and 6th editions of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. They now find their way to audiences attending Beirut DC.

Top Award Winning ADFF 2012 Short Film Murk Light Will Screen at Tribeca Film Festival

14.03.2013 – Murk Light, a short Emirati movie directed by Iraqi filmmaker Yasir Al Yasiri and supported and produced by twofour54 creative lab, a Media Zone Authority – Abu Dhabi, company, has been nominated for the category Best Narrative Shorts in the 12th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) that will run April 17 through April 28, 2013. Murk Light was premiered at 2012 Abu Dhabi Film Festival and won two awards; first prize in the Short Narrative Competition, and best cinematography. Murk Light was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival out of over 2,800 submissions.
