The Massachusetts-based refrigerated foods hauler ditches the whiteboard for a comprehensive, cost-effective Prophesy DispatchSeries transportation management system from Accellos, increasing operational efficiency and experiencing outstanding growth.

Product

Prophesy DispatchSeries with QuickBooks integration

Key Benefits

Transition from whiteboard dispatching to comprehensive trucking software

Integration with existing QuickBooks accounting system

Cost-effective solution

More efficient organization for dispatching and accounting teams

Experienced growth

Added modules for multi-company and brokerage operations, EDI, commercial mileage & routing, fuel tax reporting, driver log auditing, driver management, fuel card import, customer web portal, and document imaging

Company

CTW Transport, Inc. was founded by Costas Flessas over 20 years ago in Peabody, Massachusetts. At the time of founding, CTW Transport consisted of one truck and two employees. Today, CTW is staffed by over 20 employees and runs a fleet of over 25 trucks, plus a brokerage division. The company specializes in hauling refrigerated foods for companies including, but not limited to Sysco®, Stonyfield Farm® and Dannon® to the southeastern United States and areas in California.

Situation

CTW used manual methods such as a whiteboard as well as pencil and paper to handle dispatching and accounting for years before the staff decided to research software solutions. CTW executives had discussed investing in a dispatching software program for quite some time before they made the jump.
“Our customer demands have grown exponentially since CTW Transport’s founding,” said Lisa Lannelli, QuickBooks® user and IT Professional. “The needs of the customer are different now and we have to keep up with them. We knew that the move to an automated software solution was the next best step for CTW to make.”

The Prophesy Solution

Costas, together with Lisa, reviewed a customized software solution as well as five other programs during the research process. After much consideration, they decided to contact the sales team at Prophesy to learn more about industry-preferred Prophesy Dispatch. After reviewing additional information on Prophesy Dispatch, Lisa set up a demonstration of the solution with National Sales Manager Kevin Pasternack.

“Kevin was so knowledgeable about the product,” explained Lisa. “We learned that Prophesy Dispatch accommodated all of our company needs and was reasonably priced.”

CTW Transport was impressed with Prophesy Dispatch’s ability to organize their business and its ability to seamlessly integrate with QuickBooks. Costas and Lisa were also pleasantly surprised to learn that the robust solution was more cost-effective than others that they had looked at. In July of 2010, CTW selected a 6-user license of Prophesy Dispatch with QuickBooks accounting interface.

Training and Implementation

Soon after the purchase, the CTW Transport staff attended web-based training sessions with Training and Implementation Consultant, Steve Knauber. Later that year, CTW Transport brought Steve into their office to better learn the company’s day-to-day workings.

“Steve came to our Peabody office to further train our staff,” described Lisa. “This was beneficial because he was able to see how our business worked firsthand. He jumped right in and showed us how to take care of trouble items with ease.”

The CTW staff has also attended an Open Training course in Prophesy’s Bloomfield, Connecticut office.

Results

CTW has grown since implementing Prophesy DispatchSeries and currently runs a 9-user license of Prophesy Dispatch with QuickBooks integration, SQL Server interface and Multi-Company and Brokerage modules. They also use Prophesy modules for EDI, Mileage and Routing, IFTA tax preparation, driver log auditing, driver management, electronic fuel card import, customer web portal and document imaging.

Accellos’ load and route optimization software and SBI’s agricultural ERP integrate to deliver consistently minimized miles, maximized load capacity and reduced costs

Accellos is pleased to announce a product integration between our load and route optimization software and SBI Software’s robust agriculture-tailored ERP solution. This best-of-breed partnership creates a customized integration specifically built to help growers and garden centers leverage efficiencies while effectively managing their transportation needs.

The seamless integration offers the ability to select orders in the SBI software and export them to AccellosOne Optimize. Optimize consolidates the orders into shipments and converts them to full and/or multi-stop truckloads. Loads can be built one-way or round-trip. Once loads are built in Optimize, they are transmitted to the SBI software where the loads can be managed throughout the delivery cycle.

This user-friendly integration exceeds customer expectations by taking into account items such as equipment requirements, delivery time windows, appointment times, hours of service, multi-pick/multi-drop, backhauls, and more.

“This integration offers the ultimate solution for the grower or garden center end-user. SBI did an outstanding job at making the integration seamless and user-friendly,” said Ross Elliot, EVP and CTO at Accellos. “The Optimize/ERP integration has the ability to consistently minimize miles, maximize capacity of loads and reduce labor and transportation costs for our users.”

For more information, visit http://www.accellos.com/optimize.

Osgood Textile purchased Accellos’ warehouse management solution in December to boost productivity by shortening order fulfillment times.

Osgood’s has been sourcing fine fabrics for over 60 years. The company is known for its versatile inventory, including cashmere, silks, vintage fabrics and more wools than anyone in the U.S.

The company’s background is not your typical rags to riches story, due to the fact that its rags were ultimately what led to its success!

Bob Kahan, owner and President of Osgood, had the family business handed down to him after three generations of hard work in the industry. The company’s unique, tradition-enriched business has appealed to and accumulated a wide variety of customers from all over the world, including those in theatre groups and fashion designers.

With 72,000 square feet of showroom and retail space and over 15,000 different drapery prints in stock at all times, it’s no wonder why Osgood is known as one of the largest fabric stores in the country.

Even with a company as well known and appreciated as Osgood, it goes without saying that even the greatest of businesses can use some improvement. Accellos is honored to assist in maximizing the efficiency of in-warehouse processes through the help of its warehouse management solution.

Accellos, a TPAC 2012 Silver Sponsor, will be presenting in booth 32 at this year’s Vancouver event

Accellos is excited to announce that we will be attending and are a Silver Sponsor of TPAC 2012.

The Third Party Advantage Conference is an annual event showcasing third party products that work with Sage ERP Accpac and Sage CRM. This year’s conference will take place March 11-13 at the River Rock Casino Resort in the greater Vancouver, BC area.

Representatives from Accellos will be in Booth #32 exhibiting our warehouse management system Accellos One Warehouse and its integration with Sage ERP Accpac. We will also be unveiling our new video case study of car cover innovator Budge Industries, as well as giving a presentation entitled “The Five Drivers of Distribution Complexity for Midsized Companies.” Here is a synopsis of the presentation:

The Five Drivers of Distribution Complexity for Midsized Companies

Managing the flow of goods to your customer has never been more complex. Whether it is compliance labeling, EDI or other value added services, customers continue to be more demanding of their suppliers. This complexity can often seem overwhelming for a small to midsized business because they may not have the expertise or budget to deal with these complexities.

This presentation will outline several drivers for distribution complexity and identify steps for addressing this complexity in manner suited for small and midsized businesses (quickly and cost effectively). This session will also include several examples of Sage ERP Accpac users have managed complex distribution requirements with fully integrated supply chain software from Accellos.

We look forward to seeing you at the show!
