NFL Lockout Will Be a Good Thing for Fans

The NFL Lockout is going to end up being a good thing. People will see that and think I am crazy or I am not a football fan. However, the NFL is probably the sport that I pay closest attention to during the season, mostly because it is easy to follow once or twice per week. From a fan's perspective, especially those who play fantasy football, it is very easy to go overboard on the amount of information we consume. It is because of this overload that I think once this lockout ends (hopefully soon!) my enthusiasm will be so much stronger than it could have been if news had been coming out this entire time.

Why the Gold Cup Loss is Worse Than You Think

I know what most of you are thinking. Soccer? Really? The fact is that here in the U.S. we will continue to have that reaction. Heck, even I'm amazed I'm pulling out a soccer post. Over the weekend, the U.S. Men's National Team lost 4-2 to Mexico in the Gold Cup final. The loss itself wasn't overly surprising as the U.S. had been struggling in recent weeks in multiple games. It is because of this that at first glance it may not seem like a big deal. For soccer in this country, however, it is much worse than you may think.

The reason my fantasy golf team lacked in Americans for the US Open is because I figured they would continue to disappoint us in big tournaments... Pretty disappointing overall, I must say. I struggle to find one American (maybe Phil) who I'd bet on to win a major this year (or next). I'd still bet on Tiger to win the British and PGA this year over any other American.

Book Review: Death To The BCS

It probably won't win any big awards. It wasn't written by a literature genius. It still may be one of the most important books ever for fans of college football. After reading this book, I have learned not only to hate the BCS, but to hate the entire bowl system and what it represents. It is hard to explain the level of corruption there is in the game of college football. So much so that they needed an entire book to explain it in simple terms.

Amazon Showcases Kindle Success; What Does it Mean?

Today, Amazon announced that their newest generation of the Kindle e-reader is the biggest selling product ever sold by Amazon, surpassing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. A congratulations is in order for Amazon for putting out a great product that I would fully recommend to anyone who likes to read on a regular basis. The news itself is pretty pointless though. The reason this is such a big story is because the internet, and those who browse it, find a way to argue points that are irellevant.

NCAA Continues To Baffle Fans

The NCAA has a weird way of doing things these days. It has to be a case of clear split-personality. Today, officials decided to investigate Ohio State football players for receiving impermissible benefits. As a Wisconsin/Michigan fan, I was pretty excited to read the story and see what they did wrong. You can imagine my anger and enhanced hatred of the Buckeyes when I read that those rascal football players may have received free tatoos in exchange for their autographs. (/Sarcasm)
