Branch Transfer Accounting with Reports

A branch transfer is nothing but stock sent from Head Office/one Branch to another branch. Where as Consignment Transfer is sending the stock from either Head Office of Branch Office to its Agent. The Agent gets commission on the sale of Consignment where as Branch is the part of the organization. We can account such transaction in Tally ERP 9 with the help of Consignment/Branch Transfer VAT/Tax Class, and Branch/ Divisions Account Group. And there are two different Branch Accounting for Inter-Branch and Intra-Branch Transfers.

In both the cases you have create the Branch Ledger under Branch/ Division Account Head and stock received from Head Office should be taken as Purchases and returned stock to the Head Office should be treated as Sales. You have to select a different VAT/Tax Class while creating ledger.

Inter-Branch Transfer

When the goods are transferred to its branch located within the same state then this is known as the Inter-Branch Transfer. And it won't affect the VAT. Only we have to create a ledger of the branch under Branch/ Division. For stock receipts you need to select Purchase Accounts Group Head and used in VAT Returns should be YES and VAT/Tax Class must be Consignment/Branch Transfer Inward. For stock sent to branch select Sales Accounts Group Head and used in VAT Returns should be YES and VAT/Tax Class must be Consignment/Branch Transfer Outward.

Ledgers Creation

Lets start creation the ledgers for Branch Transfers, for that you at least a Branch Ledger, a Branch Inward and a Outward Ledgers. So start with Branch Ledger.

You can create the inward ledger with the help of the replica below.

And regarding the outward the procedure is same as above but think in reverse manner regarding the selections as shown below.

Transaction Entries

After creating the required ledgers you need to pass the entry using the Purchase Voucher and Sales Voucher and there are no special Voucher Types for Branch Transactions in Tally ERP 9.

If there are any stock sent to the same branch then use the Sales Voucher entry for recording such transaction as shown below.

VAT Computation Report

You see the complete report of the Consignment/Branch Inward and Outward Transactions in a single place. Select the menu options shown as below to get the place which is know as VAT Computation screen.

Gateway of Tally > Display > Statutory Reports > VAT > VAT Computation

By Default it won't show Press F12 Key and Select YES for showing all VAT Classes.

This is how a branch inward and outward transactions are handling in the case of Inter-State Branch Transfers.

Intra-Branch Transfer

If the Goods are transferred to its branch located out of the state then it is known as the Intra-Branch Transfer. There is no scope for Central Sales Tax like wise Inter-State Transfers VAT. But the receiving branch has to issue the F Form to the supplying branch in the place of C Form. Where the C Form is issued if it effect the CST @ 2%. Therefore Intra-Branch Transfers won't effect CST 2%.

And come the accounting entry in Tally is completely as same as in the case of Inter-State Transfer, but in Sales or Purchase vouchers entries you need to select F Form where in the Inter-State Transfer you have selected Not Applicable.

Output VAT @ 5% Ledger Creation

After setting Configuration for Company and Creating VAT Sales Ledger in Tally EPR 9, you need to create Output VAT Ledger where VAT amount against the Assessable Value of Sales needs to be calculated and reported in as per Accounting Standards. Hence, you can get the VAT amount of various Classifications such as 1%, 5%, 14.5%, and even more based on your State or Province. Tally Software has came up with updated Tax rules where Tally Software will be updated with the new Statutory Information with the help of Stat file. You can read article about Updating your Stat file in Tally ERP Software.

You can get reports about the Output Vat under Statutory Reports. Now lets go to create ledger for Output VAT Account. I am creating a VAT Ledger for 5% VAT Charges. Type Ledger name as VAT @ 5% or Output VAT @ 5% or whatever you wish give the name for the ledger. Select Duties & Taxes group for this ledger from the List of Groups. Select Type of Duty/Tax as VAT and VAT Sub Type as Output VAT. select Output VAT @ 5% from the list of VAT/TAX Class. And select rounding method as Normal Rounding and Rounding Limit as “0”. If this is already running Ledger then provide the Opening Balance otherwise leave it as blank.

Input VAT @ 5% Ledger Creation

After setting Configuration for Company and Creating VAT Purchases Ledger in Tally EPR 9, you need to create Input VAT Ledger where VAT amount against the Assessable Value of Purchases needs to be calculated and reported in as per Accounting Standards. VAT Adjustment Voucher Type Class

Tally ERP 9 providing the automated VAT Adjustment entry for it's user by just creating a Journal Voucher Class, which is know as VAT Adjustment Class. To do so you need to alter the Journal Voucher. Most of you would know why need to create this class? We would get the same Accounting Treatment for Sales Tax even we don't use the VAT Adjustment Class. To let my doubt clear today i contacted the Tally Solutions regarding this. After half an hour negotiation with the executive i got that we won't get the result in various VAT Return Forms if we don't use the VAT Adjustment Class.

Open Tally ERP 9 Accounting Package Icon from your Desktop or from Programs menu from Start button.
Load your Company for creating VAT Adjustment Class in Journal Voucher.
Select Accounts Info option under Masters from Gateway of Tally screen.
Then click on Voucher Types.
Click on Alter and select the Journal from the list of Voucher Type.
Straightly come under Name of Class on your right hand side in Voucher Type Alteration screen.
Type the name as VAT Adj. Class or your give the name as your wish and press Enter Key.
In the next screen you need to enable Use Class for VAT Adjustments option by selecting Yes.
And finally accept the changes by pressing Entry Key untill you get out of the screen.

So, it is recommended to create a Voucher Type Class for VAT Adjustment in Journal Voucher. So, I take the privilege in this regard and written the points in step by step below.

Voucher Type Class for Sales @ 5% VAT

It is the error driving method that directly entering the Sales Voucher entry for VAT Calculation in Tally ERP 9. While selecting appropriated VAT/Tax Class from the list of Tax Classes, the Data Entry operator would be tempted to select the wrong Class in a hurry. Even he would select Sundry Creditor instead of Sundry Debtor due to ambiguity. It would lead to the wrong Tax Filing and wrong Accounting Maintenance. So, It is better to make this work some what easier to filter the required classes for each and every Taxable Sales. Tally ERP 9 has come up with a solution called Voucher Class. Here you can restrict the Ledger and which aromatically restricts the VAT Classes. And even we can restrict to display only Sundry Debtors.

Voucher Class creation can be achieved with a simple alteration to the Sales Voucher. For this i am creating a Sales Voucher Class for handing Sales @ 5% VAT/Tax. Follow the following points step by step.

Open Tally ERP 9.
Load or select the Company for which you want to create Voucher Class.
Select Accounting Info under Master.
Voucher Types.
Alter.
You can see list of existing Voucher Types. Select the Sales.
Directly come under Name of Class on your right hand side in Voucher Type Alteration screen.
Give give for the Voucher Class for example Sales @ 5%.
After giving the name press entry you will be direct to a screen where you need to enter the following information as per your requirement.

Under Exclude these Groups select the appropriate Account Groups which you want to restrict during voucher entry.
Under Include these Groups select the appropriate Account Groups which you want to allow during voucher entry.
for Default Accounting Allocation for each item in invoice option select the appropriate Inventory Purchase Ledger from the list here i am taking Sales @ 5%.
And you need to select VAT Ledger for that so you can select VAT/Tax Ledger such as Output VAT @ 5% under Additional Accounting Entries to be added in invoice. If there are any additional charges like Freight, Labor Charges are there you can select them as well under this option.

Finally Accept the changes.

Enable VAT for Stock Item

When creating Stock Item Taxable Purchases or Taxable Sales in Tally ERP 9, most of the people forget that there would be a VAT Commodity for the Stock Item that you can know how much the VAT is charged against a particular Stock Item in Tally ERP 9. So, before you do this you need to Create VAT Commodity in Tally ERP 9. You can learn about this from Creating VAT Commodity in Tally ERP 9 Article. And we have taught you about Creating Stock Items earlier. So, for further enhancement here we are altering the existing Stock item. If you want to learn how to create Stock Item you can know it from Create Single Stock Item in Tally ERP 9 article. So, here you need to alter the existing Stock Item from the Stock Items List.

Select Alter option from Stock Items menu.
Select a Stock Item from the list of Stock Items.
Just come under VAT Details section on your right hand side.

Select a VAT Commodity which suites for your Stock Item.
Put the VAT Rate of the Stock Item and Accept.

What is VAT Commodity in Tally ERP 9

VAT Commodity (Andhra Pradesh) Creation in Tally ERP 9

When you dealing with VAT in Tally ERP 9, it is the best way to create VAT Commodity for a group of stock items which are listed in VAT Goods by the Commercial Tax Department of your State. In this article i tell you the process how to do so. I have selected Andhra Pradesh State VAT Goods. Lets remind that what are the things to do before this. You need to enable your Company for working with VAT Accounting. And after that you need to create Stock Items, Purchase and Sales Ledgers and finally VAT calculation Ledgers known as Input VAT and Output VAT Ledgers.

However, it is not mandatory to create the VAT Commodity. It is an optional point if not need to provide Commodity wise reporting.

Follow the below point to compete this task even you see the above image for your reference.

Open Tally ERP 9
Load or Open the Company where you want to create VAT Commodity.
Select Inventory Info from Gateway of Tally under Masters.
Select VAT Commodity and finally click on Create.
And You need to give the details such as Name and VAT details such as Commodity Code, Schedule Number, and Schedule Serial Numbers. Finally accept the changes.

Enabling VAT Accounting in Tally ERP 9

Every business organization who are dealing with Sales of goods need to pay off the VAT charges to the State Government as per the VAT rules. So, you must know the amount of charges to pay off VAT against the Assessable Sale Value that you get for a specific period. It is the most important thing to set out Configuration for your Company in Tally ERP 9 to make effect the VAT automatic calculation.

To Configure VAT for your Company in Tally ERP 9 first you need to open your company and select Features from Button Area. If you can't see this button go Gateway of Tally screen. Or you click F11 Key. You Company Features menu here you need to select Statutory & Taxation option.

Here you can see all the Statutory & Tax Configurations available in your State. Just enable VAT by selecting Yes for Enable Value Added Tax (VAT).

After that you need to enter VAT Details with the help of Set/Alter VAT Details option. And you need to provide your VAT Details as shown below.

Report an Error to Google Adsense Team

In the earlier article i promised you that i tell you how to send an error report to Adsense Report? I was searching to inform the Adsense Team about the Adsense Report mistake which took place in April 2013. It was drastically collapsed my Adsenes for Content Host in April 2013, which i revealed you in the Adsense Mistake in April, 2013 article. Regarding that i posted a comment in the Google Product Forum which i told earlier itself. But, i just don't want to stop from there i wanted to inform the adsense team, But how? Then i found Feedback in Google Adsense Page.

You don't need to search the thousands of search results from Google Search Engine, just open your Adsense Account, from the Home page itself you can send the feedback to the Adsense Team.

You can find the Help option on the top right corner of your Adsense Home page as shown in the above image. just click on it. And you will find the search box for your solutions about Google Adsense or can read the Suggested Article written by the Team. Even after the long search in those page, you couldn't find your way for the problem. The you can simply send a feed back about the mistake by clicking on the Send Feedback link.

Before sending the feedback to the team please open the page where you are getting the mistake after that select this option for better understanding of your problem. After that describe about the problem in the page, even you can highlight a specific area in the page by Dragging on it. So, that Adsense team can better understand about your problem.

Finally you can see a confirmation message regarding the submission of your feedback. Google won't replay you regarding your query as it get a lot of feedback from the publishers.

Wrong Adsense Report, Since April'2013

Dear Adsensers, it is really a big mistake done by the Adsense Team since April, 2013. Might be the reason that the system maintenance or something else going in Google Adsense. Upto last month my adsense account was getting a fail earnings from Hosted Adsense for Content. And this is the report of my last month i.e. March, 2013 report.

As you seen the above report there is no Estimated earning for Adsense for Hosted Content, but adsense shows the Adsense for Content and Adsensense for Search correctly. Regarding this issue CFWheeler has posted a Question in the Google Products Forum. I have joined this and some many are facing this kind of problem as well.

Before April' 2013 there is no any mistake by the Adsense which reveals the below report.

In the above March Report you can see the correct Estimate Earnings for Adsense for Hosted Content. I hope Google would solve this mistake soon for the better publishers society. After a long time i started the Google Reader to look out my feeds. When i opened the Google Reader it alerted me with a message that Google is going to shutting down the Google Reader on July 1st 2013. It was announced in Google's Official Blog on March 13, 2013; in article called a Second Spring of Clearning.

Being a Blogger and small web publishers i saddened by this news that Demise of Google Reader. after reading the above official announcement i hurried myself to find the best alternative for Google Reader. I have only two months time in my hand to round the web for the best alternative to transfer my RSS Subscribers and RSS Feeds.

This website has 67 RSS Subscribers, earned over a year. Majority of this website subsribers are using the Google Reader to subscribe to the RSS Feed. The Subscribers the backbones of the blogs so, we lose the them as the Google Reader no more there after July 1st 2013. Hence, we need to take proper steps to keep hold on our subscribers.

As one way shutdowns there the second way opens up. There are quite few more Google Reader alternatives. But i loved Feedly alot. You can keep track of all your favourite websites, Podcasts and even Youtube Channes in a single place. It has advance multi-layout options. And transfers the websits into pocket-size cards with quick loading and easy to read. You can syncronize the article in your Phone, Tablet, or Computer and even can share through Google+, Faebook, and Twitter. It is available as web-app just like Google Reader, it has even app for iOS and Android. And other web based alternatives include Bloglines (yes, they are still around), Feedspot (the UI is very Reader-esque), Old Reader (minimalistic) and NewsBlur (open source).

So, it is the time to say good bye to Google Reader and invite the new RSS Reader.

Activate SMS Service in Gmail Chat

Basically i am Gmail user and have my friend too in my contacts. We regularly chat and e-mail very seldom. It was a tough time when i wanted to pass an urgent information when he is offline. I am not comfort to sent SMS using my Smart Phone Nokia C5-03 so i have to connect my Mobile to my Personal Computer to send SMS or i need to register in any one of the Free SMS Servicing websites. I was preferring the second one. After that i was getting so may telemarketing Calls and SMS's to my mobile.

One day i saw an unexpected option from the GMail service that we can send SMS's to our contacts directly from the Chat widget in the Gmail screen. That is true. Do you want to enable this for your Gmail Account. So, lets see the procedure for setting up this kind of service in Gmail.

For all you need to have a Gmail Account from Google Inc., if you don't have account can create a new account from here GMail.

Just Click on the Gear Icon (shown on right side) you can see a few options.

From the list click on Settings option.

You can see number of option under Settings like General, Labels, Accounts and Import etc., Just find out the Labs and click on the Labs option.

In the Search for a lab text field enter SMS you can see SMS in Chat Lab for your gmail account.

Just click on enable option and Save the Changes.

You can see a gear icon on upper right corner of your gmail account when ever you sign in to your Gmail account.

After all your gmail account will be reloaded and just go to Chat widget in Gmail Screen and just scroll the Cursor over your existing contact under Chat widget. You can see a button with More. just click on it and select Sent SMS option. and select the Country the contact persons mobile operator belongs and enter the Mobile Number and save it.

Now you can continue you chat with your friend when you are offline.

Debit Note Voucher Entry

After receiving the sales return from the customer the deed stock or outdated unsold stock needs to be returned to the supplier in order to reduce over-due in the books of suppliers. It might be the deed stock over damaged stock must be sent to the suppliers and the same needs to be recorded in the books of accounts as Purchase Returns. It can entered in Tally ERP 9 using the Debit Note Voucher. As we debit the supplier account in our books of account we issue him a Debit Note. There is no question of Purchase Return without purchase. So, keep it in mind.

If you enter Purchase Return (here in tally Debit Note) of Cash Purchase you debit the Cash Ledger otherwise you debit the Supplier (Sundry Creditor as usual) Ledger. In case of the purchase return sent against the Credit Purchase then you need to debit the supplier ledger which you credited in the Purchase Voucher. And come to the Credit side either you can credit the Purchase Ledger or can create a separate ledger as Purchase Return. Yet you create the Purchase Return ledger in tally you need to keep it under Purchase Accounts Group.

After selecting the Accounting Voucher under the Transactions from Gateway of Tally screen hold the Ctrl key and press F9 function key to get the Debit Note voucher or press Debit Note button available in the Button Area.

If the Debit Note Button is disabled and not opening the debit note voucher set Use Debit/Credit Notes option as yes from Accounting Features screen. Find this option in the below screen.

Purchase Return Ledger Creation

You can create ledger for Purchase Returns in Tally ERP 9. There is no extra List of Groups for Purchase Returns. You need to create the Purchase Returns ledger under Purchase Accounts Group. Type the name as Purchase Returns or whatever you want to give the name for the ledger.

Even you can record the Purchase Returns in Tally using the same Purchase Ledger. Only you have select the Purchase Ledger while passing the Debit Note Voucher. It will show on the credit side in the Purchase Register.

As the sales happen in business there is possibility for sales return as well and that needs to be recorded in books of accounts. There must be a sale prier to the sales return. It is not possible to happen Sales Return with out Sales Entry in the books of account. If there is must check the last year Sales Ledger. It is the major point one must keep in mind while accounting the sales return. This can be entered in Tally ERP 9 using the Credit Note Voucher. You credit the customer ledger in the books, therefore it is the credit note.

If you enter Sales Return (here in tally Credit Note) of Cash Sales you credit the Cash Ledger otherwise you credit the Customer (Sundry Debtor as usual) Ledger. In case of the sales return received against the Credit Sale then you need to credit the customer ledger which you debited in the Sales Voucher. And come to the Debit side either you can debit the Sales Ledger or can create a separate ledger as Sales Return. Yet you create the Sales Return ledger in tally you need to keep it under Sales Accounts Group.

After selecting the Accounting Voucher under the Transactions from Gateway of Tally screen hold the Ctrl key and press F8 function key to get the Credit Note voucher or press Credit Note button available in the Button Area.
