Everyone's biggest problem with Writing Task is finishing both tasks on time. What no one tells you is that if you don't finish either one, you lost a whole band point. This never has to happen to you!

The key to making sure that you report and essay qualify as finished is that they have a clear Conclusion paragraph. That paragraph can be one sentence long, if necessary. And the best news of all is, you have already written that sentence!

At the end of the Introduction (paragraph 1) of the Writing Task 1 report, you have written a summary of the information. In the same position - at the end of the first paragraph - in Writing Task 2, you have written your Thesis Statement. Simply be repeating both of those sentences at the beginning of a Conclusion paragraph, you have made your writing qualify as finished - even if there is more you wanted to write. And you don't lose a whole band point needlessly.

Here's what you do:

1)Make sure you do write a good summary in Writing Task 1 and a good Thesis Statement in Writing Task 2. (Your report and essay won't work without them anyway.)

2)Watch your watch! No one is going to keep you on track as far as elapsed time is concerned. It's up to you to monitor your own progress.

3)In Writing Task 1, if 18 minutes have passed and you're still writing Body Paragraph sentences, finish the sentence you're writing, quickly. Then, start a new paragraph (and make sure it looks like a new paragraph), and begin it with the words, "In conclusion,..." Then rewrite the summary. If you can, change a word or two (but not the meaning). If not, just write it exactly the way you did at the end of the Introduction.

4)In Writing Task 2, if 38 minutes have passed and you're still writing Body Paragraph sentences, finish the sentence you're writing, quickly. Then, start a new paragraph (and make sure it looks like a new paragraph), and begin it with the words, "In conclusion,..." Then rewrite the Thesis Statement. (This needs to be done in any case. It is an essential part of the essay.)

5)Ideally, in Writing Task 2, you should write the Restatement in reverse order of the Thesis Statement. For example, if it is an opinion essay, and you wrote your opinion and three reasons in the Thesis Statement, write the three reasons first, and then the opinion, in the Restatement. Again, if you have time and can, change a word or two (but not the meaning). If not, just write it exactly the way you did at the end of the Introduction.

6)Make sure you finish these "In conclusion,..." sentences on time. The task ends at exactly 60 minutes.

Obviously, this will not save you any lost points if all you have is a few sentences and your essay is far too short in the first place. But if you have written most of the essay, and followed the format, it's essential that you not lost a whole band point just because it isn't finished. So make it look finished. If you want to know more about IELTS,IELTS materials free download than visit our site:IELTS STUDIES
Statistics: Posted by julia0345 — Sat Sep 25, 2010 4:33 pm

Hi,

I have done my bachelor in Computer Science from aboard and I got 2.9 CGPA out of 4.0 and Now I am preparing for IELTS and GRE (General Test) for admission in MS (Computer Science) Program and most universities eligibility criteria is min. 3.0 GPA. Does GRE (General Test) score exempt my GPA (that is low for current eligibility criteria).

Warmest Regards,
Raheel Kadiwal
Statistics: Posted by raheel kadiwal — Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:23 pm

This is a very important aspect you need to address before venturing further. If you are interested in going abroad, then most of the Indian clinical degrees (Medicine; Surgery; OBG; Pediatrics; Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology) are probably useless unless done in some premier institution like AIIMS. In such cases its prudent if you choose subjects like Microbiology & Immunology; Psychiatry; Pathology; Pharmacology; Anatomy & Genetics; Community Medicine Etc. Such subjects will get you a good placement in a decent institution abroad. In case you are very much interested in clinical fields then its prudent to take the qualifying exams of the country you intend to go and do a 3 year residency there in the clinical subject of your choice.

Some good places for a Indian doctor to settle down are:

United States of America:
Unfortunately, the Indian MBBS degree has little significance in USA. M.B.B.S. degree holders cannot go for further studies in medicine unless you pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). But you can seek go for M.S. or Ph D programs in non-clinical subjects like Immunology, Bacteriology, Anatomy, Genetics, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Pathology, Bio-medical Engineering, Public Health, Biotechnology etc. You can go for MS or MBA in Hospital Management or Healthcare Administration.

In order to practice medicine in the united states, an overseas doctor has to compulsorily pass their USMLE Licensing exams (unless he/she has gone there on a fellowship contract).

Australia & New Zealand: This is currently one of the easiest and most rewarding locations for an Indian doctor interested to go abroad. According to work rules of Australia, a qualified doctor should be paid a minimum salary of $ 1 lakh/- an year, so if a doctor manages to pass their licensing exam then he can be assured of a good posting and decent pay. MRCP is valid in Australia as well as New Zealand. For more details regarding the same CLICK HERE.

United Kingdom: Of recent times UK has become a less preferred destination for Indian doctors as getting a job in UK has become tough. But it would be a good idea to work there at least temporarily and move on the the USA as one can get multiple entry for US from there. PLAB is mandatory to practice in UK, while MRCP/ FRCS exams are valid in the UK. For more details about PLAB CLICK HERE. For more details about MRCP CLICK HERE.

Nepal: You can do your post graduation in Nepal. With these degrees you can do your private practice within INDIA. For more details CLICK HERE.

Republic of Seychelles: University of Seychelles offers WHO recognized PG degrees for Indian Graduates. I believe the blame is not to go on the part of the Ielts taker or on the Ielts organizers. What I suspect to be the reason is that the ielts taker did study hard but the technique applied to answering the questions were perhaps not the right ones.Just answering each and every questions is not the way to score high in the exam, the answers need to be precise and as per requested by the examiner(subject to specifications mentioned in the question paper).
If we take it in a "BENEFIT OF DOUBT", it could have been merely the hard luck of the candidate to be the unfortunate one amongst the crowd. Wish you better luck next time!!
Statistics: Posted by achieverspointsunita — Sun Jul 04, 2010 4:05 pm
