Jojoba oil derives from a large shrub that can grow up to 15 feet in height. Unlike the name, jojoba oil is not actually an oil but is an odorless and colorless wax that comes from the seeds of the jojoba plant. This plant can be found in North America, mainly around the southwest region of the United States and Northern Mexico. Jojoba oil has been used for centuries to treat burns and open wounds due to the fact it helps heal skin more quickly.

How It Treats Burns and Wounds

Jojoba oil aids in Vitamin E production when combined together and applied to the skin. Studies have shown that the oil stimulates the production of collagen in the skin which is why wounded skin heals much more quickly and scarring is less prevalent. Jojoba oil will not inflame or irritate the skin further – Instead it will soothe and reduce irritation caused by burns or open wounds. Jojoba oil will stop infections from open wounds from entering the skin due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

How It Heals Acne

We all know how painful and frustrating acne can be. It seems to be that when one outbreak of pimples finally goes away, another outbreak shows up. It can leave your skin inflamed and irritated, making it hard not to pick or pop at the pimples. Fortunately, jojoba oil has been found to be extremely effective at treating acne. Due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, this oil can eliminate acne-causing bacteria while soothing inflamed acne-prone skin. It can unclog your pores by naturally pulling impurities from your skin, allowing your pores to breathe freely. Jojoba oil is often described as having similar chemical compounds like the sebum our bodies create and because of this, works well with our skin to penetrate deeply and heal acne at the core. Jojoba oil can be used as your main moisturizer for your face and body and absorbs into the skin within a few minutes. Unlike most oils, it won’t oxidize on your skin so you won’t get skin damage if you wear it in the sun. It’s simply AMAZING. You can use it directly on affected breakout areas, by applying a small amount to a q-tip with 1-2 drops of tea tree oil. You can also create your own facial scrub or body scrub by mixing it with an exfoliating ingredient like raw cane sugar or white salt.

Facial Treatments

Scrub

1 Tablespoon Jojoba Oil

1 Tablespoon Raw Cane Sugar

Combine together and gently massage onto your freshly cleansed, damp skin and do this for 1 to 2 minutes then rinse off with warm water, dry gently, and apply an oil-free natural moisturizer from Young Living or you can use jojoba oil as your moisturizer.

DIY Glowing Face Serum

Ingredients:

2 oz glass dropper bottle

20 drops frankincense

10 drops lavender

8 drops blue tansy

organic cold-pressed jojoba oil

Prep:

Fill the bottle with frankincense and lavender. Then fill the bottle with jojoba oil almost to the top. Add in blue tansy and it’s ready to use. I recommend using this face serum morning and night after cleansing your face. Pure natural bliss in a bottle for glowing and healthy skin.

Never refrigerate pure jojoba oil because it can break down the chemicals in the oil, making it ineffective.

When most people hear that they can apply essential oils to their skin to help support clear skin, they immediately think that the oils will make their skin more oily and cause more breakouts. This is completely false because essential oils are not really oils. Essential oils are not made up of the fatty acids that we find in actual oils. Valerie Gennari Cooksley, who is the author of the book, Aromatherapy: Soothing Remedies to Restore, Rejuvenate, and Heal, describes essential oils as “highly concentrated plant constituents possessing potent medicinal and cosmetic qualities.” You must treat essential oils with extreme care and caution as they are very concentrated but diluted properly, they can have amazing benefits for your skin! Let’s delve into the real deal facts about essential oils.

Essential oils have amazing cleansing properties

Most are antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal which will help clear your skin of breakouts and minimize acne breakouts and blackheads. Some of the most effective essential oils to fight acne include tea tree oil, bergamot, clary sage, rose, lavender, grapefruit, and frankincense.

They’re incredibly versatile

If your skin becomes easily irritated by most home cleaning products and laundry detergents, you can easily make your own homemade cleaning products and laundry detergent with essential oils that will clean your home and wash your clothes – naturally. *Laundry detergent recipe posted below.*

Never apply an essential oil directly to your skin without diluting it

“Why dilute it and with what?,” is the question we’re sure you’re asking right about now. The reason you shouldn’t apply any essential oil directly to your skin without diluting it is because these oils are extremely potent and can cause serious damage to your skin including burns, rashes, and severely dry skin if not diluted/mixed with a pure carrier oil. For example, never apply tea tree oil right on your skin. Tea tree oil is stronger than benzoyl peroxide even though it is from nature. ALWAYS mix tea tree oil with a carrier oil like cold-pressed organic coconut oil or jojoba oil. Don’t dilute it by combining equal parts of both – your skin only needs 2-4 drops of an essential oil so either first apply the carrier oil to the affected areas then apply the 2-4 drops of the potent oil over the carrier oil with a q-tip; or combine about a ½ a tablespoon of a carrier oil to a bowl and add about 2 drops of potent oil to the bowl and mix together then apply to affected areas. Make sure to avoid the eye area if using tea tree essential oil.

Always test out a small patch of skin for 30 minutes before applying everywhere. If a reaction occurs, rinse off gently with a mild natural cleanser like this charcoal bar soap from Young Living and warm water.

Always read the label. Because each essential oil serves a different purpose, it’s important to read all labels, instructions, and cautions before freely using them.

Never ingest essential oils. In rare cases, a few essential oils can be ingested but again, it is important to read the labels first. If you’re unsure if you can ingest the oil or not, it is best to contact the company and find out. Never assume you can because the extremely concentrated essential oils can truly damage your internal body functions. Young Living carries a line of vitality oils which are safe for ingestion. But again, proceed with caution and these oils, though pure, are EXTREMELY CONCENTRATED. So if you want peppermint water, you only need 1 drop in a glass pitcher of clean filtered water.

You may become sensitive to the sun. Because essential oils are so strong, it can cause your skin to become very sensitive to the sun, mainly when applying citrus oils like lemon and orange to the skin. Avoid wearing these oils in the sun and if you are going out in the sun, cleanse your skin to remove the essential oils before direct contact with sunlight. Again, some may be more sensitive than others since each body is different and uniquely made.

Essential oils do not buildup in your body. Do not be concerned that essential oils will accumulate in your body over a certain length of time. As long as they are pure, they will absorb beautifully into the skin, won’t harm your cells, and then pass through the body, making them safer to use than synthetic topical and ingestible acne medications.

Essential oils are different than fragrance. Even if the bottle reads “Natural Fragrance,” do not apply to your face. The ingredient, ‘fragrance,’ can contain up to 3,000 toxic chemicals that can harm your body inside and out. Enough said.

Dermatologists won’t recommend essential oils. Why is this? Essential oils are natural, aren’t FDA-approved, and can’t have a patent placed on them – which doesn’t benefit the pharmaceutical companies or the government. The facts we have regarding the benefits of essential oils come from thousands of years of personal use by people.

DIY Laundry Detergent:

Ingredients:

5 gallon glass jug/jar

2 cups Young Living Thieves Laundry Detergent

1 cup Young Living Thieves household cleaner

1 cup washing soda/soda crystals

1 cup baking soda

enough hot water to cover the baking soda and washing soda

60 drops Young Living Lavender essential oil

Prep:

Use a 5 gallon-sized glass ball jar and combine all the ingredients. Then fill the rest of the jar with hot water and shake it up. Then transfer to a glass jar with a spout. Use 1/4 cup per load. This amount will allow you to clean 640 loads of laundry…WOW! Clean, natural, and so cost-effective!

The skin requires tender loving care just as our overall bodies require it. The skin is the largest organ on our bodies and protects us from unhealthy toxins, germs, bacteria, among other things. Since our skin works so hard to protect our internal selves, we need to take care of it as well. In addition to using skincare products, there are other things your skin craves and requires to function at its highest level.

1. Water – The body needs water to survive. It’s true. Without water, the body would not survive. Water keeps the internal body hydrated and cool, while providing the proper moisture for the skin to stay supple and moist. Caffeinated drinks can cause dehydration so replace caffeine with water!

2. Rest – The body requires rest to perform at peak levels. Since so many people live such stressful and busy lives, rest often gets put on the back burner. This is simply not okay. Rest is NEEDED for the skin to look and be healthy. Taking a light nap during the day, laying down and reading a good book for a while, meditating in silence with no distractions, or a warm bubble bath to soak the body in are all great ways to rest and de-stress.

3. Working Out – Working out keeps the body strong and healthy. It also helps the body release dangerous toxins through sweat so that they don’t build up in the body, causing the skin to look unhealthy. Blood flow pumps better throughout the body when working out, allowing the pores to open to release unhealthy toxins and sweat. Your skin will also look more radiant with a beautiful glow.

4. Eat A Healthy Diet – A healthy diet packed with fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains will keep your body healthy while helping your skin look more clear and clean. What you take in exudes through your skin so a healthy diet is vital for your skin. Minimize processed foods high in fat, sugar, and sodium – opt for eating clean and load up on vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that will be beneficial to your overall health and skin.

5. Skincare – You must cleanse morning and night to remove excess oil, acne-causing bacteria, and impurities from the skin. Then follow with a toner if you have oily skin and finish with an oil-free moisturizer to balance the pH levels of your skin and keep your skin supple and hydrated.

6. Wear Sunscreen and Avoid Over-Exposure to the Sun – Sun damage is serious and usually irreparable. It can cause dark spots to form on the skin, fine lines and wrinkles to appear years before they should, and also can cause skin cancer. If you must be out in the sun for a long period of time, load up on natural sunscreen with a high SPF. Even if you are out for a short amount of time, sunscreen is a must to keep your skin safely protected and healthy.

Follow these rules and your skin will take care of you to the best of its ability. Don’t abuse your skin and you will reap the benefits for years and years to come.

If you have done any research on poor complexion, looking tired, or why acne may occur, stress has probably appeared on a few links as a main culprit. Stress can do a number of things to our bodies like causing headaches, sleepless nights, not eating enough, overeating, causing illness, and wearing down our beloved and precious skin. Well no more! We are here to offer you an array of solutions to combat stress and it showing on your skin. Ready? Let’s go.

1. Relax – Make time every day for at least an hour to take time for you. This means doing something relaxing like reading a good book, taking a bubble bath, going for a quiet walk, taking a nap, meditating, etc. If you allow your body to unwind every day, then your stress will lessen, allowing your skin to look better quickly.

2. Follow a Routine – Utilize a skincare routine every day and night – no excuses. If you take time to care for your skin every day, then it will automatically look so much better. Cleanse, tone (if oily), and moisturize daily. Exfoliate 3 times a week to remove cellular buildup and use a face mask once or twice a week. It’s the little things…

3. Sleep – Sleep is vital for your body to function properly, internally and externally. Lack of sleep can cause you to stress more adding to a poor complexion. Your skin restores itself while you sleep so it’s important to allow 8 hours for this to happen and to give your brain and body some rest.

4. Use the Right Products – It’s important to use skincare products that are made for your type of skin. For example, if you have oily skin, look for organic and natural skincare products made for oily skin. Using the right products will help your specific skin type looks its best. Otherwise the wrong products could worsen your type of skin.

5. Eat Healthy Foods – Following a healthy diet that includes a variety of organic fruits and vegetables, grains, lean proteins, and nuts will do wonders for your skin. You are what you eat so choose to be something healthy than a greasy piece of pizza or French fries. What you eat will exude through your skin.

6. Water – Water is amazing. It is needed for our bodies to live, keeps our skin moist and hydrated, and keeps our internal bodies at a regulated temperature and keeps our bodies hydrated as well. It helps remove toxins more quickly through waste and through sweating, so drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, if not more.

7. Sunscreen – Sunscreen is necessary to wear every day whether it’s winter or summer. The sun can damage your skin with premature aging, acne, sun spots, and skin cancer so applying lotion with SPF protection should be as routine as brushing your teeth every day.

Follow these rules and your skin will look better in a very short amount of time. Find ways to relax and enjoy life because it goes by too quickly to not enjoy it. Who wants to be stressed all the time? Not us! And not you either. A happy life equals happy skin.

Skincare is absolutely necessary to have good skin. For anyone that has good skin without using great skincare products, it will catch up with you eventually – NOW is the time to invest in your skin. A solid skincare routine will keep your skin healthy while helping you maintain a youthful appearance for a very long time. At Acne Skin Site, we recommend using products that are as natural as possible and free of synthetic chemicals and preservatives.

One of my favorite brands to use is Salcura. They are completely transparent with the ingredients they use in their skincare products and you can fully trust that what you are putting on your skin will not harm your skin as long as you don’t have any allergies to any of the labeled ingredients. They say that their products “Contain NO nasties” and they really don’t! Below are two skincare items I absolutely love from Salcura.

Antiac Daily Face Wash – I received this wonderful face wash that is suitable for all skin types. It’s a deep cleansing yet gentle cleanser that is also pH neutral so it won’t strip your skin of necessary essential oils. It won’t make your skin oily and it won’t make it dry either. Amazing! If you deal with problematic skin including acne, blackheads, and/or whiteheads, this face wash is perfect for you. It’s 98% natural and felt so good on my skin. It’s safe to use daily – I recommend cleansing your face twice a day, morning and night. Your skin restores itself while you sleep which is why washing your face in the beginning of your day and at the end of your day is so important. Try not to cleanse your skin more than twice a day because this will make your skin dry by over-washing. Their face wash is free of soap which sounds odd because soap makes things clean. But soap on your face can irritate your skin which is why this face wash is so ideal! It contains natural ingredients including Aloe Vera which calms irritated and inflamed skin, Sea Buckthorn to restore and nourish your skin, Coconut Oil to hydrate your skin and make it smooth, Sunflower to clean your skin, and Rosemary to protect your skin. Salcura’s Antica Daily Face Wash is free of anything harmful to your skin including lanolin, antibiotics, parabens, sulphates, and Benzoyl Peroxide. I think you’ll love it as much as I do!

Antiac Activ Liquid Spray – This product is 97% natural and safe to use on the face and body – anywhere you struggle with problematic acne-prone skin. I’m grateful to not be currently dealing with acne breakouts on my body but when I did have some acne pop up on my face, I was able to give this product a try. It claims to be gentle but effective, and indeed it is. After cleansing your face, spray the product on lightly on affected areas and once it’s absorbed into the skin, apply your daily moisturizer. It contains wonderful natural ingredients like Sea Buckthorn to restore and nourish your skin, Rosemary to protect your skin, and Lavender for its calming and antibacterial properties on the skin. This antibacterial spray leaves no greasiness on your skin and is safe to use morning and night. Just like all of their products, nothing that can harm your skin can be found in this product including Benzoyl Peroxide which is a huge irritant. You will be amazed at how well this product works to fight acne and assist in clearing up your skin quickly.

Salcura Tea Tree Essential Oil – I love using pure tea tree oil twice a day after cleansing and moisturizing. I apply a small amount of tea tree oil (1-2 drops) on my skin with a Q-tip. I combine it with a tiny amount of coconut oil (a carrier oil) which protects my skin from the harshness of tea tree oil. Never apply tea tree oil directly to your skin without using a carrier oil or it can burn your skin. Salcura gifted me with this beautiful oil and I love it so much. It is antibacterial and literally fights any acne, blackheads, or whiteheads that try to form on my skin before it can become a problem. It works 100 times better than any synthetic acne cream including anything that has Benzoyl Peroxide in it. It’s simply the best acne-fighter ever!

I love Salcura skincare products. It’s so nice to know my skin is being nourished by products that are more than 97% natural and contain “no nasties.” I know you’ll love their products too so give them a try!

There are literally thousands of facial cleansers on the market. No wonder it’s impossible to find the best one for your skin type and skin issue. Many people try a cleanser that has worked best for their friend, sister, brother, friend of a friend, etc. Recommendations can be great but not always. Why? The truth is a cleanser that works well for one person doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to work well for another person. Each of us is different. We all have different makeups of hormones and genetics in addition to having different skin types, different lifestyles, different environments that we live in… the list goes on and on. Some people only want to use natural homemade cleansers, others want a cleanser and exfoliating treatment in one, others like gentle cleansers that won’t irritate their sensitive skin. Below we have listed some of our favorite cleansers and a brief description of each of them. We hope this helps you find the cleanser that works best for you so that you can feel confident… in your skin.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – If you are a regular reader of our blogs, this is not the first time you’ve heard us recommend Cetaphil. It’s an incredible cleanser that is recommended by dermatologists all across the globe because it works. And it works on the most sensitive of skin. It is fragrance-free and non-comedogenic which is important for anyone who deals with acne. It is so gentle that they guarantee that this cleanser will not strip your skin of the protective oils or emollients in your skin that are vital to maintaining good hydration and it will balance the pH levels of your skin. As gentle as it is, it will work effectively to remove all residue, makeup, and acne-causing bacteria from your skin. Children, teenagers, and adults can all use Cetaphil as it is gentle enough for the most delicate of skin. Your skin will feel incredibly soft after cleansing as well. They also have a cleanser made for anyone with oily skin and also offer body wash for those who suffer with body acne. Visit their website for my details.

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Scrub – This cleanser typically sells out very quickly due to its popularity. This cleanser cleanses and exfoliates the skin in one step, making it ideal for those who don’t want to spend more time than needed on caring for their skin. All residue including makeup, oil, and acne-causing bacteria are washed away while cellular buildup (dead skin cells) are gently sloughed away by the tiny microbeads found within the cleanser. This cleanser is soap-free, oil-free, and non-comedogenic. Nothing in this cleanser will clog your pores or cause you to breakout more as long as you are not allergic to any of the ingredients.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub – This cleanser is amazing! If you are looking for a gentle yet powerful cleanser and exfoliator in one, this may be your dream skincare product! It’s gentle enough to use twice a day and will cleanse your skin of bacteria, oil, and residue while gently exfoliating away dead skin cells so your pores will unclog. This cleanser contains MicroClear, which is clinically shown to remove acne by unclogging pores of deeply embedded impurities. It will leave your skin feeling clean, soft, and incredibly healthy.

Dermalogica Clearing Skin Wash – Honestly, any cleanser or skincare product you use from Dermalogica is simply amazing. Their products are gentle, effective, and contain many natural ingredients to heal and protect skin from further damage. That being said, if you suffer from acne-prone skin, this cleanser is wonderful. It is a bit more expensive than the cleansers listed above but it is on another level. This foaming cleanser removes oil and acne-causing bacteria and gently sloughs away cellular buildup with salicylic acid. Pores become unclogged and deeply embedded impurities are removed that are the main culprit of pimples. There are no artificial colors or fragrance added to the cleanser. A little cleanser goes a long way so you should be able to use this product for 3 months or so before needing to purchase more.

As important as it is to cleanse your skin, it’s just as important to moisturize as well. Make sure that you cleanse your skin twice a day, but no more than three times a day, and follow with an oil-free moisturizer to maintain proper moisture and pH levels in your skin. If you don’t moisturize, your skin will become oily and more acne breakouts will form. Make sure to cleanse and moisturize your neck every time you cleanse and moisturize your face because the skin on your neck is very delicate and needs tender loving care as well. Good luck and happy cleansing!

Pregnancy can cause hormonal changes in the body. If you don’t typically have reoccurring acne, you might find those embarrassing red and white spots popping up on your face and body to be quite a nuisance when you’re pregnant. When you’re expecting, it is recommended to not use skincare or cosmetics that contain chemicals which can be absorbed through the skin and potentially harm you or your baby. That doesn’t mean you have to be stuck with all those blemishes though. Try some of these tips for clearer, healthier skin during pregnancy to help get your pregnancy glow back!

Natural Remedies

Bypass the chemicals and try natural acne home remedies to keep your baby safe. These include:

Green Clay face masks (only use once a week)

Vitamin B6 (taken orally daily — consult with your doctor to determine the safest dosage)

Natural Acne treatments containing witch hazel or tea tree oil (applied topically daily — avoid putting 100 percent tea tree oil on acne without combining with coconut oil or almond oil to reduce the strength of powerful tea tree oil)

Remember that it’s possible for your body to have a reaction to any form of acne treatment even if it’s natural. If a skincare remedy is irritating your skin, talk to your doctor, discontinue use of the current skin treatment, and try another natural remedy.

Stay Hydrated

Keeping your body hydrated with healthy fluids is a must for any pregnant woman, though it does have an added bonus — it can make your skin appear more radiant. Drink water or coconut water (which contains natural electrolytes) throughout the day to maintain a healthy glow and to stay hydrated from the inside out. You will have to take more frequent trips to the ladies’ restroom but great hydration is vital for pregnancy – so drink up! Avoid liquids with caffeine or added unnatural sugar as these ingredients can cause you to become dehydrated very quickly.

Avoid Foods That Cause Flare-ups

It’s a common misconception that chocolate leads to acne but no two people react to the same foods exactly the same way. Rather than depriving yourself of your favorite foods because you may have heard they cause acne, spend a little time pinpointing precisely what foods are causing your skin to flare up. If you notice an increase in oil production or acne one day, think back to all of the foods you ate the day before. Try cutting them out of your diet one by one until you notice a difference. Discuss this with your doctor though as some foods are needed/required for a healthy baby.

High-glycemic index foods such as processed foods may be the culprit — it’s always a good idea to cut back on those — and foods high in refined sugar and unhealthy fats. Minimize your intake of dairy (milk specifically) and opt for almond milk instead which has more calcium than dairy milk and doesn’t cause breakouts like dairy milk does. It may take your skin a few weeks to clear up after you cut the foods out of your diet since the body needs to flush it all out; however, you should only try this with one type of food at a time, otherwise you won’t know which was the culprit. But of course, cutting out processed foods and foods high in refined sugar and unhealthy fats is always a good idea, regardless of being pregnant or not.

Gently Cleanse and Exfoliate

Keeping your skin clear of excess oil and cellular buildup (dead skin cells which cause skin to appear dry) is the key to decreasing the amount of acne on your body. Every day, cleanse your skin gently with a mild cleanser tailored to your skin type. Cleanse your face every morning and night and follow with a facial serum to add antioxidants to your skin, then apply a face moisturizer (to your neck as well) and eye cream.

Exfoliating the skin is an important step in the skincare process but how often you exfoliate depends on what kind of product you use. You can use a gentle exfoliating cleanser every night as long as the exfoliating beads within the cleanser are very gentle and soft. Otherwise, if you use a more intense exfoliating cleanser with coarser beads, limit exfoliating to 2-3 times per week, preferably in the evening. Always exfoliate gently! An exfoliating brush is wonderful to use, and as long as it’s gentle with soft bristles, you can exfoliate nightly with a regular cleanser and the exfoliating brush. Use a regular gentle cleanser in the morning – Never over-exfoliate as it can cause severely irritated skin that can breakout for being over-cleansed and stripped of essential oils needed to for healthy skin.

Pregnancy is a time to celebrate the miracle growing inside of you and to focus on your upcoming bundle of joy, not a time to worry about unsightly acne appearing on your face and body! Take care of your body by controlling what goes into it and on it and you will notice wonderful improvements to your overall health and skin.

Exfoliating your skin will gently slough away cellular buildup (dead skin cells) to allow new, fresh, rejuvenated skin to surface and glow. Instead of spending thousands of dollars over time purchasing already made body scrubs, why not make your own at home? They are all-natural, safe, and extremely effective – And of course easy on the wallet! Continue reading to try some of our favorite homemade body scrubs listed below!

Sea Salt & Olive Oil

Combine 1/3 cup of fine sea salt and 1 Tablespoon of olive oil. Mix together and use it 3 times a week minimum to refresh and renew your skin in the shower after cleansing. Keep the excess in a sealed jar to keep it preserved. The sea salt will gently get rid of dry skin while the olive oil will leave your skin feeling super soft and hydrated…without clogging your pores.

Organic Cane or Brown Sugar & Water

Simply mix about 1/3 cup of sugar with water while in the shower to gently remove dead skin and unclog pores. The sugar will naturally dissolve on your skin, leaving it super smooth and polished.

Organic Cane or Brown Sugar & Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Combine ½ cup of sugar with extra virgin olive oil to create a beautifully gentle yet powerful scrub that will literally leave your skin glowing and smelling oh so sweet! Feel free to add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to the scrub for even more skin-boosting power.

(Organic) Raw Sugar, Coconut Oil, and Lavender

Combine about 4 Tablespoons of raw sugar, 1 Tablespoon cold-pressed organic coconut oil, and about 4 drops of lavender essential oil. If it is of liquid consistency or a bit runny, add more sugar because it should be more like a paste. Use as a body scrub and you will be amazed by the results. Raw sugar will gently remove cellular buildup, coconut oil will hydrate the skin while adding amazing benefits to the skin since it is antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral. Lavender essential oil will leave your skin soothed and soft, while leaving your state of mind in a very calm and relaxed place.

Raw Almonds & Raw Honey

Finely ground about ½ cup of raw almonds (you can do so in a coffee grinder) and mix the grounds with raw unfiltered honey. Use as a wonderful exfoliating treatment on your face and body after cleansing the skin then rinse off with warm water. Honey is antimicrobial and antibacterial so if you suffer from acne anywhere on your body, honey will work to fight acne and prevent future breakouts from occurring.

As you can see, the sky is the limit on what kind of body scrubs you can try on your skin. Get creative and see what awesome concoctions you can come up with as well! We know you will love the body scrubs listed above so don’t wait any longer…try one tonight! Happy exfoliating…gently of course!

Please note: The acne problem areas listed for each facial area are general guidelines and do not apply to everyone. For example, a breakout on your forehead doesn’t automatically mean there’s something severely wrong with your digestive tract or your liver. Always consult your physician for a proper diagnosis.

Forehead Acne

Causes: May stem from digestive problems meaning certain foods can have a difficult time being broken down; Small intestine problems; Liver problems; Poor sleeping patterns; Overloaded with stress; Toxic chemical build-up; High sugar consumption; Hair Products and/or bangs which transfer oil to the forehead causing acne.

Solutions: Depending on what issue is causing your acne, there are several solutions that can clear up your forehead acne though some may have a longer time properly diagnosing and healing their forehead acne. We recommend making an appointment with your doctor to see if you have any allergies, stomach problems, or possibly a gluten, sugar, or dairy intolerance that can be causing your acne. Get good quality sleep at night, around 8 hours uninterrupted is best. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to flush out toxins from the body. Work out 5 days a week to sweat out toxins. Eat healthy foods, avoiding any type of processed food. Wash hair product out at night before bed and change your pillow cases every couple of days. Find ways to de-stress like practicing yoga, meditating, going for long walks, etc. Drink peppermint tea to aid in healthy digestion as peppermint is antifungal and antiviral. Take a daily probiotic to kill candida in the stomach and to increase good bacteria.

Chin and Jaw Acne

Causes: Usually correlated with hormonal issues; Women, it can be related to gynecological issues; The kidneys may be imbalanced; Can be from touching your chin, resting your chin or jaw in your hands, or touching your face with your cell phone while you talk on it; If you have long hair, the oils may be transferring to your jaw line and chin causing oil build-up thus causing acne to form. May be allergic to the brand of toothpaste, mouthwash, or lip product you are using.

Solutions: Make an appointment with your doctor to have your hormones checked (for any imbalances) and to get tested for allergies. Change your toothpaste, mouthwash, and/or lip product. Get quality sleep every night that is undisturbed. Drink peppermint tea to aid in healthy digestion. Add Omega-3 foods to your diet. Eat whole foods while minimizing your intake of processed foods that are high in salt, sugar, fat, and dairy. Sanitize your cell phone daily.

Left Cheek Acne:

Causes: It can be caused by liver problems; Malnutrition due to digestive issues; Excess eating; Dirty cell phone, pillow cases, and/or makeup brushes and sponges; Stress; Cosmetics

Solutions: Make a doctor’s appointment to get your liver and stomach checked to make sure everything is functioning properly. Add beets and detoxifying foods to your diet that will strengthen your liver. Drink plenty of clean water daily, preferably 8-10 cups a day, to flush toxins out of your body quickly. Add leafy greens to your diet. Avoid processed foods – Eat more natural, healthy foods. Sanitize your cell phone daily to remove bacteria. Change your pillow cases every couple of days and sanitize your makeup brushes every week to remove residue, oil build-up, and bacteria.

Right Cheek Acne:

Causes: Upper respiratory and lung issues; Allergies (seasonal or food-related); Digestive issues; Stress; Consuming too much sugar (mainly refined and processed sugars); Dirty cell phone, pillow cases, and/or makeup brushes and sponges; Cosmetics

Solutions: Get tested for allergies. Avoid all junk food and processed foods whenever possible and opt for healthy whole foods. You may have food sensitivity to any of the following: mango, wine, seafood, taro root, and more – avoid if you notice flare-ups when you eat these foods. Practice yoga to strengthen your entire body and lungs to breathe more deeply and steadily. Yoga will also help you to de-stress. Sanitize your cell phone every day, change your pillow cases every other day and sanitize your makeup brushes every week. Removing unwanted bacteria and residue will greatly improve the quality and appearance of your skin.

Nose Acne:

Causes: Digestive issues that include constipation and bloating; Gastrointestinal imbalances; An unhealthy diet; If the nose also peels, it could be that you have poor blood circulation.

Solutions: Eat less salt, meat, and spices as these foods can cause your skin to flare up with pimples. Eat lukewarm foods that are neither too hot nor too cold. Work out every day – do something physically active to improve blood circulation. Increase your intake of Vitamin B foods and eat a healthy diet. Get monthly massages to improve blood flow and make sure to get plenty of fresh air.

In Between the Brows Acne:

Causes: Consuming too much alcohol; Tobacco use; A weak heart or an indication of a heart problem.

Solutions: Minimize alcohol consumption and quit smoking and/or chewing tobacco. If you get chest pains or feel like you may have a heart condition, make an appointment with your doctor but remember as we stated above, the causes listed doesn’t mean every person has the health problems listed so don’t be worried!

Hopefully the causes and solutions listed will help you determine why your acne settles where it does and you can begin to find resolutions to heal your acne from within. Good health always starts with a healthy diet, plenty of exercise, and good quality sleep so do yourself a favor and start taking care of yourself. You will feel so much better – mind, body, and soul!
