I fully expect that some of this will change as we become more experienced with the group. If there is something we've missed please let us know.

It's important to note that what follows is just the starting point for the group and is a way of getting it going. Nothing is set in stone, and all the decisions can easily be changed if that's what is wanted.

Who are we?
Keeping with the PowerShell approach to naming, the group is called Get-PSUGHYD. Get-PSUGHYD is a user group open to anyone with an interest in PowerShell - including administrators and developers. The group should be broadly independent of Microsoft, but closely aligned.

What do we do?
We meet every couple of months, midweek after working hours to discus PowerShell. The group will also have a web site, and if we can find someone to take it on, a newsletter.

How do I join?
To become a member, just send a mail to hpavan@gmail.com with your name and a working email address. Currently there is no fee to join or to attend meetings.

First Meeting
Once there are atleast 5 people who are willing to spend their time towards powershell, we will decide the venue and time.

Free Exchange 2007 training in Hyderabad

We are planning to offer free MS Exchange 2007 training program in Hyderabad for a limited batch of 5 people. I was quite busy with my learnings on Exchange 2007. Alas! last week I have managed to clear 70-236 exam on configuring Exchange server 2007. Its a reasonably tough exam, but one can easily pass with a decent plan in approaching this exam.

This is what I did to clear this paper...

1. Set the exam date ( postpone if required :))

2. Had two systems with 2GB RAM each on which Virtual PC installed.

3. Downloaded Exchange 2007 VPC quite a heavy one with 1.5 GB. But managed to get a copy from one of the Microsoft seminars I have attended. This preconfigured VPC gave me chance to try out various common tasks handled in Exchange 2007, like creating mailboxes, various mailbox types, Default rules, roles, and the exchange GUI altogether. It also gave me a first hand information about the various cmdlets available in Exchange 2007.

4. Downloaded the 24 hrs of Exchange 2007, audio only podcasts by Harold Wong available at
http://www.microsoft.com/events/series/tnexchangeserver.aspx?tab=webcasts&id=42340. This presentation gives fair idea about the things to be tried out on Exchange Server 2007.

5. Studied "How to Cheat at Configuring Exchange 2007" and "Mastering Exchange Server 2007" by my favourite author on exchange Mr. Jim Mcbee.

Thats all...all went well and I am certified now.

You can always contact me for further information..

Active Directory Poster from Technet

Check out this cool Active Directory puzzle poster from technet.
