It is not my birthday, but arriving at gateway 75B at LAX I was requested if I would mind moving to First class from Business class! Not a bad day as I head to TVI Actors Studio in New York for the quick flight across America.

South African actress Charlize Theron has signed with WME after many years without a talent agent. She has been without an agent since 2003, when JJ Harris exited UTA Talent Agency to become a personal manager.

Charlize won an Oscar winner for 2003’s “Monster,”.

Her agent at WME will be co-CEO Ari Emanuel. (brother of the current White House Chief of Staff is Rahm Emanuel)

Charlize Theron will next be seen this fall in “The Burning Plain“.

TVI Actors Studio in New York and Los Angeles will be on holiday for Independence Day Weekend. The studios in New York and Los Angeles will re-open on Monday, the 6th of July.

There are many talent agency and casting director listing services that you can purchase talent agency and casting director addresses in New York and Los Angeles. Some are free web listings such as the Association of Talent Agents and National Association of Talent Agencies. On there web site are listings of all the member talent agencies across the US up to date as of June of this year.

There is and the New York Agencies Guide published by Henderson Enterprises that you can purchase at a nominal cost.

On the West Coast you have the Los Angeles Talent Directory published by Acting World Books.

A recent post on our twitter page, (@LionsLoveLambs) stated that she just mails her headshot to the casting director as opposed to doing showcases. Both are good ideas and as an actorpreneur you need to utilize all the tools to gain acting employment. Whether that be mailing out your acting headshots to relevant casting directors* and talent agents, producers that are currently working on a film project or a graduate student film directors work. All are people who can give you opportunities, aka auditions.

It is important and as actorpreneur that when mailing to Film. TV, Theatre or Commercial casting directors or to talent agents, that you research the casting directors that are looking for your type.

For instance, back when I was a talent agent at Cunningham, Escott, Slevin and Dogherty (back then it was Cunningham, Escott and Dipene) I would receive actors headshots from actors seeking Theatrical representation. The same holds true with sending to casting directors. iCarly, Hannah Montana, Tru Jackson rarely hire adult actors, so it would be best to spend your time and money in marketing to casting directors that hire many actors in your range. Now obviosley, casting directors are always getting hired to cast new projects, so one season that may be casting a Kids show, and the next year that can be doing an action adventure film. But as an actor, you need to target, research and define who the best persons to market to.
